ixgbe: Be more careful when modifying MAC filters This change makes it so that we are much more explicit about the ordering of updates to the receive address register (RAR) table. Prior to this patch I believe we may have been updating the table while entries were still active, or possibly allowing for reordering of things since we weren't explicitly flushing writes to either the lower or upper portion of the register prior to accessing the other half. Revert commit 1a8b6d76dc5b ("net:add one common config...") The new flag PCI_DEV_FLAGS_NO_RELAXED_ORDERING has been added to indicate that Relaxed Ordering Attributes (RO) should not be used for Transaction Layer Packets (TLP) targeted toward these affected Root Port, it will clear the bit4 in the PCIe Device Control register, so the PCIe device drivers could query PCIe configuration space to determine if it can send TLPs to Root Port with the Relaxed Ordering Attributes set. With this new flag we don't need the config ARCH_WANT_RELAX_ORDER to control the Relaxed Ordering Attributes for the ixgbe drivers just like the commit 1a8b6d76dc5b ("net:add one common config...") did, so revert this commit. ixgbe: always call setup_mac_link for multispeed fiber Remove the logic which would previously skip the link configuration in the case where we are already at the requested speed in ixgbe_setup_mac_link_multispeed_fiber(). By exiting early we are skipping the link configuration and as such the driver may not always configure the PHY correctly for SFP+. ixgbe: Fix issues with EEPROM access There are two problems with EEPROM access. One is that it needs to hold the semaphore until the entire response is read or else the response can be corrupted by other firmware accesses. The second problem is that acquiring and releasing the semaphore is slow, so it should be taken and released once when multiple EEPROM accesses will be done. Both of these issues can be solved by adding a new function, ixgbe_hic_unlocked, to issue firmware commands that will assume that the caller has acquired the needed semaphore. ixgbe: Report driver version to firmware for x550 devices Some x550 devices require the driver version reported to its firmware; this patch sends the driver version string to the firmware through the host interface command for x550 devices. ixgbe: cleanup crosstalk fix This patch address a few issues with the initial crosstalk fix. Most important of which is the SDP that indicates the presents of a SFP+ module changes between HW types. ixgbevf: Correct parameter sent to LED function The second parameter of these functions is the index to the led we are interested in affecting. ixgbe: use BIT() macro Several areas of ixgbe were written before widespread usage of the BIT(n) macro. With the impending release of GCC 6 and its associated new warnings, some usages such as (1 << 31) have been noted within the ixgbe driver source. Fix these wholesale and prevent future issues by simply using BIT macro instead of hand coded bit shifts. Also fix a few shifts that are shifting values into place by using the 'u' prefix to indicate unsigned. It doesn't strictly matter in these cases because we're not shifting by too large a value, but these are all unsigned values and should be indicated as such. ixgbe: Reorder search to work from the top down instead of bottom up This patch is meant to reduce the complexity of the search function used for finding a VLVF entry associated with a given VLAN ID. The previous code was searching from bottom to top. I reordered it to search from top to bottom. In addition I pulled an AND statement out of the loop and instead replaced it with an OR statement outside the loop. This should help to reduce the overall size and complexity of the function. There was also some formatting I cleaned up in regards to whitespace and such. ixgbe: Simplify configuration of setting VLVF and VLVFB This patch addresses several issues within the VLVF and VLVFB configuration First was the fact that code was overly complicated with multiple conditional paths depending on if we adding or removing and which bit we were going to add or remove. Instead of messing with all that I have simplified it by using (vid / 32) and (1 - vid / 32) to identify our register and the other vlvfb register. Second was the fact that we were likely leaking a few packets into the PF in cases where we were deleting an entry and the VFTA filter for that entry as the ordering was such that we deleted the pool and then the VLAN filter instead of the other way around. I have updated that by adding a check for no bits being set and if that occurs we clear things up in the proper order. To get around this we add a const u32 *mvals pointer to the ixgbe_hw struct to point to an array of mac-type-dependent values. These can include register offsets, masks, whatever can be in a u32. Unfortunately a variety of errors can happen that completely prevent the calculation of a checksum. ixgbe: fix X540 Completion timeout On topologies including few levels of PCIe switching X540 can run into an unexpected completion error. We get around this by waiting after enabling loopback a sufficient amount of time until Tx Data Fetch is sent. We then poll the pending transaction bit to ensure we received the completion. In cases where the SW/FW semaphore bits were set (i.e. due to a crash) the driver will hang on load. With this patch the driver will clear the stuck bits if the semaphore was not acquired in the allotted time. The correct approach is to only set anti-spoof on the VF pools and to leave all of the PF pools unchecked. This allows for items such as FCoE to use adjacent pools within the PF for transmit and receive queues without the traffic being blocked by this security feature. ixgbe: Correctly set SAN MAC RAR pool to default pool of PF This change corrects an issue in which an FCoE enabled adapter was always setting the FCoE SAN MAC MPSAR register to 0x1. This results in the first VF being assigned the SAN MAC address in the case of SR-IOV and as such is incorrect. To resolve this I am adding a new function that will update the SAN MAC pool address after reset. ixgbe: Update link flow control to correctly handle multiple packet buffer DCB This change updates the link flow control configuration so that we correctly set the link flow control settings for DCB. Previously we would have to call the fc_enable call 8 times, once for each packet buffer. If we move that logic into the fc_enable call itself we can avoid multiple unnecessary register writes. This change also corrects an issue in which we were only shifting the water marks for 82599 parts by 6 instead of 10. This was resulting in us only using 1/16 of the packet buffer when flow control was enabled. ixgbe: Fix race condition where RX buffer could become corrupted. ixgbe: Do not disable read relaxed ordering when DCA is enabled A previous fix had gone though and disabled relaxed ordering for Rx descriptor read fetching. This was not necessary as this functions correctly and has no ill effects on the system. In addition several of the defines used for the DCA control registers were incorrect in that they indicated descriptor effects when they actually had an impact on either data or header write back. As such I have update these to correctly reflect either DATA or HEAD. ixgbe: update {P}FC thresholds to account for X540 and loopback Revise high and low threshold marks wrt flow control to account for the X540 devices and latency introduced by the loopback switch. Without this it was in theory possible to drop frames on a supposedly lossless link with X540 or SR-IOV enabled. Previously we used a magic number in a define to calculate the threshold values. This made it difficult to sort out exactly which latencies were or were not being accounted for. Here I was overly explicit and tried to used #define names that would be recognizable after reading the IEEE 802.1Qbb specification. So now I force the u32 to a boolean value with '!!'.
