udf: Avoid invalid LVID used on mount udf_load_logicalvolint() loads logical volume integrity descriptors. Since there can be multiple blocks with LVIDs, we verify the contents of only the last (prevailing) LVID found. However if we fail to load the last LVID (either due to IO error or because it's checksum fails to match), we never perform the verification of validity of the LVID we are going to use. If such LVID contains invalid data, we can hit out-of-bounds access or similar issues. Fix the problem by verifying each LVID we are potentially going to accept. udf: Fix crash after seekdir udf_readdir() didn't validate the directory position it should start reading from. Thus when user uses lseek(2) on directory file descriptor it can trick udf_readdir() into reading from a position in the middle of directory entry which then upsets directory parsing code resulting in errors or even possible kernel crashes. Similarly when the directory is modified between two readdir calls, the directory position need not be valid anymore. Add code to validate current offset in the directory. This is actually rather expensive for UDF as we need to read from the beginning of the directory and parse all directory entries. This is because in UDF a directory is just a stream of data containing directory entries and since file names are fully under user's control we cannot depend on detecting magic numbers and checksums in the header of directory entry as a malicious attacker could fake them. We skip this step if we detect that nothing changed since the last readdir call. Reported-by: Nathan Wilson <nate@chickenbrittle.com> CC: stable@vger.kernel.org Signed-off-by: Jan Kara <jack@suse.cz>

udf: fix the problem that the disc content is not displayed When the capacity of the disc is too large (assuming the 4.7G specification), the disc (UDF file system) will be burned multiple times in the windows (Multisession Usage). When the remaining capacity of the CD is less than 300M (estimated value, for reference only), open the CD in the Linux system, the content of the CD is displayed as blank (the kernel will say "No VRS found"). Windows can display the contents of the CD normally. Through analysis, in the "fs/udf/super.c": udf_check_vsd function, the actual value of VSD_MAX_SECTOR_OFFSET may be much larger than 0x800000. According to the current code logic, it is found that the type of sbi->s_session is "__s32", when the remaining capacity of the disc is less than 300M (take a set of test values: sector=3154903040, sbi->s_session=1540464, sb->s_blocksize_bits=11 ), the calculation result of "sbi->s_session << sb->s_blocksize_bits" will overflow. Therefore, it is necessary to convert the type of s_session to "loff_t" (when udf_check_vsd starts, assign a value to _sector, which is also converted in this way), so that the result will not overflow, and then the content of the disc can be displayed normally. All other partitions shall not define a Freed Space Bitmap or a Freed Space Table. Rewritable partitions are used on media that require some form of preprocessing before re-writing data (for example legacy MO). Such partitions shall use Access Type 3. Overwritable partitions are used on media that do not require preprocessing before overwriting data (for example: CD-RW, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-RAM, BD-RE, HD DVD-Rewritable). Such partitions shall use Access Type 4. however older versions of the standard didn't have this wording and there are tools out there that create UDF filesystems with rewritable partitions but that don't contain a Freed Space Bitmap or a Freed Space Table on media that does not require pre-processing before overwriting a block. Instead, the descriptors are placed at the 2048- byte interval mandated for media with smaller blocks. This nonconformity currently prevents Linux from recognizing the filesystem as UDF. Modify the driver to tolerate a misformatted VRS on 4K media. [JK: Simplified descriptor checking] Signed-off-by: Steven J. Magnani <steve@digidescorp.com> Tested-by: Steven J. udf: Allow mounting volumes with incorrect identification strings Commit c26f6c615788 ("udf: Fix conversion of 'dstring' fields to UTF8") started to be more strict when checking whether converted strings are properly formatted. Sudip reports that there are DVDs where the volume identification string is actually too long - UDF reports: [ 