ASoC: SOF: Intel: hda: Implement get_stream_position (Linear Link Position) When the Linear Link Position is not available in firmware SRAM window we use the host accessible position registers to read it. The address of the PPLCLLPL/U registers depend on the number of streams (playback+capture). At probe time the pplc_addr is calculated for each stream and we can use it to read the LLP without the need of address re-calculation. Set the get_stream_position callback in sof_hda_common_ops for all platforms: The callback is used for IPC4 delay calculations only but the register is a generic HDA register, not tied to any specific IPC version. Also, sending the MOD_D0IX IPC to set the D0I3 state again when the DSP is in D0I3 already results in an imbalance in PM runtime states in the firmware. ASoC: SOF: Intel: hda: Do not re-enable L1 if disabled before suspend We have a workaround in place to address a known issue with host DMA running into xruns when capture streams are running. But when resuming from Sx, we unconditionally re-enable DMI L1 without taking the workaround into account and this could lead to xruns when a suspended capture stream is restarted. To fix this rename the flag l1_support_enabled to l1_disabled in struct sof_intel_hda_dev to save the L1 disabled status which can be set/cleared when we get/put a stream and use the flag to determine if DMI L1 should enabled or not during the post_fw_run op. ASoC: SOF: Intel: hda: add per-chip enable_sdw_irq() callback Different generations of Intel hardware rely on different programming sequences to enable SoundWire IP. In existing hardware, the SoundWire interrupt is enabled with a register field in the DSP register space. With HDaudio multi-link extensions registers, the SoundWire interrupt will be enabled with a generic interrupt enable field in LCTL, without any dependency on the DSP being enabled. Add a per-chip callback following the example of the check_sdw_irq() model already upstream. Note that the callback is not populated yet for MeteorLake (MTL) since the interrupts are already enabled in the init. A follow-up patch will move the functionality to this callback after a couple of cleanups. ASoC: SOF: Intel: add initial SKL/KBL hardware support In preparation of the IPCv4 IPC support, this patch adds support for SkyLake and KabyLake boot and descriptors used when probing the PCI driver. The work was initially contributed in 2018 by Liam Girdwood and Zhu Yingjiang, and abandoned due to firmware signature issues. With the upcoming support of IPC v4, and hence the Intel closed-source firmware, it's time to re-add this capability. The SKL ops will be added in the next patch. Tested with the IPC4 and closed-source firmware on Dell XPS 9350 and KBL NUC with HDaudio codecs. The SSP and DMIC interfaces are not supported at this time. With the existing support of IPC v4, it's time to re-add this capability. This patch uses the newly added FSR (Firmware State Register) definitions for DSP state handling and targeting, ass well as new state definition for SKL which indicates that the firmware has been started (similar to FW_ENTERED on other platforms). ASoC: SOF: remove const qualifier for 'struct snd_sof_dsp_ops' Now that we start having multiple platforms with minor variants, the use of the const qualifier for 'dsp_ops' is starting to be sub-optimal: the structures are copied across platforms, with only a couple of members that differ. This patch removes the const qualifier without any functionality changes, and adds an optional initialization callback. In follow-up patches, the dsp_ops will revisited for Intel HDaudio platforms, with the differences added programmatically over a common baseline. The probes debugfs ops are based on the initial implementation by Cezary Rojewski and have been moved out of the SOF core into the client driver making it easier to maintain. ASoC: SOF: IPC: dai: Expand DAI_CONFIG IPC flags Some DAI components, such as HDaudio, need to be stopped in two steps a) stop the DAI component b) stop the DAI DMA This patch enables this two-step stop by expanding the DAI_CONFIG IPC flags and split them into 2 parts. The 4 LSB bits indicate when the DAI_CONFIG IPC is sent, ex: hw_params, hw_free or pause. The 4 MSB bits are used as the quirk flags to be used along with the command flags. The quirk flag called SOF_DAI_CONFIG_FLAGS_2_STEP_STOP shall be set along with the HW_PARAMS command flag, i.e. before the pipeline is started so that the stop/pause trigger op in the FW can take the appropriate action to either perform/skip the DMA stop. If set, the DMA stop will be executed when the DAI_CONFIG IPC is sent during hw_free. In the case of pause, DMA pause will be handled when the DAI_CONFIG IPC is sent with the PAUSE command flag. Along with this, modify the signature for the hda_ctrl_dai_widget_setup/ hda_ctrl_dai_widget_free() functions