ext4: remove EA inode entry from mbcache on inode eviction

Currently we remove EA inode from mbcache as soon as its xattr refcount
drops to zero. However there can be pending attempts to reuse the inode
and thus refcount handling code has to handle the situation when
refcount increases from zero anyway. So save some work and just keep EA
inode in mbcache until it is getting evicted. At that moment we are sure
following iget() of EA inode will fail anyway (or wait for eviction to
finish and load things from the disk again) and so removing mbcache
entry at that moment is fine and simplifies the code a bit.

When adding an xattr to an inode, we must ensure that the inode_size is
not less than EXT4_GOOD_OLD_INODE_SIZE + extra_isize + pad. Otherwise,
the end position may be greater than the start position, resulting in UAF.

ext4: support xattr gnu.* namespace for the Hurd

The Hurd gained[0] support for moving the translator and author
fields out of the inode and into the "gnu.*" xattr namespace.

In anticipation of that, an xattr INDEX was reserved[1]. The Hurd has
now been brought into compliance[2] with that.

This patch adds support for reading and writing such attributes from
Linux; you can now do something like

setfattr --name=gnu.translator --value='"/hurd/pflocal\0"' \

ext4: use flexible-array member for xattr structs

The current codebase makes use of the zero-length array language
extension to the C90 standard, but the preferred mechanism to declare
variable-length types such as these ones is a flexible array member[1][2],
introduced in C99:

By making use of the mechanism above, we will get a compiler warning
in case the flexible array does not occur last in the structure, which
will help us prevent some kind of undefined behavior bugs from being
inadvertently introduced[3] to the codebase from now on.

Also, notice that, dynamic memory allocations won't be affected by
this change:

"Flexible array members have incomplete type, and so the sizeof operator
may not be applied. As a quirk of the original implementation of
zero-length arrays, sizeof evaluates to zero."[1]

This issue was found with the help of Coccinelle.

ext4: fix up remaining files with SPDX cleanups

A number of ext4 source files were skipped due because their copyright
permission statements didn't match the expected text used by the
automated conversion utilities. I've added SPDX tags for the rest.

While looking at some of these files, I've noticed that we have quite
a bit of variation on the licenses that were used --- in particular
some of the Red Hat licenses on the jbd2 files use a GPL2+ license,
and we have some files that have a LGPL-2.1 license (which was quite
surprising).

I've not attempted to do any license changes. Even if it is perfectly
legal to relicense to GPL 2.0-only for consistency's sake, that should
be done with ext4 developer community discussion.

License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no license

Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which
makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license.

By default all files without license information are under the default
license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2.

Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0'
SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding
shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text.

This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and
Philippe Ombredanne.

How this work was done:

Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of
the use cases:
- file had no licensing information it it.
- file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it,
- file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information,

Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases
where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license
had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords.

The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to
a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the
output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX
tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the
base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files.

The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files
assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner
results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s)
to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not
immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was:
- Files considered eligible had to be source code files.
- Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5
lines of source
- File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5
lines).

All documentation files were explicitly excluded.

The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license
identifiers to apply.

- when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was
considered to have no license information in it, and the top level
COPYING file license applied.

For non */uapi/* files that summary was:

and that resulted in the third patch in this series.

- when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became
the concluded license(s).

- when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a
license but the other didn't, or they both detected different
licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred.

- In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file
resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and
which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics).

- When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was
confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

- If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier,
the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later
in time.

In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the
spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the
source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation
by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from
FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners
disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The
Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so
they are related.

Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets
for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the
files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks
in about 15000 files.

In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have
copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the
correct identifier.

Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual
inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch
version early this week with:
- a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected
license ids and scores
- reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+
files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct
- reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license
was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied
SPDX license was correct

This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This
worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the
different types of files to be modified.

These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to
parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the
format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg
based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to
distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different
comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to
generate the patches.

ext4: fix __ext4_new_inode() journal credits calculation

ea_inode feature allows creating extended attributes that are up to
64k in size. Update __ext4_new_inode() to pick increased credit limits.

To avoid overallocating too many journal credits, update
__ext4_xattr_set_credits() to make a distinction between xattr create
vs update. This helps __ext4_new_inode() because all attributes are
known to be new, so we can save credits that are normally needed to
delete old values.

Also, have fscrypt specify its maximum context size so that we don't
end up allocating credits for 64k size.

quota: add get_inode_usage callback to transfer multi-inode charges

Ext4 ea_inode feature allows storing xattr values in external inodes to
be able to store values that are bigger than a block in size. Ext4 also
has deduplication support for these type of inodes. With deduplication,
the actual storage waste is eliminated but the users of such inodes are
still charged full quota for the inodes as if there was no sharing
happening in the background.

