ata: ahci: Drop low power policy board type

The low power policy board type was introduced to allow systems
to get into deep states reliably. Before it was introduced `min_power`
was causing problems for a number of drives. New power policies
`min_power_with_partial` and `med_power_with_dipm` have been introduced
which provide a more stable baseline for systems.

ahci: qoriq: Add platform dependencies

The Freescale QorIQ AHCI SATA controller is only present on Freescale
Layerscape SoCs. Add platform dependencies to the AHCI_QORIQ config

ata: pata_parport: add driver (PARIDE replacement)

The pata_parport is a libata-based replacement of the old PARIDE
subsystem - driver for parallel port IDE devices.
It uses the original paride low-level protocol drivers but does not
need the high-level drivers (pd, pcd, pf, pt, pg). The IDE devices
behind parallel port adapters are handled by the ATA layer.

This will allow paride and its high-level drivers to be removed.

Unfortunately, libata drivers cannot sleep so pata_parport claims
parport before activating the ata host and keeps it claimed (and
protocol connected) until the ata host is removed. This means that
no devices can be chained (neither other pata_parport devices nor
a printer).

paride and pata_parport are mutually exclusive because the compiled
protocol drivers are incompatible.

Tested with:
- Imation SuperDisk LS-120 and HP C4381A (EPAT)
- Freecom Parallel CD (FRPW)
- Toshiba Mobile CD-RW 2793008 w/Freecom Parallel Cable rev.903 (FRIQ)
- Backpack CD-RW 222011 and CD-RW 19350 (BPCK6)

The following bugs in low-level protocol drivers were found and will
be fixed later:

Note: EPP-32 mode is buggy in EPAT - and also in all other protocol
drivers - they don't handle non-multiple-of-4 block transfers
correctly. This causes problems with LS-120 drive.
There is also another bug in EPAT: EPP modes don't work unless a 4-bit
or 8-bit mode is used first (probably some initialization missing?).
Once the device is initialized, EPP works until power cycle.

So after device power on, you have to:

echo pata_parport.0 >/sys/bus/pata_parport/delete_device
echo "parport0 epat 4" >/sys/bus/pata_parport/new_device
(autoprobe will initialize correctly as it tries the slowest modes
first but you'll get the broken EPP-32 mode)

Note: EPP modes are buggy in FRPW, only modes 0 and 1 work.

ata: remove palmld pata driver

The PXA palmld machine was removed, so the pata driver is no
longer used and can be removed. There is a chance that some of
this code might be useful for turning some of the other PXA
PCMCIA host drivers into PATA drivers, but it's clear that
it would not work unmodified, and it seems unlikely that
someone would do this work.

If CONFIG_OF is disabled, then using the macro of_match_ptr() results
in the gemini_sata_of_match variable being unused, which generates a
compilation warning and a compilation error if CONFIG_WERROR is enabled.

Removing the use of this macro by directly assigning the
gemini_sata_of_match match table to the .of_match_table field in the
platform driver definition allows removing the dependency on OF for
compile tests, thus improving compile test coverage.

ata: ahci-dwc: Add Baikal-T1 AHCI SATA interface support

It's almost fully compatible DWC AHCI SATA IP-core derivative except the
reference clocks source, which need to be very carefully selected. In
particular the DWC AHCI SATA PHY can be clocked either from the pads
ref_pad_clk_{m,p} or from the internal wires ref_alt_clk_{m,n}. In the
later case the clock signal is generated from the Baikal-T1 CCU SATA PLL.
The clocks source is selected by means of the ref_use_pad wire connected
to the CCU SATA reference clock CSR.

