block: remove support for the host aware zone model

When zones were first added the SCSI and ATA specs, two different
models were supported (in addition to the drive managed one that
is invisible to the host):

- host managed where non-conventional zones there is strict requirement
to write at the write pointer, or else an error is returned
- host aware where a write point is maintained if writes always happen
at it, otherwise it is left in an under-defined state and the
sequential write preferred zones behave like conventional zones
(probably very badly performing ones, though)

Not surprisingly this lukewarm model didn't prove to be very useful and
was finally removed from the ZBC and SBC specs (NVMe never implemented
it). Due to to the easily disappearing write pointer host software
could never rely on the write pointer to actually be useful for say
recovery.

Fortunately only a few HDD prototypes shipped using this model which
never made it to mass production. Drop the support before it is too
late. Note that any such host aware prototype HDD can still be used
with Linux as we'll now treat it as a conventional HDD.

scsi: sd_zbc: Set zone limits before revalidating zones

In sd_zbc_revalidate_zones(), execute blk_queue_chunk_sectors() and
blk_queue_max_zone_append_sectors() to respectively set a ZBC device
zone size and maximum zone append sector limit before executing
blk_revalidate_disk_zones(). This is to allow the block layer zone
reavlidation to check these device characteristics prior to checking all
zones of the device.

Since blk_queue_max_zone_append_sectors() already caps the device
maximum zone append limit to the zone size and to the maximum command
size, the max_append value passed to blk_queue_max_zone_append_sectors()
is simplified to the maximum number of segments times the number of
sectors per page.

scsi: sd: Fix wrong zone_write_granularity value during revalidate

When the sd driver revalidates host-managed SMR disks, it calls
disk_set_zoned() which changes the zone_write_granularity attribute value
to the logical block size regardless of the device type. After that, the sd
driver overwrites the value in sd_zbc_read_zone() with the physical block
size, since ZBC/ZAC requires this for host-managed disks. Between the calls
to disk_set_zoned() and sd_zbc_read_zone(), there exists a window where the
attribute shows the logical block size as the zone_write_granularity value,
which is wrong for host-managed disks. The duration of the window is from
20ms to 200ms, depending on report zone command execution time.

To avoid the wrong zone_write_granularity value between disk_set_zoned()
and sd_zbc_read_zone(), modify the value not in sd_zbc_read_zone() but
just after disk_set_zoned() call.

scsi: sd: Use 16-byte SYNCHRONIZE CACHE on ZBC devices

ZBC Zoned Block Commands specification mandates SYNCHRONIZE CACHE(16) for
host-managed zoned block devices, but does not mandate SYNCHRONIZE
CACHE(10). Call SYNCHRONIZE CACHE(16) in place of SYNCHRONIZE CACHE(10) to
ensure that the command is always supported. For this purpose, add
use_16_for_sync flag to struct scsi_device in same manner as use_16_for_rw
flag.

To be precise, ZBC does not mandate SYNCHRONIZE CACHE(16) for host-aware
zoned block devices. However, modern devices should support 16-byte
commands. Hence, call SYNCHRONIZE CACHE (16) on both types of ZBC devices,
host-aware and host-managed. Of note is that READ(16) and WRITE(16) have
same story and they are already called for both types of ZBC devices.

Another note is that this patch depends on the fix commit ea045fd344cb
("ata: libata-scsi: fix SYNCHRONIZE CACHE (16) command failure").

treewide: Rename enum req_opf into enum req_op

The type name enum req_opf is misleading since it suggests that values of
this type include both an operation type and flags. Since values of this
type represent an operation only, change the type name into enum req_op.

Convert the enum req_op documentation into kernel-doc format. Move a few
definitions such that the enum req_op documentation occurs just above
the enum req_op definition.

The name "req_opf" was introduced by commit ef295ecf090d ("block: better op
and flags encoding").

scsi: sd_zbc: Prevent zone information memory leak

Make sure to always free a scsi disk zone information, even for regular
disks. This ensures that there is no memory leak, even in the case of a
zoned disk changing type to a regular disk (e.g. with a reformat using the
FORMAT WITH PRESET command or other vendor proprietary command).

