wifi: mac80211: adjust EHT capa when lowering bandwidth If intending to associate with a lower bandwidth, remove capabilities related to 320 MHz from the EHT capabilities element. Also change the EHT MCS-NSS set accordingly: if just reducing 320->160 or similar the format doesn't change, just cut off the last bytes. If changing from higher bandwidth to 20 MHz only EHT STA, adjust the format. Note that this also requires adjusting the caller in mlme.c since the data written can now be shorter than it determined. We need to clean all that up. Since the other callers pass NULL for the conn limit, we don't need to change things there. wifi: ieee80211: don't require protected vendor action frames For vendor action frames, whether a protected one should be used or not is clearly up to the individual vendor and frame, so even though a protected dual is defined, it may not get used. Thus, don't require protection for vendor action frames when they're used in a connection. Since we obviously don't process frames unknown to the kernel in the kernel, it may makes sense to invert this list to have all the ones the kernel processes and knows to be requiring protection, but that'd be a different change. wifi: mac80211: support antenna control in injection Support antenna control for injection by parsing the antenna radiotap field (which may be presented multiple times) and telling the driver about the resulting antenna bitmap. Of course there's no guarantee the driver will actually honour this, just like any other injection control. If misconfigured, i.e. the injected HT/VHT MCS needs more chains than antennas are configured, the bitmap is reset to zero, indicating no selection. For now this is only set up for two anntenas so we keep more free bits, but that can be trivially extended if any driver implements support for it that can deal with hardware with more antennas. wifi: cfg80211: do some rework towards MLO link APIs In order to support multi-link operation with multiple links, start adding some APIs. The notable addition here is to have the link ID in a new nl80211 attribute, that will be used to differentiate the links in many nl80211 operations. So far, this patch adds the netlink NL80211_ATTR_MLO_LINK_ID attribute (as well as the NL80211_ATTR_MLO_LINKS attribute) and plugs it through the system in some places, checking the validity etc. along with other infrastructure needed for it. For now, I've decided to include only the over-the-air link ID in the API. I know we discussed that we eventually need to have to have other ways of identifying a link, but for local AP mode and auth/assoc commands as well as set_key etc. we'll use the OTA ID. Also included in this patch is some refactoring of the data structures in struct wireless_dev, splitting for the first time the data into type dependent pieces, to make reasoning about these things easier. cfg80211: Replace zero-length array with flexible-array The current codebase makes use of the zero-length array language extension to the C90 standard, but the preferred mechanism to declare variable-length types such as these ones is a flexible array member[1][2], introduced in C99: struct foo { int stuff; struct boo array[]; }; By making use of the mechanism above, we will get a compiler warning in case the flexible array does not occur last in the structure, which will help us prevent some kind of undefined behavior bugs from being inadvertently introduced[3] to the codebase from now on. Also, notice that, dynamic memory allocations won't be affected by this change: "Flexible array members have incomplete type, and so the sizeof operator may not be applied. As a quirk of the original implementation of zero-length arrays, sizeof evaluates to zero."[1] sizeof(flexible-array-member) triggers a warning because flexible array members have incomplete type[1]. There are some instances of code in which the sizeof operator is being incorrectly/erroneously applied to zero-length arrays and the result is zero. Such instances may be hiding some bugs. So, this work (flexible-array member conversions) will also help to get completely rid of those sorts of issues. This issue was found with the help of Coccinelle. mac80211: add ieee80211_is_any_nullfunc() commit 08a5bdde3812 ("mac80211: consider QoS Null frames for STA_NULLFUNC_ACKED") Fixed a bug where we failed to take into account a nullfunc frame can be either non-QoS or QoS. It turns out there is at least one more bug in ieee80211_sta_tx_notify(), introduced in commit 7b6ddeaf27ec ("mac80211: use QoS NDP for AP probing"), where we forgot to check for the QoS variant and so assumed the QoS nullfunc frame never went out Fix this by adding a helper ieee80211_is_any_nullfunc() which consolidates the check for non-QoS and QoS nullfunc frames. cfg80211: add and use strongly typed element iteration macros Rather than always iterating elements from frames with pure u8 pointers, add a type "struct element" that encapsulates the id/datalen/data format of them. Then, add the element iteration macros * for_each_element * for_each_element_id * for_each_element_extid which take, as their first 'argument', such a structure and iterate through a given u8 array interpreting it as elements. While at it and since we'll need it, also add * for_each_subelement * for_each_subelement_id * for_each_subelement_extid which instead of taking data/length just take an outer element and use its data/datalen. Also add for_each_element_completed() to determine if any of the loops above completed, i.e. it was able to parse all of the elements successfully and no data remained. Use for_each_element_id() in cfg80211_find_ie_match() as the first user of this. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com>

