net: intel: i40e/igc: Remove setting Autoneg in EEE capabilities

Energy Efficient Ethernet should always be negotiated with the link
peer. Don't include SUPPORTED_Autoneg in the results of get_eee() for
supported, advertised or lp_advertised, since it is
assumed. Additionally, ethtool(1) ignores the set bit, and no other
driver sets this.

ethtool: replace struct ethtool_eee with a new struct ethtool_keee on kernel side

In order to pass EEE link modes beyond bit 32 to userspace we have to
complement the 32 bit bitmaps in struct ethtool_eee with linkmode
bitmaps. Therefore, similar to ethtool_link_settings and
ethtool_link_ksettings, add a struct ethtool_keee. In a first step
it's an identical copy of ethtool_eee. This patch simply does a
s/ethtool_eee/ethtool_keee/g for all users.
No functional change intended.

i40e: field get conversion

Refactor the i40e driver to use FIELD_GET() for mask and shift reads,
which reduces lines of code and adds clarity of intent.

This code was generated by the following coccinelle/spatch script and
then manually repaired.

While making one of the conversions, an if() check was inverted to
return early and avoid un-necessary indentation of the remainder of the
function. In some other cases a stack variable was moved inside the
block where it was used while doing cleanups/review.

A couple places were changed to use le16_get_bits() instead of FIELD_GET
with a le16_to_cpu combination.

i40e: remove fake support of rx-frames-irq

Since we never support this feature for I40E driver, we don't have to
display the value when using 'ethtool -c eth0'.

Before this patch applied, the rx-frames-irq is 256 which is consistent
with tx-frames-irq. Apparently it could mislead users.

net: ethtool: pass a pointer to parameters to get/set_rxfh ethtool ops

The get/set_rxfh ethtool ops currently takes the rxfh (RSS) parameters
as direct function arguments. This will force us to change the API (and
all drivers' functions) every time some new parameters are added.

This is part 1/2 of the fix, as suggested in [1]:

- First simplify the code by always providing a pointer to all params
(indir, key and func); the fact that some of them may be NULL seems
like a weird historic thing or a premature optimization.
It will simplify the drivers if all pointers are always present.

- Then make the functions take a dev pointer, and a pointer to a
single struct wrapping all arguments. The set_* should also take
an extack.

i40e: Change user notification of non-SFP module in i40e_get_module_info()

Make the driver not produce an error message on
"ethtool -m ethX" command when a non-SFP module is encountered
hence there is no possibility to read the EEPROM.
Make the message to appear in the debug log rather
than as an error string.

Change the return code to -EOPNOTSUPP and the string to make
it more verbose.

intel: fix format warnings

Get ahead of the game and fix all the -Wformat=2 noted warnings in the
intel drivers directory.

There are one set of i40e and iavf warnings I couldn't figure out how to
fix because the driver is already using vsnprintf without an explicit
"const char *" format string.

Tested with both gcc-12 and clang-15. I found gcc-12 runs clean after
this series but clang-15 is a little worried about the vsnprintf lines.

i40e: Split and refactor i40e_nvm_version_str()

The function formats NVM version string according adapter's
EETrackID value. If this value OEM specific (0xffffffff) then
the reported version is with format:
"<gen>.<snap>.<release>"
and in other case
"<nvm_maj>.<nvm_min> <eetrackid> <cvid_maj>.<cvid_bld>.<cvid_min>"

These versions are reported in the subsequent patch in this series
that implements devlink .info_get but separately.

So split the function into separate ones, refactor it to use them
and remove ugly static string buffer.
Additionally convert NVM/OEM version mask macros to use GENMASK and
use FIELD_GET/FIELD_PREP for them in i40e_nvm_version_str() and
i40e_get_oem_version(). This makes code more readable and allows
us to remove related shift macros.

i40e: Remove circular header dependencies and fix headers

Similarly as for ice driver [1] there are also circular header
dependencies in i40e driver:
i40e.h -> i40e_virtchnl_pf.h -> i40e.h

Another issue is that i40e header files does not contain their own
dependencies on other header files (both private and standard) so their
inclusion in .c file require to add these deps in certain order to
that .c file to make it compilable.

Fix both issues by removal the mentioned circular dependency, by filling
i40e headers with their dependencies so they can be placed anywhere in
a source code. Additionally remove bunch of includes from i40e.h super
header file that are not necessary and include i40e.h only in .c files
that really require it.

i40e: Add rx_missed_errors for buffer exhaustion

As the comment in struct rtnl_link_stats64, rx_dropped should not
include packets dropped by the device due to buffer exhaustion.
They are counted in rx_missed_errors, procfs folds those two counters
together.

Add rx_missed_errors for buffer exhaustion, rx_missed_errors corresponds
to rx_discards, rx_dropped corresponds to rx_discards_other.

i40e: change Rx buffer size for legacy-rx to support XDP multi-buffer

Adding support for XDP multi-buffer entails adding information of all
the fragments of the packet in the xdp_buff. This approach implies that
underlying buffer has to provide tailroom for skb_shared_info.

In the legacy-rx mode, driver can only configure up to 2k sized Rx buffers
and with the current configuration of 2k sized Rx buffers there is no way
to do tailroom reservation for skb_shared_info. Hence size of Rx buffers
is now lowered to 2048 - sizeof(skb_shared_info). Also, driver can only
chain up to 5 Rx buffers and this means max MTU supported for legacy-rx
is now 8614 (5 * rx_buffer_len - ETH header with VLAN).

the code to use standard errornums. This however made it

i40e: use int for i40e_status

To prepare for removal of i40e_status, change the variables
from i40e_status to int. This eases the transition when values
are changed to return standard int error codes over enum i40e_status.

As such changes often also change variable orders, a cleanup
is also applied here to make variables conform to RCT and
some lines are also reformatted where applicable.

i40e: Disallow ip4 and ip6 l4_4_bytes

Return -EOPNOTSUPP, when user requests l4_4_bytes for raw IP4 or
IP6 flow director filters. Flow director does not support filtering
on l4 bytes for PCTYPEs used by IP4 and IP6 filters.
Without this patch, user could create filters with l4_4_bytes fields,
which did not do any filtering on L4, but only on L3 fields.

i40e: Fix flow-type by setting GL_HASH_INSET registers

Fix setting bits for specific flow_type for GLQF_HASH_INSET register.
In previous version all of the bits were set only in hena register, while
in inset only one bit was set. In order for this working correctly on all
types of cards these bits needs to be set correctly for both hena and inset
registers.

the driver would fail to setup this setting on X722
device since it was using the mask on the register
dedicated for X710 devices.

Apply a different mask on the register when setting the
RSS hash for the X722 device.

When displaying the flow types enabled via ethtool:

ethtool -n $pf rx-flow-hash tcp4|tcp6|udp4|udp6

the driver would print wrong values for X722 device.

Fix this issue by testing masks for X722 device in
i40e_get_rss_hash_opts function.

This was caused because of new buffers with different RX ring count should
substitute older ones, but those buffers were freed in
i40e_configure_rx_ring and reallocated again with i40e_alloc_rx_bi,
thus kfree on rx_bi caused leak of already mapped DMA.

Fix this by reallocating ZC with rx_bi_zc struct when BPF program loads. Additionally
reallocate back to rx_bi when BPF program unloads.

If BPF program is loaded/unloaded and XSK pools are created, reallocate
RX queues accordingly in XSP_SETUP_XSK_POOL handler.

i40e: Fix incorrect address type for IPv6 flow rules

It was not possible to create 1-tuple flow director
rule for IPv6 flow type. It was caused by incorrectly
checking for source IP address when validating user provided
destination IP address.

Fix this by changing ip6src to correct ip6dst address
in destination IP address validation for IPv6 flow type.

Add ability to change speed through ethtool -s <interface> speed <speed in Mb>
Driver advertises all link modes that support requested speed.
Autoneg must be set off e.g.:
ethtool -s <interface> autoneg off speed <speed in Mb>.

Add helper function that translate speed in Mb to
enum i40e_aq_link_speed and compare it to supported speeds from
given ethtool_link_ksettings. Add in i40e_set_link_ksettings hold
for requested speed and set copy_ks.base.speed to safe_ks.base.speed
to be sure that user is not changing unsupported setting.
In i40e_speed_to_link_speed compare requested speed with supported
speeds. Set speed to requested speed.

i40e: Add VF VLAN pruning

VFs by default are able to see all tagged traffic regardless of trust
and VLAN filters configured.

Add new private flag vf-vlan-pruning that allows changing of default
VF behavior for tagged traffic. When the flag is turned on
untrusted VF will only be able to receive untagged traffic
or traffic with VLAN tags it has created interfaces for

The flag is off by default and can only be changed if
there are no VFs spawned on the PF. This flag will only be effective
when no PVID is set on VF and VF is not trusted.
Add new function that computes the correct VLAN ID for VF VLAN filters
based on trust, PVID, vf-vlan-prune-disable flag and current VLAN ID.

