scsi: jazz_esp: Only build if SCSI core is builtin

JAZZ_ESP is a bool kconfig symbol that selects SCSI_SPI_ATTRS. When
CONFIG_SCSI=m, this results in SCSI_SPI_ATTRS=m while JAZZ_ESP=y, which
causes many undefined symbol linker errors.

Fix this by only offering to build this driver when CONFIG_SCSI=y.

scsi: ppa: Add a module parameter for the transfer mode

I have an Iomega Z100P2 zip drive, but it does not work with my StarTech
PEX1P2 AX99100 PCIe parallel port, which evidently does not support 16-bit
or 32-bit EPP. Currently the only way to tell the PPA driver to use 8-bit
EPP is to write 'mode=3' to /proc/scsi/ppa/*, but the driver doesn't
actually distinguish between the three EPP modes and still tries to use
16-bit or 32-bit EPP. And even if writing to that file did make the driver
use 8-bit EPP, it still wouldn't do me any good because by the time that
file exists, the drive has already failed to initialize.

Add a new parameter /sys/module/ppa/mode to set the transfer mode before
initializing the drive. This parameter replaces the use of
CONFIG_SCSI_IZIP_EPP16 in the PPA driver.

At the same time, default to 8-bit EPP. 16-bit and 32-bit EPP are not
necessary for the drive to function, nor are they part of the IEEE 1284
standard, so the driver should not assume that they are available.

scsi: core: Make SCSI_MOD depend on BLOCK for cleaner .config files

SCSI_MOD is a helper config symbol for configuring RAID_ATTRS properly,
i.e., RAID_ATTRS needs to be m when SCSI=m.

This helper config symbol SCSI_MOD still shows up even in kernel
configurations that do not select the block subsystem and where SCSI is not
even a configuration option mentioned and selectable.

Make this SCSI_MOD depend on BLOCK, so that it only shows up when it is
slightly relevant in the kernel configuration.

scsi: dpt_i2o: Remove obsolete driver

The dpt_i2o driver was fixed to stop using virt_to_bus() in 2008, but it
still has a stale reference in an error handling code path that could never
work. I submitted a patch to fix this reference earlier, but Hannes
Reinecke suggested that removing the driver may be just as good here.

The i2o driver layer was removed in 2015 with commit 4a72a7af462d
("staging: remove i2o subsystem"), but the even older dpt_i2o scsi driver
stayed around.

The last non-cleanup patches I could find were from Miquel van Smoorenburg
and Mark Salyzyn back in 2008, they might know if there is any chance of
the hardware still being used anywhere.

scsi: BusLogic: Remove bus_to_virt()

The BusLogic driver is the last remaining driver that relies on the
deprecated bus_to_virt() function, which in turn only works on a few
architectures, and is incompatible with both swiotlb and iommu support.

Before commit 391e2f25601e ("[SCSI] BusLogic: Port driver to 64-bit."), the
driver had a dependency on x86-32, presumably because of this
problem. However, the change introduced another bug that made it still
impossible to use the driver on any 64-bit machine.

This was in turn fixed in commit 56f396146af2 ("scsi: BusLogic: Fix 64-bit
system enumeration error for Buslogic"), 8 years later, which shows that
there are not a lot of users.

Maciej is still using the driver on 32-bit hardware, and Khalid mentioned
that the driver works with the device emulation used in VirtualBox and
VMware. Both of those only emulate it for Windows 2000 and older operating
systems that did not ship with the better LSI logic driver.

Do a minimum fix that searches through the list of descriptors to find one
that matches the bus address. This is clearly as inefficient as was
indicated in the code comment about the lack of a bus_to_virt()
replacement. A better fix would likely involve changing out the entire
descriptor allocation for a simpler one, but that would be much more
invasive.

Split the drivers/scsi/ufs directory into 'core' and 'host' directories
under the drivers/ufs/ directory. Move shared header files into the
include/ufs/ directory. This separation makes it clear which header files
UFS drivers are allowed to include (include/ufs/*.h) and which header files
UFS drivers are not allowed to include (drivers/ufs/core/*.h).

Update the MAINTAINERS file. Add myself as a UFS reviewer.

scsi: blkcg: Fix application ID config options

Commit d2bcbeab4200 ("scsi: blkcg: Add app identifier support for
blkcg") introduced an FC_APPID config option under SCSI. However, the
added config option is not used anywhere. Simply remove it.

The block layer BLK_CGROUP_FC_APPID config option is what actually
controls whether the application ID code should be built or not. Make
this option dependent on NVMe over FC since that is currently the only
transport which supports the capability.

Buslogic: remove ISA support

scsi: Drop gdth driver

The gdth driver refers to a SCSI parallel, PCI-only HBA RAID adapter which
was manufactured by the now-defunct ICP Vortex company, later acquired by
Adaptec and superseded by the aacraid series of controllers. The driver
itself would require a major overhaul before any modifications can be
attempted, but seeing that it's unlikely to have any users left it should
rather be removed completely.

scsi: docs: Remove invalid link and update text for zfcp kernel config

IBM decided to retire a lot of the content that was previously hosted on
"developerworks", and so some of the links we've used for documentation are
now dead or redirect to some general landing page with no correlation to
what the links were meant to provide.

