drm/amd/display: Generalize new minimal transition path Previously the new minimal transition path was only used for windowed MPO + ODM for plane scaling updates. However, we want to generalize the transition for all cases whenever a non-seamless transition is detected (such as for MPO -> SubVP + MPC). To make this change we add pointers in the plane state, stream, and pointers in the stream state to the dc_scratch state and backup and restore these so the minimal transition can take place successfully. drm/amd/display: Add left edge pixel for YCbCr422/420 + ODM pipe split [Why] Currently 3-tap chroma subsampling is used for YCbCr422/420. When ODM pipesplit is used, pixels on the left edge of ODM slices need one extra pixel from the right edge of the previous slice to calculate the correct chroma value. Without this change, the chroma value is slightly different than expected. This is usually imperceptible visually, but it impacts test pattern CRCs for compliance test automation. drm/amd/display: Add structs for Freesync Panel Replay In some instances, the GPU is transmitting repeated frame to the sink without any updates or changes in the content. These repeat transmission are wasteful, resulting in power draw in different aspects of the system 1. DCN is fetching the frame of data from DF/UMC/DRAM. This memory traffic prevents power down of parts of this HW path. 2. GPU is transmitting pixel data to the display through the main link of the DisplayPort interface. This prevents power down of both the Source transmitter (TX) and the Sink receiver (RX) The concepts of utilizing replay is similar to PSR, but there is a benefit of: Source and Sink remaining synchronized which allows for - lower latency when switching from replay to live frames - enable the possibility of more use cases - easy control of the sink's refresh rate during replay Due to Source and Sink remaining timing synchronized, Replay can be activated in more UI scenarios. drm/amd/display: Fix lag when moving windowed MPO across display using ODM 2:1 combine [Why] With single display odm 2:1 policy, when moving windowed MPO across the display, we experience a momentary lag when we move between the centre of the display and the right half of the display. This is caused by the MPO pipe being reallocated when it crosses this boundary [How] Handle two cases: 1. if the head pipe has a MPO pipe already allocated in the old context, then use that pipe if it is available in the current context 2. if the head pipe is on the left side, check the right side to see if it has a MPO pipe already allocated. If so, don't use that pipe if it is selected as the idle pipe in the current context Add new function pointer called .acquire_idle_pipe_for_head_pipe that will pass in the head pipe and handle case 1 Add find_idle_secondary_pipe_check_mpo() to handle case 2 if we don't hit case 1. In dc_add_plane_to_context(), start with head pipe and check case 1 and 2 in call acquire_free_pipe_for_head(). If we are on the right side of the display, check case 1 again by passing in right side pipe as the new head in call acquire_free_pipe_for_head(). drm/amd/display: make enable link independent from verified link caps [why] Ideally link capability should be independent from the link configuration that we decide to use in enable link. Otherwise if link capability is changed after validation has completed, we could end up enabling a link configuration with invalid configuration. This would lead to over link bandwidth subscription or in the extreme case causes us to enable HPO link to a DIO stream. [how] Add a new struct in pipe ctx called link config. This structure will contain link configuration to enable a link. It will be populated during map pool resources after we validate link bandwidth. drm/amd/display: define link res and make it accessible to all link interfaces [why] There will be a series of re-arch changes in Link Resource Management. They are more and more muxable link resource objects and the resource is insufficient for a one to one allocation to all links created. Therefore a link resource sharing logic is required to determine which link should use certain link resource. This commit is the first one in this series that starts by defining a link resource struct, this struct will be available to all interfaces that need to perform link programming sequence. In later commits, we will granduately decouple link resource objects out of dc link. So instead of access a link resource from dc link. Current link's resource can be accessible through pipe_ctx->link_res during commit, or by calling dc_link_get_cur_link_res function with current link passed in after commit. drm/amd/display: Fix dynamic encoder reassignment [Why] Incorrect encoder assignments were being used while applying a new state to hardware. (1) When committing a new state to hardware requires resetting the back-end, the encoder assignments of the current or old state should be used when disabling the back-end; and the encoder assignments for the next or new state should be used when re-enabling the back-end. (2) Link training on hot plug could take over an encoder already in use by another stream without first disabling it. [How] (1) Introduce a resource context 'link_enc_cfg_context' which includes: - a mode to indicate when transitioning from current to next state. - transient encoder assignments to use during this state transition. Update the encoder configuration interface to respond to queries about encoder assignment based on the mode of operation. drm/amd/display: fixup DPP programming sequence [why] DC does not correct account for the fact that DPP DTO is double buffered while DPP ref is not. This means that when DPP ref clock is lowered when it's "safe to lower", the DPP blocks that need an increased divider will temporarily have actual DPP clock drop below minimum while DTO double buffering takes effect. This results in temporary underflow. [how] To fix this, DPP clock cannot be programmed atomically, but rather be broken up into the DTO and the ref. Each has a separate "safe to lower" logic. When doing "prepare" the ref and dividers may only increase. When doing "optimize", both may decrease. It is guaranteed that we won't exceed max DPP clock because we do not use dividers larger than 1. drm/amd/display: Per stream validate_context build v2. Until now new context would start as empty, then populated with exsisting pipes + new. Now we start with duplication of existing context and then add/delete from the context pipes as needed. This allows to do a per stream resource population, start discarding dc_validation_set and by this brings DC closer to to DRM. v2: Add some fixes and rebase.
