qed: avoid defines prefixed with CONFIG Defines prefixed with "CONFIG" should be limited to proper Kconfig options, that are introduced in a Kconfig file. Here, constants for bitmap indices of some configs are defined and these defines begin with the config's name, and are suffixed with BITMAP_IDX. To avoid defines prefixed with "CONFIG", name these constants BITMAP_IDX_FOR_CONFIG_XYZ instead of CONFIG_XYZ_BITMAP_IDX. No functional change. qed: prevent a fw assert during device shutdown Device firmware can assert if the device shutdown path in driver encounters an async. events from mfw (processed in qed_mcp_handle_events()) after qed_mcp_unload_req() returns. A call to qed_mcp_unload_req() currently marks the device as inactive and thus stops any new events, but there is a windows where in-flight events might still be received by the driver. To prevent this race condition, atomically set QED_MCP_BYPASS_PROC_BIT in qed_mcp_unload_req() to make sure qed_mcp_handle_events() ignores all events. Wait for any event that might already be in-process to complete by monitoring QED_MCP_IN_PROCESSING_BIT. qed: use msleep() in qed_mcp_cmd() and add qed_mcp_cmd_nosleep() for udelay. Change qed_mcp_cmd() to use msleep() (by setting QED_MB_FLAG_CAN_SLEEP flag) and add new nosleep() version of the api. These api are used to issue cmds to management fw and the change affects how driver behaves while waiting for a response/resource. All sleepable callers of the existing api now use msleep() version. For non-sleepable callers, the new nosleep() version is explicitly used. qed*: esl priv flag support through ethtool ESL(Enhanced System Lockdown) was designed to lock PCI adapter firmware images and prevent changes to critical non-volatile configuration data so that uncontrolled, malicious or unintentional modification to the adapters are avoided, ensuring it's operational state. Once this feature is enabled, the device is locked, rejecting any modification to non-volatile images. Once unlocked, the protection is off such that firmware and non-volatile configurations may be altered. Driver just reflects the capability and status of this through the ethtool private flag. ethernet: constify references to netdev->dev_addr in drivers This big patch sprinkles const on local variables and function arguments which may refer to netdev->dev_addr. Commit 406f42fa0d3c ("net-next: When a bond have a massive amount of VLANs...") introduced a rbtree for faster Ethernet address look up. To maintain netdev->dev_addr in this tree we need to make all the writes to it got through appropriate helpers. Some of the changes here are not strictly required - const is sometimes cast off but pointer is not used for writing. It seems like it's still better to add the const in case the code changes later or relevant -W flags get enabled for the build. No functional changes. qed: Remove e4_ and _e4 from FW HSI The existing qed/qede/qedr/qedi/qedf code uses chip-specific naming in structures, functions, variables and defines in FW HSI (Hardware Software Interface). The new FW version introduced a generic naming convention in HSI in-which the same code will be used across different versions for simpler maintainability. It also eases in providing support for new features. With this patch every "_e4" or "e4_" prefix or suffix is not needed anymore and it will be removed. This patch dumps additional information during ethtool -d for better debugging. qed: FW 8.42.2.0 Additional ll2 type LL2 queues were a limited resource due to FW constraints. This FW introduced a new resource which is a context based ll2 queue (memory on host). The additional ll2 queues are required for RDMA SRIOV. The code refers to the previous ll2 queues as ram-based or legacy, and the new queues as ctx-based. This change decreased the "legacy" ram-based queues therefore the first ll2 queue used for iWARP was converted to the ctx-based ll2 queue. This feature also exposed a bug in the DIRECT_REG_WR64 macro implementation which didn't have an effect in other use cases. qed: Add llh ppfid interface and 100g support for offload protocols This patch refactors the current llh implementation. It exposes a hw resource called ppfid (port-pfid) and implements an API for configuring the resource. Default configuration which was used until now limited the number of filters per PF and did not support engine affinity per protocol. The new API enables allocating more filter rules per PF and enables affinitizing protocol packets to a certain engine which enables full 100g protocol offload support. qed: Align local and global PTT to propagate through the APIs. Align the use of local PTT to propagate through the qed_mcp* API's. Global ptt should not be used. Register access should be done through layers. Register address is mapped into a PTT, PF translation table. Several interface functions require a PTT to direct read/write into register. There is a pool of PTT maintained, and several PTT are used simultaneously to access device registers in different flows. Same PTT should not be used in flows that can run concurrently. To avoid running out of PTT resources, too many