Testing Hints:

Test 1: vf-vlan-pruning == off

1. Set the private flag
> ethtool --set-priv-flag eth0 vf-vlan-pruning off (default setting)

i40e: Fix call trace in setup_tx_descriptors

After PF reset and ethtool -t there was call trace in dmesg
sometimes leading to panic. When there was some time, around 5
seconds, between reset and test there were no errors.

Problem was that pf reset calls i40e_vsi_close in prep_for_reset
and ethtool -t calls i40e_vsi_close in diag_test. If there was not
enough time between those commands the second i40e_vsi_close starts
before previous i40e_vsi_close was done which leads to crash.

Add check to diag_test if pf is in reset and don't start offline
tests if it is true.
Add netif_info("testing failed") into unhappy path of i40e_diag_test()

i40e: Add a stat for tracking pages waived

In some cases, pages can not be reused because they are not associated with
the correct NUMA zone. Knowing how often pages are waived helps users to
understand the interaction between the driver's memory usage and their
system.

Pass rx_stats through to i40e_can_reuse_rx_page to allow tracking when
pages are waived.

The page waive count is accessible via ethtool.

Make warning meaningful for the user.

Previously the trace:
"Starting FW LLDP agent failed: error: I40E_ERR_ADMIN_QUEUE_ERROR, I40E_AQ_RC_EAGAIN"
was produced when user tried to start Firmware LLDP agent,
just after it was stopped with sequence:
ethtool --set-priv-flags <dev> disable-fw-lldp on
ethtool --set-priv-flags <dev> disable-fw-lldp off
(without any delay between the commands)
At that point the firmware is still processing stop command, the behavior
is expected.

i40e: Remove LLDP frame filters

Remove filters from being setup in case of software DCB and allow the
LLDP frames to be properly transmitted to the wire.

It is not possible to transmit the LLDP frame out of the port, if they
are filtered by control VSI. This prohibits software LLDP agent
properly communicate its DCB capabilities to the neighbors.

If veb-stats was enabled, the ethtool stats triggered a warning
due to invalid size: 'unexpected stat size for veb.tc_%u_tx_packets'.
This was due to an incorrect structure definition for the statistics.

Fix addition of VLAN filter for PF after enabling FW LLDP agent.
Changing LLDP Agent causes FW to re-initialize per NVM settings.
Remove default PF filter and move "Enable/Disable" to currently used
reset flag.
Without this patch PF would try to add MAC VLAN filter with default
switch filter present. This causes AQ error and sets promiscuous mode
on.

i40e: VLAN field for flow director

Allow user to specify VLAN field and add it to flow director. Show VLAN
field in "ethtool -n ethx" command.
Handle VLAN type and tag field provided by ethtool command. Refactored
filter addition, by replacing static arrays with runtime dummy packet
creation, which allows specifying VLAN field.
Previously, VLAN field was omitted.

Flow director for IPv6 is not supported.
1) Implementation of support for IPv6 flow director.
2) Added handlers for addition of TCP6, UDP6, SCTP6, IPv6.
3) Refactored legacy code to make it more generic.
4) Added packet templates for TCP6, UDP6, SCTP6, IPv6.
5) Added handling of IPv6 source and destination address for flow director.
6) Improved argument passing for source and destination portin TCP6, UDP6
and SCTP6.
7) Added handling of ethtool -n for IPv6, TCP6,UDP6, SCTP6.
8) Used correct bit flag regarding FLEXOFF field of flow director data
descriptor.

Without this patch, there would be no support for flow director on IPv6,
TCP6, UDP6, SCTP6.

depending whether EEE is to be enabled or disabled.

i40e: Add init and default config of software based DCB

Add extra handling on changing the "disable-fw-lldp" private
flag to properly initialize software based DCB feature.

Add default configuration of DCB functionality when Firmware
LLDP agent is turned off, in case of driver probe and device
reset on reconfiguration.

Update copyright dates as appropriate.

Software based DCB is a brand-new feature in i40e driver.
Before, DCB was implemented by Firmware LLDP agent only. The agent was
responsible for handling incoming DCB-related LLDP frames and
applying received DCB configuration to hardware.

Default configuration and new initialization flow for software based
DCB is required. If LLDP agent is turned off in BIOS, or after
setting private flag ("disable-fw-lldp on"). The driver initializes
DCB functionality with default values, one traffic class with 100%
bandwidth allocated.

i40e: Allow changing FEC settings on X722 if supported by FW

Starting with API version 1.10 firmware for X722 devices has ability
to change FEC settings in PHY. Code added in this patch allows
changing FEC settings if the capability flag indicates the device
supports this feature.

xsk: i40e: ice: ixgbe: mlx5: Pass buffer pool to driver instead of umem

Replace the explicit umem reference passed to the driver in AF_XDP
zero-copy mode with the buffer pool instead. This in preparation for
extending the functionality of the zero-copy mode so that umems can be
shared between queues on the same netdev and also between netdevs. In
this commit, only an umem reference has been added to the buffer pool
struct. But later commits will add other entities to it. These are
going to be entities that are different between different queue ids
and netdevs even though the umem is shared between them.

i40e: Add support for a new feature Total Port Shutdown

After OS requests to down a link on a physical network port, the
traffic is no longer being processed but the physical link with
a link partner is still established.

Currently there is a feature (Link down on close) which allows
to physically bring the link down (after OS request).

With this patch new feature with similar capability is introduced:
TOTAL_PORT_SHUTDOWN
Allows to physically disable the link on the NIC's port.
If enabled, (after link down request from the OS)
no link, traffic or led activity is possible on that port.

If I40E_FLAG_TOTAL_PORT_SHUTDOWN is enabled, the
I40E_FLAG_LINK_DOWN_ON_CLOSE_ENABLED must be explicitly forced to
true and cannot be disabled at that time.
The functionalities are exclusive in terms of configuration, but
they also have similar behavior (allowing to disable physical link
of the port), with following differences:
- LINK_DOWN_ON_CLOSE_ENABLED is configurable at host OS run-time
and is supported by whole family of 7xx Intel Ethernet Controllers
- TOTAL_PORT_SHUTDOWN may be enabled only before OS loads (in BIOS)
only if motherboard's BIOS and NIC's FW has support of it
- when LINK_DOWN_ON_CLOSE_ENABLED is used, the link is being brought
down by sending phy_type=0 to NIC's FW
- when TOTAL_PORT_SHUTDOWN is used, phy_type is not altered, instead
the link is being brought down by clearing bit
(I40E_AQ_PHY_ENABLE_LINK) in abilities field of
i40e_aq_set_phy_config structure

Introduced changes:
- new private flag I40E_FLAG_TOTAL_PORT_SHUTDOWN for handling the
feature
- probe of NVM if the feature was enabled at driver's port
initialization
- special handling on link-down procedure to let FW physically
shutdown the port if the feature was enabled

net/intel: remove driver versions from Intel drivers

As with other networking drivers, remove the unnecessary driver version
from the Intel drivers. The ethtool driver information and module version
will then report the kernel version instead.

For ixgbe, i40e and ice drivers, the driver passes the driver version to
the firmware to confirm that we are up and running. So we now pass the
value of UTS_RELEASE to the firmware. This adminq call is required per
the HAS document. The Device then sends an indication to the BMC that the
PF driver is present. This is done using Host NC Driver Status Indication
in NC-SI Get Link command or via the Host Network Controller Driver Status
Change AEN.

What the BMC may do with this information is implementation-dependent, but
this is a standard NC-SI 1.1 command we honor per the HAS.

i40e: fix crash when Rx descriptor count is changed

When the AF_XDP buffer allocator was introduced, the Rx SW ring
"rx_bi" allocation was moved from i40e_setup_rx_descriptors()
function, and was instead done in the i40e_configure_rx_ring()
function.

This broke the ethtool set_ringparam() hook for changing the Rx
descriptor count, which was relying on i40e_setup_rx_descriptors() to
handle the allocation.

Fix this by adding an explicit i40e_alloc_rx_bi() call to
i40e_set_ringparam().

Currently FW use MDIO I/F number corresponded with current PF for PHY
access. This code allow to specify used MDIO I/F number.

Add new field - command flags with only one flag for now. Added flag
tells FW that it shouldn't change page while accessing QSFP module, as

i40e: Wrong 'Advertised FEC modes' after set FEC to AUTO

Fix display of parameters "Configured FEC encodings:" and "Advertised
FEC modes:" in ethtool. Implemented by setting proper FEC bits in
“advertising” bitmask of link_modes struct and “fec” bitmask in
ethtool_fecparam struct. Without this patch wrong FEC settings
can be shown.

i40e: Check if transceiver implements DDM before access

Similar to the ixgbe issue fixed in:
655c91414579 ("ixgbe: Check DDM existence in transceiver before access)

i40e has the same issue when reading eeprom from SFP's module that comply
with SFF-8472 but not implement the Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM)
interface described in it. The existence of such area is specified by bit
6 of byte 92, set to 1 if implemented.