Change the provided link in the Kconfig file for zfcp to rather refer to
our device drivers book that we regularly update and publish for free, and
whose name hasn't been changed since it was first published.

Our hardware is also not called "IBM eServer zSeries" anymore - in fact, it
hasn't been called like that since 2006. Use a broader term that covers
different server names over time.

Lastly, add a short paragraph about how our HBAs are typically named, to
have some more tangible references.

ata: make SATA_PMP option selectable only if any SATA host driver is enabled

There is no reason to expose SATA_PMP config option when no SATA
host drivers are enabled. To fix it add SATA_HOST config option,
make all SATA host drivers select it and finally make SATA_PMP
config options depend on it.

This also serves as preparation for the future changes which
optimize libata core code size on PATA only setups.

scsi: sr: remove references to BLK_DEV_SR_VENDOR, leave it enabled

This kernel configuration is basically enabling/disabling sr driver quirks
detection. While these quirks are for fairly rare devices (very old CD
burners, and a glucometer), the additional detection of these models is a
very minimal amount of code.

The logic behind the quirks is always built into the sr driver.

This also removes the config from all the defconfig files that are enabling
this already.

block: Allow t10-pi to be modular

Currently t10-pi can only be built into the block layer which via
crc-t10dif pulls in a whole chunk of the Crypto API. In fact all
users of t10-pi work as modules and there is no reason for it to
always be built-in.

This patch adds a new hidden option for t10-pi that is selected
automatically based on BLK_DEV_INTEGRITY and whether the users
of t10-pi are built-in or not.

The osst driver is becoming obsolete, as the manufacturer went out of
business ages ago, and the maintainer has no means of testing any

docs: kbuild: convert docs to ReST and rename to *.rst

The kbuild documentation clearly shows that the documents
there are written at different times: some use markdown,
some use their own peculiar logic to split sections.

Convert everything to ReST without affecting too much
the author's style and avoiding adding uneeded markups.

The conversion is actually:
- add blank lines and identation in order to identify paragraphs;
- fix tables markups;
- add some lists markups;
- mark literal blocks;
- adjust title markups.

At its new index.rst, let's add a :orphan: while this is not linked to
the main index.rst file, in order to avoid build warnings.

scsi/atari_scsi: Don't select CONFIG_NVRAM

On powerpc, setting CONFIG_NVRAM=n builds a kernel with no NVRAM support.
Setting CONFIG_NVRAM=m enables the /dev/nvram misc device module without
enabling NVRAM support in drivers. Setting CONFIG_NVRAM=y enables the
misc device (built-in) and also enables NVRAM support in drivers.

m68k shares the valkyriefb driver with powerpc, and since that driver uses
NVRAM, it is affected by CONFIG_ATARI_SCSI, because of the use of
"select NVRAM". We can avoid the "select" here, but drivers still have
to interpret the CONFIG_NVRAM symbol consistently regardless of platform.

In this patch and the subsequent fbdev driver patch, the convention is
adopted across all relevant platforms whereby NVRAM functionality gets
enabled in a given device driver when the nvram misc device is built-in
or when both drivers are modules.

on load because it passes a NULL pointer to the PCI DMA routines.

scsi: myrs: only build on little-endian platforms

Reading throught the new driver, I noticed that this cannot work on
big-endian CPUs, and the old DAC960 had exactly the same behavior.

To document this for the future, add a Kconfig dependency that prevents it
from being included in big-endian kernels. Since the hardware is really
old and we never had a working driver on it for big-endian platforms,
it's unlikely to make a difference to users.

scsi: esp_scsi: De-duplicate PIO routines

As a temporary measure, the code to implement PIO transfers was
duplicated in zorro_esp and mac_esp. Now that it has stabilized move the
common code into the core driver but don't build it unless needed.

This replaces the inline assembler with more portable writesb() calls.
Optimizing the m68k writesb() implementation is a separate patch.

scsi: core: switch to scsi-mq by default

It has been more than one year since we tried to change the default from
legacy to multi queue in SCSI with commit c279bd9e406 ("scsi: default to
scsi-mq"). But due to issues with suspend/resume and performance problems
it had been reverted again with commit cbe7dfa26eee ("Revert "scsi: default
to scsi-mq"").

In the meantime there have been a substantial amount of performance
improvements and suspend/resume got fixed as well, thus we can re-enable
scsi-mq without a significant performance penalty.

scsi: zorro_esp: New driver for Amiga Zorro NCR53C9x boards

New combined SCSI driver for all ESP based Zorro SCSI boards for m68k Amiga.

Code largely based on board specific parts of the old drivers (blz1230.c,
blz2060.c, cyberstorm.c, cyberstormII.c, fastlane.c which were removed after
the 2.6 kernel series for lack of maintenance) with contributions by Tuomas
Vainikka (TCQ bug tests and workaround) and Finn Thain (TCQ bugfix by use of
PIO in extended message in transfer).