PTT should not be acquired without releasing them. Every PF has a global PTT, which is used throughout the life of PF, in most important flows for register access. Generic functions acquire the PTT locally and release after the use. Driver doesn't get notified if there's a change in the virtual link e.g., link-flap on the peer PF interface. Virtual link indication from MFW reflects the per PF link status instead of the physical link. qed: Avoid sending mailbox commands when MFW is not responsive Keep sending mailbox commands to the MFW when it is not responsive ends up with a redundant amount of timeout expiries. This patch prints the MCP status on the first command which is not responded, and blocks the following commands. Since the (un)load request commands might be not responded due to other PFs, the patch also adds the option to skip the blocking upon a failure. qed: Prevent a possible deadlock during driver load and unload The MFW manages an internal lock to prevent concurrent hardware (de)initialization of different PFs. This, together with the busy-waiting for the MFW's responses for commands, might lead to a deadlock during concurrent load or unload of PFs. This patch adds the option to sleep within the busy-waiting, and uses it for the (un)load requests (which are not sent from an interrupt context) to prevent the possible deadlock. qed: Fix link flap issue due to mismatching EEE capabilities. Apparently, MFW publishes EEE capabilities even for Fiber-boards that don't support them, and later since qed internally sets adv_caps it would cause link-flap avoidance (LFA) to fail when driver would initiate the link. This in turn delays the link, causing traffic to fail. Driver has been modified to not to ask MFW for any EEE config if EEE isn't to be enabled. This patch replaces cases of: kmalloc(a * b, gfp) with: kmalloc_array(a * b, gfp) as well as handling cases of: kmalloc(a * b * c, gfp) with: kmalloc(array3_size(a, b, c), gfp) as it's slightly less ugly than: kmalloc_array(array_size(a, b), c, gfp) This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like: kmalloc(4 * 1024, gfp) though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion. qed: Send pf-flr as part of initialization During HW initialization, driver would set various registers to their needed values - but it assumes all registers start at their reset-value, so there's no need to re-configure a register's default value. qed: Move to new load request scheme Management firmware is used as an arbiter between the various PFs in regard to loading - it causes the various PFs to load/unload sequentially and informs each of its appropriate rule in the init. But the existing flow is too weak to handle some scenarios where PFs aren't properly cleaned prior to loading. The significant scenarios falling under this criteria: a. Preboot drivers in some environment can't properly unload. b. Unexpected driver replacement [kdump, PDA]. Modern management firmware supports a more intricate loading flow, where the driver has the ability to overcome previous limitations. This moves qed into using this newer scheme. Notice new scheme is backward compatible, so new drivers would still be able to load properly on top of older management firmwares and vice versa. qed: Correct endian order of MAC passed to MFW The management firmware is running on a Big Endian processor, and when running on LE platform HW is configured to swap access to memory shared between management firmware and driver on 32-bit granulariy. As a result, for matters of simplicity most of the APIs between driver and management firmware are based on 32-bit variables. MAC settings are one exception, as driver needs to fill a byte array when indicating to management firmware that primary MAC has changed. Due to the swap, driver must make sure that the mac that was provided in byte-order would be translated into native order, otherwise after the swap the management firmware would read it swapped. qed: Prevent stack corruption on MFW interaction Driver uses a union for copying data to & from management firmware when interacting with it. Problem is that the function always copies sizeof(union) while commit 2edbff8dcb5d ("qed: Learn resources from management firmware") is casting a union elements which is of smaller size [24-byte instead of 88-bytes]. Also, the union contains some inappropriate elements which increase its size [should have been 32-bytes]. While this shouldn't corrupt other PF messages to the MFW [as management firmware enforces permissions so that each PF is allowed to write only to its own mailbox] we fix this here as well. qed: Learn resources from management firmware Currently, each interfaces assumes it receives an equal portion of HW/FW resources, but this is wasteful - different partitions [and specifically, parititions exposing different protocol support] might require different resources. qed: Learn of RDMA capabilities per-device Today, RDMA capabilities are learned from management firmware which provides a per-device indication for all interfaces. Newer management firmware is capable of providing a per-device indication [would later be extended to either RoCE/iWARP]. Try using this newer learning mechanism, but fallback in case management firmware is too old to retain current functionality. qed*: Management firmware - notifications and defaults Management firmware is interested in various tidbits about the driver - including the driver state & several configuration related fields [MTU, primtary MAC, etc.]