In normal situation it would be much more handy to use the internal
reference clock source, but alas we haven't managed to make the AHCI
controller working well with it so far. So it's preferable to have the
controller clocked from the external clock generator and fallback to the
internal clock source only as a last resort. Other than that the
controller is full compatible with the DWC AHCI SATA IP-core.

ata: ahci: Add DWC AHCI SATA controller support

Synopsys AHCI SATA controller can work pretty under with the generic
AHCI-platform driver control. But there are vendor-specific peculiarities
which can tune the device performance up and which may need to be fixed up
for proper device functioning. In addition some DWC AHCI-based controllers
may require small platform-specific fixups, so adding them in the generic
AHCI driver would have ruined the code simplicity. Shortly speaking in
order to keep the generic AHCI-platform code clean and have DWC AHCI
SATA-specific features supported we suggest to add a dedicated DWC AHCI
SATA device driver. Aside with the standard AHCI-platform resources
getting, enabling/disabling and the controller registration the new driver
performs the next actions.

First of all there is a way to verify whether the HBA/ports capabilities
activated in OF are correct. Almost all features availability is reflected
in the vendor-specific parameters registers. So the DWC AHCI driver does
the capabilities sanity check based on the corresponding fields state.

Secondly if either the Command Completion Coalescing or the Device Sleep
feature is enabled the DWC AHCI-specific internal 1ms timer must be fixed
in accordance with the application clock signal frequency. In particular
the timer value must be set to be Fapp * 1000. Normally the SoC designers
pre-configure the TIMER1MS register to contain a correct value by default.
But the platforms can support the application clock rate change. If that
happens the 1ms timer value must be accordingly updated otherwise the
dependent features won't work as expected. In the DWC AHCI driver we
suggest to rely on the "aclk" reference clock rate to set the timer
interval up. That clock source is supposed to be the AHCI SATA application
clock in accordance with the DT bindings.

Finally DWC AHCI SATA controller AXI/AHB bus DMA-engine can be tuned up to
transfer up to 1024 * FIFO words at a time by setting the Tx/Rx
transaction size in the DMA control register. The maximum value depends on
the DMA data bus and AXI/AHB bus maximum burst length. In most of the
cases it's better to set the maximum possible value to reach the best AHCI
SATA controller performance. But sometimes in order to improve the system
interconnect responsiveness, transferring in smaller data chunks may be
more preferable. For such cases and for the case when the default value
doesn't provide the best DMA bus performance we suggest to use the new
HBA-port specific DT-properties "snps,{tx,rx}-ts-max" to tune the DMA
transactions size up.

After all the settings denoted above are handled the DWC AHCI SATA driver
proceeds further with the standard AHCI-platform host initializations.

Note since DWC AHCI controller is now have a dedicated driver we can
discard the corresponding compatible string from the ahci-platform.c
module. The same concerns "snps,spear-ahci" compatible string, which is
also based on the DWC AHCI IP-core.

ata: make PATA_PLATFORM selectable only for suitable architectures

It is currently possible to select "Generic platform device PATA support"
in two situations:

- architecture allows the generic platform device PATA support and
indicates that with "select HAVE_PATA_PLATFORM".
- if the user claims to be an EXPERT by setting CONFIG_EXPERT to yes

However, there is no use case to have Generic platform device PATA support
in a kernel build if the architecture definition, i.e., the selection of
configs by an architecture, does not support it.

If the architecture definition is wrong, i.e., it just misses a 'select
HAVE_PATA_PLATFORM', then even an expert that configures the kernel build
should not just fix that by overruling the claimed support by an
architecture. If the architecture definition is wrong, the expert should
just provide a patch to correct the architecture definition instead---in
the end, if the user is an expert, sending a quick one-line patch should
not be an issue.

In other words, I do not see the deeper why an expert can overrule the
architecture definition in this case, as the expert may not overrule the
config selections defined by the architecture in the large majority
---or probably all other (modulo some mistakes)---of similar cases.

ata: clean up how architectures enable PATA_PLATFORM and PATA_OF_PLATFORM

There are two options for platform device PATA support:

PATA_PLATFORM: Generic platform device PATA support
PATA_OF_PLATFORM: OpenFirmware platform device PATA support

If an architecture allows the generic platform device PATA support, it
shall select HAVE_PATA_PLATFORM. Then, Generic platform device PATA support
is available and can be selected.