mac80211: add fast-rx path The regular RX path has a lot of code, but with a few assumptions on the hardware it's possible to reduce the amount of code significantly. Currently the assumptions on the driver are the following: * hardware/driver reordering buffer (if supporting aggregation) * hardware/driver decryption & PN checking (if using encryption) * hardware/driver did de-duplication * hardware/driver did A-MSDU deaggregation * AP_LINK_PS is used (in AP mode) * no client powersave handling in mac80211 (in client mode) of which some are actually checked per packet: * de-duplication * PN checking * decryption and additionally packets must * not be A-MSDU (have been deaggregated by driver/device) * be data packets * not be fragmented * be unicast * have RFC 1042 header Additionally dynamically we assume: * no encryption or CCMP/GCMP, TKIP/WEP/other not allowed * station must be authorized * 4-addr format not enabled Some data needed for the RX path is cached in a new per-station "fast_rx" structure, so that we only need to look at this and the packet, no other memory when processing packets on the fast RX path. After doing the above per-packet checks, the data path collapses down to a pretty simple conversion function taking advantage of the data cached in the small fast_rx struct. This should speed up the RX processing, and will make it easier to reason about parallelizing RX (for which statistics will need to be per-CPU still.) mac80211: limit the A-MSDU Tx based on peer's capabilities In VHT, the specification allows to limit the number of MSDUs in an A-MSDU in the Extended Capabilities IE. There is also a limitation on the byte size in the VHT IE. In HT, the only limitation is on the byte size. Parse the capabilities from the peer and make them available to the driver. In HT, there is another limitation when a BA agreement is active: the byte size can't be greater than 4095. This is not enforced here. mac80211: support DTPC IE (from Cisco Client eXtensions) Linux already supports 802.11h, where the access point can tell the client to reduce its transmission power. However, 802.11h is only defined for 5 GHz, where the need for this is much smaller than on 2.4 GHz. Cisco has their own solution, called DTPC (Dynamic Transmit Power Control). Cisco APs on a controller sometimes but not always send 802.11h; they always send DTPC, even on 2.4 GHz. This patch adds support for parsing and honoring the DTPC IE in addition to the 802.11h element (they do not always contain the same limits, so both must be honored); the format is not documented, but very simple. Tested (on top of wireless.git and on 3.16.1) against a Cisco Aironet 1142 joined to a Cisco 2504 WLC, by setting various transmit power levels for the given access points and observing the results. The Wireshark 802.11 dissector agrees with the interpretation of the element, except for negative numbers, which seem to never happen anyway. Signed-off-by: Steinar H. ieee80211: mark 802.11 related structs as being 2-byte aligned Regardless of what header features they use, or if they align the IP header or not, 802.11 packets from all drivers guarantee a 2-byte alignment (and there's a debug WARN_ON in case they don't). Annotate packet structs with __aligned(2) to allow the compiler to use 16-bit load/store operations on platforms with extremely inefficient unaligned access (e.g. MIPS). This reduces code size and improves performance on affected platforms and causes no binary code change on others. When a peer link is established, use the default power mode stored in mesh config. Update the PS status if the peering status of a neighbor changes. Maintain a mesh power mode for non-peer mesh STAs. Set the non-peer power mode to active mode during peering. Authenticated mesh peering is currently not working when either node is configured to be in power save mode. Indicate the current power mode in transmitted frames. Use QoS Nulls to indicate mesh power mode transitions. For performance reasons, calls to the function setting the frame flags are placed in HWMP routing routines, as there the STA pointer is already available. Add peer_pm to sta_info to represent the peer's link-specific power mode towards the local station. Add nonpeer_pm to represent the peer's power mode towards all non-peer stations. Track power modes based on received frames. Add the ps_data structure to ieee80211_if_mesh (for TIM map, PS neighbor counter and group-addressed frame buffer). Set WLAN_STA_PS flag for STA in PS mode to use the unicast frame buffering routines in the tx path. Update num_sta_ps to buffer and release group-addressed frames after DTIM beacons. Announce the awake window duration in beacons if in light or deep sleep mode towards any peer or non-peer. Create a TIM IE similarly to AP mode and add it to mesh beacons. Parse received Awake Window IEs and check TIM IEs for buffered frames. Release frames towards peers in mesh Peer Service Periods. Use the corresponding trigger frames and monitor the MPSP status. Append