usb: chipidea: udc: Add revision check of 2.20[CI_REVISION_22] Issue: Adding a dTD to a Primed Endpoint May Not Get Recognized with revision 2.20a. There is an issue with the add dTD tripwire semaphore (ATDTW bit in USBCMD register) that can cause the controller to ignore a dTD that is added to a primed endpoint. When this happens, the software can read the tripwire bit and the status bit at '1' even though the endpoint is unprimed. This issue observed with the Windows host machine. Workaround: The software must implement a periodic cycle, and check for each dTD pending on execution (Active = 1), if the endpoint is primed. It can do this by reading the corresponding bits in the ENDPTPRIME and ENDPTSTAT registers. If these bits are read at 0, the software needs to re-prime the endpoint by writing 1 to the corresponding bit in the ENDPTPRIME register. Added conditional revision check of 2.20[CI_REVISION_22] along with 2.40. USB: ch9: add "USB_" prefix in front of TEST defines For some reason, the TEST_ defines in the usb/ch9.h files did not have the USB_ prefix on it, making it a bit confusing when reading the file, as well as not the nicest thing to do in a uapi file. So fix that up and add the USB_ prefix on to them, and fix up all in-kernel usages. This included deleting the duplicate copy in the net2272.h file. usb: chipidea: udc: add software sg list support The chipidea controller doesn't support short transfer for sg list, so we still keep setting IOC per TD, otherwise, there will be no interrupt for short transfer. Each TD has five entries for data buffer, each data buffer could be non-countinuous 4KB buffer, so it could handle up to 5 sg buffers one time. The benefit of this patch is avoiding OOM for low memory system(eg, 256MB) during large USB transfers, see below for detail. The non-sg handling has not changed. ufb: page allocation failure: order:4, mode:0x40cc0(GFP_KERNEL|__GFP_COMP), nodemask=(null),cpuset=/,mems_allowed=0 CPU: 2 PID: 370 Comm: ufb Not tainted 5.4.3-1.1.0+g54b3750d61fd #1 Hardware name: NXP i.MX8MNano DDR4 EVK board (DT) Call trace: dump_backtrace+0x0/0x140 show_stack+0x14/0x20 dump_stack+0xb4/0xf8 warn_alloc+0xec/0x158 __alloc_pages_slowpath+0x9cc/0x9f8 __alloc_pages_nodemask+0x21c/0x280 alloc_pages_current+0x7c/0xe8 kmalloc_order+0x1c/0x88 __kmalloc+0x25c/0x298 ffs_epfile_io.isra.0+0x20c/0x7d0 ffs_epfile_read_iter+0xa8/0x188 new_sync_read+0xe4/0x170 __vfs_read+0x2c/0x40 vfs_read+0xc8/0x1a0 ksys_read+0x68/0xf0 __arm64_sys_read+0x18/0x20 el0_svc_common.constprop.0+0x68/0x160 el0_svc_handler+0x20/0x80 el0_svc+0x8/0xc Mem-Info: active_anon:2856 inactive_anon:5269 isolated_anon:12 active_file:5238 inactive_file:18803 isolated_file:0 unevictable:0 dirty:22 writeback:416 unstable:0 slab_reclaimable:4073 slab_unreclaimable:3408 mapped:727 shmem:7393 pagetables:37 bounce:0 free:4104 free_pcp:118 free_cma:0 Node 0 active_anon:11436kB inactive_anon:21076kB active_file:20988kB inactive_file:75216kB unevictable:0kB isolated(ano Node 0 DMA32 free:16820kB min:1808kB low:2260kB high:2712kB active_anon:11436kB inactive_anon:21076kB active_file:2098B lowmem_reserve[]: 0 0 0 Node 0 DMA32: 508*4kB (UME) 242*8kB (UME) 730*16kB (UM) 21*32kB (UME) 5*64kB (UME) 2*128kB (M) 0*256kB 0*512kB 0*1024kB Node 0 hugepages_total=0 hugepages_free=0 hugepages_surp=0 hugepages_size=1048576kB Node 0 hugepages_total=0 hugepages_free=0 hugepages_surp=0 hugepages_size=32768kB Node 0 hugepages_total=0 hugepages_free=0 hugepages_surp=0 hugepages_size=2048kB Node 0 hugepages_total=0 hugepages_free=0 hugepages_surp=0 hugepages_size=64kB 31455 total pagecache pages 0 pages in swap cache Swap cache stats: add 0, delete 0, find 0/0 Free swap = 0kB Total swap = 0kB 65536 pages RAM 0 pages HighMem/MovableOnly 10766 pages reserved 0 pages cma reserved 0 pages hwpoisoned Reviewed-by: Jun Li <jun.li@nxp.com> Signed-off-by: Peter Chen <peter.chen@nxp.com>