If an architecture has OpenFirmware support, which it indicates by
selecting OF, OpenFirmware platform device PATA support is available
and can be selected.
If OpenFirmware platform device PATA support is selected, then the
functionality (code files) from Generic platform device PATA support needs
to be integrated in the kernel build for the OpenFirmware platform device
PATA support to work. Select PATA_PLATFORM in PATA_OF_PLATFORM to make sure
the needed files are added in the build.

So, architectures with OpenFirmware support, do not need to additionally
select HAVE_PATA_PLATFORM. It is only needed by architecture that want the
non-OF pata-platform module.

Reflect this way of intended use of config symbols in the ata Kconfig and
adjust all architecture definitions.

m68k/q40: Replace q40ide driver with pata_falcon and falconide

This allows m68k q40 systems to switch from the deprecated IDE subsystem
to libata.

Enhance the byte-swapping falconide and pata_falcon platform drivers to
accept an irq resource, for use on q40. Atari ST-DMA IRQ arrangements seem
to co-exist with q40 IRQ arrangements without too much mess.

decreasing, but there are still more than 2400 instances.

This commit finishes the conversion. While I touched the lines,

ata: make SATA_PMP option selectable only if any SATA host driver is enabled

There is no reason to expose SATA_PMP config option when no SATA
host drivers are enabled. To fix it add SATA_HOST config option,
make all SATA host drivers select it and finally make SATA_PMP
config options depend on it.

This also serves as preparation for the future changes which
optimize libata core code size on PATA only setups.

'default n' is the default value for any bool or tristate Kconfig
setting so there is no need to write it explicitly.

Also since commit f467c5640c29 ("kconfig: only write '# CONFIG_FOO
is not set' for visible symbols") the Kconfig behavior is the same
regardless of 'default n' being present or not:

One side effect of (and the main motivation for) this change is making
the following two definitions behave exactly the same:

config FOO
bool

config FOO
bool
default n

With this change, neither of these will generate a
'# CONFIG_FOO is not set' line (assuming FOO isn't selected/implied).
That might make it clearer to people that a bare 'default n' is
redundant.

ata: Remove depends on HAS_DMA in case of platform dependency

Remove dependencies on HAS_DMA where a Kconfig symbol depends on another
symbol that implies HAS_DMA, and, optionally, on "|| COMPILE_TEST".
In most cases this other symbol is an architecture or platform specific
symbol, or PCI.

Generic symbols and drivers without platform dependencies keep their
dependencies on HAS_DMA, to prevent compiling subsystems or drivers that
cannot work anyway.

This simplifies the dependencies, and allows to improve compile-testing.

ahci: Allow setting a default LPM policy for mobile chipsets

On many laptops setting a different LPM policy then unknown /
max_performance can lead to power-savings of 1.0 - 1.5 Watts (when idle).

Modern ultrabooks idle around 6W (at 50% screen brightness), 1.0 - 1.5W
is a significant chunk of this.

There are some performance / latency costs to enabling LPM by default,
so it is desirable to make it possible to set a different LPM policy
for mobile / laptop variants of chipsets / "South Bridges" vs their
desktop / server counterparts. Also enabling LPM by default is not
entirely without risk of regressions. At least min_power is known to
cause issues with some disks, including some reports of data corruption.

This commits adds a new ahci.mobile_lpm_policy kernel cmdline option,
which defaults to a new SATA_MOBILE_LPM_POLICY Kconfig option so that
Linux distributions can choose to set a LPM policy for mobile chipsets
by default.

The reason to have both a kernel cmdline option and a Kconfig default
value for it, is to allow easy overriding of the default to allow
trouble-shooting without needing to rebuild the kernel.

License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no license

Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which
makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license.

By default all files without license information are under the default
license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2.

Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0'
SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding
shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text.

This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and
Philippe Ombredanne.

How this work was done:

Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of
the use cases:
- file had no licensing information it it.
- file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it,
- file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information,

Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases
where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license
had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords.

The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to
a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the
output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX
tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the
base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files.

The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files
assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner
results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s)
to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not
immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was:
- Files considered eligible had to be source code files.
- Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5
lines of source
- File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5
lines).

