net: phy: swphy: emulate register MII_ESTATUS When the genphy driver binds to a swphy it will call genphy_read_abilites that will try to read MII_ESTATUS if BMSR_ESTATEN is set in MII_BMSR. So far this would read the default value 0xffff and 1000FD and 1000HD are reported as supported just by chance. Better add explicit support for emulating MII_ESTATUS. net: phy: improve auto-neg emulation in swphy Auto-neg emulation currently doesn't set bit BMCR_ANENABLE in BMCR, add this. Users will ignore speed and duplex settings in BMCR because we're emulating auto-neg, therefore we can remove related code. See also following discussion [0]. phy: generate swphy registers on the fly Generate software phy registers as and when requested, rather than duplicating the state in fixed_phy. This allows us to eliminate the duplicate storage of of the same data, which is only different in format. As fixed_phy_update_regs() no longer updates register state, rename it to fixed_phy_update().