to take additional flags as an argument and modify all users to pass the appropriate quirk flags. Only the HDA DAI's need to pass the SOF_DAI_CONFIG_FLAGS_2_STEP_STOP quirk flag during hw_params to indicate that it supports two-step stop and pause. ASoC: SOF: Intel: add .ack support for HDaudio platforms When we disable rewinds, then the .ack can be used to program SPIB with the application pointer, which allows the HDaudio DMA to save power by opportunistically bursting data transfers when the path to memory is enabled (and conversely to shut it down when there are no transfer requests). The SPIB register can only be programmed with incremental values with wrap-around after the DMA RUN bits are set. For simplicity, we set the INFO_NO_REWINDS flag in the .open callback when we already need to program the SNDRV_PCM_INFO_SYNC_APPLPTR flag. Rewinds are not used by many applications. One notable application using rewinds is PulseAudio. Practical experiments with Ubuntu/PulseAudio default settings did not show any audible issues, but the user may hear volume changes and notification with a delay, depending on the size of the ring buffer and latency constraints. The choice of disabling rewinds is exposed as a kernel parameter and not a Kconfig option to avoid any undesirable side-effects. ASoC: SOF: Intel: hda: release display power at link_power The i915 display power is requested both by controller (for init and link reset) as well as by codec driver (for codec control). There's an additional constraint that on some platforms frequent changes to display power state may cause visible flicker. To avoid this, the SOF hda controller requests display power whenever it is active and only releases it when runtime suspended. This patch utilizes the new hdac_bus link_power op to plug into HDA link state changes. By monitoring link state changes, we can keep the controller side display power wakeref until the codec driver has completed its work, and only release the wakeref when codec driver is suspended. ASoC: SOF: Intel: hda: add WAKEEN interrupt support for SoundWire When a SoundWire link is in clock stop state, a Slave device may wake up the Master for some events such as jack detection. The WAKEEN interrupt will be triggered and processed by the audio pci device. This patch only supports D3 case, where the audio pci device will be resumed by a PME event and the WAKEEN interrupt will be processed after audio pci device is powered up and ROM is initialized successfully. ASoC: SOF: Intel: cnl: Implement feature to support DSP D0i3 in S0 This patch implements support for DSP D0i3 when the system is in S0. The basic idea is to schedule a delayed work after every successful IPC TX that checks if there are only D0I3-compatible streams active and if so transition the DSP to D0I3. With the introduction of DSP D0I3 in S0, we need to ensure that the DSP is in D0I0 before sending any new IPCs. ASoC: SOF: Move DSP power state transitions to platform-specific ops The DSP device substates such as D0I0/D0I3 are platform-specific. Therefore, the d0_substate field of struct snd_sof_dev is replaced with the dsp_power_state field which represents the current state of the DSP. This field holds both the device state and the platform-specific substate values. With the DSP device substates being platform-specific, the DSP power state transitions need to be performed in the platform-specific suspend/resume ops as well. In order to achieve this, the ops signature has to be modified to pass the target device state as an argument. The target substate will be determined by the platform-specific ops before performing the transition. For example, in the case of the system suspending to S0IX, the top-level SOF device suspend callback needs to only determine if the DSP will be entering D3 or remain in D0. The target substate in case the device needs to remain in D0 (D0I0 or D0I3) will be determined by the platform-specific suspend op. With the addition of the extended set of power states for the DSP, the set_power_state op for HDA platforms has to be extended to handle only the appropriate state transitions. So, the implementation for the Intel HDA platforms is also modified. ASoC: SOF: Intel: drop HDA codec upon probe failure In case a HDA codec probe fails, do not raise error immediately, but instead remove the codec from bus->codec_mask and continue probe for other codecs. This allows for more robust behaviour in cases where one codec in the system is faulty. SOF driver load can still proceed with the codecs that can be probed successfully. Probe may still fail if suitable machine driver is not found, but in many cases the generic HDA machine driver can operate with a subset of codecs. ASoC: SOF: Make creation of machine device from SOF core optional Currently, SOF probes machine drivers by creating a platform