backlight: lp8788: Fully initialize backlight_properties during probe

props is stack allocated and the fields that are not explcitly set
by the probe function need to be zeroed or we'll get undefined behaviour
(especially so power/blank states)!

# 1c708d34 08-Mar-2023 Uwe Kleine-König <u.kleine-koenig@pengutronix.de>

backlight: lp8788_bl: Convert to platform remove callback returning void

The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes
many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by
returning an error code. However the value returned is (mostly) ignored
and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a
quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this
quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new() which already returns
void.

Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove
callback to the void returning variant.

# 058be4d6 14-Apr-2016 Boris Brezillon <bbrezillon@kernel.org>

backlight: lp8788: Explicitly apply PWM config extracted from pwm_args

Call pwm_apply_args() just after requesting the PWM device so that the
polarity and period are initialized according to the information
provided in pwm_args.

This is an intermediate state, and pwm_apply_args() should be dropped as
soon as the atomic PWM infrastructure is in place and the driver makes
use of it.

# 85463d8e 30-Jun-2015 Markus Elfring <elfring@users.sourceforge.net>

backlight: lp8788_bl: Delete a check before backlight_device_unregister()

The backlight_device_unregister() function tests whether its argument
is NULL and then returns immediately. Thus the test around the call is
not needed.

This issue was detected by using the Coccinelle software.

backlight: Remove .owner field for drivers using module_platform_driver

use the module_platform_driver or platform_driver_register api,
as this is overriden in __platform_driver_register.

backlight: lp8788: remove unnecessary platform_set_drvdata()

The driver core clears the driver data to NULL after device_release or

Thus, it is not needed to manually clear the device driver data to NULL.

# c5a51053 27-Feb-2013 Kim, Milo <Milo.Kim@ti.com>

backlight: add new lp8788 backlight driver

TI LP8788 PMU supports regulators, battery charger, RTC, ADC, backlight
dri= ver and current sinks. This patch enables LP8788 backlight module.

(Brightness mode)
The brightness is controlled by PWM input or I2C register.
All modes are supported in the driver.

(Platform data)
Configurable data can be defined in the platform side.
name : backlight driver name. (default: "lcd-backlight")
initial_brightness : initial value of backlight brightness
bl_mode : brightness control by PWM or lp8788 register
dim_mode : dimming mode selection
full_scale : full scale current setting
rise_time : brightness ramp up step time
fall_time : brightness ramp down step time
pwm_pol : PWM polarity setting when bl_mode is PWM based
period_ns : platform specific PWM period value. unit is nano.

The default values are set in case no platform data is defined.
