usb: host: u132-hcd: Delete driver This driver got its last actual change in 2006 and is probably unused as nowbody should use a cardbus to USB adapter any more. If it were still used, the driver was in urgent need for maintainer love. (Explicit kref handling, underdocumented locking, .remove() can return errors ...) Also the link in the (now removed) help text doesn't look actively maintained. According to archive.org it forwarded to http://www.copenhagen-hotel.net/ already back in 2018. usb: fotg210: Collect pieces of dual mode controller The Faraday FOTG210 is a dual-mode OTG USB controller that can act as host, peripheral or both. To be able to probe from one hardware description and to follow the pattern of other dual- mode controllers such as MUSB or MTU3 we need to collect the two, currently completely separate drivers in the same directory. After this, users need to select the main symbol USB_FOTG210 and then each respective subdriver. We pave the road to compile both drivers into the same kernel and select the one we want to use at probe() time, and possibly add OTG support in the end. This patch doesn't do much more than create the new symbol and collect the drivers in one place. We also add a comment for the section of dual-mode controllers in the Kconfig file so people can see what these selections are about. Also add myself as maintainer as there has been little response on my patches to these drivers. The Cadence USBSSP DRD Controller is a highly configurable IP Core which can be instantiated as Dual-Role Device (DRD), Peripheral Only and Host Only (XHCI)configurations. The current driver has been validated with FPGA platform. We have support for PCIe bus, which is used on FPGA prototyping. The host side of USBSS DRD controller is compliant with XHCI. USB: move usb debugfs directory creation to the usb common core The USB gadget subsystem wants to use the USB debugfs root directory, so move it to the common "core" USB code so that it is properly initialized and removed as needed. In order to properly do this, we need to load the common code before the usb core code, when everything is linked into the kernel, so reorder the link order of the code. Also as the usb common code has the possibility of the led trigger logic to be merged into it, handle the build option properly by only having one module init/exit function and have the common code initialize the led trigger if needed. usb: roles: Add Intel xHCI USB role switch driver Various Intel SoCs (Cherry Trail, Broxton and others) have an internal USB role switch for swiching the OTG USB data lines between the xHCI host controller and the dwc3 gadget controller. Note on some Cherry Trail systems there is ACPI/AML code listening to edge interrupts on the id-pin (through an _AIE ACPI method) and switching the role between ROLE_HOST and ROLE_NONE based on the id-pin. Note it does not set the role to ROLE_DEVICE, because device-mode is usually not used under Windows. The presence of AML code which modifies the cfg0 reg (on some systems) means that our read/write/modify of cfg0 may race with the AML code doing the same to avoid this we take the global ACPI lock while doing the read/write/modify. License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no license Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license. By default all files without license information are under the default license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2. Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0' SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text. This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and Philippe Ombredanne. How this work was done: Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of the use cases: - file had no licensing information it it. - file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it, - file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information, Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords. The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files. The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s) to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was: - Files considered eligible had to be source code files. - Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5 lines of source - File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5 lines). All documentation files were explicitly excluded. The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license identifiers to apply. - when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was considered to have no license information in it, and the top level COPYING file license applied. For non */uapi/* files that summary was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 11139 and resulted in the first patch in this series. If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930 and resulted in the second patch in this series. - if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in it (per prior point). Results summary: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------ GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 270 GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 169 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause) 21 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 17 LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 15 GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 14 ((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 5 LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 4 LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1 and that resulted in the third patch in this series. - when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became the concluded license(s). - when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a license but the other didn't, or they both detected different licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred. - In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics). - When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. - If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier, the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later in time. In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so they are related. Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks in about 15000 files. In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the correct identifier. Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch version early this week with: - a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected license ids and scores - reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+ files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct - reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the different types of files to be modified. These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to generate the patches. usb/early: Add driver for xhci debug capability XHCI debug capability (DbC) is an optional but standalone functionality provided by an xHCI host controller. Software learns this capability by walking through the extended capability list of the host. XHCI specification describes DbC in section 7.6. This patch introduces the code to probe and initialize the debug capability hardware during early boot. With hardware initialized, the debug target (system on which this code is running) will present a debug device through the debug port (normally the first USB3 port). The debug device is fully compliant with the USB framework and provides the equivalent of a very high performance (USB3) full-duplex serial link between the debug host and target. The DbC functionality is independent of the xHCI host. There isn't any precondition from the xHCI host side for the DbC to work. One use for this feature is kernel debugging, for example when your machine crashes very early before the regular console code is initialized. Other uses include simpler, lockless logging instead of a full-blown printk console driver and klogd. However, if CONFIG_USB is disabled and we only support gadget mode, this causes a Kconfig warning: warning: (USB_FSL_USB2) selects USB_FSL_MPH_DR_OF which has unmet direct dependencies (USB_SUPPORT && USB) We can avoid this warning by simply no longer using the symbol, and making sure we enter the drivers/usb/host/ directory when the UDC driver is enabled that needs the file, and then we use Makefile syntax to ensure the file is built-in if needed. usb: phy: make PHY driver selection possible by controller drivers Convert PHY Drivers from menuconfig to menu so that the PHY drivers can be explicitely selected by the controller drivers. USB_PHY is no longer a user visible option. It is upto to the PHY drivers to select it if needed. This patch does so for the existing PHY drivers that use the USB_PHY library. Doing so moves the USB_PHY and PHY driver selection problem from the end user to the PHY and controller driver developer. e.g. Earlier, a controller driver (e.g. EHCI_OMAP) that needs to select a PHY driver (e.g. NOP_PHY) couldn't do so because the PHY driver depended on USB_PHY. Making the controller driver depend on USB_PHY has a negative effect i.e. it becomes invisible to the user till USB_PHY is enabled. Most end users will not familiar with this. With this patch, the end user just needs to select the controller driver needed for his/her platform without worrying about which PHY driver to select. Also update USB_EHCI_MSM, USB_LPC32XX and USB_OMAP to not depend on USB_PHY any more. They can safely select the necessary PHY drivers. [ balbi@ti.com : refreshed on top of my next branch. usb: Makefile: fix drivers/usb/phy/ Makefile entry drivers/usb/phy/ should be compiled everytime we have CONFIG_USB_OTG_UTILS enabled. phy/ should've been part of the build process based on CONFIG_USB_OTG_UTILS, don't know where I had my head when I allowed CONFIG_USB_COMMON there. In fact commit c6156328dec52a55f90688cbfad21c83f8711d84 tried to fix a previous issue but it made things even worse. The real solution is to compile phy/ based on CONFIG_USB_OTG_UTILS which gets selected by all PHY drivers. I only triggered the error recently after accepting a patch which moved a bunch of code from otg/otg.c to phy/phy.c and running 100 randconfig cycles. USB: Add driver for NXP ISP1301 USB transceiver This new driver registers the NXP ISP1301 chip via the I2C subsystem. The chip is the USB transceiver shared by ohci-nxp, lpc32xx_udc (gadget) and isp1301_omap. ISP1301 is a very low-level driver that primarily separates out the I2C client registration of the ISP1301 chip (including instantiation via DT), used by other drivers, and declares the chip's registers. It's only a helper driver for some OHCI and USB device drivers. The driver can be considered as a register set extension of ohci-nxp, lpc32xx-udc and isp1301_omap, which in turn know best what to do with the low level functionality (individual ISP1301 registers and timing, see the different initialization strategies in those drivers). Those drivers previously internally duplicated ISP1301 register definitions which is solved by this new isp1301 driver. The ISP1301 registers exposed via isp1301.h can be accessed by other drivers using it with standard i2c_smbus_*() accesses. Following patches let the respective USB host and gadget drivers use this driver, instead of duplicating ISP1301 handling. usb: Provide usb_speed_string() function In a few places in the kernel, the code prints a human-readable USB device speed (eg. "high speed"). This involves a switch statement sometimes wrapped around in ({ ... }) block leading to code repetition. To mitigate this issue, this commit introduces usb_speed_string() function, which returns a human-readable name of provided speed. It also changes a few places switch was used to use this new function. This changes a bit the way the speed is printed in few instances at the same time standardising it. usb: Introduce DesignWare USB3 DRD Driver The DesignWare USB3 is a highly configurable IP Core which can be instantiated as Dual-Role Device (DRD), Peripheral Only and Host Only (XHCI) configurations. Several other parameters can be configured like amount of FIFO space, amount of TX and RX endpoints, amount of Host Interrupters, etc. The current driver has been validated with a virtual model of version 1.73a of that core and with an FPGA burned with version 1.83a of the DRD core. We have support for PCIe bus, which is used on FPGA prototyping, and for the OMAP5, more adaptation (or glue) layers can be easily added and the driver is half prepared to handle any possible configuration the HW engineer has chosen considering we have the information on one of the GHWPARAMS registers to do runtime checking of certain features. More runtime checks can, and should, be added in order to make this driver even more flexible with regards to number of endpoints, FIFO sizes, transfer types, etc. While this supports only the device side, for now, we will add support for Host side (xHCI - see the updated series Sebastian has sent [1]) and OTG after we have it all