To do this, rename sd_zbc_clear_zone_info() to sd_zbc_free_zone_info() and
remove sd_zbc_release_disk(). A call to sd_zbc_free_zone_info() is added to
sd_zbc_read_zones() for drives for which sd_is_zoned() returns
false. Furthermore, sd_zbc_free_zone_info() code make s sure that the sdkp
rev_mutex is never used while not being initialized by gating the cleanup
code with a a check on the zone_wp_update_buf field as it is never NULL
when rev_mutex has been initialized.

ZBC-2 allows host-managed disks to report gap zones. This allow zoned disks
to report an offset between data zone starts that is a power of two even if
the number of logical blocks with data per zone is not a power of two.

Another new feature in ZBC-2 is support for constant zone starting LBA
offsets. For zoned disks that report a constant zone starting LBA offset,
hide the gap zones from the block layer. Report the offset between data
zone starts as zone size and report the number of logical blocks with data
per zone as the zone capacity.

According to the ZBC (and ZAC) specification, a zone that has Zone Type set
to Conventional, must also have its Zone Condition set to "Not Write
Pointer".

the zone full condition check.

using 32-bit arithmetic, and then used in a context that expects an
expression of type sector_t (64 bits, unsigned).

scsi: sd_zbc: Ensure buffer size is aligned to SECTOR_SIZE

Reporting zones on a SCSI device sometimes fail with the following error:

[76248.516390] ata16.00: invalid transfer count 131328
[76248.523618] sd 15:0:0:0: [sda] REPORT ZONES start lba 536870912 failed

The error (from drivers/ata/libata-scsi.c:ata_scsi_zbc_in_xlat()) indicates
that buffer size is not aligned to SECTOR_SIZE.

This happens when the __vmalloc() failed. Consider we are reporting 4096
zones, then we will have "bufsize = roundup((4096 + 1) * 64,
SECTOR_SIZE)" = (513 * 512) = 262656. Then, __vmalloc() failure halves
the bufsize to 131328, which is no longer aligned to SECTOR_SIZE.

Use rounddown() to ensure the size is always aligned to SECTOR_SIZE and fix
the comment as well.

Replace the check for DRIVER_SENSE with a check for
scsi_status_is_check_condition().

Audit all callsites to ensure the SAM status is set correctly. For

sg, bsg, and scsi_ioctl to set the DRIVER_SENSE driver_status whenever
SAM_STAT_CHECK_CONDITION is present.

scsi: sd: sd_zbc: Don't pass GFP_NOIO to kvcalloc

Dan reported we're passing in GFP_NOIO to kvmalloc() which will then
fallback to doing kmalloc() instead of an optional vmalloc() if the size
exceeds kmalloc()s limits. This will break with drives that have zone
numbers exceeding PAGE_SIZE/sizeof(u32).

Instead of passing in GFP_NOIO, enter an implicit GFP_NOIO allocation
scope.

sd_zbc: clear zone resources for non-zoned case

For host-aware ZBC disk, setting the device zoned model to BLK_ZONED_HA
using blk_queue_set_zoned() in sd_read_block_characteristics() may
result in the block device effective zoned model to be "none"
(BLK_ZONED_NONE) if partitions are present on the device. In this case,
sd_zbc_read_zones() should not setup the zone related queue limits for
the disk so that the device limits and configuration is consistent with
a regular disk and resources not uselessly allocated (e.g. the zone
write pointer tracking array for zone append emulation).

Furthermore, if the disk zoned model changes at run time due to the
creation of a partition by the user, the zone related resources can be
released.

Fix both problems by introducing the function sd_zbc_clear_zone_info()
to reset the scsi disk zone information and free resources and by
returning early in sd_zbc_read_zones() for a block device that has a
zoned model equal to BLK_ZONED_NONE.

block: introduce zone_write_granularity limit

Per ZBC and ZAC specifications, host-managed SMR hard-disks mandate that
all writes into sequential write required zones be aligned to the device
physical block size. However, NVMe ZNS does not have this constraint and
allows write operations into sequential zones to be aligned to the
device logical block size. This inconsistency does not help with
software portability across device types.

To solve this, introduce the zone_write_granularity queue limit to
indicate the alignment constraint, in bytes, of write operations into
zones of a zoned block device. This new limit is exported as a
read-only sysfs queue attribute and the helper
blk_queue_zone_write_granularity() introduced for drivers to set this
limit.

The function blk_queue_set_zoned() is modified to set this new limit to
the device logical block size by default. NVMe ZNS devices as well as
zoned nullb devices use this default value as is. The scsi disk driver
is modified to execute the blk_queue_zone_write_granularity() helper to
set the zone write granularity of host-managed SMR disks to the disk
physical block size.

