ACPICA: Hardware: Do not flush CPU cache when entering S4 and S5 ACPICA commit 3dd7e1f3996456ef81bfe14cba29860e8d42949e According to ACPI 6.4, Section 16.2, the CPU cache flushing is required on entering to S1, S2, and S3, but the ACPICA code flushes the CPU cache regardless of the sleep state. Blind cache flush on entering S5 causes problems for TDX. Flushing happens with WBINVD that is not supported in the TDX environment. ACPICA: Avoid evaluating methods too early during system resume ACPICA commit 0762982923f95eb652cf7ded27356b247c9774de During wakeup from system-wide sleep states, acpi_get_sleep_type_data() is called and it tries to get memory from the slab allocator in order to evaluate a control method, but if KFENCE is enabled in the kernel, the memory allocation attempt causes an IRQ work to be queued and a self-IPI to be sent to the CPU running the code which requires the memory controller to be ready, so if that happens too early in the wakeup path, it doesn't work. Prevent that from taking place by calling acpi_get_sleep_type_data() for S0 upfront, when preparing to enter a given sleep state, and saving the data obtained by it for later use during system wakeup. ACPICA: Enable sleep button on ACPI legacy wake ACPICA commit 9383f5b01091e432c05f802a57edc20d329eec1f Hibernation (S4) is triggered in a guest when it recieves a sleep trigger from the hypervisor. When the guest resumes from this power state, it does not see the sleep_enabled bit. In otherwords, the sleep button is not enabled on waking from an S4 state. This causes subsequent invocation of sleep state to fail in the guest. Fix this problem by enabling the sleep button in ACPI legacy wake. ACPICA: Clear status of all events when entering sleep states Commit fa85015c0d95 (ACPICA: Clear status of all events when entering S5) made the sleep state entry code in ACPICA clear the status of all ACPI events when entering S5 to fix a functional regression reported against commit 18996f2db918 (ACPICA: Events: Stop unconditionally clearing ACPI IRQs during suspend/resume). However, it is reported now that the regression also affects system states other than S5 on some systems and causes them to wake up from sleep prematurely. For this reason, make the code in question clear the status of all ACPI events when entering all sleep states (in addition to S5) to avoid the premature wakeups (this may cause some wakeup events to be missed in theory, but the likelihood of that is small and the change here simply restores the previous behavior of the code). ACPICA: Clear status of all events when entering S5 After commit 18996f2db918 (ACPICA: Events: Stop unconditionally clearing ACPI IRQs during suspend/resume) the status of ACPI events is not cleared any more when entering the ACPI S5 system state (power off) which causes some systems to power up immediately after turing off power in certain situations. That is a functional regression, so address it by making the code clear the status of all ACPI events again when entering S5 (for system-wide suspend or hibernation the clearing of the status of all events is not desirable, as it might cause the kernel to miss wakeup events sometimes). This patch fixes this issue by removing such IRQ clearing code. ACPICA: Cleanup source to reduce differences between Linux and ACPICA. This is a cosmetic patch only. Comparison of the resulting binary showed only line number differences. This patch does not affect the generation of the Linux binary. This patch decreases 389 lines of 20121018 divergence.diff. This patch reduces source code diff caused by the simple code maintenance work: 1. Deletion of the unused include files. 2. Deletion of the deprecated codes blocks. 3. Repositioning of the code blocks. 4. Replacing the values with the well defined macros. 5. Replacing the types with the equivalent types. ACPI: delete _GTS/_BFS support _GTS and _BFS were added to the suspend/resume flow in the ACPI 2.0 specification. Linux dutifully implemented _GTS and _BFS. We discovered that it was rarely seen in systems in the field. Further, some of those systems had AML so bogus that it could never work -- proof that no other operating system supports _GTS and _BFS. So we made _GTS and _BFS optional via modparam, and disabled them by default. But we've had to complicate some code to keep this support in the kernel, as these methods are defined to be evaluated very close to sleep entry and exit. Indeed, no other AML is ever evaluated with interrupts off. We have submitted a proposal for _GTS and _BFS to be officially removed from the ACPI specification on the next revision. ACPICA: Sleep/Wake interfaces: optionally execute _GTS and _BFS Enhanced the sleep/wake interfaces to optionally execute the _GTS method (Going To Sleep), and the _BFS method (Back From Sleep). Windows apparently does not execute these methods, and therefore these methods are often untested. It has been seen on some systems where the execution of these methods causes errors and also prevents the machine from entering S5. It is therefore suggested that host operating systems do not execute these methods by default. In the future, perhaps these methods can be optionally executed based on the age of the system and/or what is the newest version of Windows that the BIOS asks for via _OSI. x86, intel_txt: Intel TXT Sx shutdown support Support for graceful handling of sleep states (S3/S4/S5) after an Intel(R) TXT launch. Without this patch, attempting to place the system in one of the ACPI sleep states (S3/S4/S5) will cause the TXT hardware to treat this as an attack and will cause a system reset, with memory locked. Not only may the subsequent memory scrub take some time, but the platform will be unable to enter the requested power state. ACPICA: Optimize ACPI register locking Removed locking for reads from the ACPI bit registers in PM1 Status, Enable, Control, and PM2 Control. The lock is not required when reading the single-bit registers. The acpi_get_register_unlocked function is no longer needed and has been removed. This will improve performance for reads on these registers. ACPICA: Add function to handle PM1 control registers Added acpi_hw_write_pm1_control. This function writes both of the PM1 control registers (A/B). These registers are different than than the PM1 A/B status and enable registers in that different values can be written to the A/B registers. Most notably, the SLP_TYP bits can be different, as per the values returned from the _Sx predefined methods.
