igbvf: Change IGBVF_MIN to allow set rx/tx value between 64 and 80 Change the minimum value of RX/TX descriptors to 64 to enable setting the rx/tx value between 64 and 80. All igbvf devices can use as low as 64 descriptors. This change will unify igbvf with other drivers. Based on commit 7b1be1987c1e ("e1000e: lower ring minimum size to 64") Fixes: d4e0fe01a38a ("igbvf: add new driver to support 82576 virtual functions") Signed-off-by: Olga Zaborska <olga.zaborska@intel.com> Tested-by: Rafal Romanowski <rafal.romanowski@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Tony Nguyen <anthony.l.nguyen@intel.com>

net/intel: remove driver versions from Intel drivers As with other networking drivers, remove the unnecessary driver version from the Intel drivers. The ethtool driver information and module version will then report the kernel version instead. For ixgbe, i40e and ice drivers, the driver passes the driver version to the firmware to confirm that we are up and running. So we now pass the value of UTS_RELEASE to the firmware. This adminq call is required per the HAS document. The Device then sends an indication to the BMC that the PF driver is present. This is done using Host NC Driver Status Indication in NC-SI Get Link command or via the Host Network Controller Driver Status Change AEN. What the BMC may do with this information is implementation-dependent, but this is a standard NC-SI 1.1 command we honor per the HAS. igb/igbvf: Add VF MAC filter request capabilities Add functionality for the VF to request up to 3 additional MAC filters. This is done using existing E1000_VF_SET_MAC_ADDR message, but with additional message info - E1000_VF_MAC_FILTER_CLR to clear all unicast MAC filters previously set for this VF and E1000_VF_MAC_FILTER_ADD to add MAC filter. Additional filters can be added only in case if administrator did not set VF MAC explicitly and allowed to change default MAC to the VF. Due to the limited number of RAR entries reserve at least 3 MAC filters for the PF. If SRIOV is supported by the NIC after this change RAR entries starting from 1 to (RAR MAX ENTRIES - NUM SRIOV VFS) will be used for PF and VF MAC filters. intel: Remove extern from function prototypes There are a mix of function prototypes with and without extern in the kernel sources. Standardize on not using extern for function prototypes. Function prototypes don't need to be written with extern. extern is assumed by the compiler. Its use is as unnecessary as using auto to declare automatic/local variables in a block. igbvf: Make next_to_watch a pointer and adjust memory barriers to avoid races This change is meant to address several race issues that become possible because next_to_watch could possibly be set to a value that shows that the descriptor is done when it is not. In order to correct that we instead make next_to_watch a pointer that is set to NULL during cleanup, and set to the eop_desc after the descriptor rings have been written. To enforce proper ordering the next_to_watch pointer is not set until after a wmb writing the values to the last descriptor in a transmit. In order to guarantee that the descriptor is not read until after the eop_desc we use the read_barrier_depends which is only really necessary on the alpha architecture. igbvf: refactor Interrupt Throttle Rate code The existing ITR code is broken and confusing, with lots of similarly-named variables that do different things. Additionally, after the driver carefully determines the optimal interrupt rate for the adapter, it then ignores it and always writes a fixed, suboptimal value. This patch refactors that code to make variable names more descriptive of what they actually do, and then actually writes the calculated result to the hardware. Preliminary testing shows that netperf TCP_STREAM tests goes from ~918Mbps to ~940Mbps, and TCP_RR goes from ~2k transactions/sec up to > 8k.
