geneve: fix header validation in geneve[6]_xmit_skb syzbot is able to trigger an uninit-value in geneve_xmit() [1] Problem : While most ip tunnel helpers (like ip_tunnel_get_dsfield()) uses skb_protocol(skb, true), pskb_inet_may_pull() is only using skb->protocol. If anything else than ETH_P_IPV6 or ETH_P_IP is found in skb->protocol, pskb_inet_may_pull() does nothing at all. If a vlan tag was provided by the caller (af_packet in the syzbot case), the network header might not point to the correct location, and skb linear part could be smaller than expected. Add skb_vlan_inet_prepare() to perform a complete mac validation. Use this in geneve for the moment, I suspect we need to adopt this more broadly. v4 - Jakub reported v3 broke l2_tos_ttl_inherit.sh selftest - Only call __vlan_get_protocol() for vlan types. ipip,ip_tunnel,sit: Add FOU support for externally controlled ipip devices Today ipip devices in collect-metadata mode don't allow for sending FOU or GUE encapsulated packets. This patch lifts the restriction by adding a struct ip_tunnel_encap to the tunnel metadata. On the egress path, the members of this struct can be set by the bpf_skb_set_fou_encap kfunc via a BPF tc-hook. Instead of dropping packets wishing to use additional UDP encapsulation, ip_md_tunnel_xmit now evaluates the contents of this struct and adds the corresponding FOU or GUE header. Furthermore, it is making sure that additional header bytes are taken into account for PMTU discovery. On the ingress path, an ipip device in collect-metadata mode will fill this struct and a BPF tc-hook can obtain the information via a call to the bpf_skb_get_fou_encap kfunc. The minor change to ip_tunnel_encap, which now takes a pointer to struct ip_tunnel_encap instead of struct ip_tunnel, allows us to control FOU encap type and parameters on a per packet-level. ip_tunnel: Respect tunnel key's "flow_flags" in IP tunnels Commit 451ef36bd229 ("ip_tunnels: Add new flow flags field to ip_tunnel_key") added a "flow_flags" member to struct ip_tunnel_key which was later used by the commit in the fixes tag to avoid dropping packets with sources that aren't locally configured when set in bpf_set_tunnel_key(). VXLAN and GENEVE were made to respect this flag, ip tunnels like IPIP and GRE were not. This commit fixes this omission by making ip_tunnel_init_flow() receive the flow flags from the tunnel key in the relevant collect_md paths. ip_gre, ip6_gre: Fix race condition on o_seqno in collect_md mode As pointed out by Jakub Kicinski, currently using TUNNEL_SEQ in collect_md mode is racy for [IP6]GRE[TAP] devices. Consider the following sequence of events: 1. An [IP6]GRE[TAP] device is created in collect_md mode using "ip link add ... external". "ip" ignores "[o]seq" if "external" is specified, so TUNNEL_SEQ is off, and the device is marked as NETIF_F_LLTX (i.e. it uses lockless TX); 2. Someone sets TUNNEL_SEQ on outgoing skb's, using e.g. bpf_skb_set_tunnel_key() in an eBPF program attached to this device; 3. gre_fb_xmit() or __gre6_xmit() processes these skb's: gre_build_header(skb, tun_hlen, flags, protocol, tunnel_id_to_key32(tun_info->key.tun_id), (flags & TUNNEL_SEQ) ? htonl(tunnel->o_seqno++) : 0); ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Since we are not using the TX lock (&txq->_xmit_lock), multiple CPUs may try to do this tunnel->o_seqno++ in parallel, which is racy. Fix it by making o_seqno atomic_t. As mentioned by Eric Dumazet in commit b790e01aee74 ("ip_gre: lockless xmit"), making o_seqno atomic_t increases "chance for packets being out of order at receiver" when NETIF_F_LLTX is on. Maybe a better fix would be: 1. Do not ignore "oseq" in external mode. Users MUST specify "oseq" if they want the kernel to allow sequencing of outgoing packets; 2. Reject all outgoing TUNNEL_SEQ packets if the device was not created with "oseq". Unfortunately, that would break userspace. We could now make [IP6]GRE[TAP] devices always NETIF_F_LLTX, but let us do it in separate patches to keep this fix minimal. tunnels: PMTU discovery support for directly bridged IP packets It's currently possible to bridge Ethernet tunnels carrying IP packets directly to external interfaces without assigning them addresses and routes on the bridged network itself: this is the case for UDP tunnels bridged with a standard bridge or by Open vSwitch. PMTU discovery is currently broken with those configurations, because the encapsulation effectively decreases the MTU of the link, and while we are able to account for this using PMTU discovery on the lower layer, we don't have a way to relay ICMP or ICMPv6 messages needed by the sender, because we don't have valid routes to it. On the other hand, as a tunnel endpoint, we can't fragment packets as a general approach: this