All documentation files were explicitly excluded.

The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license
identifiers to apply.

- when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was
considered to have no license information in it, and the top level
COPYING file license applied.

For non */uapi/* files that summary was:

- when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became
the concluded license(s).

- when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a
license but the other didn't, or they both detected different
licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred.

- In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file
resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and
which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics).

- When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was
confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

- If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier,
the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later
in time.

In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the
spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the
source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation
by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from
FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners
disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The
Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so
they are related.

Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets
for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the
files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks
in about 15000 files.

In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have
copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the
correct identifier.

Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual
inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch
version early this week with:
- a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected
license ids and scores
- reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+
files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct
- reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license
was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied
SPDX license was correct

This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This
worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the
different types of files to be modified.

These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to
parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the
format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg
based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to
distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different
comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to
generate the patches.

ata: Add driver for Faraday Technology FTIDE010

This adds a driver for the Faraday Technology FTIDE010
PATA IP block.

When used with the Storlink/Storm/Cortina Systems Gemini
SoC, the PATA interface is accompanied by a PATA<->SATA
bridge, so while the device appear as a PATA controller,
it attaches physically to SATA disks, and also has a
designated memory area with registers to set up the bridge.

The Gemini SATA bridge is separated into its own driver
file to make things modular and make it possible to reuse
the PATA driver as stand-alone on other systems than the
Gemini.

ata: ahci: add support for DaVinci DM816 SATA controller

This SATA controller is quite similar to the one present on the DA850
SoC, but the PHY configuration is different and it supports two HBA
ports.

The IP suffers from the same PMP issue the DA850 does - if we enable
PMP but don't use it - softreset fails. Appropriate workaround was
implemented in this driver as well.

complex Kconfig expression to handle all cases.

there is no fallback to PIO mode when the DMA engine is not
usable.

ata: sata_dwc_460ex: use "dmas" DT property to find dma channel

Currently this driver only works with a DesignWare DMA engine which it
registers manually using the second "reg" address range and interrupt
number from the DT node.

This patch makes the driver instead use the "dmas" property if present,
otherwise optionally falling back on the old way so existing device
trees can continue to work.

With this change, there is no longer any reason to depend on the 460EX
machine type so drop that from Kconfig.

ata: add AMD Seattle platform driver

AMD Seattle SATA controller mostly conforms to AHCI interface with some
special register to control SGPIO interface. In the case of an AHCI
controller, the SGPIO feature is ideally implemented using the
"Enclosure Management" register of the AHCI controller, but those
registeres are not implemented in the Seattle SoC. Instead SoC
(Rev B0 onwards) provides a 32-bit SGPIO control register which should
be programmed to control the activity, locate and fault LEDs.

The driver is based on ahci_platform driver.

ahci: added a new driver for supporting Freescale AHCI sata

Currently Freescale QorIQ series SATA is supported by ahci_platform
driver. Some SoC specific settings have been put in uboot. So whether
SATA works or not heavily depends on uboot.
This patch will add a new driver to support QorIQ sata which removes
the dependency on any other boot loader.
Freescale QorIQ series sata, like ls1021a ls2085a ls1043a, is
compatible with serial ATA 3.0 and AHCI 1.3 specification.

Use syscon/regmap to configure the smc. This allows to avoid using
at91sam9_smc.h and to compile the driver in a multiplatform configuration.

The driver will still not probe until the proper DT bindings are added. That
binding will include an atmel,smc property that is a phandle to the SMC the CF
controller is connected to.

sata_dwc_460ex: disable COMPILE_TEST again

Commit 84683a7e081f ("sata_dwc_460ex: enable COMPILE_TEST for the
driver") enabled this driver for non-ppc460-ex platforms, but it was
then disabled for ARM and ARM64 by commit 2de5a9c004e9 ("sata_dwc_460ex:
disable compilation on ARM and ARM64") because it's too noisy and
broken.