New Kconfig option and Makefile entries for new Amiga Zorro ESP SCSI driver
included in this patch.

Use DMA transfers wherever possible, with board-specific DMA set-up functions
copied from the old driver code. Three byte reselection messages do appear to
cause DMA timeouts. So wire up a PIO transfer routine for these
instead. esp_reselect_with_tag explicitly sets
esp->cmd_block_dma as target address for the message bytes but PIO
requires a virtual address. Substiute kernel virtual address
esp->cmd_block in PIO transfer call if DMA address is esp->cmd_block_dma
and phase is message in.

PIO code taken from mac_esp.c where the reselection timeout issue was debugged
and fixed first, with minor macro and function rename.

After the cdrom cleanup, I get randconfig warnings for some configurations:

block: Rework drivers/cdrom/Makefile

Instead of referring from inside drivers/cdrom/Makefile to all the
drivers that use this driver, let these drivers select the cdrom
driver. This change makes the cdrom build code follow the approach
that is used for most other drivers, namely refer from the higher
layers to the lower layer instead of from the lower layer to the
higher layers.

Revert "scsi: default to scsi-mq"

Defaulting to scsi-mq in 4.13-rc has shown various regressions
on setups that we didn't previously consider. Fixes for them are
in progress, but too invasive to make it in this cycle. So for
now revert the commit that defaults to blk-mq for SCSI. For 4.14
we'll plan to try again with these fixes.

scsi: lpfc: Finalize Kconfig options for nvme

Reviewing the result of what was just added for Kconfig, we made a poor
choice. It worked well for full kernel builds, but not so much for how
it would be deployed on a distro.

Here's the final result:
- lpfc will compile in NVME initiator and/or NVME target support based
on whether the kernel has the corresponding subsystem support.
Kconfig is not used to drive this specifically for lpfc.
- There is a module parameter, lpfc_enable_fc4_type, that indicates
whether the ports will do FCP-only or FCP & NVME (NVME-only not yet

We only need this code to support scsi, ide, cciss and virtio. And at
least for virtio it's a deprecated feature to start with.

This should shrink the kernel size for embedded device that only use,

g_ncr5380: Remove CONFIG_SCSI_GENERIC_NCR53C400

This change brings a number of improvements: fewer macros, better test
coverage, simpler code and sane Kconfig options. The downside is a small
chance of incompatibility (which seems unavoidable).

CONFIG_SCSI_GENERIC_NCR53C400 exists to enable or inhibit pseudo DMA
transfers when the driver is used with 53C400-compatible cards. Thanks to
Ondrej Zary's patches, PDMA now works which means it can be enabled
unconditionally.

Due to bad design, CONFIG_SCSI_GENERIC_NCR53C400 ties together unrelated
functionality as it sets both PSEUDO_DMA and BIOSPARAM macros. This patch
effectively enables PSEUDO_DMA and disables BIOSPARAM.

The defconfigs and the Kconfig default leave CONFIG_SCSI_GENERIC_NCR53C400
undefined. Red Hat 9 and CentOS 2.1 were the same. This leaves both
PSEUDO_DMA and BIOSPARAM disabled. The effect of this patch should be
better performance from enabling PSEUDO_DMA.

On the other hand, Debian 4 and SLES 10 had CONFIG_SCSI_GENERIC_NCR53C400
enabled, so both PSEUDO_DMA and BIOSPARAM were enabled. This patch might
affect configurations like this by disabling BIOSPARAM. My best guess is
that this could be a problem only in the vanishingly rare case that
1) the CHS values stored in the boot device partition table are wrong and
2) a 5380 card is in use (because PDMA on 53C400 used to be broken).

scsi: reduce CONFIG_SCSI_CONSTANTS=y impact by 8k

On 64 bit, struct error_info has 6 bytes of padding, which amounts to
over 4k of wasted space in the additional[] array. We could easily get
rid of that by instead using separate arrays for the codes and the
pointers. However, we can do even better than that and save an
additional 6 bytes per entry: In the table, just store the sizeof()
the corresponding string literal. The cumulative sum of these is then
the appropriate offset into additional_text, which is built from the
concatenation (with '\0's inbetween) of the strings.

atari_NCR5380: Remove RESET_BOOT, CONFIG_ATARI_SCSI_TOSHIBA_DELAY and CONFIG_ATARI_SCSI_RESET_BOOT

The atari_NCR5380.c core driver now takes care of bus reset upon driver
initialization if required (same as NCR5380.c). Move the Toshiba CD-ROM
support into the core driver, enabled with a host flag, so that all
NCR5380 drivers can make use of it.

Drop the RESET_BOOT macros and the ATARI_SCSI_RESET_BOOT and
ATARI_SCSI_TOSHIBA_DELAY Kconfig symbols, which are now redundant.

Remove the atari_scsi_reset_boot(), mac_scsi_reset_boot() and
sun3_scsi_reset_boot() routines. None of this duplicated code is needed
now that all drivers can use NCR5380_maybe_reset_bus().