632.309320] UDF-fs: incorrect dstring lengths (32/32) during mount and fails the mount. This is mostly harmless failure as we don't need volume identification (and even less volume set identification) for anything. So just truncate the volume identification string if it is too long and replace it with 'Invalid' if we just cannot convert it for other reasons. This keeps slightly incorrect media still mountable. treewide: kzalloc() -> kcalloc() The kzalloc() function has a 2-factor argument form, kcalloc(). This patch replaces cases of: kzalloc(a * b, gfp) with: kcalloc(a * b, gfp) as well as handling cases of: kzalloc(a * b * c, gfp) with: kzalloc(array3_size(a, b, c), gfp) as it's slightly less ugly than: kzalloc_array(array_size(a, b), c, gfp) This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like: kzalloc(4 * 1024, gfp) though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion. Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were dropped, since they're redundant. udf: Fix 64-bit sign extension issues affecting blocks > 0x7FFFFFFF Large (> 1 TiB) UDF filesystems appear subject to several problems when mounted on 64-bit systems: * readdir() can fail on a directory containing File Identifiers residing above 0x7FFFFFFF. This manifests as a 'ls' command failing with EIO. * FIBMAP on a file block located above 0x7FFFFFFF can return a negative value. The low 32 bits are correct, but applications that don't mask the high 32 bits of the result can perform incorrectly. Per suggestion by Jan Kara, introduce a udf_pblk_t type for representation of UDF block addresses. Ultimately, all driver functions that manipulate UDF block addresses should use this type; for now, deployment is limited to functions with actual or potential sign extension issues. Changes to udf_readdir() and udf_block_map() address the issues noted above; other changes address potential similar issues uncovered during audit of the driver code. Signed-off-by: Steven J. fs: udf: Replace CURRENT_TIME with current_time() CURRENT_TIME is not y2038 safe. CURRENT_TIME macro is also not appropriate for filesystems as it doesn't use the right granularity for filesystem timestamps. Logical Volume Integrity format is described to have the same timestamp format for "Recording Date and time" as the other [a,c,m]timestamps. The function udf_time_to_disk_format() does this conversion. Hence the timestamp is passed directly to the function and not truncated. This is as per Arnd's suggestion on the thread. This is also in preparation for the patch that transitions vfs timestamps to use 64 bit time and hence make them y2038 safe. As part of the effort current_time() will be extended to do range checks. udf: Use correct partition reference number for metadata UDF/OSTA terminology is confusing. Partition Numbers (PNs) are arbitrary 16-bit values, one for each physical partition in the volume. Partition Reference Numbers (PRNs) are indices into the the Partition Map Table and do not necessarily equal the PN of the mapped partition. The current metadata code mistakenly uses the PN instead of the PRN when mapping metadata blocks to physical/sparable blocks. Windows-created UDF 2.5 discs for some reason use large, arbitrary PNs, resulting in mount failure and KASAN read warnings in udf_read_inode(). For example, a NetBSD UDF 2.5 partition might look like this: PRN PN Type --- -- ---- 0 0 Sparable 1 0 Metadata Since PRN == PN, we are fine. But Windows could gives us: PRN PN Type --- ---- ---- 0 8192 Sparable 1 8192 Metadata So udf_read_inode() will start out by checking the partition length in sbi->s_partmaps[8192], which is obviously out of bounds. Fix this by creating a new field (s_phys_partition_ref) in struct udf_meta_data, referencing whatever physical or sparable map has the same partition number as the metadata partition. udf: Fix conversion of 'dstring' fields to UTF8 Commit 9293fcfbc1812a22ad5ce1b542eb90c1bbe01be1 ("udf: Remove struct ustr as non-needed intermediate storage"), while getting rid of 'struct ustr', does not take any special care of 'dstring' fields and effectively use fixed field length instead of actual string length, encoded in the last byte of the field. Also, commit 484a10f49387e4386bf2708532e75bf78ffea2cb ("udf: Merge linux specific translation into CS0 conversion function") introduced checking of the length of the string being converted, requiring proper alignment