ASoC: Intel: Boards: Fix NULL pointer deref in BYT/CHT boards Since commit 13f58267cda3 ("ASoC: soc.h: don't create dummy Component via COMP_DUMMY()") dummy snd_soc_dai_link.codecs entries no longer have a name set. This means that when looking for the codec dai_link the machine driver can no longer unconditionally run strcmp() on snd_soc_dai_link.codecs[0].name since this may now be NULL. Add a check for snd_soc_dai_link.codecs[0].name being NULL to all BYT/CHT machine drivers to avoid NULL pointer dereferences in their probe() methods. ASoC: Intel: bytcr_rt5640: Add new swapped-speakers quirk Some BYTCR x86 tablets with a rt5640 codec have the left and right channels of their speakers swapped. Add a new BYT_RT5640_SWAPPED_SPEAKERS quirk for this which sets cfg-spk:swapped in the components string to let userspace know about the swapping so that the UCM profile can configure the mixer to correct this. Enable this new quirk on the Medion Lifetab S10346 which has its speakers swapped. ASoC: Intel: bytcr_rt5640: Convert to platform remove callback returning void The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by returning an error code. However the value returned is (mostly) ignored and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new() which already returns void. Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove callback to the void returning variant. ASoC: Intel: bytcr_rt5640: Add support for external GPIO jack-detect Some boards have the codec IRQ hooked-up as normally, so the driver can still do things like headset vs headphones and button-press detection, but instead of using one of the JD pins of the codec, an external GPIO is used to report the jack-presence switch status of the jack. Add support for boards which have this setup and which specify which external GPIO to use in the special Android AMCR0F28 ACPI device. And add a quirk for the Asus TF103C tablet which uses this setup. ASoC: Intel: bytcr_rt5640: Add support for HP Elite Pad 1000G2 jack-detect The HP Elitepad 1000 G2 tablet has 2 headset jacks: 1. on the dock which uses the output of the codecs built-in HP-amp + the standard IN2 input which is always used with the headset-jack. 2. on the tablet itself, this uses the line-out of the codec + an external HP-amp, which gets enabled by the ALC5642 codec's GPIO1 pin; and IN1 for the headset-mic. The codec's GPIO1 is also its only IRQ output pin, so this means that the codec's IRQ cannot be used on this tablet. Instead the jack-detect is connected directly to GPIOs on the main SoC. The dock has a helper chip which also detects if a headset-mic is present or not, so there are 2 GPIOs for the jack-detect status of the dock. The tablet jack uses a single GPIO which indicates if a jack is present or not. Differentiating between headphones vs a headset on the tablet jack is done by using the usual mic-bias over-current-detection mechanism. Add support for this unique setup, this support gets enabled on this tablet through a new BYT_RT5640_JD_HP_ELITEP_1000G2 quirk. ASoC: Intel: bytct_rt5640: Add a separate "Headset Mic 2" DAPM pin for the mic on the 2nd jack In order to be able to do jack-detection reporting for the mic contact on the 2nd jack found on some devices, the DAPM topology needs to have a separate DAPM pin/input for that microphone, instead of re-using the "Internal Mic" pin which is normally used together with the IN1P input of the codec. Using the "Internal Mic" dapm-pin-switch for this in a snd_soc_jack_pin to report hotplug events causes the "Internal Mic" pin to get deactivated when unplugging a headset from the 2nd jack, thus turning off the actual Internal Mic (typically a pair of digital mics on devices with 2 jacks). ASoC: Intel: bytcr_rt5640: Use cfg-lineout:2 in the components string Use "cfg-lineout:2" in the components string on boards with a lineout instead of "cfg-lineout:1", this better mirrors the speaker part of the components string where we use "cfg-spk:1" for devices with a single speaker and "cfg-spk:2" for stereo speakers. The lineout is stereo by default, so using ":2" makes more sense, this way we keep ":1" reserved in case we ever encounter a device with a mono lineout. We can make this change without breaking userspace because no kernel has shipped with "cfg-lineout:1" in the component-string yet; and there also are no userspace bits (UCM profiles) checking for this yet. Two of three machine drivers using this search don't deal with errors and the one which does (bytcr_rt5651) returns -ENODEV, which doesn't make sense here: an alternate driver will not be probed. ASoC: Intel: boards: harden codec property handling In current ACPI-based devices, the DSDT does not include any of the properties required by the codec driver. This is not an ACPI limitation proper since the _DSD method could be used, as done for Camera and SoundWire in newer platforms. For legacy devices, there is unfortunately no other option than using a work-around: we add