This brings atari_scsi, mac_scsi and sun3_scsi into line with all of the
other NCR5380 drivers.

The bus reset may raise an interrupt. That would be new behaviour for
atari_scsi only when CONFIG_ATARI_SCSI_RESET_BOOT=n. The ST DMA interrupt
is not assigned to atari_scsi at this stage, so
CONFIG_ATARI_SCSI_RESET_BOOT=y may well be problematic already.
Regardless, do_reset() now raises and clears the interrupt within
local_irq_save/restore which should avoid problems.

ses: fix discovery of SATA devices in SAS enclosures

The current discovery routines use the VPD 0x83 inquiry page to find
the device SAS address and match it to the end point in the enclosure.
This doesn't work for SATA devices because expanders (or hosts) simply
make up an endpoint address for STP and thus the address returned by
the VPD page never matches. Instead of doing this, for SAS attached
devices, match by the direct endpoint address instead.

The advansys drvier uses the request_dma function that is used on ISA
machines for the internal DMA controller, which causes build errors
on platforms that have ISA slots but do not provide the ISA DMA API:

mpt3sas: Single driver module which supports both SAS 2.0 & SAS 3.0 HBAs

Modified the mpt3sas driver to have a single driver module which
supports both SAS 2.0 & SAS 3.0 HBA devices.

* Added SAS 2.0 HBA device IDs to the mpt3sas_pci_table pci table.

* Created two separate SCSI host templates for SAS2 and SAS3 HBAs so
that, during the driver load time driver can use corresponding host
template(based the pci device ID) while registering a scsi host
adapter instance for that pci device.

* Registered two IOCTL devices, mpt2ctl is for SAS2 HBAs & mpt3ctl for
SAS3 HBAs. Also updated the code to make sure that mpt2ctl device
processes only those ioctl cmds issued for the SAS2 HBAs and mpt3ctl
device processes only those ioctl cmds issued for the SAS3 HBAs.

* Added separate indexing for SAS2 and SAS3 HBAs.

* Replaced compile time check 'MPT2SAS_SCSI' to run time check
'hba_mpi_version_belonged' whereever needed.

* Aliased this merged driver to mpt2sas using MODULE_ALIAS.

* Moved global varaible 'driver_name' to per adapter instance variable.

* Created two raid function template and used corresponding raid
function templates based on the run time check
'hba_mpi_version_belonged'.

* Moved mpt2sas_warpdrive.c file from mpt2sas to mpt3sas folder and
renamed it as mpt3sas_warpdrive.c.

* Also renamed the functions in mpt3sas_warpdrive.c file to follow
current driver function name convention.

* Updated the Makefile to build mpt3sas_warpdrive.o file for these
WarpDrive-specific functions.

* Also in function mpt3sas_setup_direct_io(), used sector_div() API
instead of division operator (which gives compilation errors on 32 bit
machines).

* Removed mpt2sas files, mpt2sas directory & mpt3sas_module.c file.

* Added module parameter 'hbas_to_enumerate' which permits using this
merged driver as a legacy mpt2sas driver or as a legacy mpt3sas
driver.

Here are the available options for this module parameter:

0 - Merged driver which enumerates both SAS 2.0 & SAS 3.0 HBAs
1 - Acts as legacy mpt2sas driver, which enumerates only SAS 2.0 HBAs
2 - Acts as legacy mpt3sas driver, which enumerates only SAS 3.0 HBAs

* Removed mpt2sas entries from SCSI's Kconfig and Makefile files.

xen-scsifront: Add Xen PV SCSI frontend driver

Introduces the Xen pvSCSI frontend. With pvSCSI it is possible for a
Xen domU to issue SCSI commands to a SCSI LUN assigned to that
domU. The SCSI commands are passed to the pvSCSI backend in a driver
domain (usually Dom0) which is owner of the physical device. This
allows e.g. to use SCSI tape drives in a Xen domU.

The code is taken from the pvSCSI implementation in Xen done by
Fujitsu based on Linux kernel 2.6.18.

Changes from the original version are:
- port to upstream kernel
- put all code in just one source file
- move module to appropriate location in kernel tree
- adapt to Linux style guide
- some minor code simplifications
- replace constants with defines
- remove not used defines
- add support for larger SG lists by putting them in a granted page

scsi: Use 'depends' with LIBFC instead of 'select'.

LIBFC depends upon SCSI_FC_ATTRS and select's CRC32C.

The only alternative would be to 'select' CRC32C and all of
SCSI_FC_ATTRS direct and indirect dependencies in the Kconfig section
for every LIBFCOE user which makes little sense.

Subsequently, use 'depends' instead of 'select' for LIBFCOE too.

In order to maintain sanity and prevent kconfig warnings, change
all of these from using 'select' to using 'depends on' so that

virtio-scsi: Enable DIF/DIX modes in SCSI host LLD

This patch updates virtscsi_probe() to setup necessary Scsi_Host
level protection resources. (currently hardcoded to 1)

It changes virtscsi_add_cmd() to attach outgoing / incoming
protection SGLs preceeding the data payload, and is using the
new virtio_scsi_cmd_req_pi->pi_bytes[out,in] field to signal
to signal to vhost/scsi bytes to expect for protection data.

scsi: async sd resume

async_schedule() sd resume work to allow disks and other devices to
resume in parallel.