stabilized. Then this device is not compatible with EHCI and/or OHCI, I wrote driver support patch based on sl811 code. This driver has the following unique specifications: - Implement transfer timeout to share one pipe with plural endpoint. - Detach detection of a USB device connected to externel hub. Move USB network drivers to drivers/net/usb. It is preferable to group drivers by usage (net, scsi, ATA, ...) than by bus. When reviewing drivers, the [PCI|USB|PCMCIA|...] maintainer is probably less qualified on networking issues than a networking maintainer. Also, from a practical standpoint, chips often appear on multiple buses, which is why we do not put drivers into drivers/pci/net. USB: u132-hcd: host controller driver for ELAN U132 adapter This "u132-hcd" module is one half of the "driver" for ELAN's U132 which is a USB to CardBus OHCI controller adapter. This module needs the "ftdi-elan" module in order to communicate to CardBus OHCI controller inserted into the U132 adapter. When the "ftdi-elan" module detects a supported CardBus OHCI controller in the U132 adapter it loads this "u132-hcd" module. Upon a successful device probe() the single workqueue is started up which does all the processing of commands from the USB core that implement the host controller. The workqueue maintains the urb queues and issues commands via the functions exported by the "ftdi-elan" module. Each such command will result in a callback. Note that the "ftdi-elan" module is a USB client driver. Note that this "u132-hcd" module is a (cut-down OHCI) host controller. Thus we have a topology with the parent of a host controller being a USB client! This really stresses the USB subsystem semaphore/mutex handling in the module removal. USB: ftdi-elan: client driver for ELAN Uxxx adapters This "ftdi-elan" module is one half of the "driver" for ELAN's Uxxx series adapters which are USB to PCMCIA CardBus adapters. Currently only the U132 adapter is available and it's module is called "u132-hcd". When the USB hot plug subsystem detects a Uxxx series adapter it should load this module. Upon a successful device probe() the jtag device file interface is created and the status workqueue started up. The jtag device file interface exists for the purpose of updating the firmware in the Uxxx series adapter, but as yet it had never been used. The status workqueue initializes the Uxxx and then sits there polling the Uxxx until a supported PCMCIA CardBus device is detected it will start the command and respond workqueues and then load the module that handles the device. This will initially be only the u132-hcd module. The status workqueue then just polls the Uxxx looking for card ejects. The command and respond workqueues implement a command sequencer for communicating with the firmware on the other side of the FTDI chip in the Uxxx. This "ftdi-elan" module exports some functions to interface with the sequencer. Note that this module is a USB client driver. Note that the "u132-hcd" module is a (cut-down OHCI) host controller. Thus we have a topology with the parent of a host controller being a USB client! This really stresses the USB subsystem semaphore/mutex handling in the module removal. [PATCH] USB: rename Cypress CY7C63xxx driver to proper name and fix up some tiny things This is a new driver for the Cypress CY7C63xxx mirco controller series. It currently supports the pre-programmed CYC63001A-PC by AK Modul-Bus GmbH. It's based on a kernel 2.4 driver (cyport) by Marcus Maul which I ported to kernel 2.6 using sysfs. I intend to support more controllers of this family (and more features) as soon as I get hold of the required IDs etc. Please see the source code's header for more information. V4L/DVB (3599a): Move drivers/usb/media to drivers/media/video Because of historic reasons, there are two separate directories with V4L stuff. Most drivers are located at driver/media/video. However, some code for USB Webcams were inserted under drivers/usb/media. This makes difficult for module authors to know were things should be. Also, makes Kconfig menu confusing for normal users. This patch moves all V4L content under drivers/usb/media to drivers/media/video, and fixes Kconfig/Makefile entries. [PATCH] USB: add support for OCHI on AT91rm9200 This adds support for OHCI on AT91rm9200 based boards. Possibly of interest here is the way this uses <linux/clk.h> to gate clocks on/off during system pm state transitions. That's typical for non-PCI systems. Some can go further; Mini-A host side connectors enable ID-pin sensing. [PATCH] USB: move handoff code This moves the PCI quirk handling for USB host controllers from the PCI directory to the USB directory. Follow-on patches will need to: (a) merge these copies with the originals in the HCD reset methods. they don't wholly agree, despite doing the very same thing; and (b) eventually change it so "usb-handoff" is the default, to help get more robust USB/BIOS/input/... interactions. [PATCH] USB: add ldusb driver The following driver provides complete interrupt-in and interrupt-out reports (raw data) to a user program. Until now it uses the HIDIOCGDEVINFO ioctl call, because I don't know better :-(. Perhaps, it will be ok for you - and I will be happy, if you assign 8 minor numbers. I have tested it in several environments and it works very well for me. However, it has a problem with two or more devices at the same hub, if the two or more devices need 1 ms interrupt-in transfers. Unfortunately more than one interrupt-in transfer every ms isn't possible (ehci driver?). This is why the min_interrupt_in_interval and min_interrupt_out_interval are increased to 2 ms (see the corresponding module parameters). This way, I can use two devices simultaneously at the same hub. Signed-off-by: Michael Hund <mhund@ld-didactic.de> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@suse.de>

[PATCH] USB: Add isp116x-hcd USB host controller driver This patch provides an "isp116x-hcd" driver for Philips' ISP1160/ISP1161 USB host controllers. The driver: - is relatively small, meant for use on embedded platforms. - runs usbtests 1-14 without problems for days. - has been in use by 6-7 different people on ARM and PPC platforms, running a range of devices including USB hubs. - supports suspend/resume of both the platform device and the root hub; supports remote wakeup of the root hub (but NOT the platform device) by USB devices. - does NOT support ISO transfers (nobody has asked for them). - is PIO-only. Linux-2.6.12-rc2 Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