This design requires ext4 to manually charge the users because the
inodes are shared.

An implication of this is that, if someone calls chown on a file that
has such references we need to transfer the quota for the file and xattr
inodes. Current dquot_transfer() function implicitly transfers one inode
charge. With ea_inode feature, we would like to transfer multiple inode
charges.

Add get_inode_usage callback which can interrogate the total number of
inodes that were charged for a given inode.

ext4: xattr inode deduplication

Ext4 now supports xattr values that are up to 64k in size (vfs limit).
Large xattr values are stored in external inodes each one holding a
single value. Once written the data blocks of these inodes are immutable.

The real world use cases are expected to have a lot of value duplication
such as inherited acls etc. To reduce data duplication on disk, this patch
implements a deduplicator that allows sharing of xattr inodes.

The deduplication is based on an in-memory hash lookup that is a best
effort sharing scheme. When a xattr inode is read from disk (i.e.
getxattr() call), its crc32c hash is added to a hash table. Before
creating a new xattr inode for a value being set, the hash table is
checked to see if an existing inode holds an identical value. If such an
inode is found, the ref count on that inode is incremented. On value
removal the ref count is decremented and if it reaches zero the inode is
deleted.

The quota charging for such inodes is manually managed. Every reference
holder is charged the full size as if there was no sharing happening.
This is consistent with how xattr blocks are also charged.

ext4: cleanup transaction restarts during inode deletion

During inode deletion, the number of journal credits that will be
needed is hard to determine. For that reason we have journal
extend/restart calls in several places. Whenever a transaction is
restarted, filesystem must be in a consistent state because there is
no atomicity guarantee beyond a restart call.

Add ext4_xattr_ensure_credits() helper function which takes care of
journal extend/restart logic. It also handles getting jbd2 write
access and dirty metadata calls. This function is called at every
iteration of handling an ea_inode reference.

Tracking struct inode * rather than the inode number eliminates the
repeated ext4_xattr_inode_iget() call later. The second call cannot

ext4: improve journal credit handling in set xattr paths

Both ext4_set_acl() and ext4_set_context() need to be made aware of
ea_inode feature when it comes to credits calculation.

Also add a sufficient credits check in ext4_xattr_set_handle() right
after xattr write lock is grabbed. Original credits calculation is done
outside the lock so there is a possiblity that the initially calculated
credits are not sufficient anymore.

ext4: xattr-in-inode support

Large xattr support is implemented for EXT4_FEATURE_INCOMPAT_EA_INODE.

If the size of an xattr value is larger than will fit in a single
external block, then the xattr value will be saved into the body
of an external xattr inode.

The also helps support a larger number of xattr, since only the headers
will be stored in the in-inode space or the single external block.

The inode is referenced from the xattr header via "e_value_inum",
which was formerly "e_value_block", but that field was never used.
The e_value_size still contains the xattr size so that listing
xattrs does not need to look up the inode if the data is not accessed.

The xattr_sem deadlock problems fixed in commit 2e81a4eeedca: "ext4:
avoid deadlock when expanding inode size" didn't include the use of
xattr_sem in fs/ext4/inline.c. With the addition of project quota
which added a new extra inode field, this exposed deadlocks in the
inline_data code similar to the ones fixed by 2e81a4eeedca.

The deadlock can be reproduced via:

ext4: reserve xattr index for the Hurd

The Hurd is using inode fields which restricts it from using more
advanced ext4 file system features, due to design choices made over a
decade ago. By giving the Hurd an extended attribute index field we
allow it to move the translator and author fields out of the core
inode fields, and hopefully we can get rid of ugly hacks such as
EXT4_OS_HURD and EXT4_MOUNT2_HURD_COMPAT somday.

The conversion is generally straightforward. The only tricky part is
that xattr block corresponding to found mbcache entry can get freed
before we get buffer lock for that block. So we have to check whether
the entry is still valid after getting buffer lock.

ext4: each filesystem creates and uses its own mb_cache

This patch adds new interfaces to create and destory cache,
ext4_xattr_create_cache() and ext4_xattr_destroy_cache(), and remove
the cache creation and destory calls from ex4_init_xattr() and
ext4_exitxattr() in fs/ext4/xattr.c.

fs/ext4/super.c has been changed so that when a filesystem is mounted
a cache is allocated and attched to its ext4_sb_info structure.

fs/mbcache.c has been changed so that only one slab allocator is
allocated and used by all mbcache structures.

ext4: fix the number of credits needed for acl ops with inline data

Operations which modify extended attributes may need extra journal
credits if inline data is used, since there is a chance that some
extended attributes may need to get pushed to an external attribute
block.