The accessor functions queue_zone_write_granularity() and
bdev_zone_write_granularity() are also introduced.

When CONFIG_BLK_DEV_ZONED is disabled, allow using host-aware ZBC disks as
regular disks. In this case, ensure that command completion is correctly
executed by changing sd_zbc_complete() to return good_bytes instead of 0
and causing a hang during device probe (endless retries).

When CONFIG_BLK_DEV_ZONED is enabled and a host-aware disk is detected to
have partitions, it will be used as a regular disk. In this case, make sure
to not do anything in sd_zbc_revalidate_zones() as that triggers warnings.

Since all these different cases result in subtle settings of the disk queue
zoned model, introduce the block layer helper function
blk_queue_set_zoned() to generically implement setting up the effective
zoned model according to the disk type, the presence of partitions on the
disk and CONFIG_BLK_DEV_ZONED configuration.

scsi: sd_zbc: Improve zone revalidation

Currently, for zoned disks, since blk_revalidate_disk_zones() requires the
disk capacity to be set already to operate correctly, zones revalidation
can only be done on the second revalidate scan once the gendisk capacity is
set at the end of the first scan. As a result, if zone revalidation fails,
there is no second chance to recover from the failure and the disk capacity
is changed to 0, with the disk left unusable.

This can be improved by shuffling around code, specifically, by moving the
call to sd_zbc_revalidate_zones() from sd_zbc_read_zones() to the end of
sd_revalidate_disk(), after set_capacity_revalidate_and_notify() is called
to set the gendisk capacity. With this change, if sd_zbc_revalidate_zones()
fails on the first scan, the second scan will call it again to recover, if
possible.

Using the new struct scsi_disk fields rev_nr_zones and rev_zone_blocks,
sd_zbc_revalidate_zones() does actual work only if it detects a change with
the disk zone configuration. This means that for a successful zones
revalidation on the first scan, the second scan will not cause another
heavy full check.

While at it, remove the unecesary "extern" declaration of
sd_zbc_read_zones().

Add the new max_active_zones member to struct request_queue, rather

drivers.

For SCSI devices, even though max active zones is not part of the ZBC/ZAC
spec, export max_active_zones as 0, signifying "no limit".

In the zoned storage model, the sectors within a zone are typically all
writeable. With the introduction of the Zoned Namespace (ZNS) Command
Set in the NVM Express organization, the model was extended to have a
specific writeable capacity.

Extend the zone descriptor data structure with a zone capacity field to
indicate to the user how many sectors in a zone are writeable.

Introduce backward compatibility in the zone report ioctl by extending
the zone report header data structure with a flags field to indicate if
the capacity field is available.

scsi: sd_zbc: emulate ZONE_APPEND commands

Emulate ZONE_APPEND for SCSI disks using a regular WRITE(16) command
with a start LBA set to the target zone write pointer position.

In order to always know the write pointer position of a sequential write
zone, the write pointer of all zones is tracked using an array of 32bits
zone write pointer offset attached to the scsi disk structure. Each
entry of the array indicate a zone write pointer position relative to
the zone start sector. The write pointer offsets are maintained in sync
with the device as follows:
1) the write pointer offset of a zone is reset to 0 when a
REQ_OP_ZONE_RESET command completes.
2) the write pointer offset of a zone is set to the zone size when a
REQ_OP_ZONE_FINISH command completes.
3) the write pointer offset of a zone is incremented by the number of
512B sectors written when a write, write same or a zone append
command completes.
4) the write pointer offset of all zones is reset to 0 when a
REQ_OP_ZONE_RESET_ALL command completes.

Since the block layer does not write lock zones for zone append
commands, to ensure a sequential ordering of the regular write commands
used for the emulation, the target zone of a zone append command is
locked when the function sd_zbc_prepare_zone_append() is called from
sd_setup_read_write_cmnd(). If the zone write lock cannot be obtained
(e.g. a zone append is in-flight or a regular write has already locked
the zone), the zone append command dispatching is delayed by returning
BLK_STS_ZONE_RESOURCE.