. This adds the necessray logic to update MFW with such configurations, some of which are passed directly via qed while for others APIs are provide so that qede would be able to later configure if needed. This also introduces a new default configuration for MTU which would replace the default inherited by being an ethernet device. qed: utilize FW 8.10.10.0 This new firmware for the qed* adpaters fixes several issues: - Better blocking of malicious VFs. - After FLR, Tx-switching [internal routing] of packets might be incorrect. - Deletion of unicast MAC filters would sometime have side-effect of corrupting the MAC filters configred for a device. It also contains fixes for future qed* drivers that *hopefully* would be sent for review in the near future. In addition, it would allow driver some new functionality, including: - Allowing PF/VF driver compaitibility with old drivers [running pre-8.10.5.0 firmware]. - Better debug facilities. qed: Utilize FW 8.10.3.0 The New QED firmware contains several fixes, including: - Wrong classification of packets in 4-port devices. - Anti-spoof interoperability with encapsulated packets. - Tx-switching of encapsulated packets. qed: add support for dcbx. This patch adds the necessary driver support for Management Firmware to configure the device/firmware with the dcbx results. Management Firmware is responsible for communicating the DCBX and driving the negotiation, but the driver has responsibility of receiving async notification and configuring the results in hw/fw. This patch also adds the dcbx support for future protocols (e.g., FCoE) as preparation to their imminent submission. qed: IOV configure and FLR While previous patches have already added the necessary logic to probe VFs as well as enabling them in the HW, this patch adds the ability to support VF FLR & SRIOV disable. qed: Introduce VFs This adds the qed VFs for the first time - The vfs are limited functions, with a very different PCI bar structure [when compared with PFs] to better impose the related security demands associated with them. This patch includes the logic neccesary to allow VFs to successfully probe [without actually adding the ability to enable iov]. This includes diverging all the flows that would occur as part of the pci probe of the driver, preventing VF from accessing registers/memories it can't and instead utilize the VF->PF channel to query the PF for needed information. qed: Enlrage the drain timeout In the scenario where slowpath configuration isn't passing due to various pause configurations affecting the chip, the theoretical time required in worst-case-scenario to empty hw fifos sufficiently to guarantee that slowpath configuration would flow is currently insufficient. qed: Major changes to MB locking Driver interaction with the managemnt firmware is done via mailbox commands which the management firmware periodically sample, as well as placing of additional data in set places in the shared memory. Each PF has a single designated mailbox address, and all flows that require messaging to the management should use it. This patch does 2 things: 1. It re-defines the critical section surrounding the mailbox sending - that section should include the setting of the shared memory as well as the sending of the command [otherwise a race might send a command with the data of a different command]. 2. It moves the locking scheme from using mutices into using spinlocks. This lays the groundwork for sending MFW commands from non-sleepable contexts. qed: Prevent MF link notifications When device is configured for Multi-function mode, some older management firmware might incorrectly notify interfaces of link changes while they haven't requested the physical link configuration to be set. This can create bizzare race conditions where unloading interfaces are getting notified that the link is up. Let the driver compensate - store the logical requested state of the link and don't propagate notifications after protocol driver explicitly requires the link to be unset. qed: Add module with basic common support The Qlogic Everest Driver is the backend module for the QL4xxx ethernet products by Qlogic. This module serves two main purposes: 1. It's responsible to contain all the common code that will be shared between the various drivers that would be used with said line of products. Flows such as chip initialization and de-initialization fall under this category. 2. It would abstract the protocol-specific HW & FW components, allowing the protocol drivers to have a clean APIs which is detached in its slowpath configuration from the actual HSI. This adds a very basic module without any protocol-specific bits. I.e., this adds a basic implementation that almost entirely falls under the first category.