to number of bytes constituing each character. The UDF volume identifier is represented as a 32-bytes 'dstring', and needs to be converted from CS0 to UTF8, while mounting UDF filesystem. The changes in mentioned commits can in some cases lead to incorrect handling of volume identifier: - if the actual string in 'dstring' is of maximal length and does not have zero bytes separating it from dstring encoded length in last byte, that last byte may be included in conversion, thus making incorrect resulting string; - if the identifier is encoded with 2-bytes characters (compression code is 16), the length of 31 bytes (32 bytes of field length minus 1 byte of compression code), taken as the string length, is reported as an incorrect (unaligned) length, and the conversion fails, which in its turn leads to volume mounting failure. This patch introduces handling of 'dstring' encoded length field in udf_CS0toUTF8 function, that is used in all and only cases when 'dstring' fields are converted. Currently these cases are processing of Volume Identifier and Volume Set Identifier fields. The function is also renamed to udf_dstrCS0toUTF8 to distinctly indicate that it handles 'dstring' input. udf: Remove struct ustr as non-needed intermediate storage Although 'struct ustr' tries to structurize the data by combining the string and its length, it doesn't actually make much benefit, since it saves only one parameter, but introduces an extra copying of the whole buffer, serving as an intermediate storage. It looks quite inefficient and not actually needed. This commit gets rid of the struct ustr by changing the parameters of some functions appropriately. Also, it removes using 'dstring' type, since it doesn't make much sense too. Just using the occasion, add a 'const' qualifier to udf_get_filename to make consistent parameters sets. kmemcg: account certain kmem allocations to memcg Mark those kmem allocations that are known to be easily triggered from userspace as __GFP_ACCOUNT/SLAB_ACCOUNT, which makes them accounted to memcg. For the list, see below: - threadinfo - task_struct - task_delay_info - pid - cred - mm_struct - vm_area_struct and vm_region (nommu) - anon_vma and anon_vma_chain - signal_struct - sighand_struct - fs_struct - files_struct - fdtable and fdtable->full_fds_bits - dentry and external_name - inode for all filesystems. This is the most tedious part, because most filesystems overwrite the alloc_inode method. The list is far from complete, so feel free to add more objects. Nevertheless, it should be close to "account everything" approach and keep most workloads within bounds. Malevolent users will be able to breach the limit, but this was possible even with the former "account everything" approach (simply because it did not account everything in fact). fs: push sync_filesystem() down to the file system's remount_fs() Previously, the no-op "mount -o mount /dev/xxx" operation when the file system is already mounted read-write causes an implied, unconditional syncfs(). This seems pretty stupid, and it's certainly documented or guaraunteed to do this, nor is it particularly useful, except in the case where the file system was mounted rw and is getting remounted read-only. However, it's possible that there might be some file systems that are actually depending on this behavior. In most file systems, it's probably fine to only call sync_filesystem() when transitioning from read-write to read-only, and there are some file systems where this is not needed at all (for example, for a pseudo-filesystem or something like romfs). udf: fix for pathetic mount times in case of invalid file system The UDF driver was not strict enough about checking the IDs in the VSDs when mounting, which resulted in reading through all the sectors of the block device in some unfortunate cases. Eg, trying to mount my uninitialized 200G SSD partition (all 0xFF bytes) took ~350 minutes to fail, because the code expected some of the valid IDs or a zero byte. During this, the mount couldn't be killed, sync from the cmdline blocked, and the machine froze into the shutdown. Valid filesystems (extX, btrfs, ntfs) were rejected by the mere accident of having a zero byte at just the right place in some of their sectors, close enough to the beginning not to generate excess I/O. The fix adds a hard limit on the VSD sector offset, adds the two missing VSD IDs, and stops scanning when