Changes to reflect this was made in xattr.c, but they were missed in
fs/ext4/acl.c. To fix this, abstract the calculation of the number of
credits needed for xattr operations to an inline function defined in
ext4_jbd2.h, and use it in acl.c and xattr.c.

Also move the function declarations used in inline.c from xattr.h
(where they are non-obviously hidden, and caused problems since
ext4_jbd2.h needs to use the function ext4_has_inline_data), and move
them to ext4.h.

ext4: zero out inline data using memset() instead of empty_zero_page

Not all architectures (in particular, sparc64) have empty_zero_page.
So instead of copying from empty_zero_page, use memset to clear the
inline data by signalling to ext4_xattr_set_entry() via a magic
pointer value, EXT4_ZERO_ATTR_VALUE, which is defined by casting -1 to
a pointer.

This fixes a build failure on sparc64, and the memset() should be more
efficient than using memcpy() anyway.

ext4: Remove CONFIG_EXT4_FS_XATTR

Ted has sent out a RFC about removing this feature. Eric and Jan
confirmed that both RedHat and SUSE enable this feature in all their
product. David also said that "As far as I know, it's enabled in all
Android kernels that use ext4." So it seems OK for us.

And what's more, as inline data depends its implementation on xattr,
and to be frank, I don't run any test again inline data enabled while
xattr disabled. So I think we should add inline data and remove this
config option in the same release.

[ The savings if you disable CONFIG_EXT4_FS_XATTR is only 27k, which
isn't much in the grand scheme of things. Since no one seems to be
testing this configuration except for some automated compile farms, on
balance we are better removing this config option, and so that it is
effectively always enabled. -- tytso ]

ext4: let ext4_rename handle inline dir

In case we rename a directory, ext4_rename has to read the dir block
and change its dotdot's information. The old ext4_rename encapsulated
the dir_block read into itself. So this patch adds a new function
ext4_get_first_dir_block() which gets the dir buffer information so
the ext4_rename can handle it properly. As it will also change the
parent inode number, we return the parent_de so that ext4_rename() can
handle it more easily.

ext4_find_entry is also changed so that the caller(rename) can tell
whether the found entry is an inlined one or not and journaling the
corresponding buffer head.

This patch let add_dir_entry handle the inline data case. So the
dir is initialized as inline dir first and then we can try to add
some files to it, when the inline space can't hold all the entries,
a dir block will be created and the dir entry will be moved to it.

Also for an inlined dir, "." and ".." are removed and we only use
4 bytes to store the parent inode number. These 2 entries will be
added when we convert an inline dir to a block-based one.

For delayed allocation mode, we write to inline data if the file
is small enough. And in case of we write to some offset larger
than the inline size, the 1st page is dirtied, so that
ext4_da_writepages can handle the conversion. When the 1st page
is initialized with blocks, the inline part is removed.

fs/vfs/security: pass last path component to LSM on inode creation

SELinux would like to implement a new labeling behavior of newly created
inodes. We currently label new inodes based on the parent and the creating
process. This new behavior would also take into account the name of the
new object when deciding the new label. This is not the (supposed) full path,
just the last component of the path.

This is very useful because creating /etc/shadow is different than creating
/etc/passwd but the kernel hooks are unable to differentiate these
operations. We currently require that userspace realize it is doing some
difficult operation like that and than userspace jumps through SELinux hoops
to get things set up correctly. This patch does not implement new
behavior, that is obviously contained in a seperate SELinux patch, but it
does pass the needed name down to the correct LSM hook. If no such name
exists it is fine to pass NULL.

ext4: Expand extra_inodes space per the s_{want,min}_extra_isize fields

We need to make sure that existing ext3 filesystems can also avail the
new fields that have been added to the ext4 inode. We use
s_want_extra_isize and s_min_extra_isize to decide by how much we should
expand the inode. If EXT4_FEATURE_RO_COMPAT_EXTRA_ISIZE feature is set
then we expand the inode by max(s_want_extra_isize, s_min_extra_isize ,
sizeof(ext4_inode) - EXT4_GOOD_OLD_INODE_SIZE) bytes. Actually it is
still an open question about whether users should be able to set
s_*_extra_isize smaller than the known fields or not.

This patch also adds the functionality to expand inodes to include the
newly added fields. We start by trying to expand by s_want_extra_isize
bytes and if its fails we try to expand by s_min_extra_isize bytes. This
is done by changing the i_extra_isize if enough space is available in
the inode and no EAs are present. If EAs are present and there is enough
space in the inode then the EAs in the inode are shifted to make space.
If enough space is not available in the inode due to the EAs then 1 or
more EAs are shifted to the external EA block. In the worst case when
even the external EA block does not have enough space we inform the user
that some EA would need to be deleted or s_min_extra_isize would have to
be reduced.