a QoS Null as trigger frame if neccessary to properly end the MPSP. Currently, in HT channels MPSPs behave imperfectly and show large delay spikes and frame losses. mac80211: Implement mesh synchronization framework This patch adds MBSS extensible synchronization framework (Sec. 13.13.2 of IEEE Std. 802.11-2012). The framework is implemented via an ops table which defines the following functions: rx_bcn_presp() - this is called every time a mesh beacon is received. adjust_tbtt() - this is called immediately before a beacon is about to be transmitted. The default neighbor offset synchronization defined in the standard is implemented. We also provide template functions for vendor specific methods. When neighbor offset synchronization is active (which is the default) mesh neighbors in the same MBSS will track timing offsets to each other and compensate clock drift. In our tests we observed that this mesh synchronization implementation successfully corrected drifts between stations of ~2PPM while introducing a jitter of ~20us. It is also possible to test this framework on mac80211_hwsim simulated phys to see how it behaves under different topologies, over poor links, etc. Signed-off-by: Marco Porsch <marco.porsch@s2005.tu-chemnitz.de> Signed-off-by: Pavel Zubarev <pavel.zubarev@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Javier Cardona <javier@cozybit.com> Signed-off-by: John W. mac80211: Remove unused third address from mesh address extension header. The Mesh Control header only includes 0, 1 or 2 addresses. If there is one address, it should be interpreted as Address 4. If there are 2, they are interpreted as Addresses 5 and 6 (Address 4 being the 4th address in the 802.11 header). The address extension used to hold up to 3 addresses instead of the current 2. I'm not sure which draft version changed this, but it is very unlikely that it will change again given the state of the approval process of this draft. See section 7.1.3.6.3 in current draft (8.0). Also, note that the extra address that I'm removing was not being used, so this change has no effect on over-the-air frame formats. But I thought I better remove it before someone does start using it. Signed-off-by: Javier Cardona <javier@cozybit.com> Signed-off-by: John W. Linville <linville@tuxdriver.com>

mac80211: Update mesh constants to approved IEEE ANA values This patch updates IEEE802.11 mesh constants to be consistent with newly approved values. It modifies some values, as well as adds many new constants in preparation for updating mesh code to the current 802.11s drafts. ANA numbers were taken from: https://mentor.ieee.org/802.11/dcn/09/11-09-0031-12-0000-ana-database-assigned-number-authority.xls A few notes are in order: 1. This will break backwards compatibility with existing Linux kernels as over-the-air constants have changed. 2. Some old and obsolete constants have been retained for now as the mesh code itself hasn't been updated yet to the new 802.11s draft. This was desired to keep the existing mesh scheme working until it can be updated. Adding the approved values is the first step in updating the mesh code. 3. Obsolete constants have been clearly marked. 4. All ANA approved 802.11s constants have been added. Signed-off-by: Steve deRosier <steve@cozybit.com> Signed-off-by: John W. mac80211: clean up/fix aggregation code The aggregation code has a number of quirks, like inventing an unneeded WLAN_BACK_TIMER value and leaking memory under certain circumstances during station destruction. Fix these issues by using the regular aggregation session teardown code and blocking new aggregation sessions, all before the station is really destructed. As a side effect, this gets rid of the long code block to destroy aggregation safely. Additionally, rename tid_state_rx which can only have the values IDLE and OPERATIONAL to tid_active_rx to make it easier to understand that there is no bitwise stuff going on on the RX side -- the TX side remains because it needs to keep track of the driver and peer states. mac80211: add U-APSD client support Add Unscheduled Automatic Power-Save Delivery (U-APSD) client support. The idea is that the data frames from the client trigger AP to send the buffered frames with ACs which have U-APSD enabled. This decreases latency and makes it possible to save even more power. Driver needs to use IEEE80211_HW_UAPSD to enable the feature. The current implementation assumes that firmware takes care of the wakeup and hardware needing IEEE80211_HW_PS_NULLFUNC_STACK is not yet supported. Add two new functions, ieee80211_pspoll_get() and ieee80211_nullfunc_get() which drivers need to call to get the frame. Drivers are also responsible for updating the templates after each association. Change this to split apart the user-specified IEs in two places for association: before the HT IE (e.g. RSN), after the HT IE (generally empty right now I think?) and after WMM (all other vendor-specific IEs). mac80211: fix peer HT capabilities I noticed yesterday, because Jeff had noticed a speed regression, cf. bug http://bugzilla.intellinuxwireless.