encountering an invalid ID. Also replaced the magic number 32768 with a more meaningful #define, and supressed the bogus message about failing to read the first sector if no UDF fs was detected. Signed-off-by: Peter A. That is unexpected by users because for non-writeable media eject button works just fine. Userspace mount(8) command handles this just fine and retries mounting with MS_RDONLY set so userspace shouldn't see any regression. Plus any tool mounting udf is likely confronted with the case of read-only media where block layer already refuses to mount the filesystem without MS_RDONLY set so our behavior shouldn't be anything new for it. udf: add extent cache support in case of file reading This patch implements extent caching in case of file reading. While reading a file, currently, UDF reads metadata serially which takes a lot of time depending on the number of extents present in the file. Caching last accessd extent improves metadata read time. Instead of reading file metadata from start, now we read from the cached extent. This patch considerably improves the time spent by CPU in kernel mode. For example, while reading a 10.9 GB file using dd: Time before applying patch: 11677022208 bytes (10.9GB) copied, 1529.748921 seconds, 7.3MB/s real 25m 29.85s user 0m 12.41s sys 15m 34.75s Time after applying patch: 11677022208 bytes (10.9GB) copied, 1469.338231 seconds, 7.6MB/s real 24m 29.44s user 0m 15.73s sys 3m 27.61s [JK: Fix bh refcounting issues, simplify initialization] Signed-off-by: Namjae Jeon <namjae.jeon@samsung.com> Signed-off-by: Ashish Sangwan <a.sangwan@samsung.com> Signed-off-by: Bonggil Bak <bgbak@samsung.com> Signed-off-by: Jan Kara <jack@suse.cz>

fs: icache RCU free inodes RCU free the struct inode. This will allow: - Subsequent store-free path walking patch. The inode must be consulted for permissions when walking, so an RCU inode reference is a must. - sb_inode_list_lock to be moved inside i_lock because sb list walkers who want to take i_lock no longer need to take sb_inode_list_lock to walk the list in the first place. This will simplify and optimize locking. - Could remove some nested trylock loops in dcache code - Could potentially simplify things a bit in VM land. Do not need to take the page lock to follow page->mapping. The downsides of this is the performance cost of using RCU. In a simple creat/unlink microbenchmark, performance drops by about 10% due to inability to reuse cache-hot slab objects. As iterations increase and RCU freeing starts kicking over, this increases to about 20%. In cases where inode lifetimes are longer (ie. many inodes may be allocated during the average life span of a single inode), a lot of this cache reuse is not applicable, so the regression caused by this patch is smaller. The cache-hot regression could largely be avoided by using SLAB_DESTROY_BY_RCU, however this adds some complexity to list walking and store-free path walking, so I prefer to implement this at a later date, if it is shown to be a win in real situations. I haven't found a regression in any non-micro benchmark so I doubt it will be a problem. Signed-off-by: Nick Piggin <npiggin@kernel.dk>

BKL: Explicitly add BKL around get_sb/fill_super This patch is a preparation necessary to remove the BKL from do_new_mount(). It explicitly adds calls to lock_kernel()/unlock_kernel() around get_sb/fill_super operations for filesystems that still uses the BKL. I've read through all the code formerly covered by the BKL inside do_kern_mount() and have satisfied myself that it doesn't need the BKL any more. do_kern_mount() is already called without the BKL when mounting the rootfs and in nfsctl. do_kern_mount() calls vfs_kern_mount(), which is called from various places without BKL: simple_pin_fs(), nfs_do_clone_mount() through nfs_follow_mountpoint(), afs_mntpt_do_automount() through afs_mntpt_follow_link(). Both later functions are actually the filesystems follow_link inode operation. vfs_kern_mount() is calling the specified get_sb function and lets the filesystem do its job by calling the given fill_super function. Therefore I think it is safe to push down the BKL from the VFS to the low-level filesystems get_sb/fill_super operation. udf: Fix loading of VAT inode when drive wrongly reports number of recorded blocks VAT inode is located in the last block recorded block of the medium. When the drive errorneously reports number of recorded blocks, we failed to load the VAT inode and thus mount the medium. This patch makes kernel try to read VAT inode from the last block of the device if it is different from the last recorded block. Signed-off-by: Jan Kara <jack@suse.cz>