is for instance clearly forbidden for VXLAN by RFC 7348, section 4.3: VTEPs MUST NOT fragment VXLAN packets. Intermediate routers may fragment encapsulated VXLAN packets due to the larger frame size. The destination VTEP MAY silently discard such VXLAN fragments. The same paragraph recommends that the MTU over the physical network accomodates for encapsulations, but this isn't a practical option for complex topologies, especially for typical Open vSwitch use cases. Further, it states that: Other techniques like Path MTU discovery (see [RFC1191] and [RFC1981]) MAY be used to address this requirement as well. Now, PMTU discovery already works for routed interfaces, we get route exceptions created by the encapsulation device as they receive ICMP Fragmentation Needed and ICMPv6 Packet Too Big messages, and we already rebuild those messages with the appropriate MTU and route them back to the sender. Add the missing bits for bridged cases: - checks in skb_tunnel_check_pmtu() to understand if it's appropriate to trigger a reply according to RFC 1122 section 3.2.2 for ICMP and RFC 4443 section 2.4 for ICMPv6. This function is already called by UDP tunnels - a new function generating those ICMP or ICMPv6 replies. We can't reuse icmp_send() and icmp6_send() as we don't see the sender as a valid destination. This doesn't need to be generic, as we don't cover any other type of ICMP errors given that we only provide an encapsulation function to the sender While at it, make the MTU check in skb_tunnel_check_pmtu() accurate: we might receive GSO buffers here, and the passed headroom already includes the inner MAC length, so we don't have to account for it a second time (that would imply three MAC headers on the wire, but there are just two). This issue became visible while bridging IPv6 packets with 4500 bytes of payload over GENEVE using IPv4 with a PMTU of 4000. Given the 50 bytes of encapsulation headroom, we would advertise MTU as 3950, and we would reject fragmented IPv6 datagrams of 3958 bytes size on the wire. We're exclusively dealing with network MTU here, though, so we could get Ethernet frames up to 3964 octets in that case. v2: - moved skb_tunnel_check_pmtu() to ip_tunnel_core.c (David Ahern) - split IPv4/IPv6 functions (David Ahern) Signed-off-by: Stefano Brivio <sbrivio@redhat.com> Reviewed-by: David Ahern <dsahern@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: David S. udp: Support for error handlers of tunnels with arbitrary destination port ICMP error handling is currently not possible for UDP tunnels not employing a receiving socket with local destination port matching the remote one, because we have no way to look them up. Add an err_handler tunnel encapsulation operation that can be exported by tunnels in order to pass the error to the protocol implementing the encapsulation. We can't easily use a lookup function as we did for VXLAN and GENEVE, as protocol error handlers, which would be in turn called by implementations of this new operation, handle the errors themselves, together with the tunnel lookup. Without a socket, we can't be sure which encapsulation error handler is the appropriate one: encapsulation handlers (the ones for FoU and GUE introduced in the next patch, e.g.) will need to check the new error codes returned by protocol handlers to figure out if errors match the given encapsulation, and, in turn, report this error back, so that we can try all of them in __udp{4,6}_lib_err_encap_no_sk() until we have a match. v2: - Name all arguments in err_handler prototypes (David Miller) Signed-off-by: Stefano Brivio <sbrivio@redhat.com> Reviewed-by: Sabrina Dubroca <sd@queasysnail.net> Signed-off-by: David S. License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no license Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license. By default all files without license information are under the default license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2. Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0' SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text. This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and Philippe Ombredanne. How this work was done: Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of the use cases: - file had no licensing information it it. - file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it, - file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information, Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords. The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files. The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s) to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was: - Files considered eligible had to be source code files. - Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5 