usb: chipidea: udc: don't do hardware access if gadget has stopped After _gadget_stop_activity is executed, we can consider the hardware operation for gadget has finished, and the udc can be stopped and enter low power mode. So, any later hardware operations (from usb_ep_ops APIs or usb_gadget_ops APIs) should be considered invalid, any deinitializatons has been covered at _gadget_stop_activity. I meet this problem when I plug out usb cable from PC using mass_storage gadget, my callstack like: vbus interrupt->.vbus_session-> composite_disconnect ->pm_runtime_put_sync(&_gadget->dev), the composite_disconnect will call fsg_disable, but fsg_disable calls usb_ep_disable using async way, there are register accesses for usb_ep_disable. So sometimes, I get system hang due to visit register without clock, sometimes not. The Linux Kernel USB maintainer Alan Stern suggests this kinds of solution. usb: chipidea: udc: workaround for endpoint conflict issue An endpoint conflict occurs when the USB is working in device mode during an isochronous communication. When the endpointA IN direction is an isochronous IN endpoint, and the host sends an IN token to endpointA on another device, then the OUT transaction may be missed regardless the OUT endpoint number. Generally, this occurs when the device is connected to the host through a hub and other devices are connected to the same hub. The affected OUT endpoint can be either control, bulk, isochronous, or an interrupt endpoint. After the OUT endpoint is primed, if an IN token to the same endpoint number on another device is received, then the OUT endpoint may be unprimed (cannot be detected by software), which causes this endpoint to no longer respond to the host OUT token, and thus, no corresponding interrupt occurs. There is no good workaround for this issue, the only thing the software could do is numbering isochronous IN from the highest endpoint since we have observed most of device number endpoint from the lowest. USB: add SPDX identifiers to all remaining files in drivers/usb/ It's good to have SPDX identifiers in all files to make it easier to audit the kernel tree for correct licenses. Update the drivers/usb/ and include/linux/usb* files with the correct SPDX license identifier based on the license text in the file itself. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text. usb: chipidea: udc: fix NULL ptr dereference in isr_setup_status_phase Problems with the signal integrity of the high speed USB data lines or noise on reference ground lines can cause the i.MX6 USB controller to violate USB specs and exhibit unexpected behavior. It was observed that USBi_UI interrupts were triggered first and when isr_setup_status_phase was called, ci->status was NULL, which lead to a NULL pointer dereference kernel panic. This patch fixes the kernel panic, emits a warning once and returns -EPIPE to halt the device and let the host get stalled. It also adds a comment to point people, who are experiencing this issue, to their USB hardware design. usb: chipidea: udc: using the correct stall implementation According to spec, there are functional and protocol stalls. For functional stall, it is for bulk and interrupt endpoints, below are cases for it: - Host sends SET_FEATURE request for Set-Halt, the udc driver needs to set stall, and return true unconditionally. - The gadget driver may call usb_ep_set_halt to stall certain endpoints, if there is a transfer in pending, the udc driver should not set stall, and return -EAGAIN accordingly. These two kinds of stall need to be cleared by host using CLEAR_FEATURE request (Clear-Halt). For protocol stall, it is for control endpoint, this stall will be set if the control request has failed. This stall will be cleared by next setup request (hardware will do it). It fixed usbtest (drivers/usb/misc/usbtest.c) Test 13 "set/clear halt" test failure, meanwhile, this change has been verified by USB2 CV Compliance Test and MSC Tests. usb: chipidea: Add errata for revision 2.40a At chipidea revision 2.40a, there is a below errata: 9000531823 B2-Medium Adding a dTD to a Primed Endpoint May Not Get Recognized Title: Adding a dTD to a Primed Endpoint May Not Get Recognized Impacted Configuration: All device mode configurations. Description: There is an