properties to the codec device from the machine driver. To avoid any issues with the codec driver being unbound, we need to keep a reference to the codec device until the card is removed. ASoC: Intel: bytcr_rt5640: Fix HP ElitePad 1000 G2 quirk The HP Elitepad 1000 G2 has 2 headset jacks: 1. on the dock which uses the output of the codecs built-in HP-amp + the standard IN2 input which is always used with the headset-jack. 2. on the tablet itself, this uses the line-out of the codec, combined with an external HP-amp + IN1 for the headset-mic. Fix the HP ElitePad 1000 G2 to properly reflect this now that the machine-driver supports this setup. Note this also changes the mapping for the internal mic. from IN1 (which was pointing to the 2nd headset-jack mic) to DMIC2 which is the actual input for the internal mics. ASoC: Intel: bytcr_rt5640: Add used AIF to the components string Depending on which AIF is used the UCM profile needs to setup a different path through the rt5640's "Digital Mixer Path" graph. ATM the UCM profiles solve this by just enabling paths to the outputs / from the input from both AIF1 and AIF2 and then relying on the DAPM framework to power-down the parts of the graph connected to the unused AIF. But in order to be able to use hardware-volumecontrol and to use the hardware mute controls, which are necessary for mute LED control, the UCM profiles need to know which AIF is actually being used. Add a new "aif:1" or "aif:2" part to the component string to provide info about the used AIF to userspace / to the UCM profiles. Note the size of byt_rt5640_components is not increased because the size of 32 chars already is big enough. While doing this I accidentally also copied and kept the non-standard OVCD_TH_1500UA setting used on those models. This too low threshold is causing headsets to often be seen as headphones (without a headset-mic) and when correctly identified it is causing ghost play/pause button-presses to get detected. ASoC: Intel: bytcr_rt5640: Add quirk for the Mele PCG03 Mini PC Add a quirk for the Mele PCG03 Mini PC, being a Mini PC this device has no speakers and no internal microphone. To make matters worse the speaker output pins are shorted (to gnd or to each other?) and SPKVDD is provided. So trying to output sound on the speakers leads to shorting SPKVDD, this leads to a power dip after which the codec is an unknown state. Sometimes it drops of the i2c bus, sometimes it does still respond to i2c transfers, but is otherwise not functional. TL;DR: trying to use the speaker outputs on this model is BAD. Besides not having speakers / an internal mic, this is a Bay Trail CR device without a CHAN package in ACPI, so we default to SSP0-AIF2 as codec connection. But the device is actually using SSP0-AIF1, so we need to quirk that too. ASoC: Intel: byt/cht: set pm ops dynamically The Atom/SST driver does not rely on ASoC power management, but the SOF driver does. Rather than using a hard-coded build-time assignment, we can set this pm_ops dynamically depending on what the parent is. That will remove the last build-time dependency and allow for coexistence of both SST and SOF drivers for Baytrail/Cherrytrail. Simplify to use "sof-bytcht <codec_name>" pattern for all byt* machine drivers. The sof- prefix is added by the core. A generic "SOF" driver name is used, and UCMv2 will detect the configuration for this driver by testing the card name. Legacy uses are unmodified. ASoC: Intel: bytcr_rt5640: Set card long_name based on quirks Many X86 devices using a BYT SoC + RT5640 codec are cheap devices with generic DMI strings, causing snd_soc_set_dmi_name() to fail to set a long_name, making it impossible for userspace to have a correct UCM profile which only uses inputs / outputs which are actually hooked up on the device. Our quirks already specify which input the internal mic is connected to and if a single (mono) speaker is used or if the device has stereo speakers. This commit sets a long_name based on the quirks so that userspace can have UCM profiles doing the right thing based on the long_name. ASoC: Intel: bytcr_rt5640: Add quirks for various devices Even with our recently tweaked defaults, quite a few bytcr_rt5640 devices still need quirks to be fully functional. This commits adds quirks where necessary for the 16 bytcr_rt5640 devices I have access to. The quirks are added for the following reasons: 1) Devices with only one speaker need the mono quirk to avoid driving an unused and potentially short-circuited output. 8 of my sample of 16 devs are mono, 4 of these would work with the defaults if it were not for their mono speaker. 2) Devices using a different input for the internal mic then the default, this is the case for 6 of my sample of 16 devices. 3) BYTCR devices without an ACPI channel map, which do not work with the default of SSP0-AIF2, this is the case for 2 of my sample of 16 devices. 