mtd: Explicitly include correct DT includes The DT of_device.h and of_platform.h date back to the separate of_platform_bus_type before it was merged into the regular platform bus. As part of that merge prepping Arm DT support 13 years ago, they "temporarily" include each other. They also include platform_device.h and of.h. As a result, there's a pretty much random mix of those include files used throughout the tree. In order to detangle these headers and replace the implicit includes with struct declarations, users need to explicitly include the correct includes. mtd: nand: Convert to platform remove callback returning void The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by returning an error code. However the value returned is (mostly) ignored and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new() which already returns void. Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove callback to the void returning variant. mtd: rawnand: davinci: Avoid duplicated page read The function nand_davinci_read_page_hwecc_oob_first() first reads the OOB data, extracts the ECC information, programs the ECC hardware before reading the actual data in a loop. Right after the OOB data was read, it called nand_read_page_op() to reset the read cursor to the beginning of the page. This caused the first page to be read twice: in that call, and later in the loop. Address that issue by changing the call to nand_read_page_op() to nand_change_read_column_op(), which will only reset the read cursor. mtd: rawnand: davinci: Move the ECC initialization to ->attach_chip() The probe function is only supposed to initialize the controller hardware but not the ECC engine. Indeed, we don't know anything about the NAND chip(s) at this stage. Let's move the logic initializing the ECC engine, even pretty simple, to the ->attach_chip() hook which gets called during nand_scan() routine, after the NAND chip discovery. As the previously mentioned logic is supposed to parse the DT for us, it is likely that the chip->ecc.* entries be overwritten. So let's avoid this by moving these lines to ->attach_chip(). mtd: rawnand: Drop OOB_FIRST placement scheme This scheme has been introduced for the Davinci controller and means that the OOB area must be read *before* the rest of the data. This has nothing to do with the ECC in OOB placement as it could be understood and most importantly, there is no point in having this function out of the Davinci NAND controller driver. A DT property for this scheme has been added but never used, even by the Davinci driver which only uses this scheme to change the default nand_read_page(). Move the main read_page() helper into the Davinci driver and remove the remaining boilerplate. Implement these hooks so that we can convert the driver to just use nand_scan() instead of the nand_scan_ident() + nand_scan_tail() pair. Also change the unused "struct device *dev" parameter of the driver structure into a platform device to reuse it in the ->attach_chip() hook. mtd: rawnand: davinci: Stop doing iomem pointer <-> u32 conversions There is no point in doing this sort of conversion since we can replace |= by += operations which are perfectly valid on pointers. This is done in preparation of COMPILE_TEST addition to the NAND_DAVINCI Kconfig entry, since building for x86 generates several warnings because of inappropriate u32 <-> void * conversions (pointers are 64-bit large on x86_64). mtd: rawnand: davinci: don't acquire and enable clock NAND itself is an asynchronous interface, it does not have any clock input. DaVinci NAND driver acquires clock for AEMIF (asynchronous external memory interface) which is an on-chip IP to which NAND is connected. The same clock is also enabled in AEMIF driver (either present drivers/memory or from machine code for some older platforms). AEMIF timing must be initialized before NAND can be accessed. This ensures that AEMIF clock is enabled too. Remove the superfluous clock acquisition and enable in DaVinci NAND driver. Tested on K2L, K2HK, K2E, DA850 EVM, DA850 LCDK in device-tree boot and DM644x EVM in legacy boot.
