KVM: selftests: Set KVM's supported CPUID as vCPU's CPUID during recreate On x86-64, set KVM's supported CPUID as the vCPU's CPUID when recreating a VM+vCPU to deduplicate code for state save/restore tests, and to provide symmetry of sorts with respect to vm_create_with_one_vcpu(). The extra KVM_SET_CPUID2 call is wasteful for Hyper-V, but ultimately is nothing more than an expensive nop, and overriding the vCPU's CPUID with the Hyper-V CPUID information is the only known scenario where a state save/restore test wouldn't need/want the default CPUID. Opportunistically use __weak for the default vm_compute_max_gfn(), it's provided by tools' compiler.h. KVM: selftests: Convert smm_test away from VCPU_ID Convert smm_test to use vm_create_with_one_vcpu() and pass around a 'struct kvm_vcpu' object instead of using a global VCPU_ID. Note, this is a "functional" change in the sense that the test now creates a vCPU with vcpu_id==0 instead of vcpu_id==1. The non-zero VCPU_ID was 100% arbitrary and added little to no validation coverage. If testing non-zero vCPU IDs is desirable for generic tests, that can be done in the future by tweaking the VM creation helpers. Opportunistically use vcpu_run() instead of _vcpu_run(), the test expects KVM_RUN to succeed. Signed-off-by: Sean Christopherson <seanjc@google.com> Signed-off-by: Paolo Bonzini <pbonzini@redhat.com>

KVM: selftests: Don't skip L2's VMCALL in SMM test for SVM guest Don't skip the vmcall() in l2_guest_code() prior to re-entering L2, doing so will result in L2 running to completion, popping '0' off the stack for RET, jumping to address '0', and ultimately dying with a triple fault shutdown. It's not at all obvious why the test re-enters L2 and re-executes VMCALL, but presumably it serves a purpose. The VMX path doesn't skip vmcall(), and the test can't possibly have passed on SVM, so just do what VMX does. KVM: selftests: fix sync_with_host() in smm_test It was reported that older GCCs compile smm_test in a way that breaks it completely: kvm_exit: reason EXIT_CPUID rip 0x4014db info 0 0 func 7ffffffd idx 830 rax 0 rbx 0 rcx 0 rdx 0, cpuid entry not found ... kvm_exit: reason EXIT_MSR rip 0x40abd9 info 0 0 kvm_msr: msr_read 487 = 0x0 (#GP) ... Note, '7ffffffd' was supposed to be '80000001' as we're checking for SVM. Dropping '-O2' from compiler flags help. Turns out, asm block in sync_with_host() is wrong. We us 'in 0xe, %%al' instruction to sync with the host and in 'AL' register we actually pass the parameter (stage) but after sync 'AL' gets written to but GCC thinks the value is still there and uses it to compute 'EAX' for 'cpuid'. smm_test can't fully use standard ucall() framework as we need to write a very simple SMI handler there. Fix the immediate issue by making RAX input/output operand. While on it, make sync_with_host() static inline. selftests: kvm: add a selftest for SMM Add a simple test for SMM, based on VMX. The test implements its own sync between the guest and the host as using our ucall library seems to be too cumbersome: SMI handler is happening in real-address mode. This patch also fixes KVM_SET_NESTED_STATE to happen after KVM_SET_VCPU_EVENTS, in fact it places it last. This is because KVM needs to know whether the processor is in SMM or not.