To avoid the need for write locking all zones for REQ_OP_ZONE_RESET_ALL
requests, use a spinlock to protect accesses and modifications of the
zone write pointer offsets. This spinlock is initialized from sd_probe()
using the new function sd_zbc_init().

scsi: sd_sbc: Fix sd_zbc_report_zones()

The block layer generic blk_revalidate_disk_zones() checks the validity of
zone descriptors reported by a disk using the blk_revalidate_zone_cb()
callback function executed for each zone descriptor. If a ZBC disk reports
invalid zone descriptors, blk_revalidate_disk_zones() returns an error and
sd_zbc_read_zones() changes the disk capacity to 0, which in turn results
in the gendisk structure capacity to be set to 0. This all works well for
the first revalidate pass on a disk and the block layer detects the
capactiy change.

On the second revalidate pass, blk_revalidate_disk_zones() is called again
and sd_zbc_report_zones() executed to check the zones a second time.
However, for this second pass, the gendisk capacity is now 0, which results
in sd_zbc_report_zones() to do nothing and to report success and no
zones. blk_revalidate_disk_zones() in turn returns success and sets the
disk queue chunk_sectors limit with zero as no zones were checked, causing
a oops to trigger on the BUG_ON(!is_power_of_2(chunk_sectors)) in
blk_queue_chunk_sectors().

Fix this by using the sdkp capacity field rather than the gendisk capacity
for the report zones loop in sd_zbc_report_zones(). Also add a check to
return immediately an error if the sdkp capacity is 0. With this fix,
invalid/buggy ZBC disk scan does not trigger a oops and are exposed with a

The current zone revalidation code has a major problem in that it
doesn't update the zone size and q->nr_zones atomically, leading
to a short window where an out of bounds access to the zone arrays
is possible.

To fix this move the setting of the zone size into the crticial
sections blk_revalidate_disk_zones so that it gets updated together
with the zone bitmaps and q->nr_zones. This also slightly simplifies
the caller as it deducts the zone size from the report_zones.

This change also allows to check for a power of two zone size in generic
code.

scsi: sd_zbc: Cleanup sd_zbc_alloc_report_buffer()

There is no need to arbitrarily limit the size of a report zone to the
number of zones defined by SD_ZBC_REPORT_MAX_ZONES. Rather, simply
calculate the report buffer size needed for the requested number of
zones without exceeding the device total number of zones. This buffer
size limitation to the hardware maximum transfer size and page mapping
capabilities is kept unchanged. Starting with this initial buffer size,
the allocation is optimized by iterating over decreasing buffer size
until the allocation succeeds (each iteration is allowed to fail fast
using the __GFP_NORETRY flag). This ensures forward progress for zone
reports and avoids failures of zones revalidation under memory pressure.

While at it, also replace the hard coded 512 B sector size with the
SECTOR_SIZE macro.

block: Enhance blk_revalidate_disk_zones()

For ZBC and ZAC zoned devices, the scsi driver revalidation processing
implemented by sd_revalidate_disk() includes a call to
sd_zbc_read_zones() which executes a full disk zone report used to
check that all zones of the disk are the same size. This processing is
followed by a call to blk_revalidate_disk_zones(), used to initialize
the device request queue zone bitmaps (zone type and zone write lock
bitmaps). To do so, blk_revalidate_disk_zones() also executes a full
device zone report to obtain zone types. As a result, the entire
zoned block device revalidation process includes two full device zone
report.

By moving the zone size checks into blk_revalidate_disk_zones(), this
process can be optimized to a single full device zone report, leading to
shorter device scan and revalidation times. This patch implements this
optimization, reducing the original full device zone report implemented
in sd_zbc_check_zones() to a single, small, report zones command
execution to obtain the size of the first zone of the device. Checks
whether all zones of the device are the same size as the first zone
size are moved to the generic blk_check_zone() function called from
blk_revalidate_disk_zones().

This optimization also has the following benefits:
1) fewer memory allocations in the scsi layer during disk revalidation
as the potentailly large buffer for zone report execution is not
needed.
2) Implement zone checks in a generic manner, reducing the burden on
device driver which only need to obtain the zone size and check that
this size is a power of 2 number of LBAs. Any new type of zoned
block device will benefit from this.

The ILLEGAL REQUEST/INVALID FIELD IN CDB error generated by an attempt to
reset a conventional zone does not apply to the reset write pointer command
with the ALL bit set, that is, to REQ_OP_ZONE_RESET_ALL requests. Fix
sd_zbc_complete() to be quiet only in the case of REQ_OP_ZONE_RESET,
excluding REQ_OP_ZONE_RESET_ALL.

