Makefile.amd64: remove construct that serves no purpose The variable expansion as written will never match anything but 'amd64/.8' in OBJDIR. The original intention behind the construct remains unclear, but "as is" it serves no other purpose but to generate the warning. Remove it altogether. Fix build with -DNO_ROOT The inclusion of 0a0f7486413c broke the build with the -DNO_ROOT option. Specifically, that commit adds some relative paths (with `..`) to METALOG that make other tools using that log, fail afterwards (tar, makefs...). It's been argued[1] if this is really something mtree(8) should handle more graciously. In the meantime, fix the breakage but changing the order in which the links are created: first in the parent directory, then in the architecture-specific one. We keep the architecture-specific directories an the links to the parent directories. This is something that we might want to change in the future. This commit is based on a concept patch by avg@. ndis(4): remove as previous announced nids(4) was a clever idea in the early 2000's when the market was flooded with 10/100 NICs with Windows-only drivers, but that hasn't been the case for ages and the driver has had no meaningful maintenance in ages. It only supports Windows-XP era drivers. Also remove: - ndis support from wpa_supplicant - ndiscvt(8) Reviewed By: emaste, bcr (manpages) Differential Revision: https://reviews.freebsd.org/D27609

Remove the si(4) driver and sicontrol(8) for Specialix serial cards. The si(4) driver supported multiport serial adapters for ISA, EISA, and PCI buses. This driver does not use bus_space, instead it depends on direct use of the pointer returned by rman_get_virtual(). It is also still locked by Giant and calls for patch testing to convert it to use bus_space were unanswered. Relnotes: yes

Import HyperV Key-Value Pair (KVP) driver and daemon code by Microsoft, many thanks for their continued support of FreeBSD. While I'm there, also implement a new build knob, WITHOUT_HYPERV to disable building and installing of the HyperV utilities when necessary. The HyperV utilities are only built for i386 and amd64 targets. This is a stable/10 candidate for inclusion with 10.1-RELEASE. Submitted by: Wei Hu <weh microsoft com> MFC after: 1 week

Disconnect non-MPSAFE SMBFS from the build in preparation for dropping GIANT from VFS. In addition, disconnect also netsmb, which is a base requirement for SMBFS. In the while SMBFS regular users can use FUSE interface and smbnetfs port to work with their SMBFS partitions. Also, there are ongoing efforts by vendor to support in-kernel smbfs, so there are good chances that it will get relinked once properly locked. This is not targeted for MFC.

Disconnect non-MPSAFE NWFS from the build in preparation for dropping GIANT from VFS. In addition, disconnect also netncp, which is a base requirement for NWFS. In the possibility of a future maintenance of the code and later readd to the FreeBSD base, maybe we should think about a better location for netncp. I'm not entirely sure the / top location is actually right, however I will let network people to comment on that more specifically. This is not targeted for MFC.

'bhyveload' is a userspace FreeBSD loader that can load the kernel + metadata inside a BHyVe-based virtual machine. It is a thin wrapper on top of userboot.so which is a variant of the FreeBSD loader packaged as a shared library. 'bhyveload' provides callbacks that are utilized by userboot.so to do things like console i/o, disk i/o, set virtual machine registers etc. Thanks for Doug Rabson (dfr@) for making this happen.