This disabled is entirely, because it's too noisy on x86-64 too, and
there's no point in disabling architectures one by one. At a minimum,
the code isn't 64-bit clean, and even on 32-bit it is questionable
whether it makes sense.

PM / Kconfig: Replace PM_RUNTIME with PM in dependencies

After commit b2b49ccbdd54 (PM: Kconfig: Set PM_RUNTIME if PM_SLEEP is
selected) PM_RUNTIME is always set if PM is set, so Kconfig options
depending on CONFIG_PM_RUNTIME may now be changed to depend on
CONFIG_PM.

Replace PM_RUNTIME with PM in Kconfig dependencies throughout the
tree.

libata: make AHCI_XGENE depend on PHY_XGENE

AHCI_XGENE is only applicable on ARM64 but it can also be enabled for
compile testing; however, AHCI_XGENE selects PHY_XGENE which has other
arch specific dependencies. This leads to the following warning when
enabling it on other archs for compile testing.

dependencies (HAS_IOMEM && OF && (ARM64 || COMPILE_TEST))

Selecting a config option which itself has dependencies can easily
lead to broken configurations. For now, let's just make AHCI_XGENE

ata: Fix CS55xx dependencies

As far as I know, the CS5520 and CS5530 chipsets were only used with
32-bit x86 Geode processors, so I think their drivers are only needed
on this architecture, except for build testing purpose.

While we're here, simplify the dependencies for the CS5535 driver.

The CS5536 was used with the Geode processors, but also on MIPS
Loongson/Lemote 2 systems, so let its driver be built for these two
architectures only, except for build testing purpose.

ARM: sunxi: Add support for Allwinner SUNXi SoCs sata to ahci_platform

This patch adds support for the ahci sata controler found on Allwinner A10
and A20 SoCs to the ahci_platform driver.

Orignally written by Olliver Schinagl using the approach of having a platform
device which probe method creates a new child platform device which gets
driven by ahci_platform.c, as done by ahci_imx.c .

Refactored by Hans de Goede to add most of the non sunxi specific functionality
to ahci_platform.c and use a platform_data pointer from of_device_id for the
sunxi specific bits.

ahci_imx: add ahci sata support on imx platforms

imx6q contains one Synopsys AHCI SATA controller, But it can't share
ahci_platform driver with other controllers because there are some
misalignments of the generic AHCI controller - the bits definitions of
the HBA registers, the Vendor Specific registers, the AHCI PHY clock
and the AHCI signals adjustment window(GPR13 register).

- CAP_SSS(bit20) of the HOST_CAP is writable, default value is '0',
should be configured to be '1'

- bit0 (only one AHCI SATA port on imx6q) of the HOST_PORTS_IMPL
should be set to be '1'.(default 0)

- One Vendor Specific register HOST_TIMER1MS(offset:0xe0) should be
configured regarding to the frequency of AHB bus clock.

- Configurations of the AHCI PHY clock, and the signal parameters of
the GPR13

Setup its own ahci sata driver, contained the imx6q specific
initialized codes, re-use the generic ahci_platform driver, and keep
the generic ahci_platform driver clean as much as possible.

libata: make it clear that sata_inic162x is experimental

sata_inic162x never reached a state where it's reliable enough for
production use and data corruption is a relatively common occurrence.
Make the driver generate warning about the issues and mark the Kconfig
option as experimental.

If the situation doesn't improve, we'd be better off making it depend
on CONFIG_BROKEN. Let's wait for several cycles and see if the kernel
message draws any attention.

MIPS: OCTEON: Rename Kconfig CAVIUM_OCTEON_REFERENCE_BOARD to CAVIUM_OCTEON_SOC

CAVIUM_OCTEON_SOC most place we used to use CPU_CAVIUM_OCTEON. This
allows us to CPU_CAVIUM_OCTEON in places where we have no OCTEON SOC.

Remove CAVIUM_OCTEON_SIMULATOR as it doesn't really do anything, we can
get the same configuration with CAVIUM_OCTEON_SOC.

The motivation for this is to allow the driver to be
used with the r8a7790 SoC.

