This patch creates the core cfg80211 code along with some sysfs bits.
This is a stripped down version to allow mac80211 to function, but
doesn't include any configuration yet except for creating and removing
virtual interfaces.

This patch includes the nl80211 header file but it only contains the
interface types which the cfg80211 interface for creating virtual
interfaces relies on.

diff a6d6fc2b Wed Feb 24 11:30:35 MST 2016 Christian Lamparter <chunkeey@googlemail.com> usbip: move usbip_protocol.txt to Documentation

The usbip_protocol.txt, a document which describes usbip's
inner workings is currently located in the projects source
directory (drivers/usb/usbip/...). This patch moves it to
Documentation/usb.

This discussion was brought up by Guy Harris [0] during the
review of the USBIP dissector I wrote. For anyone interested:
support is available with the latest wireshark master/dev tree.
Simply select a packet from the usbip's tcp-stream you are
intrested on and select the USBIP as the protocol in the
"Decode As" dialog box [1].

Simplify cfg80211_chandef_compatible() a bit by switching
c1 and c2 around so that c1 is always the narrower one
(once they're not identical or narrow/S1G). Then we can
just check the various primary channels and exit with the
wider one (c2), or NULL.

Also refactor the primary 40/80/160 function to not have
all the calculations hard-coded, and use a wrapper around
it to check primary 40/80/160 compatibility.

While at it, add some kunit tests for this functionality.

Also expose the new cfg80211_chandef_primary_freq() to
drivers, mac80211 will use it.

H A Dnetdevice.hdiff 501a90c9 Thu Dec 05 21:43:46 MST 2019 Eric Dumazet <edumazet@google.com> inet: protect against too small mtu values.

syzbot was once again able to crash a host by setting a very small mtu
on loopback device.

Let's make inetdev_valid_mtu() available in include/net/ip.h,
and use it in ip_setup_cork(), so that we protect both ip_append_page()
and __ip_append_data()

Also add a READ_ONCE() when the device mtu is read.

Pairs this lockless read with one WRITE_ONCE() in __dev_set_mtu(),
even if other code paths might write over this field.

Add a big comment in include/linux/netdevice.h about dev->mtu
needing READ_ONCE()/WRITE_ONCE() annotations.

Hopefully we will add the missing ones in followup patches.

diff 880621c2 Sun Nov 22 09:46:09 MST 2015 Martin Blumenstingl <martin.blumenstingl@googlemail.com> packet: Allow packets with only a header (but no payload)

Commit 9c7077622dd91 ("packet: make packet_snd fail on len smaller
than l2 header") added validation for the packet size in packet_snd.
This change enforces that every packet needs a header (with at least
hard_header_len bytes) plus a payload with at least one byte. Before
this change the payload was optional.

This fixes PPPoE connections which do not have a "Service" or
"Host-Uniq" configured (which is violating the spec, but is still
widely used in real-world setups). Those are currently failing with the
following message: "pppd: packet size is too short (24 <= 24)"

diff 693350c2 Mon Mar 10 10:41:46 MDT 2014 stephen hemminger <stephen@networkplumber.org> netdev: set __percpu attribute on netdev_alloc_pcpu_stats

This patch fixes sparse warnings in vlan driver.
It propagates the sparse __percpu attribute from alloc_percpu
into netdev_alloc_pcpu_stats. I expect it may trigger additional
sparse warnings from other drivers that are missing the __percpu
attribute.

While doing this analysis, I found a refcount bug in llc, I'll send a
patch for net-2.6

Meanwhile, here is the patch for net-next-2.6

Your patch then can be applied after mine.

Thanks

[PATCH] net: RCU conversion of dev_getbyhwaddr() and arp_ioctl()

dev_getbyhwaddr() was called under RTNL.

Rename it to dev_getbyhwaddr_rcu() and change all its caller to now use
RCU locking instead of RTNL.

Change arp_ioctl() to use RCU instead of RTNL locking.

Note: this fix a dev refcount bug in llc

diff 704232c2 Mon Apr 23 01:20:05 MDT 2007 Johannes Berg <johannes@sipsolutions.net> [WIRELESS] cfg80211: New wireless config infrastructure.
