\fBout is the \s-1BIO\s0 to write the data to. p7 is the appropriate \s-1PKCS7\s0 structure. If streaming is enabled then the content must be supplied in the \fBdata argument. flags is an optional set of flags.
If \s-1PKCS7_DETACHED\s0 is set then cleartext signing will be used, this option only makes sense for signedData where \s-1PKCS7_DETACHED\s0 is also set when PKCS7_sign() is also called.
If the \s-1PKCS7_TEXT\s0 flag is set \s-1MIME\s0 headers for type text/plain are added to the content, this only makes sense if \s-1PKCS7_DETACHED\s0 is also set.
If the \s-1PKCS7_STREAM\s0 flag is set streaming is performed. This flag should only be set if \s-1PKCS7_STREAM\s0 was also set in the previous call to \fIPKCS7_sign() or \f(BIPKCS7_encrypt().
If cleartext signing is being used and \s-1PKCS7_STREAM\s0 not set then the data must be read twice: once to compute the signature in PKCS7_sign() and once to output the S/MIME message.
If streaming is performed the content is output in \s-1BER\s0 format using indefinite length constructuted encoding except in the case of signed data with detached content where the content is absent and \s-1DER\s0 format is used.