I believe that rather than adding another SoC to the list of allowed SoCs
it is better to simply remove the dependency of the driver on shmobile all
together.

libata: identify and init ZPODD devices

The ODD can be enabled for ZPODD if the following three conditions are
satisfied:
1 The ODD supports device attention;
2 The platform can runtime power off the ODD through ACPI;
3 The ODD is either slot type or drawer type.
For such ODDs, zpodd_init is called and a new structure is allocated for
it to store ZPODD related stuffs.

And the zpodd_dev_enabled function is used to test if ZPODD is currently
enabled for this ODD.

A new config CONFIG_SATA_ZPODD is added to selectively build ZPODD code.

ata: add platform driver for Calxeda AHCI controller

Calxeda highbank SATA phy has intermittent problems bringing up a link
with Gen3 drives. Retrying the phy hard reset can work-around this issue,
but each reset also disables spread spectrum support. The reset function
also needs to reprogram the phy to enable spread spectrum support.

Create a new driver based on ahci_platform to support the Calxeda Highbank
SATA controller.

I followed the advice to not use the deprecated old PATA subsystem

kconfig: rename CONFIG_EMBEDDED to CONFIG_EXPERT

The meaning of CONFIG_EMBEDDED has long since been obsoleted; the option
is used to configure any non-standard kernel with a much larger scope than
only small devices.

This patch renames the option to CONFIG_EXPERT in init/Kconfig and fixes
references to the option throughout the kernel. A new CONFIG_EMBEDDED
option is added that automatically selects CONFIG_EXPERT when enabled and
can be used in the future to isolate options that should only be
considered for embedded systems (RISC architectures, SLOB, etc).

Calling the option "EXPERT" more accurately represents its intention: only
expert users who understand the impact of the configuration changes they
are making should enable it.

pata_platform: Remove CONFIG_HAVE_PATA_PLATFORM's dependencies.

CONFIG_HAVE_PATA_PLATFORM, by virtue of where its defined, has a
dependency on CONFG_ATA and CONFIG_ATA_SFF. This causes Kconfig
warnings when it is selected by various architectures, such as

than adjust all the architectures.

pata_cs5536: Add support for non-X86_32 platforms

pata_cs5536 does work on the other platforms(e.g. Loongson, a MIPS
variant), so, remove the dependency of X86_32 and fix the building
errors under the other platforms via only reserving the X86_32 specific
parts for X86_32.

pata_amd also supports cs5536 IDE controller, but this one saves about
33k for the compressed kernel image(vmlinuz for MIPS).

libata-sff: make BMDMA optional

Make BMDMA optional depending on new config variable CONFIG_ATA_BMDMA.
In Kconfig, drivers are grouped into five groups - non-SFF native, SFF
w/ custom DMA interface, SFF w/ BMDMA, PIO-only SFF, and generic
fallback / legacy ones. Kconfig and Makefile are reorganized
according to the groups and ordered alphabetically inside each group.

ata_ioports.bmdma_addr and ata_port.bmdma_prd[_dma] are put into
CONFIG_ATA_BMDMA, as are all bmdma related ops, variables and
functions.

This increase the binary size slightly when BMDMA is enabled but on
both native-only and PIO-only configurations the size is slightly
reduced. Either way, the size difference is insignificant. This
change is more meaningful to signify the separation between SFF and
BMDMA and as a tool to verify the separation.

ACPI: do not select ACPI_DOCK from ATA_ACPI

In March 2008 commit 0ac4a3c2fbbcadc3e96e4dc47d4ae802d66e6f67 ("ACPI: fix
ATA_ACPI build") made CONFIG_ACPI_DOCK be selected by CONFIG_ATA_ACPI because
of a build error when CONFIG_ATA_ACPI=y and CONFIG_ACPI_DOCK=m.

However, in September 2008 commit 898b054f3eec5921320ae8614b5bdd7b07ea5b43
("dock: make dock driver not a module") removed the possibility of having
CONFIG_ACPI_DOCK=m and therefore there is no need for selecting it when
CONFIG_ATA_ACPI=y.