This moves the entirety of scsi_device resume to an async context to
ensure that scsi_device_resume() remains ordered with respect to the
completion of the start/stop command. For the duration of the resume,
new command submissions (that do not originate from the scsi-core) will
be deferred (BLKPREP_DEFER).

It adds a new ASYNC_DOMAIN_EXCLUSIVE(scsi_sd_pm_domain) as a container
of these operations. Like scsi_sd_probe_domain it is flushed at
sd_remove() time to ensure async ops do not continue past the
end-of-life of the sdev. The implementation explicitly refrains from
reusing scsi_sd_probe_domain directly for this purpose as it is flushed
at the end of dpm_resume(), potentially defeating some of the benefit.
Given sdevs are quiesced it is permissible for these resume operations
to bleed past the async_synchronize_full() calls made by the driver
core.

We defer the resolution of which pm callback to call until
scsi_dev_type_{suspend|resume} time and guarantee that the callback
parameter is never NULL. With this in place the type of resume
operation is encoded in the async function identifier.

There is a concern that async resume could trigger PSU overload. In the
enterprise, storage enclosures enforce staggered spin-up regardless of
what the kernel does making async scanning safe by default. Outside of
that context a user can disable asynchronous scanning via a kernel
command line or CONFIG_SCSI_SCAN_ASYNC. Honor that setting when
deciding whether to do resume asynchronously.

[SCSI] aci7xxx_old: delete decade+ obsolete driver

After getting warnings in an allyesconfig build[1] from this
driver, I decided to remind myself just how old it was, and
whether it warranted fixing. In the Kconfig help text, I found:

"This driver will eventually be phased out entirely"

Going back to the history archive, I see the line was added[2]
in Feb 2002, when we moved from v2.4.2.1 ---> v2.4.2.2

So, with over a decade of notification, and multiple major releases
since then, I think we can justify removing this. Currently we have
people wasting time building it during routine testing, and then
wasting more time re-researching the known reported warnings, only to
find that nobody really is willing to integrate the fixes[3] for it.

A quick search didn't seem to indicate any active user base for it.
If someone happens to have a quirky _old_ card that the eleven year
old "new" driver doesn't work with, then it is entirely reasonable
that they stick with a kernel version that predates this removal.

[SCSI] lpfc: Don't force CONFIG_GENERIC_CSUM on

We want ppc64 to be able to select between optimised assembly
checksum routines in big endian and the generic lib/checksum.c
routines in little endian.

The lpfc driver is forcing CONFIG_GENERIC_CSUM on which means
we are unable to make the decision to enable it in the arch
Kconfig. If the option exists it is always forced on.

This got introduced in 3.10 via commit 6a7252fdb0c3 ([SCSI] lpfc:
fix up Kconfig dependencies). I spoke to Randy about it and
the original issue was with CRC_T10DIF not being defined.

As such, remove the select of CONFIG_GENERIC_CSUM.

The support for CONFIG_MCA is being removed, since the 20
year old hardware simply isn't capable of meeting today's
software demands on CPU and memory resources.

This patch adds support for Universal Flash Storage(UFS)
host controllers. The UFS host controller driver
includes host controller initialization method.

The Initialization process involves following steps:

powerpc: remove the legacy iSeries part of ibmvscsi

[SCSI] virtio-scsi: SCSI driver for QEMU based virtual machines

The virtio-scsi HBA is the basis of an alternative storage stack
for QEMU-based virtual machines (including KVM). Compared to
virtio-blk it is more scalable, because it supports many LUNs
on a single PCI slot), more powerful (it more easily supports
passthrough of host devices to the guest) and more easily
extensible (new SCSI features implemented by QEMU should not
require updating the driver in the guest).

Staging: hv: storvsc: Move the storage driver out of the staging area

The storage driver (storvsc_drv.c) handles all block storage devices
assigned to Linux guests hosted on Hyper-V. This driver has been in the
staging tree for a while and this patch moves it out of the staging area.

James was willing to apply this patch during the 3.3-rc phase and a decision
was taken to defer this to 3.4 since Greg had queued up a bunch of storvsc
patches for 3.4. Now that Greg has applied all of the pending storvsc patches,
I am sending this patch to move this driver out of staging. Based on James'
recommendation, this patch gets rid of the unneeded files in the staging/hv
directory.

