p The first character of each line is interpreted as a carriage-control character. The following characters are interpreted as follows: l -tag -width ".Aq space" t Aq space Output the rest of the line without change. t 0 Output a .Aq newline character before printing the rest of the line. t 1 Output a .Aq formfeed character before printing the rest of the line. t + The trailing .Aq newline of the previous line is replaced by a .Aq carriage-return before printing the rest of the line. .El