issue with the add dTD tripwire semaphore (ATDTW bit in USBCMD register) that can cause the controller to ignore a dTD that is added to a primed endpoint. When this happens, the software can read the tripwire bit and the status bit at '1' even though the endpoint is unprimed. After executing a dTD, the device controller endpoint state machine executes a final read of the dTD terminate bit to check if the application added a dTD to the linked list at the last moment. This read is done in the finpkt_read_latest_next_td (44) state. After the read is performed, if the terminate bit is still set, the state machine moves to unprime the endpoint. The decision to unprime the endpoint is done in the checkqh_decision (59) state, based on the value of the terminate bit. Before reaching the checkqh_decision state, the state machine traverses the writeqhtd_status (57), writeqh_status (56), and release_prime_mask (42) states. As shown in the waveform, the ep_addtd_tripwire_clr signal is not set to clear the tripwire bit in these states. Workaround: The software must implement a periodic poll cycle, and check for each dTD pending on execution (Active = 1), if the enpoint is primed. It can do this by reading the corresponding bits in the ENDPTPRIME and ENDPTSTAT registers. If these bits are read at 0, the software needs to re-prime the endpoint by writing 1 to the corresponding bit in the ENDPTPRIME register. This can be done for every microframe, every frame or with a larger interval, depending on the urgency of transfer execution for the application. usb: gadget: remove unnecessary 'driver' argument now that no UDC driver relies on the extra 'driver' argument to ->udc_stop(), we can safely remove it. This commit is based on previous work by Robert Baldyga <r.baldyga@samsung.com> which can be found at [1]; however that patch turned out to have a high probability of regressing many UDC drivers because of a blind search & replace s/driver/$udc->driver/ which caused the 'driver' argument to stop_activity() to be a valid non-NULL pointer when it should be NULL, thus causing UDCs to mistakenly call gadget driver's ->disconnect() callback. usb: chipidea: udc: Disable auto ZLP generation on ep0 There are 2 methods for ZLP (zero-length packet) generation: 1) In software 2) Automatic generation by device controller 1) is implemented in UDC driver and it attaches ZLP to IN packet if descriptor->size < wLength 2) can be enabled/disabled by setting ZLT bit in the QH When gadget ffs is connected to ubuntu host, the host sends get descriptor request and wLength in setup packet is 255 while the size of descriptor which will be sent by gadget in IN packet is 64 byte. So the composite driver sets req->zero = 1. In UDC driver following code will be executed then if (hwreq->req.zero && hwreq->req.length && (hwreq->req.length % hwep->ep.maxpacket == 0)) add_td_to_list(hwep, hwreq, 0); Case-A: So in case of ubuntu host, UDC driver will attach a ZLP to the IN packet. ubuntu host will request 255 byte in IN request, gadget will send 64 byte with ZLP and host will come to know that there is no more data. But hold on, by default ZLT=0 for endpoint 0 so hardware also tries to automatically generate the ZLP which blocks enumeration for ~6 seconds due to endpoint 0 STALL, NAKs are sent to host for any requests (OUT/PING) Case-B: In case when gadget ffs is connected to Apple device, Apple device sends setup packet with wLength=64. So descriptor->size = 64 and wLength=64 therefore req->zero = 0 and UDC driver will not attach any ZLP to the IN packet. Apple device requests 64 bytes, gets 64 bytes and doesn't further request for IN data. But ZLT=0 by default for endpoint 0 so hardware tries to automatically generate the ZLP which blocks enumeration for ~6 seconds due to endpoint 0 STALL, NAKs are sent to host for any requests (OUT/PING) According to USB2.0 specs: 8.5.3.2 Variable-length Data Stage A control pipe may have a variable-length data phase in which the host requests more data than is contained in the specified data structure. When all of the data structure is