Without this patch, due to not checking this bit i40e fails to read SFP
module's eeprom with the follow message:

ethtool -m enP51p1s0f0
Cannot get Module EEPROM data: Input/output error

Because it fails to read the additional 256 bytes in which it was assumed
to exist the DDM data.

i40e: Fix descriptor count manipulation

Changing descriptor count via 'ethtool -G' is not persistent across resets.
When PF reset occurs, we roll back to the default value of vsi->num_desc,
which is used then in i40e_alloc_rings to set descriptor count. XDP does a
PF reset so when user has changed the descriptor count and load XDP
program, the default count will be back there.

To fix this:
* introduce new VSI members - num_tx_desc and num_rx_desc in favour of
num_desc
* set them in i40e_set_ringparam to user's values
* set them to default values in i40e_set_num_rings_in_vsi only when they
don't have previous values

i40e: Missing response checks in driver when starting/stopping FW LLDP

Driver updated pf->flags before calling i40e_aq_start_lldp().
This patch moved down updating pf->flags down so flags will be
updated only in case of successful i40e_aq_start_lldp() call.
Also was introduced is_reset_needed local flag to avoid unnecessary h/w
reset in case 40e_aq_start_lldp() didn't change lldp state.

New device ids are created to support X710 backplane and SFP+ cards.

This patch adds in i40e driver support for 2.5GbaseT and 5GbaseT speed.
It's implemented by checking I40E_CAP_PHY_TYPE_2_5GBASE_T,
I40E_CAP_PHY_TYPE_5GBASE_T bits from f/w and setting corresponding bits
in ethtool link ksettings supported and advertising masks.

i40e: Introduce recovery mode support

This patch introduces "recovery mode" to the i40e driver. It is
part of a new Any2Any idea of upgrading the firmware. In this
approach, it is required for the driver to have support for
"transition firmware", that is used for migrating from structured
to flat firmware image. In this new, very basic mode, i40e driver
must be able to handle particular IOCTL calls from the NVM Update
Tool and run a small set of AQ commands.

These additional AQ commands are part of the interface used by
the NVMUpdate tool. The NVMUpdate tool contains all of the
necessary logic to reference these new AQ commands. The end user
experience remains the same, they are using the NVMUpdate tool to
update the NVM contents.

i40e: Implement DDP support in i40e driver

This patch introduces DDP (Dynamic Device Personalization) which allows
loading profiles that change the way internal parser interprets processed
frames. To load DDP profiles it utilizes ethtool flash feature. The files
with recipes must be located in /var/lib/firmware directory. Afterwards
the recipe can be loaded by invoking:

ethtool -f <if_name> - 100

i40e: don't restart nway if autoneg not supported

On link types that do not support autoneg, we cannot attempt to restart
nway negotiation. This results in a dead link that requires a power
cycle to remedy.

Fix this by saving off the autoneg state and checking this value before
we try to restart nway.

i40e: disallow changing the number of descriptors when AF_XDP is on

When an AF_XDP UMEM is attached to any of the Rx rings, we disallow a
user to change the number of descriptors via e.g. "ethtool -G IFNAME".

Otherwise, the size of the stash/reuse queue can grow unbounded, which
would result in OOM or leaking userspace buffers.

i40e(vf): remove i40e_ethtool_stats.h header file

Essentially reverts commit 8fd75c58a09a ("i40e: move ethtool
stats boiler plate code to i40e_ethtool_stats.h", 2018-08-30), and
additionally moves the similar code in i40evf into i40evf_ethtool.c.

The code was intially moved from i40e_ethtool.c into i40e_ethtool_stats.h
as a way of better logically organizing the code. This has two problems.
First, we can't have an inline function with variadic arguments on all
platforms. Second, it gave the appearance that we had plans to share
code between the i40e and i40evf drivers, due to having a near copy of
the contents in the i40evf/i40e_ethtool_stats.h file.

Patches which actually attempt to combine or share code between the i40e
and i40evf drivers have not materialized, and are likely a ways off.

Rather than fixing the one function which causes build issues, just move
this code back into the i40e_ethtool.c and i40evf_ethtool.c files. Note
that we also change these functions back from static inlines to just
statics, since they're no longer in a header file.

We can revisit this if/when work is done to actually attempt to share
code between drivers. Alternatively, this stats code could be made more
generic so that it can be shared across drivers as part of ethtool
kernel work.

i40e: convert queue stats to i40e_stats array

Use an i40e_stats array to handle the queue stats, instead of coding
similar functionality separately. Because of how the queue stats are
accessed on some kernels, we can't easily use i40e_add_ethtool_stats.

Instead, implement a separate helper, i40e_add_queue_stats, which we'll
use instead. This helper will correctly implement the
u64_stats_fetch_begin_irq logic and allow retries until successful. We
share the most complex code by re-using i40e_add_one_ethtool_stat.

This logic additionally easily supports skipping disabled rings by using
a ternary operator before calling the u64_stats_fetch_begin_irq()
function, so that we correctly zero-out the stats values without having
to perform two separate sections of code.

This significantly reduces the boiler plate code in
i40e_get_ethtool_stats, and helps keep the complex logic contained to as
few functions as possible.

With this patch, we've finally converted all the statistics to use the
helpers and the i40e_stats function.

i40e: fix condition of WARN_ONCE for stat strings

Commit 9b10df596bd4 ("i40e: use WARN_ONCE to replace the commented
BUG_ON size check") introduced a warning check to make sure
that the size of the stat strings was always the expected value. This
code accidentally inverted the check of the data pointer. Fix this so
that we accurately count the size of the stats we copied in.

This fixes an erroneous WARN kernel splat that occurs when requesting
ethtool statistics.

i40e: fix i40e_add_queue_stats data pointer update

This function accidentally failed to update the data pointer, which
caused the reported stats to be incorrect. Additionally, statistics
which follow queue stats in the output would potentially read non-zeroed
garbage data from the ethtool buffer.

This occurred because the data double pointer was not dereferenced
before incrementing the size.

Additionally, make sure this issue is more visible by adding a WARN_ONCE
to the i40e_get_ethtool_stats function. This warning will trigger
whenever the data pointer is not at the expected address, similar to the
check that we make in the i40e_get_stat_strings() function.

i40e: fix warning about shadowed ring parameter

In commit 147e81ec7568 ("i40e: Test memory before ethtool alloc succeeds")
code was added to handle ring allocation on systems with low memory.

It shadowed the ring parameter pointer by introducing a local ring
pointer inside the for loop. Most of the code in the loop already just
accessed the ring via &rx_rings[i]. Since most of the code already does
this, just remove the local variable.

If someone considers it worth keeping a local around, they should use it
for the whole section instead of just a couple of accesses.

This fixes a warning when -Wshadow is enabled

i40e: remove unnecessary i variable causing -Wshadow warning

Commit c61c8fe1d592 ("i40e: Implement an ethtool private flag to stop
LLDP in FW") added an extra for-loop which added a shadowing 'i'
variable as the index.

However, the local variable i already exists, and we already use it as
a loop index. Additionally, at this point, there is no further use of
the variable, so it's safe to simply overwrite the variable contents.

This fixes a -Wshadow warning which has started being enabled on some
distributions

i40e: convert priority flow control stats to use helpers

The priority flow control statistics are laid out in the stats structure
using arrays. This made it unwieldy to use as part of an i40e_stats
array.

Add a new structure type, i40e_pfc_stats, and a helper function
i40e_get_pfc_stats which can return the stats for a given priority
value as an i40e_pfc_stats structure.

Use this to create an i40e_stats array, which we'll use to format and
copy the strings and stats into the supplied buffers.

This reduces even more boiler plate code in i40e_get_ethtool_stats and
i40e_get_stat_strings.

An alternative would be to modify the structure definition for the pfc
stats, but this is more invasive to the rest of the code base.

Note that a macro was used to setup the copy of stats from the
pf->stats, as this reduces the chance of typos in the code names. It
will produce a checkpatch.pl warning due to re-use of a macro argument.
In this case, it should be safe, as the macro will fail to compile in
cases where the argument is not a simple structure member name, and thus
arguments with side effects should not be an issue.

i40e: convert VEB TC stats to use an i40e_stats array

The VEB TC stats are currently implemented with separate parsing,
instead of using the i40e_stats array and associated helper functions.
This is likely because the stats rely on embedding the TC number into
the stat name.

Update i40e_add_stat_strings to take variadic arguments, and use these
to vsnprintf the i40e_stats string as a string containing format
specifiers.

Create a stats array for the VEB TC related stats,
i40e_gstrings_veb_tc_stats, and use this along with the helper functions
to remove the specialized boiler plate code.

Always call i40e_add_ethtool_stats for both this array and the general
VEB stats array. This ensures that we zero out any memory in case it was
not zero-allocated for us.

This ultimately results in less boiler plate code for the
i40e_get_stat_strings and i40e_get_ethtool_stats.

i40e: add helper function for copying strings from stat arrays

Many of the ethtool statistics use the same basic logic for copying
strings into the supplied buffer. A set of stats are stored in a const
array of i40e_stats structures, and we apply these all together.