[SCSI] mvumi: Add Marvell UMI driver

The Marvell Universal Message Interface (UMI) defines a messaging
interface between host and Marvell products (Plato, for example). It
considers situations of limited system resource and optimized system
performance.
UMI driver translates host request to message and sends message
to FW via UMI, FW receives message and processes it, then sends response
to UMI driver.
FW generates an interrupt when it needs to send information or
response to UMI driver

[SCSI] bnx2fc: Broadcom FCoE offload driver

This driver is for Broadcom Netxtreme II 57712 chip. The following
patch contains the driver sources for bnx2fc driver. libfc/libfcoe
changes to enable bnx2fc have already gone through the fcoe
tree. bnx2fc is a SCSI low level driver that interfaces with SCSI
midlayer, libfc, libfcoe, cnic modules. bnx2fc driver uses services
of libfc for slow path operations such as FIP and fabric
discovery. The fast path IO perations are performed after offloading
the session information to the underlying FCoE firmware.

[SCSI] zfcp: Introduce experimental support for DIF/DIX

Introduce support for DIF/DIX in zfcp: Report the capabilities for the
Scsi_host, map the protection data when issuing I/O requests and
handle the new error codes. Also add the fsf data_direction field to
the hba trace, it is useful information for debugging in that area.
This is an EXPERIMENTAL feature for now.

[SCSI] raid_attrs: fix dependency problems

RAID attributes uses scsi_is_sdev_device() to gate some SCSI specific
checking code. This causes two problems. Firstly if SCSI == n just
defining scsi_is_sdev_device() to return false might not be enough to
prevent gcc from emitting the code (and thus referring to undefined
symbols), so this needs surrounding with an ifdef. Secondly, using
scsi_is_sdev_device() when SCSI is either y or m gives a subtle
problem in the m case: raid_attrs must also be m to use the symbol.
Do the usual Kconfig jiggery-pokery to fix this.

[SCSI] fnic: Add FIP support to the fnic driver

Use libfcoe as a common FIP implementation with fcoe.
FIP or non-FIP mode is fully automatic if the firmware
supports and enables it.

Even if FIP is not supported, this uses libfcoe for the non-FIP
handling of FLOGI and its response.

Use the new lport_set_port_id() notification to capture
successful FLOGI responses and port_id resets.

While transitioning between Ethernet and FC mode, all rx and
tx FC frames are queued. In Ethernet mode, all frames are
passed to the exchange manager to capture FLOGI responses.

Change to set data_src_addr to the ctl_src_addr whenever it
would have previously been zero because we're not logged in.
This seems safer so we'll never send a frame with a 0 source MAC.
This also eliminates a special case for sending FLOGI frames.

[SCSI] Update wording of CONFIG_SCSI_MULTI_LUN help

I had to set CONFIG_SCSI_MULTI_LUN to y in order to get my SE W595
working when plugging it as a mass storage. Looking at SCSI option to
get a phone behaving correctly was convoluted to say the least. There
are quite a few other reports about USB card readers needing this option
as well. This patch improves the help text to make the use of the option
more obvious.

Just sets up build environment for libfcoe module towards a
libfcoe library for libfc LLDs using FCoE as libfc transport.

Common library code to libfcoe is added in next patch.

Also, updated MODULE_LICENSE from "GPL" string to "GPL v2" for

[SCSI] Improve SCSI_LOGGING Kconfig entry

The Kconfig entry for SCSI_LOGGING refers the reader to
drivers/scsi/scsi.c, but I didn't find any useful information
there. There is certainly logging code in that file, but the
logging types and logging levels are described in
drivers/scsi/scsi_logging.h.

Also, the procfs file referred to in the section is incorrect.
It should be /proc/sys/dev/scsi/logging_level and not
/proc/scsi/scsi.

As planed, this removes ide-scsi.

The 2.6 kernel supports direct writing to ide CD drives, which
eliminates the need for ide-scsi. ide-scsi has been unmaintained and
marked as deprecated.

Encapsulation protocol for running Fibre Channel over Ethernet interfaces.
Creates virtual Fibre Channel host adapters using libfc.

This layer is the LLD to the scsi-ml. It allocates the Scsi_Host, utilizes
libfc for Fibre Channel protocol processing and interacts with netdev to
send/receive Ethernet packets.

[SCSI] libfc: A modular Fibre Channel library

libFC is composed of 4 blocks supported by an exchange manager
and a framing library. The upper 4 layers are fc_lport, fc_disc,
fc_rport and fc_fcp. A LLD that uses libfc could choose to
either use libfc's block, or using the transport template
defined in libfc.h, override one or more blocks with its own
implementation.

The EM (Exchange Manager) manages exhcanges/sequences for all
commands- ELS, CT and FCP.

The framing library frames ELS and CT commands.

The fc_lport block manages the library's representation of the
host's FC enabled ports.

The fc_disc block manages discovery of targets as well as
handling changes that occur in the FC fabric (via. RSCN events).

The fc_rport block manages the library's representation of other
entities in the FC fabric. Currently the library uses this block
for targets, its peer when in point-to-point mode and the
directory server, but can be extended for other entities if
needed.

The fc_fcp block interacts with the scsi-ml and handles all
I/O.

[SCSI] sd: Support for SCSI disk (SBC) Data Integrity Field

Support for controllers and disks that implement DIF protection
information:

- During command preparation the RDPROTECT/WRPROTECT must be set
correctly if the target has DIF enabled.

