ALSA: hda: Downgrade BDL table overflow message

When BDL table entry overflow happens, the driver spews an error
message explicitly. But basically this condition can be triggered
easily by an application and it may flood of error logs
unnecessarily.

Downgrade the error message with dev_dbg() as a debug message
instead.

ALSA: hda: Refer to correct stream index at loops

In a couple of loops over the all streams, we check the bitmap against
the loop counter. A more correct reference would be, however, the
index of each stream, instead.

This patch corrects the check of bitmaps to the stream index.

Note that this change doesn't fix anything for now; all existing
drivers set up the stream indices properly, hence the loop count is
always equal with the stream index. That said, this change is only
for consistency.

ALSA: hda: Add code_loading parameter to stream setup

AudioDSP firmware is the one who kicks SDxFIFOS calculation when a
stream is decoupled mode. During firmware bring up procedure, there is
no firmware running and the code-loading stream is always a decoupled
one. So, there is none to trigger the calculation and we end up with
false-positive timeout (-110) messages.

While AudioDSP drivers assign streams exclusively of HOST or LINK type,
nothing blocks a user to attempt to assign a COUPLED stream. As
supplied substream instance may be a stub, what is the case when
code-loading, such scenario ends with null-ptr-deref.

ALSA/ASoC: hda: move SPIB/DRMS functionality from ext layer

The SPIB and DRMS capabilities are orthogonal to the DSP enablement
and can be used whether the stream is coupled or not.

The existing code partitioning makes limited sense, the capabilities
are parsed at the sound/hda level but helpers are located in
sound/hda/ext.

This patch moves all the SPIB/DRMS functionality to the sound/hda
layer. This reduces the complexity of the sound/hda/ext layer which is
now limited to handling the multi-link extensions and stream
coupling/decoupling helpers.

Note that this is an iso-functionality code move and rename, the
HDaudio legacy driver would need additional changes to make use of
these capabilities.

ALSA: hda: ext: fix locking in stream_release

The snd_hdac_ext_stream_release() routine uses the bus reg_lock, but
releases it before calling snd_hdac_stream_release() where the bus
reg_lock is taken again.

This creates a timing window where the link stream release could test
an invalid 'opened' boolean status and fail to recouple the host and
link parts.

Fix by exposing a locked version of snd_hdac_stream_release() and use
it without releasing the spinlock.

ALSA: hda: Make proper use of timecounter

HDA uses a timecounter to read a hardware clock running at 24 MHz. The
conversion factor is set with a mult value of 125 and a shift value of 0,
which is not converting the hardware clock to nanoseconds, it is converting
to 1/3 nanoseconds because the conversion factor from 24Mhz to nanoseconds
is 125/3. The usage sites divide the "nanoseconds" value returned by
timecounter_read() by 3 to get a real nanoseconds value.

There is a lengthy comment in azx_timecounter_init() explaining this
choice. That comment makes blatantly wrong assumptions about how
timecounters work and what can overflow.

The comment says:

* Applying the 1/3 factor as part of the multiplication
* requires at least 20 bits for a decent precision, however
* overflows occur after about 4 hours or less, not a option.

timecounters operate on time deltas between two readouts of a clock and use
the mult/shift pair to calculate a precise nanoseconds value:

delta_nsec = (delta_clock * mult) >> shift;

The fractional part is also taken into account and preserved to prevent
accumulated rounding errors. For details see cyclecounter_cyc2ns().

The mult/shift pair has to be chosen so that the multiplication of the
maximum expected delta value does not result in a 64bit overflow. As the
counter wraps around on 32bit, the maximum observable delta between two
reads is (1 << 32) - 1 which is about 178.9 seconds.

That in turn means the maximum multiplication factor which fits into an u32
will not cause a 64bit overflow ever because it's guaranteed that:

((1 << 32) - 1) ^ 2 < (1 << 64)

The resulting correct multiplication factor is 2796202667 and the shift
value is 26, i.e. 26 bit precision. The overflow of the multiplication
would happen exactly at a clock readout delta of 6597069765 which is way
after the wrap around of the hardware clock at around 274.8 seconds which
is off from the claimed 4 hours by more than an order of magnitude.

If the counter ever wraps around the last read value then the calculation
is off by the number of wrap arounds times 178.9 seconds because the
overflow cannot be observed.

Use clocks_calc_mult_shift(), which calculates the most accurate mult/shift
pair based on the given clock frequency, and remove the bogus comment along
with the divisions at the readout sites.

Stripe control programming is governed by following formula, which is
referenced from the HD Audio specification(Revision 1.0a).

Currently above is implemented in snd_hdac_get_stream_stripe_ctl().
This patch introduces a structure member to store the default factor
of '8'. If any HW wants to use a different value, this member can be
easily updated.

ALSA: hda: Reset stream if DMA RUN bit not cleared

Tegra HDA has FIFO size which can hold upto 10 audio frames to support
DVFS. When HDA DMA RUN bit is set to 0 to stop the stream, the DMA RUN
bit will be cleared to 0 only after transferring all the remaining audio
frames queued up in the fifo. This is not in sync with spec which states
the controller will stop transmitting(output) in the beginning of the
next frame for the relevant stream.

