wifi: mwifiex: Refactor 1-element array into flexible array in struct mwifiex_ie_types_chan_list_param_set struct mwifiex_ie_types_chan_list_param_set::chan_scan_param is treated as a flexible array, so convert it into one so that it doesn't trip the array bounds sanitizer[1]. Only a few places were using sizeof() on the whole struct, so adjust those to follow the calculation pattern to avoid including the trailing single element. Examining binary output differences doesn't appear to show any literal size values changing, though it is obfuscated a bit by the compiler adjusting register usage and stack spill slots, etc. Link: https://github.com/KSPP/linux/issues/51 [1] Cc: Brian Norris <briannorris@chromium.org> Cc: Kalle Valo <kvalo@kernel.org> Cc: Dmitry Antipov <dmantipov@yandex.ru> Cc: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com> Cc: zuoqilin <zuoqilin@yulong.com> Cc: Ruan Jinjie <ruanjinjie@huawei.com> Cc: Thomas Gleixner <tglx@linutronix.de> Cc: Christophe JAILLET <christophe.jaillet@wanadoo.fr> Cc: Gustavo A. wifi: mwifiex: configure BSSID consistently when starting AP AP BSSID configuration is missing at AP start. Without this fix, FW returns STA interface MAC address after first init. When hostapd restarts, it gets MAC address from netdev before driver sets STA MAC to netdev again. Now MAC address between hostapd and net interface are different causes STA cannot connect to AP. After that MAC address of uap0 mlan0 become the same. And issue disappears after following hostapd restart (another issue is AP/STA MAC address become the same). This patch fixes the issue cleanly. mwifiex: Avoid memset() over-write of WEP key_material In preparation for FORTIFY_SOURCE performing compile-time and run-time field bounds checking for memset(), avoid intentionally writing across neighboring array fields. When preparing to call mwifiex_set_keyparamset_wep(), key_material is treated very differently from its structure layout (which has only a single struct mwifiex_ie_type_key_param_set). Instead, add a new type to the union so memset() can correctly reason about the size of the structure. Note that the union ("params", 196 bytes) containing key_material was not large enough to hold the target of this memset(): sizeof(struct mwifiex_ie_type_key_param_set) == 60, NUM_WEP_KEYS = 4, so 240 bytes, or 44 bytes past the end of "params". wireless: marvell: Replace zero-length array with flexible-array member The current codebase makes use of the zero-length array language extension to the C90 standard, but the preferred mechanism to declare variable-length types such as these ones is a flexible array member[1][2], introduced in C99: struct foo { int stuff; struct boo array[]; }; By making use of the mechanism above, we will get a compiler warning in case the flexible array does not occur last in the structure, which will help us prevent some kind of undefined behavior bugs from being inadvertently introduced[3] to the codebase from now on. Also, notice that, dynamic memory allocations won't be affected by this change: "Flexible array members have incomplete type, and so the sizeof operator may not be applied. As a quirk of the original implementation of zero-length arrays, sizeof evaluates to zero."[1] This issue was found with the help of Coccinelle. mwifiex: Don't abort on small, spec-compliant vendor IEs Per the 802.11 specification, vendor IEs are (at minimum) only required to contain an OUI. A type field is also included in ieee80211.h (struct ieee80211_vendor_ie) but doesn't appear in the specification. The remaining fields (subtype, version) are a convention used in WMM headers. Thus, we should not reject vendor-specific IEs that have only the minimum length (3 bytes) -- we should skip over them (since we only want to match longer IEs, that match either WMM or WPA formats). We can reject elements that don't have the minimum-required 3 byte OUI. While we're at it, move the non-standard subtype and version fields into the WMM structs, to avoid this confusion in the future about generic "vendor header" attributes. It is in fact the tail part of wifi/bt combo firmware. Per Brian's and Dmitry's suggestion, this patch extract the wifi part from combo firmware. After that, the mrvl/pcie8997_wlan_v4.bin image in linux-firmware repo is redundant (though I guess we keep it around to support older kernels). mwifiex: add get_antenna support for cfg80211 Since commit de3bb771f471 ("cfg80211: add more warnings for inconsistent ops") the wireless core warns if a driver implements a cfg80211 callback but doesn't implements the inverse operation. The mwifiex driver defines a .set_antenna handler but not a .get_antenna so this not only makes the core to print a warning when creating a new wiphy but also the antenna isn't reported to user-space apps such as iw. This patch queries the antenna to the firmware so is properly reported to user-space. With this patch, the wireless core does not warn anymore and: $ iw phy phy0 info | grep Antennas Available Antennas: TX 0x3 RX 0x3 Configured Antennas: TX 0x3 RX 0x3 Signed-off-by: Shengzhen Li <szli@marvell.com> Signed-off-by: Amitkumar Karwar <akarwar@marvell.com> [javier: expand the commit message] Signed-off-by: Javier Martinez Canillas <javier@osg.samsung.com> Tested-by: Enric Balletbo i Serra <enric.balletbo@collabora.com> Signed-off-by: Kalle Valo <kvalo@codeaurora.org>

mwifiex: firmware download enhancements Same chip is being used by WLAN as well as bluetooth drivers. Each driver needs to check during initialisation if firmware is already active or it needs to be freshly downloaded. If one driver has started downloading the firmware, other finds the winner flag as false. mwifiex_check_fw_status() checks firmware status and also check if WLAN is the winner for firmware downloading. Once we detect that other interface is downloading the firmware, we call this routine again with max poll count to wait until firmware is ready. This patch splits the routine to avoid checking winner status unnecessarily multiple times and ensures that correct messages are displayed to user. Firmware status poll count is also increased to 150.