Since REQ_OP_ZONE_RESET is the only request handled by sd_zbc_complete(),
also simplify the code using a simple if statement.

sd_zbc: Fix report zones buffer allocation

During disk scan and revalidation done with sd_revalidate(), the zones
of a zoned disk are checked using the helper function
blk_revalidate_disk_zones() if a configuration change is detected
(change in the number of zones or zone size). The function
blk_revalidate_disk_zones() issues report_zones calls that are very
large, that is, to obtain zone information for all zones of the disk
with a single command. The size of the report zones command buffer
necessary for such large request generally is lower than the disk
max_hw_sectors and KMALLOC_MAX_SIZE (4MB) and succeeds on boot (no
memory fragmentation), but often fail at run time (e.g. hot-plug
event). This causes the disk revalidation to fail and the disk
capacity to be changed to 0.

This problem can be avoided by using vmalloc() instead of kmalloc() for
the buffer allocation. To limit the amount of memory to be allocated,
this patch also introduces the arbitrary SD_ZBC_REPORT_MAX_ZONES
maximum number of zones to report with a single report zones command.
This limit may be lowered further to satisfy the disk max_hw_sectors
limit. Finally, to ensure that the vmalloc-ed buffer can always be
mapped in a request, the buffer size is further limited to at most
queue_max_segments() pages, allowing successful mapping of the buffer
even in the worst case scenario where none of the buffer pages are
contiguous.

The function sd_zbc_do_report_zones() issues a REPORT ZONES command with a
buffer size calculated based on the number of zones requested by the
caller. This value should however not exceed the capabilities of the
hardware maximum command size, that is, should not exceed the
max_hw_sectors limit of the device. This problem leads to failures of
report zones commands when re-validating disks with some SAS HBAs.

Fix this by limiting a report zone command buffer size to the minimum of
the device max_hw_sectors and calculated value based on the requested
number of zones. This does not change the semantic of the report_zones file
operation as report zones can always return less zone reports than
requested. Short reports are handled using a loop execution of the
report_zones file operation in the function blk_report_zones().

[Damien]
Before patch 'e76239a3748c ("block: add a report_zones method")', report
zones buffer allocation was limited to max_sectors when allocated in
blk_report_zones(). This however does not consider the actual format of the
device reply which is interface dependent. Limiting the allocation based
on the size of the expected reply format rather than the size of the array
of generic sturct blkzone passed by blk_report_zones() makes more sense.

inadvertently broke the message output of sd_zbc_print_zones() because the
zone information initialization of the scsi disk structure was moved to the
second scan run while sd_zbc_print_zones() is called on the first
scan. This leads to the following incorrect message to be printed for any
ZBC or ZAC zoned disks.

"...[sdX] 4294967295 zones of 0 logical blocks + 1 runt zone"

Fix this by initializing sdkp zone size and number of zones early on the
first scan. This does not impact the execution of
blk_revalidate_zones(). This functions is still called only once the block
device capacity is set on the second revalidate run on boot, or if the disk
zone configuration changed (i.e. the disk changed).

block: Introduce blk_revalidate_disk_zones()

Drivers exposing zoned block devices have to initialize and maintain
correctness (i.e. revalidate) of the device zone bitmaps attached to
the device request queue (seq_zones_bitmap and seq_zones_wlock).

To simplify coding this, introduce a generic helper function
blk_revalidate_disk_zones() suitable for most (and likely all) cases.
This new function always update the seq_zones_bitmap and seq_zones_wlock
bitmaps as well as the queue nr_zones field when called for a disk
using a request based queue. For a disk using a BIO based queue, only
the number of zones is updated since these queues do not have
schedulers and so do not need the zone bitmaps.

With this change, the zone bitmap initialization code in sd_zbc.c can be
replaced with a call to this function in sd_zbc_read_zones(), which is
called from the disk revalidate block operation method.

A call to blk_revalidate_disk_zones() is also added to the null_blk
driver for devices created with the zoned mode enabled.

Finally, to ensure that zoned devices created with dm-linear or
dm-flakey expose the correct number of zones through sysfs, a call to
blk_revalidate_disk_zones() is added to dm_table_set_restrictions().