Simplify the stats code by introducing a helper function which can take
a stats array and copy the strings into the buffer, updating the buffer
pointer as we go.

We use a macro to implement i40e_add_stat_strings so that ARRAY_SIZE can
be used on the array passed in. This ensures that we always use the
matching size in __i40e_add_stat_strings.

More complex stats currently do not use i40e_stats arrays, usually due
to custom formatted strings, or because the stats are not laid out in
the expected way. These stats will be updated to use the helper function
in separate future patches.

i40e: update data pointer directly when copying to the buffer

A future patch is going to add a helper function i40e_add_ethtool_stats
that will help lower the amount of boiler plate code in the
i40e_get_ethtool_stats function.

This conversion will take place over many patches, and the helper
function will work by directly updating a reference to the data pointer.

Since this would not work combined with the current method of accessing
data like an array, update all the code that copies stats into the data
buffer to use direct updates to the pointer instead of array accesses.

This will prevent incorrect stat updates for patches in between the
conversion.

Similarly, when copying strings, we used a separate char *p pointer.
Instead, use the data pointer directly as it's already a (u8 *) type
which is the same size.

i40e: use WARN_ONCE to replace the commented BUG_ON size check

We don't really want to use BUG_ON here since that would completely
crash the kernel, thus the reason we commented it out. We *can't* use
BUILD_BUG_ON because at least now (a) the sizes aren't constant (we are
fixing this) and (b) not all compilers are smart enough to understand
that "p - data" is a constant.

Instead, just use a WARN_ONCE so that the first time we end up with an
incorrect size we will dump a stack trace and a message, hopefully
highlighting the issues early in testing.

The ethtool API for obtaining device statistics is not intended to allow
runtime changes in the number of statistics reported. It may *appear*
this way, as there is an ability to request the number of stats using
ethtool_get_set_count(). However, it is expected that this must always
return the same value for invocations of the same device.

If we don't satisfy this contract, and allow the number of stats to
change during run time, we could cause invalid memory accesses or report
the stat strings incorrectly. This is because the API for obtaining
stats is to (1) get the size, (2) get the strings and finally (3) get
the stats. Since these are each separate ethtool op commands, it is not
possible to maintain consistency by holding the RTNL lock over the whole
operation. This results in the potential for a race condition to occur
where the size changed between any of the 3 calls.

Avoid this issue by requiring that we always return the same value for
a given device. We can check any values which remain constant for the
life of the device, but must not report different sizes depending on
runtime attributes.

This patch specifically fixes the queue statistics to always return
every queue even if it's not currently in use.

i40e: remove duplicate pfc stats

The pfc related priority stats are already handled separately as these
stats are actually arrays of length I40E_MAX_USER_PRIORITY. Thus,
including them within i40e_gstrings_stats will just duplicate data.

Worse, the sizeof will be incorrect, as it will be the total size of the
stat arrays, which in this case is 8 * sizeof(u64), so we will only copy
the stat contents as if they were a u32.

Since we already correctly handle these stats else where, remove them
from the i40e_gstrings_stats.

i40e: move AUTO_DISABLED flags into the state field

The two Flow Directory auto disable flags are used at run time to mark
when the flow director features needed to be disabled. Thus the flags
could change even when the RTNL lock is not held.

They also have some code constructions which really should be
test_and_set or test_and_clear using atomic bit operations.

Create new state fields to mark this, and stop including them in
pf->flags.

This is part of a larger effort to remove the need for cmpxchg64 in
i40e_set_priv_flags().

i40e: Properly check allowed advertisement capabilities

The i40e_set_link_ksettings and i40e_get_link_ksettings use different
codepaths to check available and supported advertisement modes. This
creates scenarios where it's possible to set a mode that's not allowed,
resulting in a link down.

Fix setting advertisement in i40e_set_link_ksettings by calling
i40e_get_link_ksettings to check what modes are allowed.

i40e: link_down_on_close private flag support

This patch introduces new ethtool private flag used for
forcing true link state. Function i40e_force_link_state that implements
this functionality was added, it sets phy_type = 0 in order to
work-around firmware's LESM. False positive error messages were
suppressed.

The ndo_open() should not succeed if there were issues with forcing link
state to be UP.

Added I40E_PHY_TYPES_BITMASK define with all phy types OR-ed together in
one bitmask. Added after phy type definition, so it will be hard to
forget to include new phy types to the bitmask.

i40e: i40e: Change ethtool check from MAC to HW flag

The MAC, FW Version and NPAR check used to determine
if shutting off the FW LLDP engine is supported is not
using the usual feature check mechanism.

This patch fixes the problem by moving the feature check
to i40e_sw_init in order to set a flag in pf->hw_features
that ethtool will use for priv_flags disable operation.

i40e/i40evf: Split container ITR into current_itr and target_itr

This patch is mostly prep-work for replacing the current approach to
programming the dynamic aka adaptive ITR. Specifically here what we are
doing is splitting the Tx and Rx ITR each into two separate values.

The first value current_itr represents the current value of the register.

The second value target_itr represents the desired value of the register.

The general plan by doing this is to allow for deferring the update of the
ITR value under certain circumstances. For now we will work with what we
have, but in the future I hope to change the behavior so that we always
only update one ITR at a time using some simple logic to determine which
ITR requires an update.

i40e/i40evf: Use usec value instead of reg value for ITR defines

Instead of using the register value for the defines when setting up the
ring ITR we can just use the actual values and avoid the use of shifts and
macros to translate between the values we have and the values we want.

This helps to make the code more readable as we can quickly translate from
one value to the other.

i40e/i40evf: Clean-up of bits related to using q_vector->reg_idx

This patch is a further clean-up related to the change over to using
q_vector->reg_idx when accessing the ITR registers. Specifically the code
appears to have several other spots where we were computing the register
offset manually and this resulted in errors in a few spots.

Specifically in the i40evf functions for mapping queues to vectors it
appears we may have had an off by 1 error since (v_idx - 1) for the first
q_vector with an index of 0 would result in us returning -1 if I am not
mistaken.

i40e: use changed_flags to check I40E_FLAG_DISABLE_FW_LLDP

Currently in i40e_set_priv_flags we use new_flags to check for the
I40E_FLAG_DISABLE_FW_LLDP flag. This is an issue for a few a reasons.
DISABLE_FW_LLDP is persistent across reboots/driver reloads. This means
we need some way to detect if FW LLDP is enabled on init. We do this by
trying to init_dcb and if it fails with EPERM we know LLDP is disabled
in FW.

This could be a problem on older FW versions or NPAR enabled PFs because
there are situations where the FW could disable LLDP, but they do _not_
support using this flag to change it. If we do end up in this
situation, the flag will be set, then when the user tries to change any
priv flags, the driver thinks the user is trying to disable FW LLDP on a
FW that doesn't support it and essentially forbids any priv flag
changes.

The fix is simple, instead of checking if this flag is set, we should be
checking if the user is trying to _change_ the flag on unsupported FW
versions.

This patch also adds a comment explaining that the cmpxchg is the point
of no return. Once we put the new flags into pf->flags we can't back
out.

i40e: fix reported mask for ntuple filters

In commit 36777d9fa24c ("i40e: check current configured input set when
adding ntuple filters") some code was added to report the input set
mask for a given filter when reporting it to the user.

This code is necessary so that the reported filter correctly displays
that it is or is not masking certain fields.

Unfortunately the code was incorrect. Development error accidentally
swapped the mask values for the IPv4 addresses with the L4 port numbers.
The port numbers are only 16bits wide while IPv4 addresses are 32 bits.
Unfortunately we assigned only 16 bits to the IPv4 address masks.
Additionally we assigned 32bit value 0xFFFFFFF to the TCP port numbers.
This second part does not matter as the value would be truncated to
16bits regardless, but it is unnecessary.

Fix the reported masks to properly report that the entire field is
masked.

i40e: disallow programming multiple filters with same criteria

Our hardware does not allow situations where two filters might conflict
when matching. Essentially hardware only programs one filter for each
set of matching criteria. We don't support filters with overlapping
input sets, because each flow type can only use a single input set.

Additionally, different flow types will never have overlapping matches,
because of how the hardware parses the flow type before checking
matching criteria.

For this reason, we do not need or use the location number when
programming filters to hardware.

In order to avoid confusing scenarios with filters that match the same
criteria but program the flow to different queues, do not allow multiple
filters that match identical criteria to be programmed.

This ensures that we avoid odd scenarios when deleting filters, and when
programming new filters that match the same criteria.

Instead, users that wish to update the criteria for a filter must use
the same location id, or must delete all the matching filters first.

i40e: program fragmented IPv4 filter input set

When implementing support for IP_USER_FLOW filters, we correctly
programmed a filter for both the non fragmented IPv4/Other filter, as
well as the fragmented IPv4 filters. However, we did not properly
program the input set for fragmented IPv4 PCTYPE. This meant that the
filters would almost certainly not match, unless the user specified all
of the flow types.