The above behavior with Tegra HDA was resulting in machine check error
during the system suspend flow with active audio playback with below kernel
error logs.

This was due to the fifo has more than one audio frame when the DMA
RUN bit is set to 0 during system suspend flow and the timeout handling in
snd_hdac_stream_sync() was not designed to handle this scenario. So the
DMA will continue running even after timeout hit until all remaining
audio frames in the fifo are transferred, but the suspend flow will try
to reset the controller and turn off the hda clocks without the knowledge
of the DMA is still running and could result in mc-err.

The above issue can be resolved by doing stream reset with the help of
snd_hdac_stream_reset() which would ensure the DMA RUN bit is cleared
if the timeout was hit in snd_hdac_stream_sync().

ALSA: hda: Fix regression by strip mask fix

The commit e38e486d66e2 ("ALSA: hda: Modify stream stripe mask only
when needed") tried to address the regression by the unconditional
application of the stripe mask, but this caused yet another
regression for the previously working devices. Namely, the patch
clears the azx_dev->stripe flag at snd_hdac_stream_clear(), but this
may be called multiple times before restarting the stream, so this
ended up with clearance of the flag for the whole time.

This patch fixes the regression by moving the azx_dev->stripe flag
clearance at the counter-part, the close callback of HDMI codec
driver instead.

ALSA: hda: Modify stream stripe mask only when needed

The recent commit in HD-audio stream management for changing the
stripe control seems causing a regression on some platforms. The
stripe control is currently used only by HDMI codec, and applying the
stripe mask unconditionally may lead to scratchy and static noises as
seen on some MacBooks.

For addressing the regression, this patch changes the stream
management code to apply the stripe mask conditionally only when the
codec driver requested.

ALSA: hda: Set fifo_size for both playback and capture streams

Currently we set hdac_stream.fifo_size field only for the playback
stream by some odd reason I forgot, while this field isn't referred in
any places. Actually this fifo_size field would have been required in
the position report correction for VIA chipset, but due to the lack of
the fifo_size set for capture streams, snd-hda-intel driver fetches
the register by itself.

This patch straightens and simplifies the code by setting the
fifo_size field for both playback and capture streams, and use it in
the HD-audio controller driver.

ALSA: hda: Remove page allocation redirection

The HD-audio core allocates and releases pages via driver's specific
dma_alloc_pages and dma_free_pages ops defined in bus->io_ops. This
was because some platforms require the uncached pages and the handling
of page flags had to be done locally in the driver code.

Since the recent change in ALSA core memory allocator, we can simply
pass SNDRV_DMA_TYPE_DEV_UC for the uncached pages, and the only
difference became about this type to be passed to the core allocator.
That is, it's good time for cleaning up the mess.

This patch changes the allocation code in HD-audio core to call the
core allocator directly so that we get rid of dma_alloc_pages and
dma_free_pages io_ops. If a driver needs the uncached pages, it has
to set bus->dma_type right after the bus initialization.

This is merely a code refactoring and shouldn't bring any behavior
changes.

For ca0132 codec, azx_dev->stream is NULL during firmware loading.

ALSA: hda: program stripe bits for controller

Platforms having multiple SORs and hdmi/dp sinks require higher
bandwidth to support simultaneous playbacks of higher resolution.
If hda controller supports multiple SDO lines, STRIPE can be used
to indicate how many of the SDO lines the stream should be striped
across.

During stream start stripe control bits are programmed to use given
number of sdo lines and the same is cleared during stream stop.

ALSA: hda: Add api to program stripe control bits

Controllers and codecs can support striping of audio out across
multiple SDO lines. The number of supported SDO lines can be
specific to chip. GCAP register can be read to know the maximum
supported SDO lines.

snd_hdac_get_stream_stripe_ctl() is exposed to program stripe bits
on controller and codec side.
stripe value: 0 for 1SDO, 1 for 2SDO, 2 for 4SDO lines, etc.,

ALSA: hda - Avoid tricky macros

The macros _snd_hdac_chip_read() and *_write() expand to different
types (b,w,l) per their argument. They were thought to be used only
internally for other snd_hdac_chip_*() macros, but in some situations
we need to call these directly, and they are way too ugly.

Instead of saving a few lines, we just write these macros explicitly
with the types, so that they can be used in a saner way.

ALSA: hda - Fix NULL dereference from CA0132 DSP loader

The CA0132 DSP loader leads to NULL deference since the recent
transition to HDA core code, as it unconditionally accesses
hdac_stream->substream->runtime. For DSP loading, the substream
shouldn't be assigned.

This patch addresses the NULL dereference above in addition to assure
the substream is cleared while DSP loading.

ALSA: hda - Add the controller helper codes to hda-core module

This patch adds the controller helper codes to hda-core library.
The I/O access ops are added to the bus ops. The CORB/RIRB, the basic
attributes like irq# and iomap address, some locks and the list of
streams are added to the bus object, together with the stream object
and its helpers.

Currently the codes are just copied from the legacy driver, so you can
find duplicated codes in both directories. Only constants are removed
from the original hda_controller.h. More integration work will follow
in the later patches.