The zone bitmaps allocated and initialized with
blk_revalidate_disk_zones() are freed automatically from
__blk_release_queue() using the block internal function
blk_queue_free_zone_bitmaps().

block: add a report_zones method

Dispatching a report zones command through the request queue is a major
pain due to the command reply payload rewriting necessary. Given that
blkdev_report_zones() is executing everything synchronously, implement
report zones as a block device file operation instead, allowing major
simplification of the code in many places.

sd, null-blk, dm-linear and dm-flakey being the only block device
drivers supporting exposing zoned block devices, these drivers are
modified to provide the device side implementation of the
report_zones() block device file operation.

For device mappers, a new report_zones() target type operation is
defined so that the upper block layer calls blkdev_report_zones() can
be propagated down to the underlying devices of the dm targets.
Implementation for this new operation is added to the dm-linear and
dm-flakey targets.

avoid overflowing the signed 32 return value.

scsi: sd_zbc: Reduce boot device scan and revalidate time

Handling checks of ZBC device capacity using the max_lba field of the
REPORT ZONES command reply for disks with rc_basis == 0 can be done
using the same report zones command reply used to check the "same"
field.

Avoid executing a report zones command solely to check the disk capacity
by merging sd_zbc_check_capacity() into sd_zbc_check_zone_size() and
renaming that function to sd_zbc_check_zones(). This removes a costly
execution of a full report zones command and so reduces device scan
duration at boot time as well as the duration of disk revalidate calls.

Furthermore, setting the partial report bit in the REPORT ZONES command
cdb can significantly reduce this command execution time as the device
does not have to count and report the total number of zones that could
be reported assuming a large enough reply buffer. A non-partial zone
report is necessary only for the first execution of report zones used to
check the same field value (to ensure that this value applies to all
zones of the disk). All other calls to sd_zbc_report_zones() can use a
partial report to reduce execution time.

Using a 14 TB ZBC disk, these simple changes reduce device scan time at
boot from about 3.5s down to about 900ms. Disk revalidate times are also
reduced from about 450ms down to 230ms.

scsi: sd_zbc: Rearrange code

Move the urswrz check out of sd_zbc_read_zones() and into
sd_zbc_read_zoned_characteristics() where that value is obtained (read
from the disk zoned characteristics VPD page). Since this function now
does more than simply reading the VPD page, rename it to
sd_zbc_check_zoned_characteristics().
Also fix the error message displayed when reading that VPD page fails.

scsi: sd_zbc: Fix variable type and bogus comment

Fix the description of sd_zbc_check_zone_size() to correctly explain that
the returned value is a number of device blocks, not bytes. Additionally,
the 32 bits "ret" variable used in this function may truncate the 64 bits
zone_blocks variable value upon return. To fix this, change "ret" type to
s64.

scsi: sd_zbc: Remove an assignment from sd_zbc_setup_report_cmnd()

Since nr_bytes == blk_rq_bytes(rq) == rq->__data_len, the
rq->__data_len = nr_bytes assignment does not modify the value of
rq->__data_len. Hence remove that assignment. Note: the code in
sd_done() that sets the residual to zero for zone report requests
is not affected by this patch.

The kzalloc_node() function has a 2-factor argument form, kcalloc_node(). This
patch replaces cases of:

kzalloc_node(a * b, gfp, node)

with:
kcalloc_node(a * b, gfp, node)

as well as handling cases of:

kzalloc_node(a * b * c, gfp, node)

with:

kzalloc_node(array3_size(a, b, c), gfp, node)

as it's slightly less ugly than:

This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like:

though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion.

Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were

scsi: sd_zbc: Avoid that resetting a zone fails sporadically

Since SCSI scanning occurs asynchronously, since sd_revalidate_disk() is
called from sd_probe_async() and since sd_revalidate_disk() calls
sd_zbc_read_zones() it can happen that sd_zbc_read_zones() is called
concurrently with blkdev_report_zones() and/or blkdev_reset_zones(). That can
cause these functions to fail with -EIO because sd_zbc_read_zones() e.g. sets
q->nr_zones to zero before restoring it to the actual value, even if no drive
characteristics have changed. Avoid that this can happen by making the
following changes:

- Protect the code that updates zone information with blk_queue_enter()
and blk_queue_exit().
- Modify sd_zbc_setup_seq_zones_bitmap() and sd_zbc_setup() such that
these functions do not modify struct scsi_disk before all zone
information has been obtained.