device and passing the machine description as private data. This is driven by the ACPI restrictions. Ideally, ACPI tables should contain the description for the machine driver. This is not possible because ACPI tables are frozen and used on multiple OS-es (e.g Windows). In the case of Device Tree we don't have this restriction, so we choose to probe the machine drivers by creating a DT node as is the standard ALSA way. This patch makes the probing of machine drivers from SOF core optional allowing for Device Tree platforms to decouple the SOF core from machine driver probing. Along with this, it also consolidates the machine driver selection for Intel platforms by defining optional ops for selecting the machine driver based on the ACPI match for HDA and non-HDA platforms and setting the mach params. ASoC: SOF: Intel: hda: solve MSI issues by merging ipc and stream irq handlers The existing code uses two handlers for a shared edge-based MSI interrupts. In corner cases, interrupts are lost, leading to IPC timeouts. Those timeouts do not appear in legacy mode. This patch merges the two handlers and threads into a single one, and simplifies the mask/unmask operations by using a single top-level mask (Global Interrupt Enable). The handler only checks for interrupt sources using the Global Interrupt Status (GIS) field, and all the actual work happens in the thread. This also enables us to remove the use of spin locks. Stream events are prioritized over IPC ones. This patch was tested with HDaudio and SoundWire platforms, and all known IPC timeout issues are solved in MSI mode. The SoundWire-specific patches will be provided in follow-up patches, where the SoundWire interrupts are handled in the same thread as IPC and stream interrupts. ASoC: SOF: Intel: Initialize hdaudio bus properly The SOF HD-audio bus has its house-made initialization code. It's supposedly for making the code independent from HD-audio bus drivers. However, this is error-prone, and above all, the SOF driver has already dependency on HD-audio bus driver when CONFIG_SND_SOF_HDA is set. That is, if this Kconfig is set, there is no reason to avoid the call to the proper bus init function. Also, the ext_ops that is set at bus initialization can be better handled inside sof_hda_bus_init(). We don't need to refer this outside the bus initialization. So this patch addresses these issues: - sof_hda_bus_init() calls nothing but snd_hdac_ext_bus_init() when CONFIG_SND_SOF_HDA is set. Otherwise some fields are initialized locally like before for avoiding the dependency. - ext_ops is referred inside sof_hda_bus_init(). The ext_ops argument of snd_hda_bus_init() is dropped. ASoC: SOF: Intel: hda: Enable jack detection In commit 7d4f606c50ff ("ALSA: hda - WAKEEN feature enabling for runtime pm"), legacy HD-A driver sets hda controller in reset mode after entering runtime-suspend. And when resuming from suspend mode, it checks hda controller & codec status to detect headphone hotplug event. Now this patch does the same job in SOF runtime pm functions. And we need to check all the non-hdmi codecs for some cases like playback with HDMI or capture with DMIC connected to dsp. In these cases, only controller is active and codecs are suspended, so codecs can't send unsolicited event to controller. The jack polling operation will activate codecs and unsolicited event can work even codecs become suspended later. Tested on whiskylake with hda codecs. ASoC: SOF: intel: hda: add hw_params_upon_resume flag for hda stream The prepare() ioctl for BE dai link gets called both when the stream is started and when it is resumed from suspend. SOF uses this ioctl to set the hw params again only if the stream has been suspended. When the stream is started, the hw_params ioctl gets called before prepare() and hw_params is set for the BE dai link. So the prepare call does not need to do anything further. When the stream resumes after system suspend, SOF requires that the hw_params be set again for the BE dai. In order to determine which streams should set the hw params during prepare(), an internal flag called "hw_params_upon_resume" is introduced in struct sof_intel_hda_stream. The flag is set for hda streams when the sof device suspends and is cleared after hw_params is set. ASoC: SOF: Intel: hda: set I2S slave before enabling DSP By default, the I2S ports are configured in master mode during DSP powerup sequences, the FS and BCLK lines will be driven on startup, even when the topology file explicitly requires the SSP to be slave. This may be problematic for external components configured in master mode who don't expect the Intel SOC/PCH to drive. Fix by configuring the SSP as slave before the SSP outputs are enabled to avoid this transient behavior. When the topology file configures the SSP as clock master, the initial slave configuration will be overridden.
