H A Dsyncookies.cdiff 956c0d61 Fri Mar 15 16:47:10 MDT 2024 Kuniyuki Iwashima <kuniyu@amazon.com> tcp: Clear req->syncookie in reqsk_alloc().

syzkaller reported a read of uninit req->syncookie. [0]

Originally, req->syncookie was used only in tcp_conn_request()
to indicate if we need to encode SYN cookie in SYN+ACK, so the
field remains uninitialised in other places.

The commit 695751e31a63 ("bpf: tcp: Handle BPF SYN Cookie in
cookie_v[46]_check().") added another meaning in ACK path;
req->syncookie is set true if SYN cookie is validated by BPF
kfunc.

After the change, cookie_v[46]_check() always read req->syncookie,
but it is not initialised in the normal SYN cookie case as reported
by KMSAN.

Let's make sure we always initialise req->syncookie in reqsk_alloc().

H A Dtcp_ipv4.cdiff 8f905c0e Mon Dec 20 07:33:30 MST 2021 Eric Dumazet <edumazet@google.com> inet: fully convert sk->sk_rx_dst to RCU rules

syzbot reported various issues around early demux,
one being included in this changelog [1]

sk->sk_rx_dst is using RCU protection without clearly
documenting it.

And following sequences in tcp_v4_do_rcv()/tcp_v6_do_rcv()
are not following standard RCU rules.

[a] dst_release(dst);
[b] sk->sk_rx_dst = NULL;

They look wrong because a delete operation of RCU protected
pointer is supposed to clear the pointer before
the call_rcu()/synchronize_rcu() guarding actual memory freeing.

In some cases indeed, dst could be freed before [b] is done.

We could cheat by clearing sk_rx_dst before calling
dst_release(), but this seems the right time to stick
to standard RCU annotations and debugging facilities.

H A Dbinder.cdiff 1c363eae Tue Sep 05 02:56:13 MDT 2017 Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de> android: binder: fix type mismatch warning

Allowing binder to expose the 64-bit API on 32-bit kernels caused a
build warning:

drivers/android/binder.c: In function 'binder_transaction_buffer_release':
drivers/android/binder.c:2220:15: error: cast to pointer from integer of different size [-Werror=int-to-pointer-cast]
fd_array = (u32 *)(parent_buffer + fda->parent_offset);
^
drivers/android/binder.c: In function 'binder_translate_fd_array':
drivers/android/binder.c:2445:13: error: cast to pointer from integer of different size [-Werror=int-to-pointer-cast]
fd_array = (u32 *)(parent_buffer + fda->parent_offset);
^
drivers/android/binder.c: In function 'binder_fixup_parent':
drivers/android/binder.c:2511:18: error: cast to pointer from integer of different size [-Werror=int-to-pointer-cast]

This adds extra type casts to avoid the warning.

However, there is another problem with the Kconfig option: turning
it on or off creates two incompatible ABI versions, a kernel that
has this enabled cannot run user space that was built without it
or vice versa. A better solution might be to leave the option hidden
until the binder code is fixed to deal with both ABI versions.

In commit 198bc90e0e73("tcp: make sure init the accept_queue's spinlocks
once"), the spinlocks of accept_queue are initialized only when socket is
created in the inet4 scenario. The locks are not initialized when socket
is created in the inet6 scenario. The kernel reports the following error:
INFO: trying to register non-static key.
The code is fine but needs lockdep annotation, or maybe
you didn't initialize this object before use?
turning off the locking correctness validator.

H A Dudp.cdiff 8f905c0e Mon Dec 20 07:33:30 MST 2021 Eric Dumazet <edumazet@google.com> inet: fully convert sk->sk_rx_dst to RCU rules

syzbot reported various issues around early demux,
one being included in this changelog [1]

sk->sk_rx_dst is using RCU protection without clearly
documenting it.

And following sequences in tcp_v4_do_rcv()/tcp_v6_do_rcv()
are not following standard RCU rules.

[a] dst_release(dst);
[b] sk->sk_rx_dst = NULL;

H A Dtcp_ipv6.cdiff 8f905c0e Mon Dec 20 07:33:30 MST 2021 Eric Dumazet <edumazet@google.com> inet: fully convert sk->sk_rx_dst to RCU rules

syzbot reported various issues around early demux,
one being included in this changelog [1]

sk->sk_rx_dst is using RCU protection without clearly
documenting it.

And following sequences in tcp_v4_do_rcv()/tcp_v6_do_rcv()
are not following standard RCU rules.

[a] dst_release(dst);
[b] sk->sk_rx_dst = NULL;

This change limits the maximum timeout by limiting the size of the
shift, which keeps all intermediate values in-bounds.

__mptcp_mem_reclaim_partial() could call __mptcp_rmem_reclaim() with a
negative value, which passed that negative value to
__sk_mem_reduce_allocated() and triggered the splat above.

Check for a reclaim amount that is positive and large enough for
__mptcp_rmem_reclaim() to actually adjust rmem_fwd_alloc (much like
the sk_mem_reclaim_partial() code the function is based on).

v2: Use '>' instead of '>=', since SK_MEM_QUANTUM - 1 would get
right-shifted into nothing by __mptcp_rmem_reclaim.

Fixes: 6511882cdd82 ("mptcp: allocate fwd memory separately on the rx and tx path")
Closes: https://github.com/multipath-tcp/mptcp_net-next/issues/252
