The 40 printer name must be a text string composed of 41 uppercase or lowercase alphabetical characters 42 (a-z, A-Z), digits (0-9), hyphens, or 43 underscores. A printer name can be a maximum of 44 14 characters long. 45
46 47 Printer Server: This is the computer you have selected to act 48as the server for print actions. You must be logged on to this 49computer and be running Oracle Solaris Print Manager on it. Oracle 50Solaris Print Manager sets up this system with the appropriate software to manage 51local and remote printers. 52 53
54 Description: 55 [Optional] Describes the printer, including the printer type and 56 location, possibly, or provides other information about the 57 printer. 58 59
60 61 Printer Port: 62 63Specifies the hardware port, such as /dev/term/a, that the printer is 64connected to. 65
66 67 Printer Make: 68 Specifies the printer make, or manufacturer. This 69 information is on the printer and/or in the documentation 70 that is delivered with the printer. 71
72 73 Printer Model: 74 Specifies the printer model. This information 75 is found on the printer and/or in the documentation that is 76 delivered with the printer. 77
78 79 Printer Driver: 80 Specifies the printer driver to use with this printer. The label 81 name followed in parentheses by one of the following letters 82representing the repository in which the printer driver information resides: 83U (user supplied printer information), A (administrator supplied printer 84information), V (vendor supplied printer information), or S (system supplied 85printer information), precedes the name of the Printer Driver. 86
87 88 Fault Notification: 89 Specifies how the superuser will be notified in 90 case of a printer error. 91 92
93 94 Options: Default Printer: If checked, designates this printer 95as the default printer for printing jobs from the computer on which 96you are running Oracle Solaris Print Manager. If you are using a naming 97service, this printer will be the default printer for the naming 98service, also. 99 100
101 102Note that this is the last place the print subsystem looks to 103determine where a particular print job will be printed; the 104destination option of the lp command is the first place looked, and 105other environment variables are checked before this one. See the man 106page for printers.conf(4) for a full explanation of the search order. 107 108
109 110 Options: Banner: Specifies whether a banner 111page will be printed between jobs. 112
113
114"Aways Print Banner" stipulates that a banner will always be printed 115and may not be turned off by the user. 116
117"User Selectable - Default=on" stipulates that a banner will be printed 118unless the user selects 119to turn the banner off. 120
121"Never Print Banner" stipulates that a banner will never be printed 122and may not be turned on by the user. 123 124
125 126 User Access List: 127Specifies the print clients that can 128 print to this printer. By default, all print 129 clients have access to this printer, as designated by the word 130"all" in the list. 131 132
133 134If you want to restrict its use to individual users, enter a user name 135in the text field below the list and click Add. Other legal constructs 136are system-name!login-ID (user "login-ID" on system "system-name"), 137system-name!all (all users on system "system-name"), and all!login-ID 138(user "login-ID" on all systems). Use the lpadmin(1M) command to deny 139access to users. 140 141
142 143To delete a user from the list, select the user in the list and click 144Delete. 145 146
147 148OK: Apply changes and dismiss the window. 149
150Apply: Apply the changes and leave the window displayed. 151
152Reset: Reset all fields to last Apply 153
154Cancel: Dismiss the window. 155
156Help: Display help for the current window or dialog. 157 158
159
160 161<KEYWORDS> 162install "local printer" "printer name" server description port 163"printer make" "printer model" "printer driver" fault "fault notification" "default 164printer" banner "attached printer" new nobanner dialog: new attached 165 166</KEYWORDS> 167 168
169 170<SEEALSO> 171ToInstallLocal 172ToAddAccess 173Overview 174MainWindow 175HelpOnHelp 176</SEEALSO> 177 178
