selftests: net: verify fq per-band packet limit Commit 29f834aa326e ("net_sched: sch_fq: add 3 bands and WRR scheduling") introduces multiple traffic bands, and per-band maximum packet count. Per-band limits ensures that packets in one class cannot fill the entire qdisc and so cause DoS to the traffic in the other classes. Verify this behavior: 1. set the limit to 10 per band 2. send 20 pkts on band A: verify that 10 are queued, 10 dropped 3. send 20 pkts on band A: verify that 0 are queued, 20 dropped 4. send 20 pkts on band B: verify that 10 are queued, 10 dropped Packets must remain queued for a period to trigger this behavior. Use SO_TXTIME to store packets for 100 msec. The test reuses existing upstream test infra. The script is a fork of cmsg_time.sh. The scripts call cmsg_sender. The test extends cmsg_sender with two arguments: * '-P' SO_PRIORITY There is a subtle difference between IPv4 and IPv6 stack behavior: PF_INET/IP_TOS sets IP header bits and sk_priority PF_INET6/IPV6_TCLASS sets IP header bits BUT NOT sk_priority * '-n' num pkts Send multiple packets in quick succession. I first attempted a for loop in the script, but this is too slow in virtualized environments, causing flakiness as the 100ms timeout is reached and packets are dequeued. Also do not wait for timestamps to be queued unless timestamps are requested. selftests/net: mv bpf/nat6to4.c to net folder There are some issues with the bpf/nat6to4.c building. 1. It use TEST_CUSTOM_PROGS, which will add the nat6to4.o to kselftest-list file and run by common run_tests. 2. When building the test via `make -C tools/testing/selftests/ TARGETS="net"`, the nat6to4.o will be build in selftests/net/bpf/ folder. But in test udpgro_frglist.sh it refers to ../bpf/nat6to4.o. The correct path should be ./bpf/nat6to4.o. 3. If building the test via `make -C tools/testing/selftests/ TARGETS="net" install`. The nat6to4.o will be installed to kselftest_install/net/ folder. Then the udpgro_frglist.sh should refer to ./nat6to4.o. To fix the confusing test path, let's just move the nat6to4.c to net folder and build it as TEST_GEN_FILES. selftest: Add test for SO_INCOMING_CPU. Some highly optimised applications use SO_INCOMING_CPU to make them efficient, but they didn't test if it's working correctly by getsockopt() to avoid slowing down. As a result, no one noticed it had been broken for years, so it's a good time to add a test to catch future regression. The test does 1) Create $(nproc) TCP listeners associated with each CPU. 2) Create 32 child sockets for each listener by calling sched_setaffinity() for each CPU. 3) Check if accept()ed sockets' sk_incoming_cpu matches listener's one. If we see -EAGAIN, SO_INCOMING_CPU is broken. However, we might not see any error even if broken; the kernel could miraculously distribute all SYN to correct listeners. Not to let that happen, we must increase the number of clients and CPUs to some extent, so the test requires $(nproc) >= 2 and creates 64 sockets at least. The sk_bind_sendto_listen test is copied over from one of syzbot's tests: https://syzkaller.appspot.com/x/repro.c?x=1673a38df00000 The sk_connect_zero_addr test exercises the path where the socket was never previously added to the binding tables and it gets assigned a saddr upon a connect() to address 0. selftests/net: Add test for timing a bind request to a port with a populated bhash entry This test populates the bhash table for a given port with MAX_THREADS * MAX_CONNECTIONS sockets, and then times how long a bind request on the port takes. When populating the bhash table, we create the sockets and then bind the sockets to the same address and port (SO_REUSEADDR and SO_REUSEPORT are set). When timing how long a bind on the port takes, we bind on a different address without SO_REUSEPORT set. We do not set SO_REUSEPORT because we are interested in the case where the bind request does not go through the tb->fastreuseport path, which is fragile (eg tb->fastreuseport path does not work if binding with a different uid). To run the script: Usage: ./bind_bhash.sh [-6 | -4] [-p port] [-a address] 6: use ipv6 4: use ipv4 port: Port number address: ip address Without any arguments, ./bind_bhash.sh defaults to ipv6 using ip address "2001:0db8:0:f101::1" on port 443. On my local machine, I see: ipv4: before - 0.002317 seconds with bhash2 - 0.000020 seconds ipv6: before - 0.002431 seconds with bhash2 - 0.000021 seconds Signed-off-by: Joanne Koong <joannelkoong@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Jakub Kicinski <kuba@kernel.org>