push BKL down into ->put_super Move BKL into ->put_super from the only caller. A couple of filesystems had trivial enough ->put_super (only kfree and NULLing of s_fs_info + stuff in there) to not get any locking: coda, cramfs, efs, hugetlbfs, omfs, qnx4, shmem, all others got the full treatment. Most of them probably don't need it, but I'd rather sort that out individually. Preferably after all the other BKL pushdowns in that area. [AV: original used to move lock_super() down as well; these changes are removed since we don't do lock_super() at all in generic_shutdown_super() now] [AV: fuse, btrfs and xfs are known to need no damn BKL, exempt] Signed-off-by: Christoph Hellwig <hch@lst.de> Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>

block: Do away with the notion of hardsect_size Until now we have had a 1:1 mapping between storage device physical block size and the logical block sized used when addressing the device. With SATA 4KB drives coming out that will no longer be the case. The sector size will be 4KB but the logical block size will remain 512-bytes. Hence we need to distinguish between the physical block size and the logical ditto. This patch renames hardsect_size to logical_block_size. Signed-off-by: Martin K. udf: Don't write integrity descriptor too often We update information in logical volume integrity descriptor after each allocation (as LVID contains free space, number of directories and files on disk etc.). If the filesystem is on some phase change media, this leads to its quick degradation as such media is able to handle only 10000 overwrites or so. We solve the problem by writing new information into LVID only on umount, remount-ro and sync. This solves the problem at the price of longer media inconsistency (previously media became consistent after pdflush flushed dirty LVID buffer) but that should be acceptable. udf: Try anchor in block 256 first Anchor block can be located at several places on the medium. Two of the locations are relative to media end which is problematic to detect. Also some drives report some block as last but are not able to read it or any block nearby before it. So let's first try block 256 and if it is all fine, don't look at other possible locations of anchor blocks to avoid IO errors. This change required a larger reorganization of code but the new code is hopefully more readable and definitely shorter. Signed-off-by: Jan Kara <jack@suse.cz>

udf: use hardware sector size This patch makes the UDF FS driver use the hardware sector size as the default logical block size, which is required by the UDF specifications. While the previous default of 2048 bytes was correct for optical disks, it was not for hard disks or USB storage devices, and made it impossible to use such a device with the default mount options. (The Linux mkudffs tool uses a default block size of 2048 bytes even on devices with smaller hardware sectors, so this bug is unlikely to be noticed unless UDF-formatted USB storage devices are exchanged with other OSs.) To avoid regressions for people who use loopback optical disk images or who used the (sometimes wrong) defaults of mkudffs, we also try with a block size of 2048 bytes if no anchor was found with the hardware sector size. udf: Cleanup anchor block detection. UDF anchor block detection is complicated by several things - there are several places where the anchor point can be, some of them relative to the last recorded block which some devices report wrongly. Moreover some devices on some media seem to have 7 spare blocks sectors for every 32 blocks (at least as far as I understand the old code) so we have to count also with that possibility. This patch splits anchor block detection into several functions so that it is clearer what we actually try to do. We fix several bugs of the type "for such and such media, we fail to check block blah" as a result of the cleanup. Signed-off-by: Jan Kara <jack@suse.cz>