This makes the kernel ~5 Kb smaller for people who don't have a dock by
allowing them to not have ACPI_DOCK compiled-in because of ATA_ACPI=y.

libata/drivers: Add driver for Apple "MacIO" IDE controller

This is a libata driver for the "macio" IDE controller used on most Apple
PowerMac and PowerBooks. It's a libata equivalent of drivers/ide/ppc/pmac.c

It supports all the features of its predecessor, including mediabay hotplug
and suspend/resume. It should also support module load/unload.

The timing calculations have been simplified to use pre-calculated tables
compared to drivers/ide/pmac.c and it uses the new mediabay interface
provided by a previous patch.

Barnes produced a NetBSD driver however and from that we can fill in the
needed tables.

As we correct the PCI identifiers a bit also update the old ide generic driver
at the same time so it stays compiling.

libata: add command name parsing for error output

This patch improve libata's output for error/notification messages
to allow easier comprehension and debugging:

When ATAPI commands issued through the SCSI layer fail, use SCSI
functions to print the CDB in human-readable form instead of just
dumping out the CDB in hex.

Print out the name of the failed command (as defined by the ATA
specification) in error handling output along with the raw register
contents.

When reporting status of ACPI taskfile commands executed on resume,
also output the names of the commands being executed (or not) in
readable form.

Since the extra data for printing command names increases kernel
size slightly, a config option has been added to allow disabling
command name output (as well as some of the error register parsing)
for those highly sensitive to kernel text size.

libata: New driver for OCTEON SOC Compact Flash interface (v7).

Cavium OCTEON processor support was recently merged, so now we have
this CF driver for your consideration.

Most OCTEON variants have *no* DMA or interrupt support on the CF
interface so for these, only PIO is supported. Although if DMA is
available, we do take advantage of it.

powerpc/mpc5200: Add MDMA/UDMA support to MPC5200 ATA driver

This patch adds MDMA/UDMA support using BestComm for DMA on the MPC5200
platform. Based heavily on previous work by Freescale (Bernard Kuhn,
John Rigby) and Domen Puncer.

With this patch, a SanDisk Extreme IV CF card gets read speeds of
approximately 26.70 MB/sec.

ahci, pata_marvell: play nicely together

I've been chasing Jeff about this for months. Jeff added the Marvell
device identifiers to the ahci driver without making the AHCI driver
handle the PATA port. This means a lot of users can't use current
kernels and in most distro cases can't even install.

This has been going on since March 2008 for the 6121 Marvell, and late 2007
for the 6145!!!

This was all pointed out at the time and repeatedly ignored. Bugs assigned
to Jeff about this are ignored also.

To quote Jeff in email

> "Just switch the order of 'ahci' and 'pata_marvell' in
> /etc/modprobe.conf, then use Fedora's tools regenerate the initrd.

> See? It's not rocket science, and the current configuration can be
> easily made to work for Fedora users."

(Which isn't trivial, isn't end user, shouldn't be needed, and as it usually
breaks at install time is in fact impossible)

To quote Jeff in August 2007

> " mv-ahci-pata
> Marvell 6121/6141 PATA support. Needs fixing in the 'PATA controller
> command' area before it is usable, and can go upstream."

Only he add the ids anyway later and caused regressions, adding a further
id in March causing more regresions.

The actual fix for the moment is very simple. If the user has included
the pata_marvell driver let it drive the ports. If they've only selected
for SATA support give them the AHCI driver which will run the port a fraction
faster. Allow the user to control this decision via ahci.marvell_enable as
a module parameter so that distributions can ship 'it works' defaults and
smarter users (or config tools) can then flip it over it desired.

sparc: remove CONFIG_SUN4

While doing some easy cleanups on the sparc code I noticed that the
CONFIG_SUN4 code seems to be worse than the rest - there were some
"I don't know how it should work, but the current code definitely cannot
work." places.

And while I have seen people running Linux on machines like a
SPARCstation 5 a few years ago I don't recall having seen sun4
machines, even less ones running Linux.