lines of source - File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5 lines). All documentation files were explicitly excluded. The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license identifiers to apply. - when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was considered to have no license information in it, and the top level COPYING file license applied. For non */uapi/* files that summary was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 11139 and resulted in the first patch in this series. If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930 and resulted in the second patch in this series. - if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in it (per prior point). Results summary: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------ GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 270 GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 169 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause) 21 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 17 LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 15 GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 14 ((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 5 LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 4 LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1 and that resulted in the third patch in this series. - when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became the concluded license(s). - when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a license but the other didn't, or they both detected different licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred. - In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics). - When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. - If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier, the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later in time. In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so they are related. Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks in about 15000 files. In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the correct identifier. Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch version early this week with: - a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected license ids and scores - reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+ files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct - reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the different types of files to be modified. These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to generate the patches. ip_tunnel: Allow policy-based routing through tunnels This feature allows the administrator to set an fwmark for packets traversing a tunnel. This allows the use of independent routing tables for tunneled packets without the use of iptables. There is no concept of per-packet routing decisions through IPv4 tunnels, so this implementation does not need to work with per-packet route lookups as the v6 implementation may (with IP6_TNL_F_USE_ORIG_FWMARK). Further, since the v4 tunnel ioctls share datastructures (which can not be trivially modified) with the kernel's internal tunnel configuration structures, the mark attribute must be stored in the tunnel structure itself and passed as a parameter when creating or changing tunnel attributes. "int" being used as an array index needs to be sign-extended to 64-bit before being used. void f(long *p, int i) { g(p[i]); } roughly translates to movsx rsi, esi mov rdi, [rsi+...] call g MOVSX is 3 byte instruction which isn't necessary if the variable is unsigned because x86_64 is zero extending by default. Now, there is net_generic() function which, you guessed it right, uses "int" as an array index: static inline void *net_generic(const struct net *net, int id) { ... ptr = ng->ptr[id - 1]; ... } And this function is used a lot, so those sign extensions add up. Patch snipes ~1730 bytes on allyesconfig kernel (without all junk messing with code generation): add/remove: 0/0 grow/shrink: 70/598 up/down: 396/-2126 (-1730) Unfortunately some functions actually grow bigger. This is a semmingly random artefact of code generation with register allocator being used differently. gcc decides that some variable needs to live in new r8+ registers and every access now requires REX prefix. Or it is shifted into r12, so [r12+0] addressing mode has to be used which is longer than [r8] However, overall balance is in negative direction: add/remove: 0/0 grow/shrink: 70/598 up/down: 396/-2126 (-1730) function old new delta nfsd4_lock 3886 3959 +73 tipc_link_build_proto_msg 1096 1140 +44 mac80211_hwsim_new_radio 2776 2808 +32 tipc_mon_rcv 1032 1058 +26 svcauth_gss_legacy_init 1413 1429 +16 tipc_bcbase_select_primary 379 392 +13 