udf: fix anchor point detection According to ECMA 167 rev. 3 (see 3/8.4.2.1), Anchor Volume Descriptor Pointer should be recorded at two or more anchor points located at sectors 256, N, N - 256, where N - is a largest logical sector number at volume space. So we should always try to detect N on UDF volume before trying to find Anchor Volume Descriptor (i.e. calling to udf_find_anchor()). That said, all this patch does is updates the s_last_block even if the udf_vrs() returns positive value. Originally written and tested by Yuri Per, ported on latest mainline by me. UDF: fix UID and GID mount option ignorance This patch fix weird behaviour of UDF mounting procedure. To get UID changed (for now) we have to type mount -t udf -o uid=some_user,uid=ignore /dev/device /mnt/moun_point and specifying two uid at once is strange a bit. So with the patch we are able to mount without additional 'uid=ignore' option. The same for GID option is done. This patch will not break current mount scheme (with two option). They've been BUGs for both slab and slub, and slob never supported them either. slab allocators: Remove SLAB_DEBUG_INITIAL flag I have never seen a use of SLAB_DEBUG_INITIAL. It is only supported by SLAB. I think its purpose was to have a callback after an object has been freed to verify that the state is the constructor state again? The callback is performed before each freeing of an object. I would think that it is much easier to check the object state manually before the free. That also places the check near the code object manipulation of the object. Also the SLAB_DEBUG_INITIAL callback is only performed if the kernel was compiled with SLAB debugging on. If there would be code in a constructor handling SLAB_DEBUG_INITIAL then it would have to be conditional on SLAB_DEBUG otherwise it would just be dead code. But there is no such code in the kernel. I think SLUB_DEBUG_INITIAL is too problematic to make real use of, difficult to understand and there are easier ways to accomplish the same effect (i.e. add debug code before kfree). There is a related flag SLAB_CTOR_VERIFY that is frequently checked to be clear in fs inode caches. Remove the pointless checks (they would even be pointless without removeal of SLAB_DEBUG_INITIAL) from the fs constructors. This is the last slab flag that SLUB did not support. Remove the check for unimplemented flags from SLUB. [PATCH] mount udf UDF_PART_FLAG_READ_ONLY partitions with MS_RDONLY There's a bug where a UDF_PART_FLAG_READ_ONLY udf partition gets mounted read-write, then subsequent problems happen; files seem to be able to be removed, but file creation results in EIO or worse, oops. EIO is coming from udf_new_block(), which returns EIO if the right flags aren't set; only UDF_PART_FLAG_READ_ONLY is set in this case. We probably s hould not have gotten this far... [PATCH] VFS: Permit filesystem to perform statfs with a known root dentry Give the statfs superblock operation a dentry pointer rather than a superblock pointer. This complements the get_sb() patch. That reduced the significance of sb->s_root, allowing NFS to place a fake root there. However, NFS does require a dentry to use as a target for the statfs operation. This permits the root in the vfsmount to be used instead. linux/mount.h has been added where necessary to make allyesconfig build successfully. [PATCH] VFS: Permit filesystem to override root dentry on mount Extend the get_sb() filesystem operation to take an extra argument that permits the VFS to pass in the target vfsmount that defines the mountpoint. The filesystem is then required to manually set the superblock and root dentry pointers. For most filesystems, this should be done with simple_set_mnt() which will set the superblock pointer and then set the root dentry to the superblock's s_root (as per the old default behaviour). The get_sb() op now returns an integer as there's now no need to return the superblock pointer. This patch permits a superblock to be implicitly shared amongst several mount points, such as can be done with NFS to avoid potential inode aliasing. In such a case, simple_set_mnt() would not be called, and instead the mnt_root and mnt_sb would be set directly. The patch also makes the following changes: (*) the get_sb_*() convenience functions in the core kernel now take a vfsmount pointer argument and return an integer, so most filesystems have to change very little. (*) If one of the convenience function is not used, then get_sb() should normally call simple_set_mnt() to instantiate the vfsmount. This will always return 0, and so can be tail-called from get_sb(). (*) generic_shutdown_super() now