- READ(6) and WRITE(6) are not supported when DIF is on.

- The controller must be told how to handle the I/O via the
protection operation field in scsi_cmnd.

- Refactor the I/O completion code that extracts failed LBA from the
returned sense data and handle DIF failures correctly.

- sd_dif.c implements the functions required to prepare and complete
requests with protection information attached.

[SCSI] scsi_dh: add infrastructure for SCSI Device Handlers

Some of the storage devices (that can be accessed through multiple paths),
do need some special handling for
1. Activating the passive path of the storage access.
2. Decode and handle the special sense codes returned by the devices.
3. Handle the I/Os being sent to the passive path, especially
during the device probe time.
when accessed through multiple paths.

As of today this special device handling is done at the dm-multipath
layer using dm-handlers. That works well for (1); for (2) to be handled
at dm layer, scsi sense information need to be exported from SCSI to dm-layer,
which is not very attractive; (3) cannot be done at all at the dm layer.

Device handler has been moved to SCSI mainly to handle (2) and (3) properly.

This is the code to actually support 64 bit platforms. 64 bit
DMA is enabled on both x86_32 PAE and 64 bit platforms.

This code is based in part on the unofficial adaptec 64-bit

[SCSI] BusLogic: make FlashPoint support x86-32 only

We've verified that there are 64 bit and endianness problems in the
flashpoint driver. Reverse the logic of CONFIG_OMIT_FLASHPOINT (make
it CONFIG_SCSI_FLASHPOINT) and make it depend on X86_32 so it can't
appear for any other architectures. Long term, if someone chooses,
they could make FlashPoint 64 bit compliant (it looks like its a
question of fixing up the sizes in some of the packed descriptors)

[SCSI] Fix dependency problems in SCSI drivers

We have several drivers that don't list SCSI as a dependency in
Kconfig. That leads to them potentially being selected as Y even if
SCSI is M (which will produce a build failure). Fix this by making
the if SCSI_LOWLEVEL that goes around all the drivers a tristate
forcing them all automatically to inherit the value of SCSI.

[SCSI] ses: add new Enclosure ULD

This adds support to SCSI for enclosure services devices. It also makes
use of the enclosure services added in an earlier patch to display the
enclosure topology in sysfs.

At the moment, the enclosures are SAS specific, but if anyone actually
has a non-SAS enclosure that follows the SES-2 standard, we can add that
as well.

The astute will notice that I'm using SCSI VPD Inquiries to identify the

some really nasty hacking about on the SAT because the only think that
knows the SAS addresses for SATA devices is libsas, not libata where the
SAT resides.

[SCSI] advansys: Changes to work on parisc

Change PortAddr to be an unsigned int instead of an unsigned short (IO
Port address are 24 bit on parisc). Fix a couple of printk argument
warnings. Remove the Kconfig marking as 'BROKEN'.

I haven't removed the #warning yet because virt_to_bus/bus_to_virt are
only eliminated for narrow boards. Wide boards need more work.

With

dma-mapping-prevent-dma-dependent-code-from-linking-on.patch

scsi fails to build on !HAS_DMA architectures:

drivers/built-in.o(.text+0x20af6): In function `scsi_dma_map':
: undefined reference to `dma_map_sg'
drivers/built-in.o(.text+0x20b5c): In function `scsi_dma_unmap':
: undefined reference to `dma_unmap_sg'

I split those functions out into a new file. Builds on s390 and i386.

Move scsi_dma_{map,unmap} into scsi_lib_dma.c which is only build if
HAS_DMA is set.

[SCSI] ibmmca: convert to new probing API and fix oopses

This is basically a straight conversion. I have one of these things, so
I know it works ... my problem is that it has a wierd SCA like
connector, so I can't connect anything to it (no cables).

However, previously it panic'd in the interrupt, now it completes a bus
scan.

m68k: Atari SCSI revival

SCSI should be working on a TT (but someone should really try!) but causes
trouble on a Falcon (as in: it ate a filesystem of mine) at least when
used concurrently with IDE. I have the notion it's because locking of the
ST-DMA interrupt by IDE is broken in 2.6 (the IDE driver always complains
about trying to release an already-released ST-DMA). Needs more work, but
that's on the IDE or m68k interrupt side rather than SCSI.

2) Will properly negotiate for synchronous transfers even on
devices that reject the wide negotiation message, such as
CDROMs

replaced by a top-level switch statement state machine.
4) Uses generic scsi infrastructure as much as possible to
avoid code duplication.

[SCSI] make scsi_wait_scan always modular

Currently scsi_wait_scan is only built modular if SCSI is modular.
However, it's perfectly possible for a built in SCSI still to have
modular drivers and thus need scsi_wait_scan as a module. Therefore,
scsi_wait_scan should always be built as a module (unless the kernel
doesn't support modules).

Randy brought it to my attention that in proper english "can not" should always
be written "cannot". I donot see any reason to argue, even if I mightnot
understand why this rule exists. This patch fixes "can not" in several

[PATCH] BLOCK: Make it possible to disable the block layer [try #6]

Make it possible to disable the block layer. Not all embedded devices require
it, some can make do with just JFFS2, NFS, ramfs, etc - none of which require
the block layer to be present.