returned to the host, the function should indicate that the Data stage is ended by returning a packet that is shorter than the MaxPacketSize for the pipe. If the data structure is an exact multiple of wMaxPacketSize for the pipe, the function will return a zero-length packet to indicate the end of the Data stage. In Case-A mentioned above: If we disable software ZLP generation & ZLT=0 for endpoint 0 OR if software ZLP generation is not disabled but we set ZLT=1 for endpoint 0 then enumeration doesn't block for 6 seconds. In Case-B mentioned above: If we disable software ZLP generation & ZLT=0 for endpoint then enumeration still blocks due to ZLP automatically generated by hardware and host not needing it. But if we keep software ZLP generation enabled but we set ZLT=1 for endpoint 0 then enumeration doesn't block for 6 seconds. So the proper solution for this issue seems to disable automatic ZLP generation by hardware (i.e by setting ZLT=1 for endpoint 0) and let software (UDC driver) handle the ZLP generation based on req->zero field. usb: chipidea: udc: using MultO at TD as real mult value for ISO-TX We have met a bug that the high bandwidth ISO-TX transfer has failed at the last packet if it is less than 1024, the TD status shows it is "Transaction Error". The root cause of this problem is: the mult value at qh is not correct for current TD's transfer length. We use TD list to queue un-transfer TDs, and change mult for new adding TDs. If new adding TDs transfer length less than 1024, but the queued un-transfer TDs transfer length is larger than 1024, the transfer error will occur, and vice versa. Usually, this problem occurs at the last packet, and the first packet for new frame. We fixed this problem by setting Mult at QH as the largest value (3), and set MultO (Multiplier Override) at TD according to every transfer length. It can cover both hardware version less than 2.3 (the real mult is MultO if it is not 0) and 2.3+ (the real mult is min(qh.mult, td.multo)). Since the MultO bits are only existed at TX TD, we keep the ISO-RX behavior unchanged. For stable tree: 3.11+. usb: gadget: add "maxpacket_limit" field to struct usb_ep This patch adds "maxpacket_limit" to struct usb_ep. This field contains maximum value of maxpacket supported by driver, and is set in driver probe. This value should be used by autoconfig() function, because value of field "maxpacket" is set to value from endpoint descriptor when endpoint becomes enabled. So when autoconfig() function will be called again for this endpoint, "maxpacket" value will contain wMaxPacketSize from descriptior instead of maximum packet size for this endpoint. For this reason this patch adds new field "maxpacket_limit" which contains value of maximum packet size (which defines maximum endpoint capabilities). This value is used in ep_matches() function used by autoconfig(). Value of "maxpacket_limit" should be set in UDC driver probe function, using usb_ep_set_maxpacket_limit() function, defined in gadget.h. This function set choosen value to both "maxpacket_limit" and "maxpacket" fields. This patch modifies UDC drivers by adding support for maxpacket_limit. usb: chipidea: udc: fix misuse of REGS_SHARED and PULLUP_ON_VBUS flags CI_HDRC_REGS_SHARED stands for the controller registers is shared with other USB drivers, if all USB drivers are at chipidea/, it doesn't needed to be set. CI_HDRC_PULLUP_ON_VBUS stands for pullup dp when the vbus is on. This flag doesn't need to be set if the vbus is always on for gadget since dp has always pulled up after the gadget has initialized. So, the current code seems to misuse this two flags. - When the gadget initializes, the controller doesn't need to run if it depends on vbus (CI_HDRC_PULLUP_ON_VBUS), it does not relate to shared register. - When the gadget starts (load one gadget module), the controller can run if vbus is on (CI_HDRC_PULLUP_ON_VBUS), it also does not relate to shared register. usb: chipidea: udc: add multiple td support to hardware_{en,de}queue This patch removes the restriction of having a limited amount of only four