nfsd4_exchange_id 1247 1260 +13 nfsd4_setclientid_confirm 782 793 +11 ... put_client_renew_locked 494 480 -14 ip_set_sockfn_get 730 716 -14 geneve_sock_add 829 813 -16 nfsd4_sequence_done 721 703 -18 nlmclnt_lookup_host 708 686 -22 nfsd4_lockt 1085 1063 -22 nfs_get_client 1077 1050 -27 tcf_bpf_init 1106 1076 -30 nfsd4_encode_fattr 5997 5930 -67 Total: Before=154856051, After=154854321, chg -0.00% Signed-off-by: Alexey Dobriyan <adobriyan@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: David S. tunnels: Remove encapsulation offloads on decap. If a packet is either locally encapsulated or processed through GRO it is marked with the offloads that it requires. However, when it is decapsulated these tunnel offload indications are not removed. This means that if we receive an encapsulated TCP packet, aggregate it with GRO, decapsulate, and retransmit the resulting frame on a NIC that does not support encapsulation, we won't be able to take advantage of hardware offloads even though it is just a simple TCP packet at this point. This fixes the problem by stripping off encapsulation offload indications when packets are decapsulated. The performance impacts of this bug are significant. In a test where a Geneve encapsulated TCP stream is sent to a hypervisor, GRO'ed, decapsulated, and bridged to a VM performance is improved by 60% (5Gbps->8Gbps) as a result of avoiding unnecessary segmentation at the VM tap interface. bpf, vxlan, geneve, gre: fix usage of dst_cache on xmit The assumptions from commit 0c1d70af924b ("net: use dst_cache for vxlan device"), 468dfffcd762 ("geneve: add dst caching support") and 3c1cb4d2604c ("net/ipv4: add dst cache support for gre lwtunnels") on dst_cache usage when ip_tunnel_info is used is unfortunately not always valid as assumed. While it seems correct for ip_tunnel_info front-ends such as OVS, eBPF however can fill in ip_tunnel_info for consumers like vxlan, geneve or gre with different remote dsts, tos, etc, therefore they cannot be assumed as packet independent. Right now vxlan, geneve, gre would cache the dst for eBPF and every packet would reuse the same entry that was first created on the initial route lookup. eBPF doesn't store/cache the ip_tunnel_info, so each skb may have a different one. Fix it by adding a flag that checks the ip_tunnel_info. Also the !tos test in vxlan needs to be handeled differently in this context as it is currently inferred from ip_tunnel_info as well if present. ip_tunnel_dst_cache_usable() helper is added for the three tunnel cases, which checks if we can use dst cache. vxlan, gre, geneve: Set a large MTU on ovs-created tunnel devices Prior to 4.3, openvswitch tunnel vports (vxlan, gre and geneve) could transmit vxlan packets of any size, constrained only by the ability to send out the resulting packets. 4.3 introduced netdevs corresponding to tunnel vports. These netdevs have an MTU, which limits the size of a packet that can be successfully encapsulated. The default MTU values are low (1500 or less), which is awkwardly small in the context of physical networks supporting jumbo frames, and leads to a conspicuous change in behaviour for userspace. Instead, set the MTU on openvswitch-created netdevs to be the relevant maximum (i.e. the maximum IP packet size minus any relevant overhead), effectively restoring the behaviour prior to 4.3. ip_tunnel: disable preemption when updating per-cpu tstats Drivers like vxlan use the recently introduced udp_tunnel_xmit_skb/udp_tunnel6_xmit_skb APIs. udp_tunnel6_xmit_skb makes use of ip6tunnel_xmit, and ip6tunnel_xmit, after sending the packet, updates the struct stats using the usual u64_stats_update_begin/end calls on this_cpu_ptr(dev->tstats). udp_tunnel_xmit_skb makes use of iptunnel_xmit, which doesn't touch tstats, so drivers like vxlan, immediately after, call iptunnel_xmit_stats, which does the same thing - calls u64_stats_update_begin/end on this_cpu_ptr(dev->tstats). While vxlan is probably fine (I don't know?), calling a similar function from, say, an unbound workqueue, on a fully preemptable kernel causes real issues: [ 188.434537] BUG: using smp_processor_id() in preemptible [00000000] code: kworker/u8:0/6 [ 188.435579] caller is debug_smp_processor_id+0x17/0x20 [ 188.435583] CPU: 0 PID: 6 Comm: kworker/u8:0 Not tainted 4.2.6 #2 [ 188.435607] Call Trace: [ 188.435611] [<ffffffff8234e936>] dump_stack+0x4f/0x7b [ 188.435615] [<ffffffff81915f3d>] check_preemption_disabled+0x19d/0x1c0 [ 188.435619] [<ffffffff81915f77>] debug_smp_processor_id+0x17/0x20 The solution would be to protect the whole this_cpu_ptr(dev->tstats)/u64_stats_update_begin/end blocks with disabling preemption and then reenabling it. ipv4: send arp replies to the correct tunnel When using ip lwtunnels, the additional data