drm/i915: Check for integer truncation on scatterlist creation There is an impedance mismatch between the scatterlist API using unsigned int and our memory/page accounting in unsigned long. That is we may try to create a scatterlist for a large object that overflows returning a small table into which we try to fit very many pages. As the object size is under the control of userspace, we have to be prudent and catch the conversion errors. To catch the implicit truncation we check before calling scattterlist creation Apis. we use overflows_type check and report E2BIG if the overflows may raise. When caller does not return errno, use WARN_ON to report a problem. This is already used in our create ioctls to indicate if the uABI request is simply too large for the backing store. Failing that type check, we have a second check at sg_alloc_table time to make sure the values we are passing into the scatterlist API are not truncated. v2: Move added i915_utils's macro into drm_util header (Jani N) v5: Fix macros to be enclosed in parentheses for complex values Fix too long line warning v8: Replace safe_conversion() with check_assign() (Kees) v14: Remove shadowing macros of scatterlist creation api and fix to explicitly overflow check where the scatterlist creation APIs are called. (Jani) v15: Add missing returning of error code when the WARN_ON() has been detected. drm/i915: use i915_sg_dma_sizes() for all backends We rely on page_sizes.sg in setup_scratch_page() reporting the correct value if the underlying sgl is not contiguous, however in get_pages_internal() we are only looking at the layout of the created pages when calculating the sg_page_sizes, and not the final sgl, which could in theory be completely different. In such a situation we might incorrectly think we have a 64K scratch page, when it is actually only 4K or similar split over multiple non-contiguous entries, which could lead to broken behaviour when touching the scratch space within the padding of a 64K GTT page-table. For most of the other backends we already just call i915_sg_dma_sizes() on the final mapping, so rather just move that into __i915_gem_object_set_pages() to avoid such issues coming back to bite us later. v2: Update missing conversion in gvt Suggested-by: Tvrtko Ursulin <tvrtko.ursulin@linux.intel.com> Signed-off-by: Matthew Auld <matthew.auld@intel.com> Cc: Stuart Summers <stuart.summers@intel.com> Cc: Andrzej Hajda <andrzej.hajda@intel.com> Reviewed-by: Tvrtko Ursulin <tvrtko.ursulin@linux.intel.com> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20221108103238.165447-1-matthew.auld@intel.com

drm/i915: Only include i915_reg.h from .c files Several of our i915 header files, have been including i915_reg.h. This means that any change to i915_reg.h will trigger a full rebuild of pretty much every file of the driver, even those that don't have any kind of register access. Let's delete the i915_reg.h include from all headers and add an explicit include from the .c files that truly need the register definitions; those that need a definition of i915_reg_t for a function definition can get it from i915_reg_defs.h instead. We also remove two non-register #define's (VLV_DISPLAY_BASE and GEN12_SFC_DONE_MAX) into i915_reg_defs.h to allow us to drop the i915_reg.h include from a couple of headers. There's probably a lot more header dependency optimization possible, but the changes here roughly cut the number of files compiled after 'touch i915_reg.h' in half --- a good first step. drm/i915/gvt: Fix drm_format_mod value for vGPU plane Physical plane's tiling mode value is given directly as drm_format_mod for plane query, which is not correct fourcc code. Fix it by using correct intel tiling fourcc mod definition. Current qemu seems also doesn't correctly utilize drm_format_mod for plane object setting. drm/i915/gvt: Keep obj->dma_buf link NULL during exporting According to commit (319c933c71f3dbdb2b3274d1634d3494c70efa06) Author: Daniel Vetter <daniel.vetter@ffwll.ch> Date: Thu Aug 15 00:02:46 2013 +0200 drm/prime: proper locking+refcounting for obj->dma_buf link obj->dma_buf link should be reinstated at import time. Gvt-g dma-buf buffer exposeing might be simpler, as there won't be much racing during Gvt-g dma-buf exposing. In other words, Gvt-g dma-buf exposing can guarantee exposing happens before gem close ioctl, and Gvt-g is the only exporter of the guest framebuffer. But following the drm prime scheme can give Gvt-g a chance to increase a dma-buf reference count during importing. Otherwise, we have to increase the reference during exposing, which will break the case that the only reference userspace has held was through the dma-buf fd and the reference count is one. With this sharing mechanism, guest's framebuffer can be shared between guest VM and host. v17: - modify VFIO_DEVICE_GET_GFX_DMABUF interface. (Alex) v16: - add x_hot and y_hot. (Gerd) - add flag validation for VFIO_DEVICE_GET_GFX_DMABUF. (Alex) - rebase 4.14.0-rc6. v15: - add VFIO_DEVICE_GET_GFX_DMABUF ABI. (Gerd) - add intel_vgpu_dmabuf_cleanup() to clean up the vGPU's dmabuf. (Gerd) v14: - add PROBE, DMABUF and REGION flags. (Alex) v12: - refine the lifecycle of dmabuf. v9: - remove dma-buf management. (Alex) - track the dma-buf create and release in kernel mode. (Gerd) (Daniel) v8: - refine the dma-buf ioctl definition.(Alex) - add a lock to protect the dmabuf list. (Alex) v7: - release dma-buf related allocations in dma-buf's associated release function. (Alex) - refine ioctl interface for querying plane info or create dma-buf. (Alex) v6: - align the dma-buf life cycle with the vfio device. (Alex) - add the dma-buf related operations in a separate patch. (Gerd) - i915 related changes. (Chris) v5: - fix bug while checking whether the gem obj is gvt's dma-buf when user change caching mode or domains. Add a helper function to do it. (Xiaoguang) - add definition for the query plane and create dma-buf. (Xiaoguang) v4: - fix bug while checking whether the gem obj is gvt's dma-buf when set caching mode or doamins. (Xiaoguang) v3: - declare a new flag I915_GEM_OBJECT_IS_GVT_DMABUF in drm_i915_gem_object to represent the gem obj for gvt's dma-buf. The tiling mode, caching mode and domains can not be changed for this kind of gem object. (Alex) - change dma-buf related information to be more generic. So other vendor can use the same interface. (Alex) v2: - create a management fd for dma-buf operations. (Alex) - alloc gem object's backing storage in gem obj's get_pages() callback.