net: selftests: Stress reuseport listen This patch adds a test that has 300 VIPs listening on port 443. Each VIP:443 will have 80 listening socks by using SO_REUSEPORT. Thus, it will have 24000 listening socks. Before removing the port only listening_hash, all socks will be in the same port 443 bucket and inet_reuseport_add_sock() spends much time to walk through the bucket. After removing the port only listening_hash and move all usage to the port+addr lhash2, each bucket in the ideal case has 80 sk which is much smaller than before. Here is the test result from a qemu: Before: listen 24000 socks took 210.210485362 (~210s) After: listen 24000 socks took 0.207173 (~210ms) Signed-off-by: Martin KaFai Lau <kafai@fb.com> Reviewed-by: Eric Dumazet <edumazet@google.com> Signed-off-by: Jakub Kicinski <kuba@kernel.org>

selftests/net: GRO coalesce test Implement a GRO testsuite that expects Linux kernel GRO behavior. All tests pass with the kernel software GRO stack. Run against a device with hardware GRO to verify that it matches the software stack. gro.c generates packets and sends them out through a packet socket. The receiver in gro.c (run separately) receives the packets on a packet socket, filters them by destination ports using BPF and checks the packet geometry to see whether GRO was applied. gro.sh provides a wrapper to run the gro.c in NIC loopback mode. It is not included in continuous testing because it modifies network configuration around a physical NIC: gro.sh sets the NIC in loopback mode, creates macvlan devices on the physical device in separate namespaces, and sends traffic generated by gro.c between the two namespaces to observe coalescing behavior. GRO coalescing is time sensitive. Some tests may prove flaky on some hardware. Note that this test suite tests for software GRO unless hardware GRO is enabled (ethtool -K $DEV rx-gro-hw on). To test, run ./gro.sh. The wrapper will output success or failed test names, and generate log.txt and stderr. Sample log.txt result: ... pure data packet of same size: Test succeeded large data packets followed by a smaller one: Test succeeded small data packets followed by a larger one: Test succeeded ... Sample stderr result: ... carrier ready running test ipv4 data Expected {200 }, Total 1 packets Received {200 }, Total 1 packets. ... The topology is formed by 3 nodes: Alpha (sender), Beta (router in-between) and Gamma (receiver). An IOAM domain is configured from Alpha to Gamma only, which means not on the reverse path. When Gamma is the destination, Alpha adds an IOAM option (Pre-allocated Trace) inside a Hop-by-hop and fills the trace with its own IOAM data. Beta and Gamma also fill the trace. The IOAM data integrity is checked on Gamma, by comparing with the pre-defined IOAM configuration (see below). +-------------------+ +-------------------+ | | | | | alpha netns | | gamma netns | | | | | | +-------------+ | | +-------------+ | | | veth0 | | | | veth0 | | | | db01::2/64 | | | | db02::2/64 | | | +-------------+ | | +-------------+ | | . | | . | +-------------------+ +-------------------+ . . . . . . +----------------------------------------------------+ | . . | | +-------------+ +-------------+ | | | veth0 | | veth1 | | | | db01::1/64 | ................ | db02::1/64 | | | +-------------+ +-------------+ | | | | beta netns | | | +--------------------------+-------------------------+ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ | IOAM configuration | ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Alpha +-----------------------------------------------------------+ | Type | Value | +-----------------------------------------------------------+ | Node ID | 1 | +-----------------------------------------------------------+ | Node Wide ID | 11111111 | +-----------------------------------------------------------+ | Ingress ID | 0xffff (default value) | +-----------------------------------------------------------+ | Ingress Wide ID | 0xffffffff (default value) | +-----------------------------------------------------------+ | Egress ID | 101 | +-----------------------------------------------------------+ | Egress Wide ID | 101101 | +-----------------------------------------------------------+ | Namespace Data | 0xdeadbee0 | +-----------------------------------------------------------+ | Namespace Wide Data | 0xcafec0caf00dc0de | +-----------------------------------------------------------+ | Schema ID | 777 | +-----------------------------------------------------------+ | Schema Data | something that will be 4n-aligned | +-----------------------------------------------------------+ Note: When Gamma is the destination, Alpha adds an IOAM Pre-allocated Trace option inside a Hop-by-hop, where 164 bytes are pre-allocated for the trace, with 123 as the IOAM-Namespace and with 0xfff00200 as the trace type (= all available options at this time). Expect the current kernel behavior at the time of this patch. That is: * 0/8 and 240/4 may be used as unicast, with the exceptions of 0.0.0.0 and 255.255.255.255; * the lowest address in a subnet may only be used as a broadcast address; * 127/8 may not be used as unicast (the route_localnet option, which is disabled by default, still leaves it treated slightly