for xmit (basically, the actual tunnel to use) are carried in ip_tunnel_info either in dst->lwtstate or in metadata dst. When replying to ARP requests, we need to send the reply to the same tunnel the request came from. This means we need to construct proper metadata dst for ARP replies. We could perform another route lookup to get a dst entry with the correct lwtstate. However, this won't always ensure that the outgoing tunnel is the same as the incoming one, and it won't work anyway for IPv4 duplicate address detection. vxlan: Flow based tunneling Allows putting a VXLAN device into a new flow-based mode in which skbs with a ip_tunnel_info dst metadata attached will be encapsulated according to the instructions stored in there with the VXLAN device defaults taken into consideration. Similar on the receive side, if the VXLAN_F_COLLECT_METADATA flag is set, the packet processing will populate a ip_tunnel_info struct for each packet received and attach it to the skb using the new metadata dst. The metadata structure will contain the outer header and tunnel header fields which have been stripped off. Layers further up in the stack such as routing, tc or netfitler can later match on these fields and perform forwarding. It is the responsibility of upper layers to ensure that the flag is set if the metadata is needed. The flag limits the additional cost of metadata collecting based on demand. This prepares the VXLAN device to be steered by the routing and other subsystems which allows to support encapsulation for a large number of tunnel endpoints and tunnel ids through a single net_device which improves the scalability. It also allows for OVS to leverage this mode which in turn allows for the removal of the OVS specific VXLAN code. Because the skb is currently scrubed in vxlan_rcv(), the attachment of the new dst metadata is postponed until after scrubing which requires the temporary addition of a new member to vxlan_metadata. This member is removed again in a later commit after the indirect VXLAN receive API has been removed. ip_tunnel: Make ovs_tunnel_info and ovs_key_ipv4_tunnel generic Rename the tunnel metadata data structures currently internal to OVS and make them generic for use by all IP tunnels. Both structures are kernel internal and will stay that way. Their members are exposed to user space through individual Netlink attributes by OVS. It will therefore be possible to extend/modify these structures without affecting user ABI. Signed-off-by: Thomas Graf <tgraf@suug.ch> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

openvswitch: Support VXLAN Group Policy extension Introduces support for the group policy extension to the VXLAN virtual port. The extension is disabled by default and only enabled if the user has provided the respective configuration. ovs-vsctl add-port br0 vxlan0 -- \ set Interface vxlan0 type=vxlan options:exts=gbp The configuration interface to enable the extension is based on a new attribute OVS_VXLAN_EXT_GBP nested inside OVS_TUNNEL_ATTR_EXTENSION which can carry additional extensions as needed in the future. The group policy metadata is stored as binary blob (struct ovs_vxlan_opts) internally just like Geneve options but transported as nested Netlink attributes to user space. Renames the existing TUNNEL_OPTIONS_PRESENT to TUNNEL_GENEVE_OPT with the binary value kept intact, a new flag TUNNEL_VXLAN_OPT is introduced. The attributes OVS_TUNNEL_KEY_ATTR_VXLAN_OPTS and existing OVS_TUNNEL_KEY_ATTR_GENEVE_OPTS are implemented mutually exclusive. Signed-off-by: Thomas Graf <tgraf@suug.ch> Signed-off-by: David S. ip_tunnel(ipv4): fix tunnels with "local any remote $remote_ip" Ipv4 tunnels created with "local any remote $ip" didn't work properly since 7d442fab0 (ipv4: Cache dst in tunnels). 99% of packets sent via those tunnels had src addr = 0.0.0.0. That was because only dst_entry was cached, although fl4.saddr has to be cached too. Every time ip_tunnel_xmit used cached dst_entry (tunnel_rtable_get returned non-NULL), fl4.saddr was initialized with tnl_params->saddr (= 0 in our case), and wasn't changed until iptunnel_xmit(). This patch adds saddr to ip_tunnel->dst_cache, fixing this issue. Reported-by: Sergey Popov <pinkbyte@gentoo.org> Signed-off-by: Dmitry Popov <ixaphire@qrator.net> Signed-off-by: David S. ipv4: add a sock pointer to dst->output() path. In the dst->output() path for ipv4, the code assumes the skb it has to transmit is attached to an inet socket, specifically via ip_mc_output() : The sk_mc_loop() test triggers a WARN_ON() when the provider of the packet is an AF_PACKET socket. The dst->output() method gets an additional 'struct sock *sk' parameter. This needs a cascade of changes so that this parameter can be propagated from vxlan to final consumer.