This patch does the following:

(*) Introduces CONFIG_BLOCK to disable the block layer, buffering and blockdev
support.

(*) Adds dependencies on CONFIG_BLOCK to any configuration item that controls
an item that uses the block layer. This includes:

(*) Block I/O tracing.

(*) Disk partition code.

(*) All filesystems that are block based, eg: Ext3, ReiserFS, ISOFS.

(*) The SCSI layer. As far as I can tell, even SCSI chardevs use the
block layer to do scheduling. Some drivers that use SCSI facilities -
such as USB storage - end up disabled indirectly from this.

(*) Various block-based device drivers, such as IDE and the old CDROM
drivers.

(*) MTD blockdev handling and FTL.

(*) JFFS - which uses set_bdev_super(), something it could avoid doing by
taking a leaf out of JFFS2's book.

(*) Makes most of the contents of linux/blkdev.h, linux/buffer_head.h and
linux/elevator.h contingent on CONFIG_BLOCK being set. sector_div() is,
however, still used in places, and so is still available.

(*) Also made contingent are the contents of linux/mpage.h, linux/genhd.h and
parts of linux/fs.h.

(*) Makes a number of files in fs/ contingent on CONFIG_BLOCK.

(*) Makes mm/bounce.c (bounce buffering) contingent on CONFIG_BLOCK.

(*) set_page_dirty() doesn't call __set_page_dirty_buffers() if CONFIG_BLOCK
is not enabled.

(*) fs/no-block.c is created to hold out-of-line stubs and things that are
required when CONFIG_BLOCK is not set:

(*) Default blockdev file operations (to give error ENODEV on opening).

(*) Makes some /proc changes:

(*) /proc/devices does not list any blockdevs.

(*) /proc/diskstats and /proc/partitions are contingent on CONFIG_BLOCK.

(*) Makes some compat ioctl handling contingent on CONFIG_BLOCK.

(*) If CONFIG_BLOCK is not defined, makes sys_quotactl() return -ENODEV if
given command other than Q_SYNC or if a special device is specified.

(*) In init/do_mounts.c, no reference is made to the blockdev routines if
CONFIG_BLOCK is not defined. This does not prohibit NFS roots or JFFS2.

(*) The bdflush, ioprio_set and ioprio_get syscalls can now be absent (return
error ENOSYS by way of cond_syscall if so).

(*) The seclvl_bd_claim() and seclvl_bd_release() security calls do nothing if
CONFIG_BLOCK is not set, since they can't then happen.

[SCSI] SCSI and FC Transport: add netlink support for posting of transport events

This patch formally adds support for the posting of FC events via netlink.
It is a followup to the original RFC at:

The patch has been updated to optimize the send path, per the discussions
in the initial posting.

Per discussions at the Storage Summit and at OLS, we are to use netlink for
async events from transports. Also per discussions, to avoid a netlink
protocol per transport, I've create a single NETLINK_SCSITRANSPORT protocol,
which can then be used by all transports.

This patch:
- Creates new files scsi_netlink.c and scsi_netlink.h, which contains the
single and shared definitions for the SCSI Transport. It is tied into the
base SCSI subsystem intialization.
Contains a single interface routine, scsi_send_transport_event(), for a
transport to send an event (via multicast to a protocol specific group).
- Creates a new scsi_netlink_fc.h file, which contains the FC netlink event
messages
- Adds 3 new routines to the fc transport:
fc_get_event_number() - to get a FC event #
fc_host_post_event() - to send a simple FC event (32 bits of data)
fc_host_post_vendor_event() - to send a Vendor unique event, with
arbitrary amounts of data.

Note: the separation of event number allows for a LLD to send a standard
event, followed by vendor-specific data for the event.

[PATCH] s390: cleanup Kconfig

Sanitize some s390 Kconfig options. We have ARCH_S390, ARCH_S390X,
ARCH_S390_31, 64BIT, S390_SUPPORT and COMPAT. Replace these 6 options by
S390, 64BIT and COMPAT.

[SCSI] Move scsi_print_msg to SPI class

scsi_print_msg() is an SPI-specific concept. This patch moves it from
constants.c to scsi_transport_spi.c and updates the Kconfig to link in
the SPI class for the drivers which use scsi_print_msg().

[PATCH] Fix and clean up quirk_intel_ide_combined() configuration

This change makes quirk_intel_ide_combined() dependent on the precise
conditions under which it is needed:

* IDE is built in
* IDE SATA option is not set
* ata_piix or ahci drivers are enabled

This fixes an issue where some modular configurations would not cause
the quirk to be enabled.

libata: add new driver pdc_adma for PDC ADMA ATA cards

[SCSI] move iscsi to a better place in Kconfig

Now it looks like we'll have multiple users of the iscsi transport
class, the iscsi initiator shouldn't really be a dependency of it. This
patch moves iscsi to being an initiator in its own right which selects
the transport attributes.