calls shrink_dcache_sb() to clean up the dcache upon superblock destruction rather than shrink_dcache_anon(). This is required because the superblock may now have multiple trees that aren't actually bound to s_root, but that still need to be cleaned up. The currently called functions assume that the whole tree is rooted at s_root, and that anonymous dentries are not the roots of trees which results in dentries being left unculled. However, with the way NFS superblock sharing are currently set to be implemented, these assumptions are violated: the root of the filesystem is simply a dummy dentry and inode (the real inode for '/' may well be inaccessible), and all the vfsmounts are rooted on anonymous[*] dentries with child trees. [*] Anonymous until discovered from another tree. (*) The documentation has been adjusted, including the additional bit of changing ext2_* into foo_* in the documentation. [PATCH] cpuset memory spread: slab cache filesystems Mark file system inode and similar slab caches subject to SLAB_MEM_SPREAD memory spreading. If a slab cache is marked SLAB_MEM_SPREAD, then anytime that a task that's in a cpuset with the 'memory_spread_slab' option enabled goes to allocate from such a slab cache, the allocations are spread evenly over all the memory nodes (task->mems_allowed) allowed to that task, instead of favoring allocation on the node local to the current cpu. The following inode and similar caches are marked SLAB_MEM_SPREAD: file cache ==== ===== fs/adfs/super.c adfs_inode_cache fs/affs/super.c affs_inode_cache fs/befs/linuxvfs.c befs_inode_cache fs/bfs/inode.c bfs_inode_cache fs/block_dev.c bdev_cache fs/cifs/cifsfs.c cifs_inode_cache fs/coda/inode.c coda_inode_cache fs/dquot.c dquot fs/efs/super.c efs_inode_cache fs/ext2/super.c ext2_inode_cache fs/ext2/xattr.c (fs/mbcache.c) ext2_xattr fs/ext3/super.c ext3_inode_cache fs/ext3/xattr.c (fs/mbcache.c) ext3_xattr fs/fat/cache.c fat_cache fs/fat/inode.c fat_inode_cache fs/freevxfs/vxfs_super.c vxfs_inode fs/hpfs/super.c hpfs_inode_cache fs/isofs/inode.c isofs_inode_cache fs/jffs/inode-v23.c jffs_fm fs/jffs2/super.c jffs2_i fs/jfs/super.c jfs_ip fs/minix/inode.c minix_inode_cache fs/ncpfs/inode.c ncp_inode_cache fs/nfs/direct.c nfs_direct_cache fs/nfs/inode.c nfs_inode_cache fs/ntfs/super.c ntfs_big_inode_cache_name fs/ntfs/super.c ntfs_inode_cache fs/ocfs2/dlm/dlmfs.c dlmfs_inode_cache fs/ocfs2/super.c ocfs2_inode_cache fs/proc/inode.c proc_inode_cache fs/qnx4/inode.c qnx4_inode_cache fs/reiserfs/super.c reiser_inode_cache fs/romfs/inode.c romfs_inode_cache fs/smbfs/inode.c smb_inode_cache fs/sysv/inode.c sysv_inode_cache fs/udf/super.c udf_inode_cache fs/ufs/super.c ufs_inode_cache net/socket.c sock_inode_cache net/sunrpc/rpc_pipe.c rpc_inode_cache The choice of which slab caches to so mark was quite simple. I marked those already marked SLAB_RECLAIM_ACCOUNT, except for fs/xfs, dentry_cache, inode_cache, and buffer_head, which were marked in a previous patch. Even though SLAB_RECLAIM_ACCOUNT is for a different purpose, it marks the same potentially large file system i/o related slab caches as we need for memory spreading. Given that the rule now becomes "wherever you would have used a SLAB_RECLAIM_ACCOUNT slab cache flag before (usually the inode cache), use the SLAB_MEM_SPREAD flag too", this should be easy enough to maintain. Future file system writers will just copy one of the existing file system slab cache setups and tend to get it right without thinking. [PATCH] udf: fix uid/gid options and add uid/gid=ignore and forget options Fix a bug in udf where it would write uid/gid = 0 to the disk for files owned by the id given with the uid=/gid= mount options. It also adds 4 new mount options: uid/gid=forget and uid/gid=ignore. Without any options the id in core and on disk always match. Giving uid/gid=nnn specifies a default ID to be used in core when the on disk ID is -1. uid/gid=ignore forces the in core ID to allways be used no matter what the on disk ID is. uid/gid=forget forces the on disk ID to always be written out as -1. The use of these options allows you to override ownerships on a disk or disable ownwership information from being written, allowing the media to be used portably between different computers and possibly different users without permissions issues that would require root to correct. Linux-2.6.12-rc2 Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