Note: since commit 055f6e18e08f ("block: Make q_usage_counter also track
legacy requests"; kernel v4.15) the request queue freezing mechanism also
affects legacy request queues.

scsi: sd_zbc: Let the SCSI core handle ILLEGAL REQUEST / ASC 0x21

scsi_io_completion() translates the sense key ILLEGAL REQUEST / ASC 0x21 into
ACTION_FAIL. That means that setting cmd->allowed to zero in sd_zbc_complete()
for this sense code / ASC combination is not necessary. Hence remove the code
that resets cmd->allowed from sd_zbc_complete().

Initialize the seq_zones_bitmap, seq_zones_wlock and nr_zones fields of

sd_zbc_alloc_zone_bitmap(). Using this helper, reallocate the bitmaps
whenever the disk capacity (number of zones) changes.

scsi: sd_zbc: Write unlock zone from sd_uninit_cmnd()

Releasing a zone write lock only when the write commnand that acquired
the lock completes can cause deadlocks due to potential command
reordering if the lock owning request is requeued and not executed. This
problem exists only with the scsi-mq path as, unlike the legacy path,
requests are moved out of the dispatch queue before being prepared and
so before locking a zone for a write command.

Since sd_uninit_cmnd() is now always called when a request is requeued,
call sd_zbc_write_unlock_zone() from that function for write requests
that acquired a zone lock instead of from sd_done(). Acquisition of a zone
lock by a write command is indicated using the new command
flag SCMD_ZONE_WRITE_LOCK.

scsi: sd_zbc: Do not write lock zones for reset

Resetting a zone write pointer is equivalent to discarding sectors:
after a reset, the zone sectors will contain zeros (or the format
pattern). So there is no need for mutual exclusion between a zone reset
and write. Similarly to discard, make it the responsability of the user
to properly synchronize between reset and write (as is done now for
discard and write).

Rename sd_zbc_setup_write_cmnd() to sd_zbc_write_lock_zone() to be clear
about what the function actually does. To be consistent, also rename
sd_zbc_cancel_write_cmnd() to sd_zbc_write_unlock_zone().

No functional change is introduced by this patch.

sd_zbc: Force use of READ16/WRITE16

Normally, sd_read_capacity sets sdp->use_16_for_rw to 1 based on the
disk capacity so that READ16/WRITE16 are used for large drives.
However, for a zoned disk with RC_BASIS set to 0, the capacity reported
through READ_CAPACITY may be very small, leading to use_16_for_rw not being
set and READ10/WRITE10 commands being used, even after the actual zoned disk
capacity is corrected in sd_zbc_read_zones. This causes LBA offset overflow for
accesses beyond 2TB.

As the ZBC standard makes it mandatory for ZBC drives to support
the READ16/WRITE16 commands anyway, make sure that use_16_for_rw is set.

block: split out request-only flags into a new namespace

A lot of the REQ_* flags are only used on struct requests, and only of
use to the block layer and a few drivers that dig into struct request
internals.

This patch adds a new req_flags_t rq_flags field to struct request for
them, and thus dramatically shrinks the number of common requests. It
also removes the unfortunate situation where we have to fit the fields
from the same enum into 32 bits for struct bio and 64 bits for
struct request.

sd: fix uninitialized variable access in error handling

If sd_zbc_report_zones fails, the check for 'zone_blocks == 0'
later in the function accesses uninitialized data:

This sets it to zero, which has the desired effect of leaving

sd: Implement support for ZBC devices

Implement ZBC support functions to setup zoned disks, both
host-managed and host-aware models. Only zoned disks that satisfy
the following conditions are supported:
1) All zones are the same size, with the exception of an eventual
last smaller runt zone.
2) For host-managed disks, reads are unrestricted (reads are not
failed due to zone or write pointer alignement constraints).
Zoned disks that do not satisfy these 2 conditions are setup with
a capacity of 0 to prevent their use.

The function sd_zbc_read_zones, called from sd_revalidate_disk,
checks that the device satisfies the above two constraints. This
function may also change the disk capacity previously set by
sd_read_capacity for devices reporting only the capacity of
conventional zones at the beginning of the LBA range (i.e. devices
reporting rc_basis set to 0).

The capacity message output was moved out of sd_read_capacity into
a new function sd_print_capacity to include this eventual capacity
change by sd_zbc_read_zones. This new function also includes a call
to sd_zbc_print_zones to display the number of zones and zone size
of the device.
