MIPS: octeon: Get rid of preprocessor directives around RESERVE32 Some of them were pointless because CONFIG_CAVIUM_RESERVE32 is now always defined, some were not enough (Yu Zhao reported "Failed to allocate CAVIUM_RESERVE32 memory area" error). Revert "MIPS: Octeon: Remove special handling of CONFIG_MIPS_ELF_APPENDED_DTB=y" This reverts commit d9df9fb901d25b941ab2cfb5b570d91fb2abf7a3. For the OCTEON boards, it need to patch the built-in DTB before using it. Previously it judges if it is a built-in DTB by checking fw_passed_dtb. But after commit 37e5c69ffd41 ("MIPS: head.S: Init fw_passed_dtb to builtin DTB", the fw_passed_dtb is initialized even when using built-in DTB. This causes the OCTEON boards boot broken due to an unpatched built-in DTB is used. Revert the commit d9df9fb901d2 to restore the codes before the fw_passed_dtb is used and then fix this issue. mips/panic: replace smp_send_stop() with kdump friendly version in panic path Daniel Walker reported problems which happens when crash_kexec_post_notifiers kernel option is enabled (https://lkml.org/lkml/2015/6/24/44). In that case, smp_send_stop() is called before entering kdump routines which assume other CPUs are still online. As the result, kdump routines fail to save other CPUs' registers. Additionally for MIPS OCTEON, it misses to stop the watchdog timer. To fix this problem, call a new kdump friendly function, crash_smp_send_stop(), instead of the smp_send_stop() when crash_kexec_post_notifiers is enabled. crash_smp_send_stop() is a weak function, and it just call smp_send_stop(). Architecture codes should override it so that kdump can work appropriately. This patch provides MIPS version. MIPS: Octeon: Fix kernel panic on startup from memory corruption During development it was found that a number of builds would panic during the kernel init process, more specifically in 'delayed_fput()'. The panic showed the kernel trying to access a memory address of '0xb7fdc00' while traversing the 'delayed_fput_list' structure. Comparing this memory address to the value of the pointer used on builds that did not panic confirmed that the pointer on crashing builds must have been corrupted at some stage earlier in the init process. By traversing the list earlier and earlier in the code it was found that 'plat_mem_setup()' was responsible for corrupting the list. Specifically the line: memory = cvmx_bootmem_phy_alloc(mem_alloc_size, __pa_symbol(&__init_end), -1, 0x100000, CVMX_BOOTMEM_FLAG_NO_LOCKING); Which would eventually call: cvmx_bootmem_phy_set_size(new_ent_addr, cvmx_bootmem_phy_get_size (ent_addr) - (desired_min_addr - ent_addr)); Where 'new_ent_addr'=0x4800000 (the address of 'delayed_fput_list') and the second argument (size)=0xb7fdc00 (the address causing the kernel panic). The job of this part of 'plat_mem_setup()' is to allocate chunks of memory for the kernel to use. At the start of each chunk of memory the size of the chunk is written, hence the value 0xb7fdc00 is written onto memory at 0x4800000, therefore the kernel panics when it goes back to access 'delayed_fput_list' later on in the initialisation process. On builds that were not crashing it was found that the compiler had placed 'delayed_fput_list' at 0x4800008, meaning it wasn't corrupted (but something else in memory was overwritten). As can be seen in the first function call above the code begins to allocate chunks of memory beginning from the symbol '__init_end'. The MIPS linker script (vmlinux.lds.S) however defines the .bss section to begin after '__init_end'. Therefore memory within the .bss section is allocated to the kernel to use (System.map shows 'delayed_fput_list' and other kernel structures to be in .bss). To stop the kernel panic (and the .bss section being corrupted) memory should begin being allocated from the symbol '_end'. MIPS: OCTEON: Add semaphore to serialize bootbus accesses. Some hardware blocks attached to the OCTEON bootbus run asynchronously to accesses from the CPUs. These include MMC/SD host, CF(when using DMA), and NAND controller. A bus error, or corrupt data may occur if a CPU is trying to access a bootbus connected device at the same time the bus is running asynchronous operations. To work around these problems we add this semaphore that must be acquired before initiating bootbus activity. Subsequent patches will add users for this. If a real I/O space is present, the PCI/PCIe support code will re-adjust the values accordingly. Tested with EdgeRouter Lite by enabling CONFIG_SERIO_I8042 that caused the originally reported crash. MIPS: Octeon: Don't clobber bootloader data structures. Commit abe77f90dc (MIPS: Octeon: Add kexec and kdump support) added a bootmem region for the kernel image itself. The problem is that this is rounded up to a 0x100000 boundary, which is memory that may not be owned by the kernel. Depending on the kernel's configuration based size, this 'extra' memory may contain data passed from the bootloader to the kernel itself, which if clobbered makes the kernel crash in various ways. The fix: Quit rounding the size up, so that we only use memory assigned to the kernel. MIPS: Cavium: Add EDAC support. Drivers for EDAC on Cavium. Supported subsystems are: o CPU primary caches. These are parity protected only, so only error reporting. o Second level cache - ECC protected, provides SECDED. o Memory: ECC / SECDEC if used with suitable DRAM modules. The driver will will only initialize if ECC is enabled on a system so is safe to run on non-ECC memory. o PCI: Parity error reporting Since it is very hard to test this sort of code the implementation is very conservative and uses polling where possible for now. MIPS: Handle initmem in systems with kernel not in add_memory_region() mem This patch addresses a couple of related problems: 1) The kernel may reside in physical memory outside of the ranges set by plat_mem_setup(). If this is the case, init mem cannot be reused as it resides outside of the range of pages that the kernel memory allocators control. 2) initrd images might be loaded in physical memory outside of the ranges set by plat_mem_setup(). The memory likewise cannot be reused. The patch doesn't handle this specific case, but the infrastructure is useful for future patches that do. The crux of the problem is that there are memory regions that need be memory_present(), but that cannot be free_bootmem() at the time of arch_mem_init(). We create a new type of memory (BOOT_MEM_INIT_RAM) for use with add_memory_region(). Then arch_mem_init() adds the init mem with this type if the init mem is not already covered by existing ranges. When memory is being freed into the bootmem allocator, we skip the BOOT_MEM_INIT_RAM ranges so they are not clobbered, but we do signal them as memory_present(). This way when they are later freed, the necessary memory manager structures have initialized and the Sparse allocater is prevented from crashing. The Octeon specific code that handled this case is removed, because the new general purpose code handles the case.
