ALSA: ppc/powermac: Convert to platform remove callback returning void The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by returning an error code. However the value returned is (mostly) ignored and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new() which already returns void. Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove callback to the void returning variant. ALSA: move snd_powermac's probe function to .devinit.text A pointer to snd_pmac_probe is passed to the core via platform_driver_register and so the function must not disappear when the .init sections are discarded. Otherwise (when having HOTPLUG=y) unbinding and binding a device to the driver via sysfs will result in an oops as does a device being registered late. An alternative to this patch is using platform_driver_probe instead of platform_driver_register plus removing the pointer to the probe function from the struct platform_driver. [ALSA] make snd-powermac load even when it can't bind the device This patch makes snd-powermac load when it can't bind the device right away. That's the expected behaviour for hotplugging, but fixes an important problem I was seeing with doing a modprobe snd-powermac with a version that refuses loading on machines with layout-id: snd-powermac would create a bunch of uevents and then refuse to load, the uevents causing udev to reload it again, ad eternum. [PATCH] ppc32: add sound support for Mac Mini This patch applies on top of my previous g5 related sound patches and adds support for the Mac Mini to the PowerMac Alsa driver. However, I haven't found any kind of HW support for volume control on this machine. If it exist, it's well hidden. That means that you probably want to make sure you use software with the ability to do soft volume control, or use Alsa 0.9 pre-release with the softvol plugin. Linux-2.6.12-rc2 Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
