The Apache Group does not author these modules, so we 44 provide no support for them. Apache's I/O model 107 does not allow asynchronous reading and writing in a manner 108 that the ISAPI could access. If an ISA tries to access 109 unsupported features, including async I/O, a message is placed 110 in the error log to help with debugging. Since these messages 111 can become a flood, the directive
ISAPILogNotSupported 112 Off
exists to quiet this noise.
113 114
Some servers, like Microsoft IIS, load the ISAPI extension 115 into the server and keep it loaded until memory usage is too 116 high, or unless configuration options are specified. Apache 117 currently loads and unloads the ISAPI extension each time it is 118 requested, unless the
ISAPICacheFile
directive is specified. 119 This is inefficient, but Apache's memory model makes this the 120 most effective method. Many ISAPI modules are subtly 121 incompatible with the Apache server, and unloading these 122 modules helps to ensure the stability of the server.
123 124
Also, remember that while Apache supports ISAPI Extensions, 125 it does not support ISAPI Filters.