4) Devices which need non-default jack-detect settings, this is the case for 6 of my sample of 16 devices. This commit add quirks for the following devices: Acer Iconia Tab 8 W1-810 Chuwi Vi8 HP Pavilion X2 10-n000nd HP Stream 7 I.T. ASoC: Intel: bytcr_rt5640: Unify BYTCR input defaults Currently we've 2 places with BYTCR defaults: 1. The generic catch-all DMI_SYS_VENDOR=="Insyde" DMI quirk which selects SSP0-AIF1 for generic Insyde BYTCR tablets without the ACPI channel package; and 2. the defaults in the if (is_bytcr) {} code block. Currently these are not identical, both select IN3 as the internal mic output, but the "Insyde" DMI quirk leaves out the DIFF_MIC quirk. The DIFF_MIC quirk should be enabled by default, because enabling diff. input helps a lot for devices with a differential mic, where as it is a nop on devices with a normal mic. This commit adds the DIFF_MIC quirk to the "Insyde" DMI quirk path, by adding a new BYTCR_INPUT_DEFAULTS define and using that in both code paths which set BYTCR defaults. Having a single place where the BYTCR input defaults are defined also allows defining jack-detect defaults in a single place in a follow-up commit. This function is only set as ".probe" in "struct platform_driver". Despite never getting called from atomic context, snd_byt_rt5640_mc_probe() calls devm_kzalloc() with GFP_ATOMIC, which waits busily for allocation. GFP_ATOMIC is not necessary and can be replaced with GFP_KERNEL, to avoid busy waiting and improve the possibility of sucessful allocation. ASoC: Intel: boards: remove hard-coded compressed dailinks The hard-coded compressed dailinks are not supported using publicly-available firmwares, which creates unnecessary user confusion [1]. Even if the firmware was available, the mainline code does not have the required .dynamic=1 and .dpcm_playback=1 fields so probably never worked as is, and last and they conflict with topology-defined streams. Remove them and move on. This can be re-enabled with SOF later in a more flexible manner. With the fix in 'commit d31fd43c0f9a ("clk: x86: Do not gate clocks enabled by the firmware")' the firmware-managed clocks are not impacted by enable/disable requests make at the driver level, and the rates are identical. Remove all checks for Baytrail and use devm_clk_get() unconditionally. Tested on Asus T100HA (CHT) and Asus T100TAF (BYT) Note that the RT5640 and RT5645 machine drivers need to keep some checks for Valleyview to check for Baytrail-CR. ASoC: bytcr_rt5640: Allow quirk set via module option The bytcr-rt5640 driver has a few quirk setups depending on the board, where the quirk value is set by DMI matching. When you have a new device to add the support, you often experience to try the different quirk by trial-and-error. Or, you may have a development model that still has no proper DMI string. In either case, you'd need to compile the driver at each time. This patch introduces a module option to override the quirk value on the fly. User can boot like snd-soc-sst-bytcr-rt5640.quirk=0x4004 to override the default value without recompilation. It's a raw value, so user needs to check the source code for the meaning of each bit. ASoC: Intel: bytcr_rt5640: fallback mechanism if MCLK is not enabled Commit df1a2776a795 ("ASoC: Intel: bytcr_rt5640: add MCLK support") was merged but the corresponding clock framework patches have not, after being bumped from audio to clock to x86 domains. The missing clock-related patches result in a regression starting with 4.9 with the audio card not being created. Rather than reverting this commit and all following updates already queued up for 4.10, handle run-time dependency on MCLK and fall back to the previous bit-clock mode. This provides the same functionality as in 4.8 for Baytrail devices. On Baytrail-CR most devices remain silent with this fallback but additional patches are needed anyway. As suggested by Mark Brown, the fallback is only allowed with -ENOENT, all other run-time errors, including -EPROBE_DEFER, will stop the probe with no sound card registered. ASoC: Intel: detect audio routing with CHAN package Baytrail-CR devices usually expose information in the DSDT which can be used to auto-detect AIF1/AIF2 connections. The CHAN package contains two integers, the first one describes the AIF number (1: AIF1, 2: AIF2) and the second the MCLK value (ignored in this patch) For example the following information is found in Lenovo 100s: Device (RTEK) { [...] Name (CHAN, Package (0x02) { One, 0x017D7840 }) While on Asus T100TAF the package values are: Name (CHAN, Package (0x02) { 0x02, 0x017D7840 }) This patch relies on the new common routine to extract a package exposed by a device indexed with the HID value. The CHAN package contents are queried from the machine driver and stored in a structure. If this auto-detection fails (missing or bad package in the BIOS), the routing falls back to SSP0-AIF2. Note that quirks may still be needed to support mono speakers or microphone, but this should reduce the number of issues with Baytrail significantly.