Add support to program the fragmented IPv4 filter input set. Since we
always program these filters together, we'll assume that the two input
sets must match, and will thus always program the input sets to the same
value.

i40e: Implement an ethtool private flag to stop LLDP in FW

Implement the private flag disable-fw-lldp for ethtool
to disable the processing of LLDP packets by the FW.
This will stop the FW from consuming LLDPDU and cause
them to be sent up the stack.

The FW is also being configured to apply a default DCB
configuration on link up.

Toggling the value of this flag will also cause a PF reset.

Disabling FW DCB will also disable DCBx.

i40e: Fix for adding multiple ethtool filters on the same location

This patch reorders i40e_add_del_fdir and i40e_update_ethtool_fdir_entry
calls so that we first remove an already existing filter (inside
i40e_update_ethtool_fdir_entry using i40e_add_del_fdir) and then
we add a new one with i40e_add_del_fdir.
After applying this patch, creating multiple identical filters (with
the same location) one after another doesn't revert their behavior
but behaves correctly.

i40e: setup xdp_rxq_info

The i40e driver has a special "FDIR" RX-ring (I40E_VSI_FDIR) which is
a sideband channel for configuring/updating the flow director tables.
This (i40e_vsi_)type does not invoke XDP-ebpf code.

As suggested by Björn (V2): Instead of marking this I40E_VSI_FDIR RX-ring
a special case, reverse the logic and only select RX-rings of type
I40E_VSI_MAIN to register xdp_rxq_info's for.

Driver hook points for xdp_rxq_info:
* reg : i40e_setup_rx_descriptors (via i40e_vsi_setup_rx_resources)
* unreg: i40e_free_rx_resources (via i40e_vsi_free_rx_resources)

Tested on actual hardware with samples/bpf program.

Please do not apply this to mainline directly, instead please re-run the
coccinelle script shown below and apply its output.

For several reasons, it is desirable to use {READ,WRITE}_ONCE() in
preference to ACCESS_ONCE(), and new code is expected to use one of the
former. So far, there's been no reason to change most existing uses of
ACCESS_ONCE(), as these aren't harmful, and changing them results in
churn.

However, for some features, the read/write distinction is critical to
correct operation. To distinguish these cases, separate read/write
accessors must be used. This patch migrates (most) remaining
ACCESS_ONCE() instances to {READ,WRITE}_ONCE(), using the following

We are still largely using the old ethtool API macros. This is
problematic because eventually they will be removed and they only
support 32 bits of PHY types.

This overhauls i40e_phy_type_to_ethtool to use only the new API. Doing

The remaining usages of the old ethtool API will be addressed in other
patches in the series.

i40e: group autoneg PHY types together

This separates the setting of autoneg in i40e_phy_types_to_ethtool into
its own conditional. Doing this adds clarity as what PHYs
support/advertise autoneg and makes it easier to add new PHY types in
the future.

This also fixes an issue on devices with CRT_RETIMER where advertising
autoneg was being set, but supported autoneg was not.

This fixes two issues in i40e_get_link_ksettings. It adds calls to
ethtool_link_ksettings_zero_link_mode to make sure advertising and
supported link masks are cleared before we start setting bits in them.

This also replaces some funky bit manipulations with a much nicer call
to ethtool_link_ksettings_del_link_mode when removing link modes.

i40e: Enable 'channel' mode in mqprio for TC configs

The i40e driver is modified to enable the new mqprio hardware
offload mode and factor the TCs and queue configuration by
creating channel VSIs. In this mode, the priority to traffic
class mapping and the user specified queue ranges are used
to configure the traffic classes by setting the mode option to
'channel'.

The HW channels created are removed and all the queue configuration
is set to default when the qdisc is detached from the root of the
device.

This patch also disables setting up channels via ethtool (ethtool -L)
when the TCs are configured using mqprio scheduler.

The patch also limits setting ethtool Rx flow hash indirection
(ethtool -X eth0 equal N) to max queues configured via mqprio.
The Rx flow hash indirection input through ethtool should be
validated so that it is within in the queue range configured via
tc/mqprio. The bound checking is achieved by reporting the current
rss size to the kernel when queues are configured via mqprio.

i40e/i40evf: organize and re-number feature flags

Now that we've reduced the number of flags, organize similar flags
together and re-number them accordingly.

Since we don't yet have more than 32 flags, we'll use a u32 for both the
hw_features and flag field. Should we gain more flags in the future, we
may need to convert to a u64 or separate flags out into two fields.

One alternative approach considered, but not implemented here, was to
use an enumeration for the flag variables, and create a macro
I40E_FLAG() which used string concatenation to generate BIT_ULL values.
This has the advantage of making the actual bit values compile-time
dynamic so that we do not need to worry about matching the order to the
bit value. However, this does produce a high level of code churn, and
makes it more difficult to read a dumped flags value when debugging.

i40e: add private flag to control source pruning

By default, our devices do source pruning, that is, they drop receive
packets that have the source MAC matching one of the receive filters.
Unfortunately, this breaks ARP monitoring in channel bonding, as the
bonding driver expects devices to receive ARPs containing their own
source address.

Add an ethtool private flag to control this feature.

Also, remove the netif_running() check when we process our private
flags. It's OK to reset when the device is closed and in most cases we
need the reset the apply these changes.

Currently the driver allows the user to change (or even disable)
interrupt moderation if adaptive-rx/tx is enabled when this should
not be the case.

Adaptive RX/TX will not respect the user's ITR settings so
allowing the user to change it is weird. This bug would also
allow the user to disable interrupt moderation with adaptive-rx/tx
enabled which doesn't make much sense either.

This patch makes it such that if adaptive-rx/tx is enabled, the user
cannot make any manual adjustments to interrupt moderation. It also
makes it so that if ITR is disabled but adaptive-rx/tx is then
enabled, ITR will be re-enabled.

i40e/i40evf: use cmpxchg64 when updating private flags in ethtool

When a user gives an invalid command to change a private flag which is
not supported, either because it is read-only, or the device is not
capable of the feature, we simply ignore the request.

A naive solution would simply be to report error codes when one of the
flags was not supported. However, this causes problems because it makes
the operation not atomic. If a user requests multiple private flags
together at once we could end up changing one before failing at the
second flag.

We can do a bit better if we instead update a temporary copy of the
flags variable in the loop, and then copy it into place after. If we
aren't careful this has the pitfall of potentially silently overwriting
any changes caused by other threads.

Avoid this by using cmpxchg64 which will compare and swap the flags
variable only if it currently matched the old value. We'll report
-EAGAIN in the (hopefully rare!) case where the cmpxchg64 fails.

This ensures that we can properly report when flags are not supported in
an atomic fashion without the risk of overwriting other threads changes.

i40e: separate hw_features from runtime changing flags

The number of flags found in pf->flags has grown quite large, and there
are a lot of different types of flags. Most of the flags are simply
hardware features which are enabled on some firmware or some MAC types.
Other flags are dynamic run-time flags which enable or disable certain
features of the driver.

Separate these two types of flags into pf->hw_features and pf->flags.
The hw_features list will contain a set of features which are enabled at
init time. This will not contain toggles or otherwise dynamically
changing features. These flags should not need atomic protections, as
they will be set once during init and then be essentially read only.

Everything else will remain in the flags variable. These flags may be
modified at any time during run time. A future patch may wish to convert
these flags into set_bit/clear_bit/test_bit or similar approach to
ensure atomic correctness.

The I40E_FLAG_MFP_ENABLED flag may be a good fit for hw_features but
currently is used by ethtool in the private flags settings, and thus has
been left as part of flags.

Additionally, I40E_FLAG_DCB_CAPABLE may be a good fit for the
hw_features but this patch has not tried to untangle it yet.

i40e: add support for XDP_TX action

This patch adds proper XDP_TX action support. For each Tx ring, an
additional XDP Tx ring is allocated and setup. This version does the
DMA mapping in the fast-path, which will penalize performance for
IOMMU enabled systems. Further, debugfs support is not wired up for
the XDP Tx rings.

i40e: fix handling of HW ATR eviction

A recent commit to refactor the driver and remove the hw_disabled_flags
field accidentally introduced two regressions. First, we overwrote
pf->flags which removed various key flags including the MSI-X settings.

Additionally, it was intended that we have now two flags,
HW_ATR_EVICT_CAPABLE and HW_ATR_EVICT_ENABLED, but this was not done,
and we accidentally were mis-using HW_ATR_EVICT_CAPABLE everywhere.

This patch adds the missing piece, HW_ATR_EVICT_ENABLED, and safely
updates pf->flags instead of overwriting it.

Without this patch we will have many problems including disabling MSI-X
support, and we'll attempt to use HW ATR eviction on devices which do
not support it.

i40e: add statistic indicating number of skipped Tx timestamps

The i40e driver can only handle one Tx timestamp request at a time.
This means it is possible for an application timestamp request to be
ignored.

