ASoC: soc.h: convert asoc_xxx() to snd_soc_xxx() ASoC is using 2 type of prefix (asoc_xxx() vs snd_soc_xxx()), but there is no particular reason about that [1]. ASoC: soc-utils: Improve kerneldoc for snd_soc_tdm_params_to_bclk() The statement that snd_soc_tdm_params_to_bclk() is equivalent to snd_soc_params_to_bclk() if tdm_width==tdm_slots==0 is not accurate, it is only true is slot_multiple is also <2. However, the description of special-case behaviour in terms of pairs of tdm_width and tdm_slot values is not particularly helpful so we might as well take the opportunity to rework the description to say the same thing in a simpler way. ASoC: soc-utils: Add helper to calculate BCLK from TDM info Add a helper function snd_soc_tdm_params_to_bclk() to calculate the bclk from params info and the tdm sots configuration. When using a TDM frame of N slots of width W bits: bclk = sample_rate * N * W As a convenience to simplify calling code, if the slot count or slot width are 0 a value will be obtained from the params. This allows calling code to use this one function to handle cases of TDM where only one parameter is fixed, or I2S where the slot width is fixed (for example to set a 32-bit slot for 24-bit samples). Also as a convenience the slot count can optionally be rounded up to a multiple. This is mainly useful for I2S systems, since I2S has two phases of LRCLK the number of slots is always a multiple of 2. ASoC: soc-core: add snd_soc_runtime_get_dai_fmt() ASoC is using dai_link which specify DAI format (= dai_link->dai_fmt), and it is selected by "Sound Card" driver in corrent implementation. In other words, Sound Card *needs* to setup it. But, it should be possible to automatically selected from CPU and Codec driver settings. This patch adds new .auto_selectable_formats support at snd_soc_dai_ops. By this patch, dai_fmt can be automatically selected from each driver if both CPU / Codec driver had it. Automatically selectable *field* is depends on each drivers. For example, some driver want to select format "automatically", but want to select other fields "manually", because of complex limitation. Or other example, in case of both CPU and Codec are possible to be clock provider, but the quality was different. In these case, user need/want to *manually* select each fields from Sound Card driver. This .auto_selectable_formats can set priority. For example, no limitaion format can be HI priority, supported but has picky limitation format can be next priority, etc. It uses Sound Card specified fields preferentially, and try to select non-specific fields from CPU and Codec driver automatically if all drivers have .auto_selectable_formats. In other words, we can select all dai_fmt via Sound Card driver same as before. ASoC: core: Add component pin control functions It's often the case that a codec driver will need to control its own pins. However, if a name_prefix has been applied to this codec it must be included in the name passed to any of the snd_soc_dapm_x_pin() functions. The behaviour of the existing pin control functions is reasonable, since you may want to search for a fully-specified name within the scope of an entire card. This means that we can't apply the prefix in these functions because it will break card-scope searches. Constructing a prefixed string "manually" in codec drivers leads to a lot of repetition of the same code. To make this tidier in codec drivers this patch adds a new set of equivalent functions that take a struct snd_soc_component instead of a dapm context and automatically add the component's name_prefix to the given name. This makes it a simple change in codec drivers to be prefix-safe. The new functions are not quite trivial enough to be inlines and the compiler won't be able to compile-away any part of them. Although it looks somewhat inefficient to have to allocate a temporary buffer and combine strings, the current design of the widget list doesn't lend itself to a more optimized implementation - it's a single list of all widgets on a card and is searched linearly for a matching string. As pin state changes are generally low-frequency events it's unlikely to be a significant issue - at least not enough to rewrite the widget list handling just for this. ASoC: Add more natural support for no-DMA DAIs Since we can now support multiple platforms allow machines to not specify a platform in a DAI link. Since the rest of the code requires that we have a struct device for all objects we do this by substituting in a dummy device that we register automatically. ASoC: Add bit clock rate calculator utility functions Many devices need to calculate the bit clock rate desired to work out the clock configuration required for the device. Provide utility functions to do this using both hw_params structures and raw numbers. Signed-off-by: Mark Brown <broonie@opensource.wolfsonmicro.com> Acked-by: Liam Girdwood <lrg@slimlogic.co.uk>