specially); * 224/4 may not be used as unicast. selftests: Add VRF route leaking tests The objective of the tests is to check that ICMP errors generated while crossing between VRFs are properly routed back to the source host. The first ttl test sends a ping with a ttl of 1 from h1 to h2 and parses the output of the command to check that a ttl expired error is received. The second ttl test runs traceroute from h1 to h2 and parses the output to check for a hop on r1. The mtu test sends a ping with a payload of 1450 from h1 to h2, through r1 which has an interface with a mtu of 1400 and parses the output of the command to check that a fragmentation needed error is received. [ The IPv6 MTU test still fails with the symmetric routing setup. It appears to be caused by source address selection picking ::1. selftest/net/xfrm: Add test for ipsec tunnel It's an exhaustive testing for ipsec: covering all encryption/ authentication/compression algorithms. The tests are run in two network namespaces, connected by veth interfaces. To make exhaustive testing less time-consuming, the tests are run in parallel tasks, specified by parameter to the selftest. As the patches set adds support for xfrm in compatible tasks, there are tests to check structures that differ in size between 64-bit and 32-bit applications. The selftest doesn't use libnl so that it can be easily compiled as compatible application and don't require compatible .so. Here is a diagram of the selftest: --------------- | selftest | | (parent) | --------------- | | | (pipe) | ---------- / | | \ /------------- / \ -------------\ | /----- -----\ | ---------|----------|----------------|----------|--------- | --------- --------- --------- --------- | | | child | | child | NS A | child | | child | | | --------- --------- --------- --------- | -------|------------|----------------|-------------|------ veth0 veth1 veth2 vethN ---------|------------|----------------|-------------|---------- | ------------ ------------ ------------ ------------ | | | gr.child | | gr.child | NS B | gr.child | | gr.child | | | ------------ ------------ ------------ ------------ | ---------------------------------------------------------------- The parent sends the description of a test (xfrm parameters) to the child, the child and grand child setup a tunnel over veth interface and test it by sending udp packets. selftests/net: plug rxtimestamp test into kselftest framework Run rxtimestamp as part of TEST_PROGS. Analogous to other tests, add new rxtimestamp.sh wrapper script, so that the test runs isolated from background traffic in a private network namespace. Also ignore failures of test case #6 by default. This case verifies that a receive timestamp is not reported if timestamp reporting is enabled for a socket, but generation is disabled. Receive timestamp generation has to be enabled globally, as no associated socket is known yet. A background process that enables rx timestamp generation therefore causes a false positive. Ntpd is one example that does. Add a "--strict" option to cause failure in the event that any test case fails, including test #6. This is useful for environments that are known to not have such background processes. selftests: net: Add FIN_ACK processing order related latency spike test This commit adds a test for FIN_ACK process races related reconnection latency spike issues. The issue has described and solved by the previous commit ("tcp: Reduce SYN resend delay if a suspicous ACK is received"). The test program is configured with a server and a client process. The server creates and binds a socket to a port that dynamically allocated, listen on it, and start a infinite loop. Inside the loop, it accepts connection, reads 4 bytes from the socket, and closes the connection. The client is constructed as an infinite loop. Inside the loop, it creates a socket with LINGER and NODELAY option, connect to the server, send 4 bytes data, try read some data from server. After the read() returns, it measure the latency from the beginning of this loop to this point and if the latency is larger than 1 second (spike), print a message. Point of this command versus existing utilities: - controlled implementation of the APIs and the order in which they are called, - ability to verify ingress device, local and remote addresses, - timeout for controlled test length, - ability to discriminate a timeout from a system call failure, and - simplicity with test scripts. selftests/net: SO_TXTIME with ETF and FQ The SO_TXTIME API enables packet tranmission with delayed delivery. This is currently supported by the ETF and FQ packet schedulers. Evaluate the interface with both schedulers. Install the scheduler and send a variety of packets streams: without delay, with one delayed packet, with multiple ordered delays and with reordering. Verify that packets are released by the scheduler in expected