There is no easy way for an administrator to determine if this occurred.
Add a new statistic which tracks this, tx_hwtstamp_skipped.

i40e: remove hw_disabled_flags in favor of using separate flag bits

The hw_disabled_flags field was added as a way of signifying that
a feature was automatically or temporarily disabled. However, we
actually only use this for FDir features. Replace its use with new
_AUTO_DISABLED flags instead. This is more readable, because you aren't
setting an *_ENABLED flag to *disable* the feature.

Additionally, clean up a few areas where we used these bits. First, we
don't really need to set the auto-disable flag for ATR if we're fully
disabling the feature via ethtool.

Second, we should always clear the auto-disable bits in case they somehow
got set when the feature was disabled. However, avoid displaying
a message that we've re-enabled the feature.

Third, we shouldn't be re-enabling ATR in the SB ntuple add flow,
because it might have been disabled due to space constraints. Instead,
we should just wait for the fdir_check_and_reenable to be called by the
watchdog.

Overall, this change allows us to simplify some code by removing an
extra field we didn't need, and the result should make it more clear as
to what we're actually doing with these flags.

i40e: use DECLARE_BITMAP for state fields

Instead of assuming our flags fit within an unsigned long, use
DECLARE_BITMAP which will ensure that we always allocate enough space.
Additionally, use __I40E_STATE_SIZE__ markers as the last element of the
enumeration so that the size of the BITMAP is compile-time assigned
rather than programmer-time assigned. This ensures that potential future
flag additions do not actually overrun the array. This is especially
important as 32bit systems would only have 32bit longs instead of 64bit
longs as we generally have assumed in the prior code.

This change also removes a dereference of the state fields throughout
the code, so it does have a bit of code churn. The conversions were
automated using sed replacements with an alternation

s/&(vsi->back|vsi|pf)->state/\1->state/
s/&adapter->vsi.state/adapter->vsi.state/

For debugfs, we modify the printing so that we can display chunks of the
state value on new lines. This ensures that we can print the entire set
of state values. Additionally, we now print them as 08lx to ensure that
they display nicely.

i40e: fix CONFIG_BUSY checks in i40e_set_settings function

The check for I40E_CONFIG_BUSY state bit in the i40e_set_link_ksettings
function is fishy. First we can notice a few things about the check here.

First a similar check was introduced by commit
'c7d05ca89f8e ("i40e: driver ethtool core")'

Later a commit introducing the link settings was added by commit
'bf9c71417f72 ("i40e: Implement set_settings for ethtool")'

However, this second check was against vsi->state instead of pf->state,
and also failed to set the bit, it only checks. That indicates the locking
was not quite correct. The only other place that the state bit
in vsi->state gets used is to protect the filter list.

Since this code does not care about the mac filter list, and seems
clear the original code should have set the pf->state bit. Fix these
issues by using pf->state correctly, and by actually setting the bit
so that we properly lock as expected.

Since these checks occur while holding the rtnl_lock(), lets also add a
timeout so that we don't potentially softlock the system.

i40e: Simplify i40e_detect_recover_hung_queue logic

This patch greatly reduces the unneeded complexity in the
i40e_detect_recover_hung_queue code path. The previous implementation
set a 'hung bit' which would then get cleared while polling. If the
detection routine was called a second time with the bit already set, we
would issue a software interrupt. This patch makes it such that if
interrupts are disabled and we have pending TX descriptors, we trigger a
software interrupt since in, the worst case, queues are already clean
and we have an extra interrupt.

Additionally this patch removes the workaround for lost interrupts as
calling napi_reschedule in this context can cause software interrupts to
fire on the wrong CPU.

This patch adds a control which will allow us to toggle into and out of the
legacy Rx mode. The legacy Rx mode is what we currently do when performing
Rx. As I make further changes what should happen is that the driver will
fall back to the behavior for Rx as of this patch should the "legacy-rx"
flag be set to on.

i40e: Clean up handling of private flags

This patch cleans up and addresses several issues in the way that i40e
handles private flags. Previously the code was choosing fixed bits and
trying to match them up with strings in a somewhat haphazard way. This
resulted in the possibility for adding a new bit and causing a mismatch as
the private flags are linear bits starting at 0, and the private flags in
the driver were split up over a group specific to the PF and a group that
was global.

What this change does is define an array of structs used to represent the
private flags. Contained within the structs are the bits necessary to know
which flags to set and/or clear depending on the state of the bit. By
doing this we can add new bits in the future with minimal overhead and
avoid creating possible mis-matches should we need to remove a flag based
on compile options.

i40e: Drop FCoE code from core driver files

Looking over the code for FCoE it looks like the Rx path has been broken at
least since the last major Rx refactor almost a year ago. It seems like
FCoE isn't supported for any of the Fortville/Fortpark hardware so there
isn't much point in carrying the code around, especially if it is broken
and untested.

i40e: implement support for flexible word payload

Add support for flexible payloads passed via ethtool user-def field.
This support is somewhat limited due to hardware design. The input set
can only be programmed once per filter type, and the flexible offset is
part of this filter input set. This means that the user cannot program
both a regular and a flexible filter at the same time for a given flow
type. Additionally, the user may not program two flexible filters of the
same flow type with different offsets, although they are allowed to
configure different values at that offset location.

We support a single flexible word (2byte) value per protocol type, and
we handle the FLX_PIT register using a list of flexible entries so that
each flow type may be configured separately.

Due to hardware implementation, the flexible data is offset from the
start of the packet payload, and thus may not be in part of the header
data. For this reason, the offset provided by the user defined data is
interpreted as a byte offset from the start of the matching payload.
Previous implementations have tried to represent the offset as from the
start of the frame, but this is not feasible because header sizes may
change due to options.

i40e: add parsing of flexible filter fields from userdef

Add code to parse the user-def field into a data structure format. This
code is intended to allow future extensions of the user-def field by
keeping all code that actually reads and writes the field into a single
location. This ensures that we do not litter the driver with references
to the user-def field and minimizes the amount of bitwise operations we
need to do on the data.

Add code which parses the lower 32bits into a flexible word and its
offset. This will be used in a future patch to enable flexible filters
which can match on some arbitrary data in the packet payload. For now,
we just return -EOPNOTSUPP when this is used.

Add code to fill in the user-def field when reporting the filter back,
even though we don't actually implement any user-def fields yet.

Additionally, ensure that we mask the extended FLOW_EXT bit from the
flow_type now that we will be accepting filters which have the FLOW_EXT
bit set (and thus make use of the user-def field).

i40e: partition the ring_cookie to get VF index

Do not use the user-def field for determining the VF target. Instead,
similar to ixgbe, partition the ring_cookie value into 8bits of VF
index, along with 32bits of queue number. This is better than using the
user-def field, because it leaves the field open for extension in
a future patch which will enable flexible data. Also, this matches with
convention used by ixgbe and other drivers.

i40e: allow changing input set for ntuple filters

Add support to detect when we can update the input set for each flow
type.

Because the hardware only supports a single input set for all flows of
that matching type, the driver shall only allow the input set to change
if there are no other configured filters for that flow type.

Thus, the first filter added for each flow type is allowed to change the
input set, and all future filters must match the same input set. Display
a diagnostic message whenever the filter input set changes, and
a warning whenever a filter cannot be accepted because it does not match
the configured input set.

i40e: check current configured input set when adding ntuple filters

Do not assume that hardware has been programmed with the default mask,
but instead read the input set registers to determine what is currently
programmed. This ensures that all programmed filters match exactly how
the hardware will interpret them, avoiding confusion regarding filter
behavior.

This sets the initial ground-work for allowing custom input sets where
some fields are disabled. A future patch will fully implement this
feature.

Instead of using bitwise negation, we'll just explicitly check for the
correct value. The use of htonl and htons are used to silence sparse
warnings. The compiler should be able to handle the constant value and
avoid actually performing a byteswap.

i40e: correctly honor the mask fields for ETHTOOL_SRXCLSRLINS

The current implementation of .set_rxnfc does not properly read the mask
field for filter entries. This results in incorrect driver behavior, as
we do not reject filters which have masks set to ignore some fields. The
current implementation simply assumes that every part of the tuple or
"input set" is specified. This results in filters not behaving as
expected, and not working correctly.

As a first step in supporting some partial filters, add code which
checks the mask fields and rejects any filters which do not have an
acceptable mask. For now, we just assume that all fields must be set.

This will get the driver one step towards allowing some partial filters.
At a minimum, the ethtool commands which previously installed filters
that would not function will now return a non-zero exit code indicating
failure instead.

We should now be meeting the minimum requirements of the .set_rxnfc API,
by ensuring that all filters we program have a valid mask value for each
field.

Finally, add code to report the mask correctly so that the ethtool
command properly reports the mask to the user.

