livepatch: Remove klp_arch_set_pc() and asm/livepatch.h All three versions of klp_arch_set_pc() do exactly the same: they call ftrace_instruction_pointer_set(). Call ftrace_instruction_pointer_set() directly and remove klp_arch_set_pc(). As klp_arch_set_pc() was the only thing remaining in asm/livepatch.h on x86 and s390, remove asm/livepatch.h livepatch.h remains on powerpc but its content is exclusively used by powerpc specific code. x86/livepatch: Validate __fentry__ location Currently livepatch assumes __fentry__ lives at func+0, which is most likely untrue with IBT on. Instead make it use ftrace_location() by default which both validates and finds the actual ip if there is any in the same symbol. powerpc/ftrace: Add support for livepatch to PPC32 PPC64 needs some special logic to properly set up the TOC. See commit 85baa095497f ("powerpc/livepatch: Add live patching support on ppc64le") for details. PPC32 doesn't have TOC so it doesn't need that logic, so adding LIVEPATCH support is straight forward. Add CONFIG_LIVEPATCH_64 and move livepatch stack logic into that item. Livepatch sample modules all work. powerpc/64s: avoid reloading (H)SRR registers if they are still valid When an interrupt is taken, the SRR registers are set to return to where it left off. Unless they are modified in the meantime, or the return address or MSR are modified, there is no need to reload these registers when returning from interrupt. Introduce per-CPU flags that track the validity of SRR and HSRR registers. These are cleared when returning from interrupt, when using the registers for something else (e.g., OPAL calls), when adjusting the return address or MSR of a context, and when context switching (which changes the return address and MSR). This improves the performance of interrupt returns. livepatch: Use the default ftrace_ops instead of REGS when ARGS is available When CONFIG_HAVE_DYNAMIC_FTRACE_WITH_ARGS is available, the ftrace call will be able to set the ip of the calling function. This will improve the performance of live kernel patching where it does not need all the regs to be stored just to change the instruction pointer. If all archs that support live kernel patching also support HAVE_DYNAMIC_FTRACE_WITH_ARGS, then the architecture specific function klp_arch_set_pc() could be made generic. It is possible that an arch can support HAVE_DYNAMIC_FTRACE_WITH_ARGS but not HAVE_DYNAMIC_FTRACE_WITH_REGS and then have access to live patching. livepatch: Remove klp_check_compiler_support() The only purpose of klp_check_compiler_support() is to make sure that we are not using ftrace on x86 via mcount (because that's executed only after prologue has already happened, and that's too late for livepatching purposes). Now that mcount is not supported by ftrace any more, there is no need for klp_check_compiler_support() either. powerpc: Activate CONFIG_THREAD_INFO_IN_TASK This patch activates CONFIG_THREAD_INFO_IN_TASK which moves the thread_info into task_struct. Moving thread_info into task_struct has the following advantages: - It protects thread_info from corruption in the case of stack overflows. - Its address is harder to determine if stack addresses are leaked, making a number of attacks more difficult. This has the following consequences: - thread_info is now located at the beginning of task_struct. - The 'cpu' field is now in task_struct, and only exists when CONFIG_SMP is active. - thread_info doesn't have anymore the 'task' field. This patch: - Removes all recopy of thread_info struct when the stack changes. - Changes the CURRENT_THREAD_INFO() macro to point to current. - Selects CONFIG_THREAD_INFO_IN_TASK. - Modifies raw_smp_processor_id() to get ->cpu from current without including linux/sched.h to avoid circular inclusion and without including asm/asm-offsets.h to avoid symbol names duplication between ASM constants and C constants. - Modifies klp_init_thread_info() to take a task_struct pointer argument. powerpc/livepatch: Add livepatch stack to struct thread_info In order to support live patching we need to maintain an alternate stack of TOC & LR values. We use the base of the stack for this, and store the "live patch stack pointer" in struct thread_info. Unlike the other fields of thread_info, we can not statically initialise that value, so it must be done at run time. This patch just adds the code to support that, it is not enabled until the next patch which actually adds live patch support.