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2138 that the SM PS settings for peers were wrong. Instead of overwriting the SM PS settings with the local bits, we need to keep the remote bits. The bug was part of the original HT code from over two years ago, but unfortunately nobody noticed that it makes no sense -- we shouldn't be overwriting the peer's setting with our own but rather keep it intact when masking the peer capabilities with our own. While fixing that, I noticed that the masking of capabilities is completely useless for most of the bits, so also fix those other bits. Finally, I also noticed that PSMP_SUPPORT no longer exists in the final 802.11n version, so also remove that. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes@sipsolutions.net> Signed-off-by: John W. nl80211: Add MLME primitives to support external SME This patch adds new nl80211 commands to allow user space to request authentication and association (and also deauthentication and disassociation). The commands are structured to allow separate authentication and association steps, i.e., the interface between kernel and user space is similar to the MLME SAP interface in IEEE 802.11 standard and an user space application takes the role of the SME. The patch introduces MLME-AUTHENTICATE.request, MLME-{,RE}ASSOCIATE.request, MLME-DEAUTHENTICATE.request, and MLME-DISASSOCIATE.request primitives. The authentication and association commands request the actual operations in two steps (assuming the driver supports this; if not, separate authentication step is skipped; this could end up being a separate "connect" command). The initial implementation for mac80211 uses the current net/mac80211/mlme.c for actual sending and processing of management frames and the new nl80211 commands will just stop the current state machine from moving automatically from authentication to association. Future cleanup may move more of the MLME operations into cfg80211. The goal of this design is to provide more control of authentication and association process to user space without having to move the full MLME implementation. This should be enough to allow IEEE 802.11r FT protocol and 802.11s SAE authentication to be implemented. Obviously, this will also bring the extra benefit of not having to use WEXT for association requests with mac80211. An example implementation of a user space SME using the new nl80211 commands is available for wpa_supplicant. This patch is enough to get IEEE 802.11r FT protocol working with over-the-air mechanism (over-the-DS will need additional MLME primitives for handling the FT Action frames). cfg80211/mac80211: Add 802.11d support This adds country IE parsing to mac80211 and enables its usage within the new regulatory infrastructure in cfg80211. We parse the country IEs only on management beacons for the BSSID you are associated to and disregard the IEs when the country and environment (indoor, outdoor, any) matches the already processed country IE. To avoid following misinformed or outdated APs we build and use a regulatory domain out of the intersection between what the AP provides us on the country IE and what CRDA is aware is allowed on the same country. A secondary device is allowed to follow only the same country IE as it make no sense for two devices on a system to be in two different countries. In the case the AP is using country IEs for an incorrect country the user may help compliance further by setting the regulatory domain before or after the IE is parsed and in that case another intersection will be performed. CONFIG_WIRELESS_OLD_REGULATORY is supported but requires CRDA present. Signed-off-by: Luis R. mac80211_hwsim: Add support for client PS mode This introduces a debugfs file (ieee80211/phy#/hwsim/ps) that can be used to force a simulated radio into power save mode. Following values can be written into this file to change PS mode: 0 = power save disabled (constantly awake) 1 = power save enabled (drop all frames; do not send PS-Poll) 2 = power save enabled (send PS-Poll frames automatically to receive buffered unicast frames); not yet fully implemented 3 = manual PS-Poll trigger (send a single PS-Poll frame) Two different behavior for power save mode processing can be tested: - move between modes 1 and 0 (i.e., receive all buffered frames at a time) - move to mode 1 and use manual PS-Poll frames (write 3 to the 'ps' debugfs file) to fetch power save buffered frames one at a time Mode 2 (automatic PS-Poll) does not yet parse Beacon frames, but eventually, it should take a look at TIM IE and send PS-Poll if a traffic bit is set for our AID. mac80211: add helpers for frame control testing A few general categories: 1) ieee80211_has_* tests if particular fctl bits are set, the helpers are de in the same order as the fctl defines: A combined _has_a4 was also added to test when both FROMDS and TODS are set. 2) ieee80211_is_* is meant to test whether the frame control is of a certain ftype - data, mgmt, ctl, and two special helpers _is_data_qos, _is_data_pres which also test a subset of the stype space. When testing for a particular stype applicable only to one ftype, functions like ieee80211_is_ack have been added. Note that the ftype is also being checked in these helpers. They have been added for all mgmt and ctl stypes in the same order as the STYPE defines. 3) ieee80211_get_* is meant to take a struct ieee80211_hdr * and returns a pointer to somewhere in the struct, see get_SA, get_DA, get_qos_ctl. The intel wireless drivers had helpers that used this namespace, convert the all to use the new helpers and remove the byteshifting as they were defined in cpu-order rather than little-endian.