Note that the typecast to (__be16) when checking source and destination
port masks is required because the ~ bitwise negation operator does not
correctly handle variables other than integer size.

i40e: don't use arrays for (src|dst)_ip

The code originally included src_ip and dst_ip with enough space to
support ipv6 filters. However, no actual support for ipv6 filters has
been implemented. Thus, remove the arrays and just use __be32 values.
Should ipv6 support be added in the future, we can replace these with
a union that has sizes for both values.

i40e: fix ethtool to get EEPROM data from X722 interface

Currently ethtool -e will error out with a X722 interface
as its EEPROM has a scope limit at offset 0x5B9FFF.
This patch fixes the issue by setting the EEPROM length to
the scope limit to avoid NVM read failure beyond that.

i40e: add interrupt rate limit verbosity

Due to the resolution of the register controlling interrupt rate
limiting, setting certain values for the interrupt rate limit make it
appear as though the limiting is not completely accurate. The problem
is that the interrupt rate limit is getting rounded down to the nearest
multiple of 4. This patch fixes the problem by adding some feedback to
the user as to the actual interrupt rate limit being used when it
differs from the requested limit. Without this patch setting interrupt
rate limits may appear to behave inaccurately.

i40e: refactor macro INTRL_USEC_TO_REG

This patch refactors the macro INTRL_USEC_TO_REG into a static inline
function and fixes a couple subtle bugs caused by the macro.

This patch fixes a bug which was caused by passing a bad register value
to the firmware. If enabling interrupt rate limiting, a non-zero value
for the rate limit must be used. Otherwise the firmware sets the
interrupt rate limit to the maximum value. Due to the limited
resolution of the register, attempting to set a value of 1, 2, or 3
would be rounded down to 0 and limiting was left enabled, causing
unexpected behavior.

This patch also fixes a possible bug in which using the macro itself can
introduce unintended side-affects because the macro argument is used
more than once in the macro definition (e.g. a variable post-increment
argument would perform a double increment on the variable).

Without this patch, attempting to set interrupt rate limits of 1, 2, or
3 results in unexpected behavior and future use of this macro could
cause subtle bugs.

i40e: Add support for 25G devices

Add support for 25G devices - defines and data structures.

One tricky part here is that the firmware support for these
Devices introduces a mismatch between the PHY type enum and
the bitfields for the phy types.

This change creates a macro and uses it to increment the 25G
PHY values when creating 25G bitfields.

i40e: Blink LED on 1G BaseT boards

Before this patch "ethtool -p" was not blinking the LEDs on boards
with 1G BaseT PHYs.

This commit identifies 1G BaseT boards as having the LEDs connected
to the MAC. Also, renamed the flag to be more descriptive of usage.
The flag is now I40E_FLAG_PHY_CONTROLS_LEDS.

i40e: Fix for ethtool Supported link modes

This patch fixes the problem where the ethtool Supported link
modes list backplane interfaces on X722 devices for 10GbE with
SFP+ and Cortina retimer. This patch fixes the problem by setting
and using a flag for this particular device since the backplane
interface is only between the internal PHY and the retimer and it
should not be seen by the user as they cannot use it.
Without this patch, the user wrongly thinks that backplane interfaces
are supported on their device when they actually are not.

i40e: fix panic on SPARC while changing num of desc

On SPARC, writel() should not be used to write directly to memory
address but only to memory mapped I/O address otherwise it causes
data access exception.

Commit 147e81ec75689 ("i40e: Test memory before ethtool alloc
succeeds") introduced a code that uses memory address to fake the HW
tail address and attempt to write to that address using writel()
causes kernel panic on SPARC. The issue is reproduced while changing
number of descriptors using ethtool.

This change resolves the panic by using HW read-only memory mapped
I/O register to fake HW tail address instead memory address.

i40e: avoid duplicate private flags definitions

Separate the global private flags and the regular private flags per
interface into two arrays. Future additions of private flags will not
need to be duplicated which may lead to buggy code. Also rename
"i40e_priv_flags_strings_gl" to "i40e_gl_priv_flags_strings" for
clarity, as it reads more naturally.

i40e: removed unreachable code

Removed some of unnecessary if statements and unreachable code found by
static code analysis tool.
The return value of i40e_vsi_control_rings(..., false) is always 0. So,
test for non-zero will never be true. The function has been split into
"int i40e_vsi_start_rings()" and "void i40e_vsi_stop_rings()" for better
understanding.
Similarly, the function i40e_vsi_kill_vlan() never fails. So, checking
for return value is also unnecessary. Function definition changed to void.
The i40e_loopback_test() function is not implemented. The function and
all references to loopback testing were removed.

i40e: Add common function for finding VSI by type

This patch adds a common method for finding a VSI by type. The main
motivation for doing this is that the Flow Director path actually had two
ways of handling this, one stopped on first match and one did not. This
patch makes it so that all callers of this function will get the same
approach for finding a VSI.

i40e: Clean up handling of msglevel flags and debug parameter

So the i40e driver had a really convoluted configuration for how to handle
the debug flags contained in msg_level. Part of the issue is that the
driver has its own 32 bit mask that it was using to track a separate set of
debug features. From what I can tell it was trying to use the upper 4 bits
to determine if the value was meant to represent a bit-mask or the numeric
value provided by debug level.

What this patch does is clean this up by compressing those 4 bits into bit
31, as a result we just have to perform a check against the value being
negative to determine if we are looking at a debug level (positive), or a
debug mask (negative). The debug level will populate the msg_level, and
the debug mask will populate the debug_mask in the hardware struct.

I added similar logic for ethtool. If the value being provided has bit 31
set we assume the value being provided is a debug mask, otherwise we assume
it is a msg_enable mask. For displaying we only provide the msg_enable,
and if debug_mask is in use we will print it to the dmesg log.

Lastly I removed the debugfs interface. It is redundant with what we
already have in ethtool and really doesn't belong anyway.

i40evf: support queue-specific settings for interrupt moderation

In commit a75e8005d506f3 ("i40e: queue-specific settings for interrupt
moderation") the i40e driver gained support for setting interrupt
moderation values per queue. This patch adds support for this feature
to the i40evf driver as well. In addition, a few changes are made to
the i40e implementation to add function header documentation comments,
as well.

This behaves in a similar fashion to the implementation in i40e. Thus,
requesting the moderation value when no queue is provided will report
queue 0 value, while setting the value without a queue will set all
queues at once.

i40e: cleanup ATR auto_disable_flags use

Some locations that disable ATR accidentally used the "full" disable by
disabling the flag in the standard flags field. This incorrectly forces
ATR off permanently instead of temporarily disabling it. In addition,
some code locations accidentally set the ATR flag enabled when they only
meant to clear the auto_disable_flags. This results in ignoring the
user's ethtool private flag settings.

Additionally, when disabling ATR via ethtool, we did not perform a flush
of the FD table. This results in the previously assigned ATR rules still
functioning which was not expected.

Cleanup all these areas so that automatic disable uses only the
auto_disable_flag. Fix the flush code so that we can trigger a flush
even when we've disabled ATR and SB support, as otherwise the flush
doesn't work. Fix ethtool setting to actually request a flush. Fix
NETIF_F_NTUPLE flag to only clear the auto_disable setting and not
enable the full feature.

i40e: fix setting user defined RSS hash key

Previously, when using ethtool to change the RSS hash key, ethtool would
report back saying the old key was still being used and no error was
reported. It was unclear whether it was being reported incorrectly or
being set incorrectly. Debugging revealed 'i40e_set_rxfh()' returned
zero immediately instead of setting the key because a user defined
indirection table is not supplied when changing the hash key.

This fix instead changes it such that if an indirection table is not
supplied, then a default one is created and the hash key is now
correctly set.

i40e: don't allow reduction of channels below active FD rules

If a driver is unable to maintain all current user supplied settings
from ethtool (or other sources), it is not ok for a user request to
succeed and silently trample over previous configuration.

To that end, if you change the number of channels, it must not be
allowed to reduce the number of channels (queues) below the current
flow director filter rules targets. In this case, return -EINVAL when
a request to reduce the number of channels would do so. In addition
log a warning to the kernel buffer explaining why we failed, and report
the rules which prevent us from lowering the number of channels.

Previously we were only looking at the FW supported PHY types if link
was down, because we want to be more specific when link is up. This
refactor changes this. When link is down, we still rely on the FW
supported PHY types, but when link is up, we select the possible
supported link modes from what we know about the current PHY type, and
AND that with the FW supported PHY types.

i40e: Add vf-true-promisc-support priv flag

This patch adds priv-flag knob to configure global true promisc
support. With this patch the user can decide the flavor of
promiscuous that the VFs will see when promiscuous mode is enabled
on the interface. Since this a global setting for the whole device,
the priv-flag is exposed only on the first PF of the device.

The default is true promisc support is off, which means the promisc
mode for the VF will be limited/defport mode.

For the PF, we still will be in limited promisc unless in MFP mode
irrespective of the flavor picked through this knob.

Usage:
On PF0
ethtool --show-priv-flags p261p1
Private flags for p261p1:
MFP : off
LinkPolling : off
flow-director-atr : on
veb-stats : off
hw-atr-eviction : off

i40e: Add support for disabling all link and change bits needed for PHY interactions

Add flag to tell firmware to disable link on all ports.

