hardware revision 1.1.1.1.2.2
1NetBSD/mac68k 1.0 runs on several of the older Macintosh computers. 24MB of RAM should be sufficient to boot and the system can probably 3be squeezed onto a 40MB hard disk by leaving off a package or two. 4To actually do much compiling or anything more interesting than 5booting, at least 8MB of RAM and more disk space is recommended. 6About 50MB will be necessary to install all of the NetBSD 1.0 binary 7distribution (note that this does not count swap space!). Much more 8disk space is required to install the source and objects as well (about 9another 105MB). 10 11Supported models: 12 Mac II 13 Mac IIx 14 Mac IIcx 15 Mac IIci 16 Mac SE/30 17 18Supported devices on all of the above systems include: 19 Internal SCSI bus and most SCSI tapes, hard drives, and CD-ROMs 20 Internal sound--enough to beep, anyway 21 Most basic NuBUS video cards (there have been some 22 problems with some 24-bit color cards) 23 Both internal serial ports 24 ADB keyboards and mice 25 26Some systems will boot and are usable from an external terminal 27(serial tty or SL/IP): 28 Mac IIsi 29 Mac IIvx 30 possibly others 31 32What isn't supported, but often asked about: 33 Ethernet cards. There is a driver that is very close to working 34 for a number of cards. Contributions are very welcome. 35 68040-based Macs. Work is in progress on getting a Quadra 700 36 running. This requires a new scsi driver and a new 37 ethernet driver. 38
