Because LEDs are normally driven by leds-gpio driver, but the platform code also wants to access the LEDs during thermal shutdown, and gpiod API does not allow locating GPIO without requesting it, the platform code is now responsible for locating GPIOs through device tree and requesting them. Because LEDs are normally driven by leds-gpio driver, but the platform code also wants to access the LEDs during thermal shutdown, and gpiod API does not allow locating GPIO without requesting it, the platform code is now responsible for locating GPIOs through device tree and requesting them. It then constructs platform data for leds-gpio platform device and registers it. This allows platform code to retain access to LED GPIO descriptors and use them when needed. H A D | ene_ub6250.c | diff 1892bf90 Thu Mar 17 14:39:10 MDT 2022 Alan Stern <stern@rowland.harvard.edu> USB: usb-storage: Fix use of bitfields for hardware data in ene_ub6250.c The kernel test robot found a problem with the ene_ub6250 subdriver in usb-storage: It uses structures containing bitfields to represent hardware bits in its SD_STATUS, MS_STATUS, and SM_STATUS bytes. This is not safe; it presumes a particular bit ordering and it assumes the compiler will not insert padding, neither of which is guaranteed. This patch fixes the problem by changing the structures to simple u8 values, with the bitfields replaced by bitmask constants. H A D | mac80211-ops.c | diff 7dd6753f Sun Aug 12 19:18:33 MDT 2012 Bob Copeland <me@bobcopeland.com> ath5k: fix spin_lock_irqsave/spin_lock_bh nesting in mesh Lockdep found an inconsistent lock state when joining a mesh with ath5k. The problem is that ath5k takes the lock for its beacon state, ah->block, with spin_lock_irqsave(), while mesh internally takes the sync_offset_lock with spin_lock_bh() in mesh_sync_offset_adjust_tbtt(), which in turn is called under ah->block. This could deadlock if the beacon tasklet was run on the processor that held the beacon lock during the do_softirq() in spin_unlock_bh(). We probably shouldn't hold the lock around the callbacks, but the easiest fix is to switch to spin_lock_bh for ah->block: it doesn't need interrupts disabled anyway as the data in question is only accessed in softirq or process context. The frame size warnings are distracting, and risking a kernel stack overflow is generally not beneficial to performance, so it may be best to disallow that particular combination. This can be done by turning off either one. I picked the dependency in GCC_PLUGIN_STRUCTLEAK_BYREF and GCC_PLUGIN_STRUCTLEAK_BYREF_ALL, as this option is designed to make uninitialized stack usage less harmful when enabled on its own, but it also prevents KASAN from detecting those cases in which it was in fact needed. KASAN_STACK is currently implied by KASAN on gcc, but could be made a user selectable option if we want to allow combining (non-stack) KASAN with GCC_PLUGIN_STRUCTLEAK_BYREF. Note that it would be possible to specifically address the files that print the warning, but presumably the overall stack usage is still significantly higher than in other configurations, so this would not address the full problem. I could not test this with CONFIG_INIT_STACK_ALL, which may or may not suffer from a similar problem. However, tipc_nl_compat_dumpit() doesn't handle the error returned from cmd header function. It means even when the check added in that fix fails, it won't stop calling tipc_nl_compat_name_table_dump(), and the issue will be triggered again. So this patch is to add the process for the err returned from cmd header function in tipc_nl_compat_dumpit(). H A D | arm-cmn.c | diff 1892fe10 Mon Dec 11 12:27:28 MST 2023 Robin Murphy <robin.murphy@arm.com> perf/arm-cmn: Fail DTC counter allocation correctly Calling arm_cmn_event_clear() before all DTC indices are allocated is wrong, and can lead to arm_cmn_event_add() erroneously clearing live counters from full DTCs where allocation fails. Since the DTC counters are only updated by arm_cmn_init_counter() after all DTC and DTM allocations succeed, nothing actually needs cleaning up in this case anyway, and it should just return directly as it did before.