This patch changes the bits set for telling firmware the PHY needs
to be modified by driver. Without this patch, the setting will only
set that mode for the current port on the device. Because the
MDIO interface is common for the copper device. The command needs to
set the mode for all ports.

i40e: Test memory before ethtool alloc succeeds

When testing on systems with very limited amounts of RAM, a bug was
found where, while changing the number of descriptors using ethtool,
the driver didn't test the limits of system memory before permanently
assuming it would be able to get receive buffer memory.

Work around this issue by pre-allocation of the receive buffer
memory, in the "ghost" ring, which is then used during reinit
using the new ring length.

i40e: Refactor receive routine

This is part 1 of the Rx refactor series, just including
changes to i40e.

This refactor aligns the receive routine with the one in
ixgbe which was highly optimized. This reduces the code
we have to maintain and allows for (hopefully) more readable
and maintainable RX hot path.

In order to do this:
- consolidate the receive path into a single function that doesn't
use packet split but *does* use pages for Rx buffers.
- remove the old _1buf routine
- consolidate several routines into helper functions
- remove ethtool control over packet split

i40e: call ndo_stop() instead of dev_close() when running offline selftest

Calling dev_close() causes IFF_UP to be cleared which will remove the
interfaces routes and some addresses. That's probably not what the user
intended when running the offline selftest. Besides this does not happen
if the interface is brought down before the test, so the current
behaviour is inconsistent.
Instead call the net_device_ops ndo_stop function directly and avoid
touching IFF_UP at all.

i40e: queue-specific settings for interrupt moderation

For i40e driver, each vector has its own ITR register. However, there
are no concept of queue-specific settings in the driver proper. Only
global variable is used to store ITR values. That will cause problems
especially when resetting the vector. The specific ITR values could be
lost.
This patch move rx_itr_setting and tx_itr_setting to i40e_ring to store
specific ITR register for each queue.
i40e_get_coalesce and i40e_set_coalesce are also modified accordingly to
support queue-specific settings. To make it compatible with old ethtool,
if user doesn't specify the queue number, i40e_get_coalesce will return
queue 0's value. While i40e_set_coalesce will apply value to all queues.

i40e: Use the new rx ctl register helpers. Don't use AQ calls from clear_hw.

Use the new AdminQ functions for safely accessing the Rx control
registers that may be affected by heavy small packet traffic.

We can't use AdminQ calls in i40e_clear_hw() because the HW is being
initialized and the AdminQ is not alive. We recently added an AQ
related replacement for reading PFLAN_QALLOC, and this patch puts
back the original register read.

i40e: Fix led blink capability for 10GBaseT PHY

This patch fixes a problem where the ethtool identify adapter
functionality did not work for some copper PHY's. Without this
patch, the blink led functionality fails on some parts. This
patch adds PHY write code to blink led's on parts where this
functionality is contained in the PHY rather than the MAC.

i40e: Add a SW workaround for lost interrupts

This patch adds a workaround for cases where we might have
interrupts that got lost but WB happened.
If that happens without this patch we will see a tx_timeout.
To work around it, this patch goes ahead and reschedules NAPI
in that situation, if NAPI is not already scheduled.
We also add a counter in ethtool to keep track of when
we detect a case of tx_lost_interrupt.

Note: napi_reschedule() can be safely called from process/service_task
context and is done in other drivers as well without an issue.

i40e: add counter for arq overflows

Sometimes, ARQ overflows are a big deal and tell us that the
firmware/hardware/driver/something is having problems. But normally
they're no big deal. To assist in assessing this, add a counter to
our Ethtool stats. A handful of ARQ overflows during VF init is no
problem. A large, ever-growing number indicates that Something Bad is
happening.

i40e/i40evf: Fix RSS rx-flow-hash configuration through ethtool

This patch fixes the Hash PCTYPE enable for X722 since it supports
a broader selection of PCTYPES for TCP and UDP.

This patch also fixes a bug in XL710, X710, X722 support for RSS,
as of now we cannot reduce the (4)tuple for RSS for TCP/IPv4/IPV6 or
UDP/IPv4/IPv6 packets since this requires a product feature change
that comes in a later release.

A VF should never be allowed to change the tuples for RSS for any
PCTYPE since that's a global setting for the device in case of i40e
devices.

i40e: use priv flags to control packet split

Ethtool priv flags implementation to enable or disable packet split, which
is a hardware feature that inspects headers and will put headers in a
separate DMA buffer from the payload data. The driver was automatically
choosing to enable packet split in some cases and this gives the user the
ability to turn it off/on explicitly.

to query state:
ethtool --show-priv-flags ethx

to enable:
ethtool --set-priv-flags ethx packet-split on
to disable:
ethtool --set-priv-flags ethx packet-split off

Why would anyone want this?
Because some environments benefit from header/data split in the receive
buffer, and the driver defaults to one or the other depending on
environment/kernel parameters.

Why didn't you implement a generic ethtool control for this feature?
Because Intel hardware is the only hardware that supports header/data
split.

i40e/i40evf: Add a stat to track how many times we have to do a force WB

When in NAPI with interrupts disabled, the HW needs to be forced to do a
write back on TX if the number of descriptors pending are less than a
cache line.

This stat helps keep track of how many times we get into this situation.

i40e/i40evf: moderate interrupts differently

The XL710 hardware has a different interrupt moderation design
that can support a limit of total interrupts per second per
vector, in addition to the "number of interrupts per second"
controls already established in the driver. This combination
of hardware features allows us to set very low default latency
settings but minimize the total CPU utilization by not
making too many interrupts, should the user desire.

The current driver implementation is still enabling the dynamic
moderation in the driver, and only using the rx/tx-usecs
limit in ethtool to limit the interrupt rate per second, by default.

The new code implemented in this patch
2) adds init/use of the new "Interrupt Limit" register
3) adds ethtool knob to control/report the limits above

Usage is ethtool -C ethx rx-usecs-high <value> Where <value> is number
of microseconds to create a rate of 1/N interrupts per second,
regardless of rx-usecs or tx-usecs values. Since there is a credit based
scheme in the hardware, the rx-usecs and tx-usecs can be configured for
very low latency for short bursts, but once the credit runs out the
refill rate on the credits is limited by rx-usecs-high.

i40e: remove read/write failed messages from nvmupdate

Allow the nvmupdate application to decide when a read or write error
should be exposed to the user. Since the application needs to use
write probes to find the ReadOnly sections on a potentially unknown NVM
version in the HW and read probes to check the status of the last write,
some error messages are expected, but need not be shown to the users.
The driver doesn't know which are ignorable from real errors, so needs
to let the application make the decision.

i40e/i40evf: Refactor PHY structure and add phy_capabilities enum

Remove unused members in the PHY structure and add a new member to store
all the capabilities the PHY has as reported by the FW. This information
will help us determine what speeds the device is capable of when link is
down.

Also add an enum to decode the PHY types the NVM is capable of.
Use the phy_types variable to determine what phy types are possible
when link is down instead of device id as it will be more accurate.

When on a backplane device, we do not support changing any settings,
however we should display all the phy_types we are capable of so if we
see a backplane dev ID set supported and advertised purely based on
the phy_types variable.

i40e/i40evf: Add module_types and update_link_info

Add a module_types variable to the link_info struct to save the module
information from get_phy_capabilities. This information can be used to
determine which speeds the module supports.

Also add a new function update_link_info which updates the module_types
parameter and then calls get_link_info. This function should be called
in place of get_link_info so that the module_types variable stays
up-to-date with the rest of the link information.

The EAS table does not reflect the values that are actually returned,
so instead, basing these values on the Ethernet compliance codes
specified in table 33 of SFF-8436 as these have been accurate.

Use the new variable in ethtool to differentiate between a 10G/1G dual
speed fiber module and a 10G only module.

i40e: add switch for link polling

There's been some need for controlling the periodic link polling for
debugging link issues. This patch enables switching it off and on
through an ethtool private flag. The link poll remains on by default,
but can be turned off with
ethtool --set-priv-flags p261p1 LinkPolling off
and later turned back on with
ethtool --set-priv-flags p261p1 LinkPolling on

To check the current status, use
ethtool --show-priv-flags p261p1

i40e: fix erroneous WARN_ON

The driver was issuing a WARN_ON during ring size changes
because the code was cloning the rx_ring struct but
not zeroing out the pointers before allocating new memory.

Zero out the pointers in the cloned copy before allocating
new memory for them. In this case the code was correctly
avoiding memory leaks but still triggering the warning.

i40e/i40evf: Add a stat to keep track of linearization count

Keep track of how many times we ask the stack to linearize the
skb because the HW cannot handle skbs with more than 8 frags per
segment/single packet.

i40e: fix bug in return from get_link_status and avoid spurious link messages

Previously, the driver could call this function and have only true/false
returned, but false could mean multiple things like failure to read
or link was down. This change allows the caller to get all return values
in the call chain bubbled back to the source, which keeps information about
failures from being lost.

Also, in some unlikely scenarios, the firmware can become slow to respond
to admin queue (AQ) queries for link state. Should the AQ time out,
the driver can detect the state and avoid a link change when there
may have been none.