order. The ETF qdisc requires a timestamp in the future on every packet. It needs a delay on the qdisc else the packet is dropped on dequeue for having a delivery time in the past. The test value is experimentally derived. ETF requires clock_id CLOCK_TAI. It checks this base and drops for non-conformance. The FQ qdisc expects clock_id CLOCK_MONOTONIC, the base used by TCP as of commit fb420d5d91c1 ("tcp/fq: move back to CLOCK_MONOTONIC"). Within a flow there is an expecation of ordered delivery, as shown by delivery times of test 4. The FQ qdisc does not require all packets to have timestamps and does not drop for non-conformance. The large (msec) delays are chosen to avoid flakiness. Output: SO_TXTIME ipv6 clock monotonic payload:a delay:28 expected:0 (us) SO_TXTIME ipv4 clock monotonic payload:a delay:38 expected:0 (us) SO_TXTIME ipv6 clock monotonic payload:a delay:40 expected:0 (us) SO_TXTIME ipv4 clock monotonic payload:a delay:33 expected:0 (us) SO_TXTIME ipv6 clock monotonic payload:a delay:10120 expected:10000 (us) SO_TXTIME ipv4 clock monotonic payload:a delay:10102 expected:10000 (us) [.. etc ..] OK. Non-library linker flags, such as -L, should go in the LDFLAGS variable. https://lkml.org/lkml/2010/2/10/362 tools/perf: libraries must come after objects Link order matters, use LDLIBS instead of LDFLAGS to properly link against libnuma. selftests/net: add txring_overwrite Packet sockets with PACKET_TX_RING send skbs with user data in frags. Before commit 5cd8d46ea156 ("packet: copy user buffers before orphan or clone") ring slots could be released prematurely, possibly allowing a process to overwrite data still in flight. This test opens two packet sockets, one to send and one to read. The sender has a tx ring of one slot. It sends two packets with different payload, then reads both and verifies their payload. Before the above commit, both receive calls return the same data as the send calls use the same buffer. From the commit, the clone needed for looping onto a packet socket triggers an skb_copy_ubufs to create a private copy. The separate sends each arrive correctly. The packet is also verified to arrive at a UDP socket for protocol conformance. The test sends a packet over loopback, testing the following options (not the full cross-product): - SOCK_DGRAM - SOCK_RAW - vlan tag - qdisc bypass - bind() and sendto() - virtio_net_hdr - csum offload (NOT actual csum feature, ignored on loopback) - gso Besides these basic functionality tests, the test runs from a set of bounds checks, positive and negative. License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no license Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license. By default all files without license information are under the default license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2. Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0' SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text. This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and Philippe Ombredanne. How this work was done: Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of the use cases: - file had no licensing information it it. - file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it, - file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information, Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords. The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files. The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s) to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was: - Files considered eligible had to be source code files. - Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5 lines of source - File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5 lines). All documentation files were explicitly excluded. The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license identifiers to apply. - when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was considered to have no license information in it, and the top level COPYING file license applied. For non */uapi/* files that summary was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 11139 and resulted in the first patch in this series. If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930 and resulted in the second patch in this series. - if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in it (per prior point). Results summary: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------ GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 270 GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 169 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause) 21 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 17 LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 15 GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 14 ((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 5 LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 4 LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1 and that resulted in the third patch in this series. - when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became the concluded license(s). - when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a license but the other didn't, or they both detected different licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred. - In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics). - When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. - If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier, the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later in time. In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so they are related. Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks in about 15000 files. In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the correct identifier. Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch version early this week with: - a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected license ids and scores - reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+ files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct - reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the different types of files to be modified. These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to generate the patches. soreuseport: BPF selection functional test for TCP Unfortunately the existing test relied on packet payload in order to map incoming packets to sockets. In order to get this to work with TCP, TCP_FASTOPEN needed to be used. Since the fast open path is slightly different than the standard TCP path, I created a second test which sends to reuseport group members based on receiving cpu core id. This will probably serve as a better real-world example use as well. Signed-off-by: Craig Gallek <kraig@google.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

soreuseport: BPF selection functional test This program will build classic and extended BPF programs and validate the socket selection logic when used with SO_ATTACH_REUSEPORT_CBPF and SO_ATTACH_REUSEPORT_EBPF. It also validates the re-programing flow and several edge cases. Signed-off-by: Craig Gallek <kraig@google.com> Acked-by: Alexei Starovoitov <ast@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: David S. selftests: Add install target This adds make install support to selftests. The basic usage is: $ cd tools/testing/selftests $ make install That installs into tools/testing/selftests/install, which can then be copied where ever necessary. The install destination is also configurable using eg: $ INSTALL_PATH=/mnt/selftests make install The implementation uses two targets in the child makefiles. The first "install" is expected to install all files into $(INSTALL_PATH). The second, "emit_tests", is expected to emit the test instructions (ie. bash script) on stdout. Separating this from install means the child makefiles need no knowledge of the location of the test script. selftests: Introduce minimal shared logic for running tests This adds a Make include file which most selftests can then include to get the run_tests logic. On its own this has the advantage of some reduction in repetition, and also means the pass/fail message is defined in fewer places. However the key advantage is it will allow us to implement install very simply in a subsequent patch. The default implementation just executes each program in $(TEST_PROGS). We use a variable to hold the default implementation of $(RUN_TESTS) because that gives us a clean way to override it if necessary, ie. using override. The mount, memory-hotplug and mqueue tests use that to provide a different implementation. Tests are not run via /bin/bash, so if they are scripts they must be executable, we add a+x to several. net: filter: BPF testsuite The testsuite covers classic and internal BPF instructions. It is particularly useful for JIT compiler developers. Adds to "net" selftest target. The testsuite can be used as a set of micro-benchmarks. It measures execution time of each BPF program in nsec. This patch adds core framework. selftests: net: add PF_PACKET TPACKET v1/v2/v3 selftests This patch adds a simple test case that probes the packet socket's TPACKET_V1, TPACKET_V2 and TPACKET_V3 behavior regarding mmap(2)'ed I/O for a small burst of 100 packets. The test currently runs for ... TPACKET_V1: RX_RING, TX_RING TPACKET_V2: RX_RING, TX_RING TPACKET_V3: RX_RING ... and will output on success: test: TPACKET_V1 with PACKET_RX_RING .................... 100 pkts (9600 bytes) test: TPACKET_V1 with PACKET_TX_RING .................... 100 pkts (9600 bytes) test: TPACKET_V2 with PACKET_RX_RING .................... 100 pkts (9600 bytes) test: TPACKET_V2 with PACKET_TX_RING .................... 100 pkts (9600 bytes) test: TPACKET_V3 with PACKET_RX_RING .................... 100 pkts (9600 bytes) OK.