Make PMP support optional by adding CONFIG_SATA_PMP and leaving out
libata-pmp.c if it isn't set. PMP helpers return constant values if
PMP support is not enabled and PMP declarations alias non-PMP
counterparts. This makes the compiler to leave out PMP related part
out and LLDs to use non-PMP counterparts automatically.

libata: make SFF support optional

Now that SFF support is completely separated out from the core layer,
it can be made optional. Add CONFIG_ATA_SFF and let SFF drivers
depend on it. If CONFIG_ATA_SFF isn't set, all codes in libata-sff.c
and data structures for SFF support are disabled. This saves good
number of bytes for small systems.

pata_cs5536: ATA driver for Geode companion chip

This is a driver for the ATA controller on the Geode CS5536 companion
chip. The PCI device ID for this device was previously claimed by
pata_amd.c but the PIO timings were not correct. This driver also
works around a bug in some BIOSes that handle unaligned access to the
PCI config registers poorly. Finally, the driver allows fallback to
using MSR registers for configuration on BIOSes that are truly
broken.

AVR32 PATA driver

Updated and simplified driver. Use only register transfer timing for both
data and register transfers. This gives poorer performance in PIO1 and 2,
but should not be a problem in PIO3 and 4, correct me if I'm wrong :)

The driver works very we'll but I still wonder about the interrupts. I have
an interrupt line, that works nicely when POLLING flag is not set. The
problem is the number of interrupts that eat away my CPU cycles.

When using the POLLING flag there seem to be some interrupts that dosen't get
cleared. Furthermore the device dosen't drive INTRQ high, it stays at 2.5 volts
and generates a lot of interrupts due to ripple / noise. What to do?

pata_hpt3x3: major reworking and testing

The HPT343/345 (aka 363) is a bit of a warped device. For many setups you
need to access the other registers via BAR4 offsets. PIO is now rock
solid, DMA isn't. Unfortunately the drivers/ide hpt34x driver is
completely broken so doesn't help further debug.

libata/IDE: remove combined mode quirk

Both old-IDE and libata should be able handle all controllers and
devices found using normal resource reservation methods.

This eliminates the awful, low-performing split-driver configuration
where old-IDE drove the PATA portion of a PCI device, in PIO-only mode,
and libata drove the SATA portion of the /same/ PCI device, in DMA mode.
Typically vendors would ship SATA hard drive / PATA optical
configuration, which would lend itself to slow (PIO-only) CD-ROM
performance.

For Intel users running in combined mode, it is now wholly dependent on
your driver choice (potentially link order, if you compile both drivers
in) whether old-IDE or libata will drive your hardware.

In either case, you will get full performance from both SATA and PATA
ports now, without having to pass a kernel command line parameter.

Fix Maple PATA IRQ assignment.

On the Maple board, the AMD8111 IDE is in legacy mode... except that it
appears on IRQ 20 instead of IRQ 15. For drivers/ide this was handled by
the architecture's "pci_get_legacy_ide_irq()" function, but in libata we
just hard-code the numbers 14 and 15.

This patch provides asm-powerpc/libata-portmap.h which maps the IRQ as
appropriate, having added a pci_dev argument to the
ATA_{PRIM,SECOND}ARY_IRQ macros.

There's probably a better way to do this -- especially if we observe
that the _only_ case in which this seemingly-generic
"pci_get_legacy_ide_irq()" function returns anything other than 14 and
15 for primary and secondary respectively is the case of the AMD8111 on
the Maple board -- couldn't we handle that with a special case in the
pata_amd driver, or perhaps with a PCI quirk for Maple to switch it into
native mode during early boot and assign resources properly?

[PATCH] pata_marvell: Marvell 6101/6145 PATA driver

This is a legacy mode PATA driver for the 6101/45 and will also drive
the SATA ports 1 & 2 in legacy mode as well if desired. Tested and
confirmed working by users. The chip supports AHCI type behaviour for
SATA and has a more advanced PATA interface as well so this driver will
get it working but not get best performance for now.