active tds on one endpoint. We use the linked list implementation to manage all tds which get added and removed by hardware_{en,de}queue. The removal of this restriction adds the driver to run into a hardware errata. It's possible that the hardware will still address an transfer descriptor that already got cleaned up. To solve this the patch also postpone the cleanup of processed tds by one. usb: chipidea: udc: fix memory access of shared memory on armv5 machines The udc uses an shared dma memory space between hard and software. This memory layout is described in ci13xxx_qh and ci13xxx_td which are marked with the attribute ((packed)). The compiler currently does not know about the alignment of the memory layout, and will create strb and ldrb operations. The Datasheet of the synopsys core describes, that some operations on the mapped memory need to be atomic double word operations. I.e. the next pointer addressing in the qhead, as otherwise the hardware will read wrong data and totally stuck. This is also possible while working with the current active td queue, and preparing the td->ptr.next in software while the hardware is still working with the current active td which is supposed to be changed: writeb(0xde, &td->ptr.next + 0x0); /* strb */ writeb(0xad, &td->ptr.next + 0x1); /* strb */ <----- hardware reads value of td->ptr.next and get stuck! writeb(0xbe, &td->ptr.next + 0x2); /* strb */ writeb(0xef, &td->ptr.next + 0x3); /* strb */ This appeares on armv5 machines where the hardware does not support unaligned 32bit operations. This patch adds the attribute ((aligned(4))) to the structures to tell the compiler to use 32bit operations. It also adds an wmb() for the prepared TD data before it gets enqueued into the qhead. usb: chipidea: udc: don't stall endpoint if request list is empty in isr_tr_complete_low When attaching an imx28 or imx53 in USB gadget mode to a Windows host and starting a rndis connection we see this message every 4-10 seconds: g_ether gadget: high speed config #2: RNDIS Analysis shows that each time this message is printed, the rndis connection is re-establish due to a reset because of a stalled endpoint (ep 0, dir 1). The endpoint is stalled because the reqeust complete bit on that endpoint is set, but in isr_tr_complete_low() the endpoint request list (mEp->qh.queue) is empty. This patch removed this check, because the code doesn't take the following situation into account: The loop over all endpoints in isr_tr_complete_handler() will call ep_nuke() on both ep0/dir0 and ep/dir1 in the first loop. Pending reqeusts will be flushed and completed here. There seems to be a race condition, the request is nuked, but the request complete bit will be set, too. The subsequent check (in ep0/dir1's loop cycle) for endpoint request list (mEp->qh.queue) empty will fail. Both other mainline chipidea drivers (mv_udc_core.c and fsl_udc_core.c) don't have this check. usb: chipidea: add host role This adds EHCI host support to the chipidea driver. We want it to be part of the hdrc driver and not a standalone (sub-)driver module, as the structure of ehci-hcd.c suggests, so for chipidea controller we hack it to not provide platform-related code, but only the ehci hcd. The ehci-platform driver won't work for us here too, because the controller uses the same registers for both device and host mode and also otg-related bits, so it's not really possible to put ehci registers into a separate resource. This is not a pretty solution, but the alternative is exporting symbols from the chipidea driver to a ehci-chipidea driver and doing all the module refcounting. usb: chipidea: add support for roles Add some generic code for roles and implement simple role switching based on ID pin state and/or a sysfs file. At this, we also rename the device to ci_hdrc, which is what it is. The "manual" switch is made into a sysfs file and not debugfs, because it might be useful even in non-debug context. For some boards, like sheevaplug, it seems to be the only way to switch roles without modifying the hardware, since the ID pin is always grounded.
